I made a reservation over 2 months ago for a group of 24, ended up being 20, at Cafe Sabor. The person that took it was polite, asked if we could use the stairs and what time. Nothing was said about the group being too large. We have eaten there and saw other large groups and thought to call you for ours. We came, on time, for the reservation last evening. It was for 6:30. Everything was great! The server kept us all taken care of but something happened with half our group getting their meal 10-15 minutes before the other half. Even with that, two of us had to wait 5 more minutes for theirs. The servers did the best they could and I could tell but I did ask if there was a problem. The server apologized, said she turned the order in together, but somehow there was a delay. She offered to comp us with a dessert which I told her wasn't necessary. About 5 min later the "manager" approached us and said "I was told you had a question for the manager". We did not ask for her at all. She proceeded to tell us that our reservation should not have been taken, that you don't do large groups and that you were busy so that's why our food was so late. She was quite angry which made everything very awkward. We were never upset, well not until her outburst, and were actually eating at the time. It was completely unnecessary for her to talk to us at all. All we can think was she didn't want to comp the dessert. The server came back and we asked her if we got her in trouble for asking where our food was and she said no, she just had to get permission to comp for the dessert and actually talked us into getting it. We all shared it, and it was delicious, We are from out of town and are here for a small family reunion. Two of us have been to Cafe Sabor multiple times on other trips and love it, so talked everyone in to coming. We bragged about you guys, your service and especially the food. After the incident I doubt that any of them will want to come back. It wasn't the late food, the server or quality but about how we were treated after asking a simple question of our server which caused the "manager" to come to the table. I emailed this, never got a reply. No one ever apologized for how we were treated. We dined on Wed June 11, at 6:30. We were upstairs sitting in the tables along the wall a cross from the bar. I hope we hear from someone from Cafe Sabor Justin, Thank you for replying! I'm so glad I was right about the type of service Cafe Sabor is known for and that this was a random unhappy employee. I'm unimpressed. We were seated at a noisy table upstairs and our service took our drink and food order. We got our drinks relatively quickly but we waited more than 45 minutes for our food to arrive. By then, the upstairs dining area (by the bar) were pretty emptied out. The food was just okay. We're just not sure why there's always a crowd outside. What's the draw? It can't be the service or the food. The bar? Probably. read more

From the time we walked in with Johnathan greeting us with a smile. Place was packed had a party of like 12 in front of us but they took the two of us right away. Matt was kind as well and brought our coctail out with a smile . There was another young man that helped as well and gave us great advise about parking at the amphitheater. The food was top notch. Wish we had you guys in Vegas. My husband had carne asada burrito with the rice and beans on the side and i got the chicken taco salad. To die for. Excellent place! We loved everything. We tried the nachos and queso as appetizers. They were excellent. I enjoyed my Chipotle salad. My kids loved the kids menu. Clean place. Staff is wearing masks. I have say that they do not socially distance well in the entry. You might want to just make sure they have your name as you wait for a table and then tell them you'll be outside. There is a Bluebird Café chocolate stand just inside the door. Be sure to check out their seafoam candy. So many good selections to take home. Incredible salsa. Not for the faint hearted. Excellent shrimp ceviche and citrus shrimp salad. The veggies were grilled crisp tender. Tip: ask for a side of their awesome salsa to pour over your shrimp citrus salad. The original dressing for the salad is light, lightly sweet, but I thought the salsa would be a great addition to the shrimp and vegetables. That salsa has a kick and it is very delicious. The burritos are huge. Service was great. Our server even handled the picky eaters well and remembered all of the items they asked to be omitted from their plates. 02/26/25...birthday gathering of 12; nice, open basement seating...I was the forgotten Cerveza (had to ask twice) and, when everyone was half done with their meals, was the poor soul that still had nothing on the table (seriously, it'd been quite a bit). One'd think that a very empty spot in front of a guest would be a glaring omission. Ah, no. I was patient...very patient. I tracked down our server and politely declined my order as having everyone watch me eat never is appealing..."it'll be out in a sec"...again, ah...no...in spite of my request, the order was brought out just as we left in to-go form (since I'd ordered a beer yada yada...it's Utah)...but all at the table were not offered to-go container-so wife tracked one down from the open adjacent service room (staff did bring some more on request)...personally, I don't ever complain but should have left mine at the table as I don't recommend trusting any food after any food/service complaint but you do you. We've been there four times on invites...sorry, no fifth. Please don't get me wrong, our servers were ALL very personable but, yikes, not good. The "buck" stops (look it up GenZ'ers) with management. We came from out of town while visiting the St. George hospital. This place was recommended by a hospital staff member. My 3 guests thoroughly enjoyed the mixed drinks and margaritas. Usually I have low expectations for Mexican food whenever I visit St. George. Cafe Sabor was a pleasant surprise. The restaurant is two levels with a large dining area on the first floor and a bar and tables on the second floor. We sat at the bar area and I was delighted to see a very decent list of beers on tap. In fact, the prices were quite reasonable at $3.50 for a pint and $5 for 22 oz pour. Also, who can complain about $3 margaritas on Fridays? The food was good, but I would not characterize it as anything remotely authentic. I ordered the taco salad, which was a huge portion and veggies and guac were very fresh. The chicken was tasty, but reminded me more of a pulled chicken bbq style. My wife ordered the carne asada street tacos and liked them so much, she ordered a second round. The service was very good and a nice change compared to other restaurants that are severely short staffed right now. What a jewel of a find! Reminds me of CA but in a GREAT WAY!! We ordered their Thursday special.... burrito with drink for $6.50... huuuuuuge!! It filled up the whole plate from 1 end to another! We ordered shredded beef burrito and I ordered the vegetable burrito.... yummy yummy yum!! They also gave us huge basket of chips and 2 flavors of salsa... mild and medium... I like the medium, of course.... we literally FINISHED the chips and ordered 2nd.... it was just as huge.... So the word is that the owner is the chef and he's cooking up his mother's authentic recipes... There's also a bar upstairs for anyone wanting to add beer and/or margaritas to their meal.... Another tip that's going to make us come back?? Their fajita special on Fridays and Saturdays is 2 people portion for only about $20!! Oh yeah... we're going back!! It's ok and the bummer is it could be great. Server came took drink order, came back took order a bit later. Got food first, then drinks a bit after. I think the food might have a decent flavor but it's drowned in their red or green "sauce" which seems more like red or green colored water. Problem is they drown the food in it so everything is just sooooo soggy. Might be good if they cared about what they serve. So many other better places in town read more

I used to just LOVE this place, but the service has plummeted. Hostess was really put seating us at dirty table. Server was the worst. Brought one packet of sugar and one packet of sweet and low for my iced tea. I asked her to bring additional sweetener and she "was confused". Then refilled the iced tea - no ice. This place was really busy when I drove past it one night, so I thought I'd give it a try. It has a pretty nice atmosphere, with upstairs seating available. We originally met t Cafe Sabor in Logan Utah and became immediate fans. Not so much anymore - at least not of the one in St George. Went there today after taking a year long sabbatical and it will be another good two years before we go back. The food just plain doesn't taste good. I asked for a tostada; it came out on a small salad plate, no flavor, and had grey, runny ground beef. My husband had a pork quesadilla and was very disappointed. Too bad!! read more

I have tried to love this place and I just can't find what to order that's good. I have probably dined here six times since they opened. I would call this American Mexican food. The employees are always really nice. The servers work really hard. It is a fun atmosphere. The only thing I have liked is the nachos. I'm just too picky with my Mexican food I suppose. I felt like the salsa and chips were very bland. The Carne Asada/steak was tough to cut. Choked a little bit because it could not be broken down. Love Cafe Sabor! The atmosphere and style is modern and fun. They have great specials for every day of the week listed when you first walk in. They also have a fun place you can watch their tortillas being made. And of course complimentary chips and salsa (a must have for any Mexican Restaurant). Waitlist was accurate on the time and we waiting about 40 minutes for 2 on a Saturday night during President's Day weekend. Their waitlist is through Yelp was great because you could see your place in line and estimated wait. Once we were sat our waitress quickly got our drink order and brought out some chips and salsa. They have a hot salsa and mild salsa which both have completely different flavors so I recommend trying both. Chips were also warm which makes them so much better. We ordered the Saturday Special which was a Fajita for two with your choice of meat (we went with steak). While we were waiting or food our waitress brought us out more servings of chips and salsa which was great (she was very attentive). Fajita looked and tasted great. The special gave us both our own plate of beans, rice, guacamole, sour cream, pico, cheese, lettuce, and three tortillas. Shared between us was a large plate of fajita veggies (red/green peppers, onions, zucchini) and steak. My son and I went to dinner at Cafe Sabor. This was my second time there. The first time we went, we were seated upstairs. The food and service was pretty good. This last week when we went, we were seated downstairs. Our waiter was a young nice gentlemen being trained by another worker, who stood beside him, as our waiter took our order. All was going well, the food was pretty good but then the trainer employee that was with our waiter came up to us and said, "I'm sorry, but we have a table of ten coming in, I hate to rush you but..." My son was still enjoying his beverage and had about a half of glass left. My son replied, "we're about done can you give me about 5 minutes?' The employee said, "sorry, we have a party of ten coming". What? We will never go back there again! I've never in my life been asked to leave a table like this.. We were there, maybe, a little over an hour. The only reason that a tip was left was because of the new trainee waiter, he was very nice and accommodating! I'm writing this because I hope the manager reads it and learns. The employee could have offered us another table or JUST waited 5 minutes? Great food and great service. The Yelp waitlist app screwed up and cancelled our place in line and the staff moved tables and chairs to make accommodations for us. The Friday $3 margaritas were tasty and I loved the Tequila lime pasta with shrimp. It was definitely better than the Tequila lime pasta with chicken a member of our party tried which was a little dry and bland. Very attentive staff and overall great customer experience.
