I always spend over 200 bick to highlight my hair the past year I have started to use the online booking because its it's supposed to be easy, especially when you are at work and busy, not with cost cutter they waited until I walked in to tell me they dont have the time to my hair because I have a lot it. I have had many stylists in my life, some really good, some ok, and some (mostly at high end salons) who did not listen at all and did what they wanted to do. I can tell Sable is a natural. Lexi did a great job. After having short hair for practically forever I decided to grow it out, it was going great till I hit a more awkward stage but Lexi fixed it right up!! CINDY is the best! I will not cut my hair with anyone else. She also colored my hair. She's cut my hair a few times. Earlier this year I made a mistake to cut my hair with Steve, I believe is his name and I almost cried when I got home. It was awful. I'm an introvert so I was afraid to say anything but my husband told me to call and tell them to fix it. I asked for Cindy because she had cut my hair before. She fixed it. One thing I love and appreciate about her is that she can read people. Or at least she can read me and Doesn't small talk to me. I get nervous with small talk at grocery stores or hair salons. I contacted this location because they are close to home and I miss my curls. I called and spoke with Shawna about getting a perm. Because of the length of my hair, I knew it would cost more but she said the Specialty Perm was $89.99 and there would be an additional $10.00 because of the length - great! She needed to ask the stylist that would be available if they knew how to do a piggy-back perm and they said yes. As she was coming back to the phone, the manager (Sage) told her to let me know if would cost double ($89.99 * 2) but they would waive the $10.00 fee for the length and cut would be included. I decided that was too much money and just booked an appointment for a cut. Called back approximately 90-minutes later to schedule the perm. Sage, the manager (I use the term loosely), got on the phone and told me that they could not do the perm on the day I was already scheduled because the person has not done this type of perm since school and they weren't comfortable doing them. Asked what the difference was because a perm is a perm. He told me again that the stylist was not comfortable and then told me this salon was not going to be the right choice for me. Imagine my surprise when I am trying to spend $175.00 (roughly) in your location and you tell me to go someplace else. Could not believe this would be his response or any businesses response. If that is the case, stop telling people you do perms and take it off your website. Clearly your staff is not capable of doing this service and you can make more money off flipping the chair 10 times @ $20.99 a cut versus me sitting in your chair for 3-hours. Good business practice Sage; I will be sure to let everyone know about your location and direct them to other places because your customer service skills are lacking. On an upside, Shawna was very nice and answered all my questions. Maybe she should manage this location because she clearly understands customer service, customer satisfaction and how to get butts in the seat. Good luck to you Sage. read more

My 5 year old daughter got her first hair cut for kindergarten. We wanted to donate her hair. After a friend searched forever for a place that could cut hair to the requirements we came across Cost Cuters. All the staff was super knowledgeable about the process and made everything go smoothly. Everyone was friendly and had the patience to work with little ones that constantly move during their hair cut. My daughter cut off 18 inches of hair and got an adorable long bob hair cut for her first day of school and wigs for kids got 18 inches of hair donation. Thanks to the staff for helping my daughters first hair cut memorable. overall it wasn't a terrible experience. the front desk person was VERY welcoming and kind to me and that was awesome but Lexi the hairdresser was not very nice or personable at all. she did well on my haircut which is why i rate this place a 3. but when i walked in the place was quiet, no one was talking nor interacting with their clients at all and i thought it was odd especially for an environment like that. usually the other places i have been to have a bubbly and welcoming clientele. read more

I hate giving this location a bad rating. Because several of the stylist's are very good. Michelle is my go to girl for a decent haircut. But today the only employee on duty at 9:27 AM was Steven. When I entered he was at the front desk, where he sat talking on the phone for 10 minutes. He didn't greet me. I was the only customer. My time meant nothing. He finally checked me in. I have short hair. It needed shaping, badly. I gave him very specific instructions about my hair habits, cut preference etc. He instead gave me some sort of boy's haircut with it all sticking up like a pineapple. I began to panic at the horrible cut. He then blamed my cowlick, the last stylist and finally told me "he could not work a miracle". His last excuse was "if I would use products in my hair, I could fix it." Huh?? His lack of people skills EXCEEDED his lack of hair cutting skill. I will not return. Ever. read more

As I have just moved to Phoenix and haven't had time to scout out a hairstylist, when I needed a haircut for an upcoming trip I got on Yelp and located the nearest salon. I was a bit nervous about what I would get for $14.50, but it's just hair and mine grows back with the quickness. I called, made an appointment and a couple hours later I was in the chair. Now I for one am not good at giving direction. I know what I want, but articulating it can be a bit of a challenge so I just give some guidance and tell them to do what they think will look good... again, it's just hair. I did just that with Alexis and it was like she read my mind. She used a razor vs clippers, which I prefer, and she really got in there and went to work on the layers. I used to go to a VERY expensive salon. It cost about $55 for a haircut. Now I go to Michelle at this Cost Cutters. She is amazing and at less than $15 for a haircut...well worth it! I have my hair double processed for color and what would have cost between $200 and 300 at the other place costs me around $80 here and I have very long hair! She was on the phone and gestured for me to sign in, which I did. We then decided to walk out since the customer service and urgency of the one hairdresser working and absolutely no one else in there getting a cut or even waiting, wasn't concerned to help anyone but herself. I don't know why I never looked at this location before but thanks to the yelp reviews I decided to give it a try for a little trim. I was welcomed by Lindsay who took my information and I had a 20 minute wait but thankfully they have a lot of magazines :) Lindsay did a great job of listening to what I wanted. She took off exactly what I asked for and it looked a million times better than I had anticipated. The haircut and wash came out to be around $16 and that was the best haircut I've had in a long time that was cheaper than my normal $60 cut. I appreciate Lindsay and will definitely be back. I appreciate that she was OK with me being not so chatty but she was extremely friendly and chatty with the person before me. I was very unsatisfied with the service I received. They were rude and acted like it was killing them to simply cut my hair. I know I have long but seriously it's thin! Michelle exceeded my expectations! My Mom is very tough to please because she has very fine, soft hair. She looks and feels amazing! This Cost Cutters has been here a while, it has had its ups and downs while the staff is friendly they are crippled by the outdated storefront. Their Debit/Credit machine is quite indecisive on when it wants to work in general its just outdated. For a walk in hair place they are always "booked up" after 4pm how ever that works. If this is your only hair place in a hard spot you should call ahead and take cash! read more

I've been going to Cost Cutters since 2005, I make my appointments once a month or more. They have been great to me & my hair! I have long,fine, colored hair. So they help me along suggesting protein conditioning, frequent trimmings & styles, I'm over the age of 50 & my hair looks & feels healthy. I tell my beautician often that I really don't know what I would do without her.
