We recently visited Cafe Sabor and had mixed feelings overall. The staff was genuinely friendly, welcoming, and provided excellent service throughout our meal. They were attentive and kind, although things seemed a little disorganized at times. Unfortunately, the food was the biggest disappointment. If you're looking for authentic Mexican food, this isn't it. The menu felt very Americanized, and most of the dishes lacked flavor. I ordered the sweet pork nachos, which were underwhelming and needed much more seasoning. My sister-in-law ordered the grilled chicken tortilla soup. We expected shredded chicken, but instead it tasted like pre-cooked grilled chicken tossed into the broth whole, and it just wasn't very good. Another person in our group had the Chipotle burrito, which was okay but nothing memorable. On the other hand, another person in our party ordered a protein bowl and absolutely loved everything about it, saying it had a delicious flavor. The kids' meals came with dinosaur nuggets and fries. The nuggets were a bit burnt but still edible, and the free Creamies ice cream bar included with the meal was a nice surprise and definitely a highlight for the kids. Passing through on a trip and it looked like the best restaurant near the hotel. After being in the car for 8 hours, we were all looking forward to some hearty food. I decided on the vegetarian burrito and my girlfriend got the shrimp enchiladas. Speaking from someone who cooks and considers themselves a foodie, the size of the rito was good but the flavoring was lacking. I didn't try my girlfriend's enchiladas because of my allergy, but it looked good and she said she enjoyed it. The chips and salsa were also just good. The fried ice cream we got wasn't fried and was a large glob of ice cream with cinnamon sugar dust and a load of caramel around it. Extremely sweet, but great and felt deserved after the drive. Our server seemed nice but wasn't the quickest with our requests. Clean restaurant and the outside seating was peaceful. If we're traveling through again, we'll probably head here. read more

There is a distinction between authentic Mexican food and Americanize Mexican food. This was better than expected for Americanized. Drinks were tasty. Salsa was spicy but chips are not house made. I had the chilli verde burrito. Green sauce flavor was good, portion since was solid for price. They use real cheese not queso. I saw quite a few bad reviews for service. I didn't see that at all, not just at our table. Folks were hustling and doing there job adequately. read more

We went in today for taco Tuesday. We ordered six tacos for the two of us of which two were fish tacos two Asada tacos and the other two were the pork. The fish tacos were dried up some consisting of some kind of deep fry fried cheap thing they called fish. The Asada tacos had no flavor. The meat was bland. It was obviously stored in a container since noon we came in at 3 PM. The pork had no flavor as well. The tortillas were cold and stiff. I always enjoy going to the restaurant in St. George where it's always a different experience and a positive one it's been the second time or third time we've been to the Cedar city restaurant and it's terrible every time. Was so surprised and happy to see that Cafe Sabor has a spot in Cedar City now! We stopped in for lunch with the kiddos and had a great meal. The staff were friendly and quick to get us a table. After lots of chips and salsa (their salsa is great!) the meal was more than we could get through. Leftovers the next day are just as great though -- so we were happy for a couple of days. read more

I noticed this place while I was in Cedar City as it's close to a number of the hotels. I was told they had recently just opened, so I decided to try it out. The place is nice inside and the service was very friendly and attentive, but I didn't actually care for the way the food was prepared all that much. I ordered the shrimp enchiladas, which goes for $16. The enchiladas were quite spicy as there was a strong green jalapeno type sauce used in the dish. Traveling to Cedar city for work often and find myself in this place very frequently. Food is great, service is fast and friendly, beer is cheap. Chips and salsa flows non-stop (chips made in house). While waiting again for another 15 min all the other tables got their tacos!!! Mind u those tables had only been seated maybe 20 min total‍‍. So finally fed up I walked up to the bar asked for the check and proceeded to tell them how unsatisfied I was and they only took off my 3 $2 dollar tacos and proceeded to blame the kitchen. I've been in the food service industry and I also know here in Utah by law u can't comp or take off alcohol but u can food and for it to not even be offered was ridiculous. Busy place. Lots of selection on the menu. Our waiter "Walter" helped us with all of our selections and was very friendly! The food was very good but different than what we were used to. My chili relleno and crispy sweet pork taco were great. My hubby didn't care for the sweet pork on his taco salad. The chili verde was excellent according to our friends. After dinner we were surprised with a yummy free dessert of fried ice cream with caramel sauce to celebrate their birthday!!! It was so yummy!!
