This review reflects COVID-19 conditions* I'm a Weekly customer in Salt Lake for work lunches. Ordered to go here four times in the last few weeks as I had some gift cards that were expiring. They have a pretty good pickup system in place now. First time ordered on site, right after doors closed and everything was fine. The first time order ahead experience was fine, except they forgot the drinks we bought. Went the following day and called in our order and was told there was nothing they could do about the forgotten drinks the day before. Second time service was good, except I Learned that the app wait time is off (longer wait than actual) so food is not fresh if you a arrive when app tells you to arrive. Most recent time called in and ordered, arrived and they couldn't find our order... the girl on the phone wrote "Bosa" for the name instead of "Elsa" so we waited about 10 additional minutes for the order to get sorted and received less than fresh food, and a simple apology... can I get my tip back? The lemonade with the order was not the fresh lemonade they make, but what something like diet Tropicana fountain drink lemonade- quite a waste. (Not worth driving back to get sorted out), and the food did not look like it would have looked when I would order in person (ie, enchilada not fully covered in sauce. Food is still good, but there seems to be an issue half the time. Lots of new high school employees doing their best, but you don't get the costa vida best right now. Btw- had a gift card and you can't order through app with gift card. So I had to call in. If you call, Make sure they repeat your order if you order back to you! They're doing their best, and food is good, if you get what you ordered, but I think we'll crave it a best less in the coming weeks. read more

I stopped here on a road trip recently for a quick bite. I walked in (wearing a mask of course!) and was surprised to see a pleasant dining room and lots of good menu options. It's similar to Chipotle, in that the person will make you a bowl, burrito or salad plate and you can point and add toppings as needed. I tried a salad bowl and did it with the sweet pork, some beans and lots of toppings. Unfortunately, it was kind of meh; the pork wasn't great and the overall salad was kind of limp. I wish I could try it again as there were probably better options on the menu. For now, I would give it a miss and find other options. read more

I like this location. I've always had good experiences here. I prefer the food over Café Rio as it seems to have much more flavor. My new favorite is the nachos with sweet pork. My kids like eating here as well. read more

This Costa hands down is our favorite. We always get great service and food from the staff who actually look like they enjoy work being that the majority are high schoolers. John the manager always has a smile on and makes sure we get taken care of. Not many managers will work along side they're employees as hard as he does. Give this man more money! He works a lot of hours and gives his all no matter what mood he may be feeling. He is always smiling. It's hard to find good people like him and when you find them, reward them. Time and time again, this location shorts you on meat and then is ride when you ask for what is fair.

Although I had some concerns on last visit. They did follow up and resolve which was appreciated

Not recommended this location. I love costa Vida. But The staff here is rude, not professional at all. Totally makes me feel uncomfortable and not welcome. And the food is not taste as good as other location. Not coming back here again. read more

Saturday, April 26th. 2:30PM. My 14-year-old is gluten intolerant, the rest of us aren't. She's really limited on what she can and will eat. A chicken salad from Costa Vida with their raspberry chipotle dressing works well for her and she eats it often. When you request a gluten-free salad, Costa Vida goes out of their way to avoid cross-contamination. It means a lot to gluten-sensitive people. My 17-year-old and I wanted Smashburger. We had a narrow window of time as my youngest was at Juan Diego for a dance competition. I gave my daughter my card and dropped her off to eat alone. Felt bad but My oldest and I weren't in the mood for Costa Vida. When I came back, my 14-year-old said that when she asked for a gluten-free salad, the server was super put out and made the most skimpy, pathetic salad she has ever had. Other salads before and after her's had generous portions and looked great. If you're going to have gluten-free menu items on your menu, you shouldn't be put out when asked to make one. Moreover, sticking it to a 14-year-old, knowing you can get away with it because there isn't an adult nearby is really lousy! Had I had time when I picked her up, I would have gone in to speak with a manager. We're regulars at the East Sandy location but only by virtue of my 14-year-old's condition and silly palette. John is the man!!! I've been coming to the costa vida in Draper since I moved in the area. This location is the best hands down. I've been to the Murray, sandy, and foothill and I'll make an extra drive for this location: first off it's clean, staff actually enjoy working here, and above all John the GM is freaking amazing! We eat here a lot not only because the food is good. But the staff is really friendly and they clean so much! They pick up the trays, take out the garbage when it's getting full, and the food line, well they are always wiping the counters down. I've never seen a gm in any costa vida (not even their competitors) work the line. Working side by side next to their employees. John even motivates his employees, he also says things like "great job" if you have a special order (like I do, I can't eat cheese) he communicates to his staff next to him she said no cheese. John is extremely friendly, I see him working all the time, I hope he takes time off. Today, I did a half marathon and I was walking a little funny and John asked if I was ok?! Who does that? You know who? GMs that value their frequent customers. This man deserves more money. I hope he is being taken care of. Hey management! I would highly recommend John train other locations. Worst experience i've ever had at a Costa Vida. Terrible customer service and the staff was very disorganized. Ordered a Pork quesadilla and ended up just being cheese. After calling to get a refund they still could not figure out how to do anything and I ended up not receiving one. 10/10 would not recommend. read more

This place has really grown on me! I used to be a die hard cafe rio snob, but to be honest Costa Vida had up' d their game and I actually like it better than rio now! The queso is delicious and the sweet pork is amazing. Also the nachos are super underrated! We got them with beef and extra meat and they were yummy and big enough to share. On March 23 I placed an ordered from the draper location I ordered 5 kids meals and didn't receive my kids cinnamon and sugar tortillas for the second time after I specifically asked for them to not forget them again because my kids love them well even though I asked the employee if he got everything and double checked I didn't have them in the bag then I spoke to Morgan who was very nice and told me for the inconveniences he's give me two free meals the next time , today March 28 I placed and order for 2 nachos 3 burritos and a kids meal and I specifically asked the lady who took my order to not forget anything and to double-check and she repeated my order back to me correctly once I got there they didn't even have my order ready or they lost it or whatever it took extra long , I asked for everything to be on the nachos besides peco and when you first look at the nachos they look barre just a little bit of sprinkle cheese come to find out she put a tiny bit of meat underneath them which makes no sense why the meat is under the chips and nothing's on them then they forgot my cinnamon and sugar tortilla again after I specifically asked a guy named Cruz if he double-checked which by the way he was a very nice guy so yeah long story short the employees need to just slow down and pay attention to their orders one at a time please ... read more

I've always had a good experience at this location! It doesn't seem to be as crazy busy as some of the other locations and it's always clean and easy to find seating. They've never messed up my meal and the staff has been friendly. I definitely crave the tres leches and I've never had them run out of the cake or the strawberries for it like I've experienced at other places. read more

This is a new love for me. I used to be a die hard Cafe Rio fan until I found this place. Friendlier staff, cleaner kitchen area, and shorter lines. Costa Vida was on the menu for our dinner tonight, and it didn't disappoint. My two kids and I ordered a smothered sweet pork burrito for dinner to share. The line was nice and short, so we got our food ordered and made really quickly. John, the manager on shift was so kind and saw that my hands were slightly full, so he offered to take our meal tray to our table. It was such a welcome surprise. Dinner was yummy--definitely enough for all of us. The guacamole was fresh, which made everything event better. We'll be going back-so glad it is close to our home. read more

My husband and I stopped here for a quick take out dinner. Usually we like Costa Vida, but this experience is making us reconsider going back to Cafe Rio. It was only 5 pm, and they ran out of cheese. OUT OF CHEESE. In a mexican restaurant. To top it off, the manager, kind of joking with us, said that it was good that we came at that time and not earlier, because they had run out of rice earlier. Seriously? Wasn't happy with the options, but they'd already started our meals before telling us they were out of cheese, so we felt like we had to continue with the order. I always try and defend Costa Vida against Cafe Rio lovers when they say that it is not as good. I never had a bad experience with the Costa Vida in Cedar City so I decided to go here for dinner tonight. I got the pork salad. It had barely any meat on it. You could say it had barely anything on it at all. My mom got the pork enchiladas which also had barely any meat, her black beans were bland (I think black beans are always bland but "whatever you say, Mom") and her tortillas were undercooked. I have gone to several different costa vidas all over the state. I've never had a bad experience and in fact enjoy cost vida over any other "Mexican grill" that is similar. (Big fan here) However this locations was absolutely ridiculous. They burned both of my kids quesadillas to the point that they didn't even want to eat them. They didn't even give the kids heir cinnamon tortillas. They put about 1oz of grilled chicken on mine and my hubs "large" salads (what a joke). I asked for just pico instead of dressing. Usually the pico was zesty enough but their pico was pretty much diced un-ripe tomatoes!! Eew! I know I'm going off but I'm not over exaggerating. Don't go here. Save yourself the trouble and go to another location or the cafe rio that's just down the street. read more

The food is good. The service was fast and the staff friendly. They didn't have that many workers there, but I was in, out, and on my way.

I ordered the steak burrito and shredded beef smothered. It was great and fresh tasting. I think this is the only one open on Sunday.
