Love this place! I'm so glad I found it - my son's 18" needed its rusted chain possibly removed and while waiting outside to observe social distancing, we were soon invited inside. The store was full of nice bikes of all shapes and sizes, though it's not a terribly large space, and had gadgets, gears, and apparels - a very thorough bike shop to my quick glance. After a bit, the owner took a look and put something on the chain and rotated the pedal quickly a few times, and checked couple other places too including alignment and inflating the tires. He then told me the chain doesn't need to be replaced because it's still good and that he put teflon on it so it should be okay. Very quick and efficient yet attentive service with explanations - just the way I'd want my bike repair shop to be! The reviews are not wrong - these guys know what they're doing, and will do honest business with you. I'm definitely coming here for my next bike purchase both for myself and my son! I came again to fix a flat and I must say John the owner is very nice and knowledgeable. He convinced me to upgrade my tire treads to Continental gatorskins because he said they will save me money in the long run from getting flats because I had two flats within two weeks I trusted him and they've been great so far. I'd been having trouble shifting my gears at the time and for some time and John fixed it right away. Other mechanic I went to a different shop couldn't get it right but John did. Do yourself a favor and get your bike serviced here. They're more expensive than I'm used too but they do good work. read more

Went by today and they happened to be open on MLK holiday. Spoke to Craig and the lovely pup mascot while I was sorting out a small maintenance issue. Everyone here was super friendly and totally different from the experience I get in bicycle shops in NYC-Manhattan. Having commuted daily for a year on road bike (25 miles each day, ~400 days) I've run through a multitude of bike shops and few are as professional and friendly as Cosmic Wheels. I will be back. I visited several bike shops closer to my house before deciding to go with this one. The staff are way more knowledgable than at the other shops in the area, and way more ethical too -- notice that most of the (few) Yelp complaints about them are about them not selling things to folks that they don't need. Even though I'd prefer not having to drive over the GW bridge to get to them, I do anyway because these things are super important when dealing with expensive devices that don't actually confer any benefit if you don't enjoy using them, and that can cause injury if not assembled and maintained correctly. This analogy might only make sense to folks in the tech industry, but basically John and Craig are like devops guys but for bikes. Way overqualified for their jobs and super opinionated, but in a highly useful way. I ended up getting a way better bike from them than I would have if left to my own devices, and for far less money also. (Money that was instead reallocated toward accessories that overall provided a much better experience for the same price.) read more

Hint ; You will need to make an appointment to have this service done, they are pretty busy. They treated my bike as if it was their own. I can tell they actually went thru the whole bike and made the proper adjustments. My bike came out riding as if it was brand new again - So I suggest talking to the owner or dan they are very patient and good with bikes. And don't worry they don't push anything on you to spend more money . Owner &/ Dan are very Easy going kinda guy. I will definitely go back to them - thanks guys read more

The last thing I heard Craig say to others as I was walking out was "He'll probably leave a bad review..." Those words have stuck with me and it might make the title of a great book. I've always believed that reviews should be helpful and objective, and never punitive... I did in fact leave frustrated, but this is a great shop with great people. I commute by bike and was hoping to schedule a service, over an hour or two convenient to them, but I also understand that I needed a somewhat technical repair and the only qualified person had several competing responsibilities during any particular window of opportunity. I also think I caught him on a bad day, but I've also seen how Craig and others there have met the needs of the bike community that are often overlooked by many other high-end shops. They have some serious bikes here for mountain and roadies, but I also see that this is a community hub for cyclists of all ages and interests. They have a BMX following, and I've seen them take care of families buying less expensive bikes. I like that this place is meeting the needs of many different kinds of cyclists, including those that would never consider them the spandex variety of such. I hope one day the bike shop industry / market changes so it can provide higher levels of service to "commuters", but for now, I'll be thankful that John, Craig, and team are successfully performing as "Chief, cook, and bottle washer" to many kinds of riders, even if it wasn't what I needed at the moment I needed it. They have on more than one occasion served me well and gave great recommendations. Craig, if you ever read this, I hope you have a great day and continue to do good. read more

Looked around at purchasing a bike for the first time in a long time to continue my recent weight loss/fitness journey. Researched a few places but came here because just about all of the reviews were positive. Stepping into the shop I was greeted right away although they were extremely busy. The man who spoke to me let me know he would be right with me. Needless to say the next person who approached me was the owner. He gave me suggestions on the type of bike I should buy and then let me know that once the one I liked was built they would call me back in for a fitting. I went back about a week later and walked in around 720. I was fitted. Shown how to use the machine and given tips on what to do when preparing for a ride. It meant a lot that they spent that time with me. In addition Omar fitted my new bike rack onto the back of my car securely and also showed me how to adjust it and gave me some tips on safety. By the time I left it was over an hour later. They closed at 8 and you wouldn't even know because they didn't rush at all. Actually as I was leaving the owner was riding someone's bike down the block because she had purchased it from somewhere else and they didn't fit it to her body so the owner did that for her. My friend who is an avid cyclist recommended I go this shop. I'm having trouble learning how to ride with clips. She said that the people here were very patient and perhaps would let me use their trainer. I don't like to post negative reviews about small shops, but I feel that the employee didn't take me seriously. I guess it was because I told him I've been taking spin class for years and had only owned a hybrid bike for three. I've been doing some online research and thought perhaps I should get a different type of pedal that makes clipping out easier. I explained what I have on my bike and he told me it "was all in (my) head." I asked about different types of shoes. Again, it "was all in (my) head." Then I attempted to ask about practicing on the trainer, and he told me that I "just needed to learn when to brake." He added some comment about remembering that I was clipped in. (Well, duh.) I know when to brake. I may ride a hybrid in "sneakers," but I'm a strong rider. I've taken bike trips overseas and participate in charity rides. I realized that he wasn't interested in helping me at all, so I thanked him and left for REI, where they treat me like a valued customer. I got a similar answer, an explanation why and an offer to bring my bike and shoes in for a proper fitting and match. Too bad the dude at Cosmic wasn't clued in enough to pick up that I'm nervous about clipping in, or maybe he just wanted to mess with me. Hopefully this will be a non-issue with me in a month, but I will always remember the way I felt when I left Cosmic Bike tonight. read more

I really wanted to like this place and call my go-to bike shop for a lifetime, but with every visit I was more and more disappointed. I bought my CAAD10 there about 3 years ago and the service was great from the start. There I met the owner, and the mechanic. They really took their time to help me select a bike that would fit my purpose which it did, and felt right at home. My downfall experience started happening when I would go for some modifications on my bike. I told them I was new to bikes and they understood. As a new road bike enthusiast, I decided to modify my bike with better components. I noticed that they have no other interest in brands besides Shimano or Mavic. If I were to mention Boyd or Williams, They would immediately give you this look as to were to say, "You are dumb for thinking of going with them." They would call it cheap China made products and so on, but from hundreds of hard core riders online, they seem to say the opposite. So I tried to brush this off and not pay too much attention. Then I tried to take some weight off my bike by making it lighter adding carbon components and they would just look at you again with a gaze and say, "You don't need that stuff on your bike." Excuse me?? Last time I remembered, this was MY bike, not yours. I am bringing my bicycle in for you to WORK on and thus get paid to do it, not to tell the customer what to do and not to do. It doesn't matter if he rides competitively or not, a customer should be treated like a customer, not like one of your pals. Like I said, I really wanted to like this place and on my last visit, which was about three weeks ago, I went to get my brake calipers replaced to Shimano 6700 and a tuning if needed. He asks for my number and tells me he will call me when the brakes are in and gives me a quote of around $89.00 with installation included. I wait about a week to follow up on my order. But when I call again I find out that they never processed my order and were claiming to be waiting for my confirmation. Total cost: $220.00. At this time, I just want my bike and don't really have the time to ask for a break down. What they told me is that they would get the brakes at a low price and give me the best price. This WAS not the best price. Cables: $7.99 x2 6700 Calipers: $169.00 Labor: $25.00 Plus tax. Are you kidding me?? The brakes are listed all over the internet for $90! And I get a quote of $89.00. Something is not right here. The nail in the coffin comes in when I'm pulling my bike out of the store...one of the guys says to me condescendingly "Put some miles on that bike will ya?" ?????????????????????????????? I answer, "I will try?" This really ticked me off and I thought of calling them and telling him how I feel. I really thought the owner at least was a sincere person and professional businessman. Maybe he was in the past, but if you pay attention on how his "crew" behave with one another, and how the word professionalism is absent from this bicycle store. There should be a **SNOB ALERT** posted somewhere in the store. I love the bicycle that you sold me. Remember that it's the customer's bicycle, not yours. If the customer wants you to add different components to the bike other than Shimano or Mavic, do not look down on him/her. If you are not going to be happy rendering that service to them, I would suggest you not waste their time nor yours because the customer will sense this. And also, don't ever judge your customer on how he or she rides their bike. Remember, it's their bicycle not yours. I will not be returning to Cosmic Wheel nor referring anyone to this place anymore. I dont usually write reviews but i had to this time. I bought 4 bikes from them over the years. John, the owner, is a great guy but i feel bad for him because he is now surrounded by some wisea$$ workers and techs. Ive had some problems with my hydraulic brake on my new MTB. So I called and mentioned about Burping that everyone knows. This tech either was lying or BSing with me and says he doesn't know what it was, and says to me in condescending tone, "why would u do that?". He went on and told me to bring it in. So i asked if it could be done while im there, and he says in same tone, "yea if i drop everything i was doing i can". There are many different ways to handle customers and this is not it. He could've easily said "sorry we are booked" and i wouldve had no problems. Dear John, in this business, customer service is the key. There are many other great shops in NJ. They spent A LOT of time with me, fitting the bike and making sure it was adjusted perfectly for my height and comfort. They are clearly passionate about cycling and knowledgeable. I appreciated shopping in a place where everyone was so trustworthy and never tried to "sell" me on anything. Super helpful crew that works here. I brought my baby (6 speed Schwinn beach cruiser) in to fill her tires and adjust her chain and they did that for free. Also, people rushed to hold the door for me when I came in and out with her. I had already struggled with the damn thing in and out of the car so that was nice of them. There was a good amount of people here getting their bikes worked on so I would maybe call ahead to make an appointment. They also sell clothing and bike accessories. I was looking around areas near Fort Lee to purchase a hybrid bike for recreation riding and fitness. I looked at a bunch of places near here and I see 5 star ratings from 11 reviewers. I'm thinking a shop that has 5 star ratings can't possibly be true and I had to go in for myself to check it out if it was true. I went their last Monday to take a quick peek after work to see what bikes they had. Mike was the one who came and provided me with information on bike that would best fit me and no pressure in purchasing it. He offer me to come back in suitable clothing to take the bike out for a spin. I wasn't able to come back that day but I came back today to check out the bikes that I would like. This time the owner John came and assisted and educated me on differences between each bike. He took his time in helping me find a bike that would best suit me. After an hour and a half I decided on the Quick 4 after taking the Quick 5 for a spin. I also bought the bicycle rack for my car and John helped and explained to me how to install it on my suv. This place has great customer service and that is what business is all about in keeping long term clients coming back. Will be bringing my girlfriend back to get her bike here. I went in to have my Olmo custom bike worked on. The bike was in a serious crash and I wanted to make sure that it was repaired correctly. They replaced the neck, head set, handle bars and gave it a major tune up! Since, I was returning to riding cycling and quite out of shape, they made sure the bike would be positioned in a less aggressive angle. The cost was extremely reasonable and I am glad they did a wonderful job on the bike! I just went into the shop today because my rear bike caliper was locking, there was play in the bottom bracket and the front derailleur was not responding well. The shop took me immediately and I was able to road test it to my satisfaction. John even made sure my cleats and seat were positioned correctly before I left! What I really like about the shop is they are very knowledgeable and the customer is King. John is sincere and honest. If they don't sell the parts you want in the shop it is because they are not up to their standards. read more
