While visiting the St. George area, we stopped at Cafe Sabor for lunch and had a wonderful experience. Our waitress, Elydia, was very attentive and promptly refilled our drinks and chips whenever she noticed they were running low. The complimentary chips and salsa were excellent. The chips tasted freshly made, and we were served two salsa (mild and hot) both packed with flavor. The hot salsa was not as spicy as I anticipated but well seasoned and tasty. I ordered the combo plate with two hard-shell shredded beef tacos, served with rice and refried beans. Everything was flavorful and satisfying. My husband chose the veggie fajitas, which featured a nice medley of mushrooms, onions, bell peppers, and zucchini. He requested black beans with no cheese or sour cream, and the rice and beans plate included a dollop of guacamole. His meal also came with handmade flour tortillas that were soft, fresh, and absolutely delicious. Despite the restaurant being busy, we were seated immediately, and our meals arrived within just a few minutes. A very nice pleasant place to eat. Good ambiance which seems a notch above most Mexican restaurants. They immediately served chips and salsa (one mild, one "spicy"). Sadly the mild salsa was an over blended conglomeration with little distinctive flavor. They should walk a block down to Angelica's and steal their mild salsa/pico which is one of the best I have ever had. The salsa and chips are your first introduction/impression to the meal, so they must be done right. I ordered the Carne Asada and my wife order a single fish taco ( She is a small eater). My Carne had a very good charred flavor. It was slightly over cooked and came out a little tough. It would have been great had it been tenderized. The rice was acceptable and the refried beans were quite good. Now, here is where it falls apart. My wife's fish taco was "fishy" which means a strong flavor. When our server came over we told him of the "fishy" flavor. He asked if she liked it and she said no. His response was "sorry about that." Really? It was a five dollar taco not a $75 filet at a high end steakhouse . The server should have been empowered by management to immediately rectify the situation and asked; "Would you like something else?" How simple. But "sorry about that" is the truly worst response you can give to a customer. Management at Sabor should address this and train their staff to satisfy the customer. The food could have been five star gourmet, but you never treat a customer like that, never. I couldn't give Sabor higher than a three because of this terrible breach in customer service. I don't know why it's taken us years to try out this restaurant, but I'm happy we finally did. We came about an hour before closing. I ordered pollo Durango which was delicious--the chicken pieces were stewed with onions and mushrooms in a creamy sauce; the meal came with cheesy refried beans and flavorful rice. The plate was blistering hot even after we finished eating, so that was awesome. My husband didn't love his meal; basic shredded beef hard shell taco (not fried), a cheese enchilada and beef tamale. He was hoping for some pork. Ending the experience with hand-dipped chocolates from The Blue Bird Cafe in Logan was a pleasant surprise. I thought it was a joke when someone reviewed chocolates at this Mexican restaurant. Paxton was a great, attentive server. He cleared dirty dishes, kept our drinks refilled, and brought a takeout container but didn't rush us or make us u comfortable about being there after 9:00 (they close at 10:00 on weeknights). Wish other restaurants were as efficient. Our waiter was problematic. Forgot to bring water and never checked on the water. He was fast getting us the check. Now the food. the quesadillas were amazing. The chicken chimichanga is prepared in advance in bulk and fried and there is barely any chicken in them. Much different than my last visit sadly. We've stopped here the last two times we've visited St.George. It was right next to our hotel so it's quick to walk to for dinner a couple weeks ago and asked to sit at the bar. The hostess took us upstairs and sat us at a table near the bar, but we asked to move and sit at the actual bar. The bartender was friendly and was in top of the service! Went there Saturday night a couple weeks later while in town and again went to sit at the bar. Eliza was excellent as well, got into a great discussion with her. She was on top of our service and great with recommendations on the food. I highly recommend to sit at the bar, it's open seating and you'll have great service. I've been to cafe sabor twice now and both times were excellent. I tend to be a creature of habit and order the same thing every time, I got the combination fajitas and oh my. I crave them weekly. They are so delicious. Shrimp is a little scant but the chicken and beef are plentiful. The zucchini was an odd addition but it is so tasty! Their tortillas are so fresh and delicious and even though the meal comes with 3 (there is meat enough for 9) you can ask for more and the waiter will bring them out fresh. It's a lot of food. Definitely meant for 2-3 people but I just eat ad much as I can and take the rest for lunch the next day. Cafe sabor is my go to for those combination fajitas. My husband also got a burrito (can't remember which one) and loved it. We will be back! read more

I noticed she kept checking in on a certain individual presumably her boyfriend as she sat with him for 3 minutes. Went here to have dinner with my nephew and my travel buddies. We had a great time and the food was delicious. Just one note...take heed...the wait time to get seated can be long since this place is popular with tourists and locals, so I do suggest using the wait list system here on their Yelp page, if reservations are not available. We were able to walk in and only waited a short 10 minutes. Now on to the food and service; both great btw. I had their Shrimp Enchiladas and was not one bit disappointed, actually I would have seconds (maybe even thirds and worry about my over stuffed stomach later) if offered. We did the usual "try mine" taste test around the table and not one dish had an issue to me, will...maybe a little bit over seasoning with the cinnamon in the molé sauce, but that's just my own personal preference, but it was still tasty. We had an issue with getting our food that led to the 3 star review. Most other tables received their food and some were even finished before our party of 3 received ours. After we ordered drinks, it took a while to get those too. We did have chips and salsa to keep us occupied while waiting, and those were good. And more waiting! We were told the kitchen misplaced the ticket. Our server offered apologies and also had told us he was new. One would expect something complimentary, maybe a dessert or drink, after the fiasco. Apparently they do not operate like that. Cuz we were offered nothing! The upstairs "cantina" was fun, and that is where the bar is. Most tables were occupied when we dined there. As for the food, when we finally got it, the fish taco was excellent! Two of us had it and were so impressed. I also had a shrimp taco, which was good. Prices for the food were relatively moderate, and I would say overall it's affordable. I loved the Zion Brewery choices on draft, and got a sampler of 3 of those. They also had a Modelo special, I think it was $3 for 24 oz. Alcohol prices were fairly affordable. There is a candy display near the register where you can purchase sweets from a local business. We were there May 1, and they had a sign on the front door that masks are optional. It was the first time here for all of us, and it's unfortunate that we had such a negative experience as far as service. But the fish taco was one of the best I've ever had. So there's that.
