I have been very impressed with the Costa Vida in Brigham City. It is so clean! They have an employee who is just there to ckean tables, sweep the floors, clean the pop/napkin area and keep things stocked. It is so nice to go into a restaurant and not be disgusted by how dirty everything is. Even the food line is kept wiped up and tidy. The owner/manager of Cafe Rio in BC needs to take some lessons. I visited the Costa Vida restaurant in Brigham City the other day and I felt like I needed to comment on how great of a visit I had. The service was spot on. Starting with the ordering process, the crew were very friendly and patient, and seemed to really care about getting my order correct. I really like seeing my tortilla rolled out and cooked fresh, my order was prepared just how I requested it and the food was delicious. They have a cool fountain drink area. Picked up lunch so we could eat at my house. Decided to go inside because of bad experiences at the drive-thru (chintzy portions and lettuce with cores). Ordered three of the small sweet pork salads. The tortillas used to cover the bottom and sides of the bowls. The tortilla barely covered the bottom of the pan. Watched them put a lot of rice and beans and a very tiny portion of meat. We looked at each other and commented out loud-Wow! chintzy. He totally skipped the cheese and moved to add a huge portion of lettuce. I told him I wanted cheese and the cheese was as chintzy as the meat. We said we wanted all the toppings and had to tell him that he skipped the pico. Huge disappointment. $3.00 drinks! Seriously? 5 cents worth of soda and the drinks are $3.00. I will never return to Costa Vida. I'll go to Cafe Rio next time or even Taco Bell or Taco Time. Almost $10 for a really crappy salad. Nope! If I could give half a star, I would. When I came in earlier this evening with my lady the restaurant was virtually empty yet there was a strange sense of disjointed chaos among the five or six people behind the counter. The majority of them were congregated by the register where no one was being served. We hit in line to order and I asked the closest worker if they had salads. He nodded and I said I'd like one. First thing he does is fill a pan with a tortilla. Then he asked me what kind of beans I want. I say retried beans. He spoons in a beige soupy substance that has no beans in it onto the tortilla and then stares at me blankly. I ask for rice, chicken and black beans since there were no beans in the beige slop. He obliged and then slide my dish in front of an unmanned salad station. My girl orders a bowl - is offered the same choices and then asked what kind of sauce she wants. I realize at this point that I have a sauce option. Ok now it gets really weird. So the dude takes her dish and runs it through some kind of oven. I never see him again to ask him about my sauce options. Meantime the 6 or seven people behind the counter are not in the station where the only customers in the store are waiting for their dishes to be expedited. To make matters worse there are two other employees in line getting served their food while we, the only paying customers in line are being ignored. Finally a person makes it to the salad station only to grab a plate of an employees tacos, put some lettuce on it, drop them salad tongs in the salsa, shake it off and put it back in the lettuce, stare at me self consciously and then walk away still leaving my dish and my lady's dish in limbo. I stood for about another minute watching the two employees in line get their food and then took my woman's hand and promptly walked right out the door. WTF! Get it together folks! read more

I've had the privilege of eating here multiple times in the past year; and only had one instance of them getting my order wrong. The burritos, nachos, protein bowls, quesadillas, enchiladas, and salads are all great. Seems like they've been hit by the labor shortage like everyone else so it might take a little bit longer to get your food. As far as some of the other reviews saying the food was cold and had no taste--did you talk to management? I mean the food is all cooked and hot when you get it; and everything I've had has tasted great here. One time this business was closed so I had to go to Cafe-Rio to get my nacho fix and I'll never get nachos anywhere else but Costa Vida. I've only given them 4 stars because they can improve their drive through times in my opinion and I can't give them 4.5 stars. read more

Worst Costa experience. The general manager was there today so you would think it would have been a better experience than usual but nope. The portion sizes of everything we ordered was like half of any other time we have eaten at ANY Costa Vida. When I ask the manager about it she told me it looked to her like there was more food on our plates than it should be. Like WTF?? Then that manager went to get my daughter's quesadilla off the stove (which had been on there way too long at this point) and instead of redoing the quesadilla when she could clearly see it was hard as a rock (she couldn't even get it to fold over so she forced it after several tries) she just slapped that hard thing onto my daughters plate. The so-called on-duty manager was hanging out in the employee area by the cash register the entire time I was waiting in line (12 minutes), wandering around not really doing anything. Then when I expressed that his line was extremely dirty, his answer was: "yeah, well... we've been really busy"... Instead of "I apologize, I'll get right on that"... To be clear the food is not bad, but with this last trip this location has gotten into the "check your offer every time" category. Unfortunately the kind of food doesn't always make that possible. They are REALLY OFF THEIR GAME TODAY! I think the employees were finishing up their Christmas party when we walked in. The blond lady, looks like an owner or boss,, making my burrito had no clue. She was literally ripping tortillas apart from a stack that was all stuck together, instead of getting a new package!! I asked for a sweet pork burrito with no rice and a little black beans. I watched her load it up with rice and she ignored me when I mentioned it. Then my burrito got mixed up with someone else's. I got a burrito that pretty much had almost no meat, ALL rice and plenty of pinto beans. On top of that the rice wasn't even remotely cooked and neither were the beans. So all said and done I got a burrito that I didn't order and it wasn't even edible! When I went back to talk to them everyone mysteriously "disappeared." That just pissed me off. I don't care for Mexican food, or at least the way it's cooked above the border. Too much sauce, cheese, sauce, sauce, sauce...so being able to choose how much of what went into my food as it was being prepared was great! I've eaten Mexican food in Mexico, and ironically it is typically lighter than "US Mexican." Costa Vida brought back those memories. If anything it was overwhelming trying to make a choice. Portion sizes are HUGE; unless you are one very hungry person, get the smaller size of everything. If you still have room after eating the smaller size, go back for more. It didn't take long to get our meals made in this cafeteria style environment. I had a steak burrito, but will be back to try one of the yummy looking salads. read more

I walk into costa vida every time and wish it was more than it is. Don't get me wrong, the food is amazing, and if you're lucky enough to stop in at a less than busy time the experience isn't bad. Unfortunately the employees are what make this a 2 star rating. Almost every time I've stopped by there is employees standing around talking, orders waiting much too long to be served, employees giving patrons extra portions for free late at night so they can close early when they run out of food. I feel sad for Coasta Vida. It's competition just moved in a block away. They need to clean up their act. Start by the disgusting back door with trash boxes and food in the curb. You sit in the drivethru waiting and wondering what the inside of the building looks like. Then a couple weeks ago a guy was frantically working the window and he took my debit card and returned it with refried beans all over it and touched my hand with his bean covered gloves and I got beans all over me. Was hopeful that our first experience at this Costa Vida was just a busy night and thats why our food was cold and our online order wasn't ready until 45 minutes after it was supposed to be ready. We gave them another chance tonight at a less busy time and the customer service and food was even worse this time. Ordered pork tacos and there was literally no meat in our tacos. We took them back up to the counter where they informed us that nearly no meat on a taco is the correct amount and sorry for the inconvenience but that's just how it is. After reading a couple of other reviews this is clearly the policy at this costa vida. Normally we prefer costa vida over cafe rio but we won't be giving this one another chance. read more
