Cornucopia has been around for a long time. I was last there before it had expanded. The food has always​ been great. The menu has a great variety of options and I have tried a few of the vegan options. Personally, ​I have been pleased with everything I have tried on the menu. The green juices are also worth trying. Many of the items on the menu are vegan versions of Irish food ​and are much lighter and delicious. I also recommend​ the green juices. I have not tried any of their deserts. I usually go with one of the daily specials and have never wanted dessert​​ after. Anyone traveling​ to Dublin whether​ you are a vegan or not I think will be happy with Cornucopia. read more

You get a portion of the main meal- which can be divided in two so you get two choices, and then 3 salads. I think the price was around 14 and the food was really yummy, although running out by the time we got there that night. We were also able to split one plate between the two of us. Very vegetarian friendly and so glad we found it! Edit: Okay, so I meant to mention this before but forgot. PLEASE do not listen to Paige A., especially if you are from Ireland, that wrote "So I'm American. And we tend to believe that Irish food is not so great". I was seriously shocked when I read that. I finally had the chance to try this place! Got a voucher some time ago and it was almost expiring. The food was really good, just as I was told =) Prices are OK - you can get a nice , generous meal for about 12-14 euros. Im not a vegetarian but I appreciated the food options here. The place was packed when we arrived but we were luck enough to get a table - it was lunch time. I had a delicious wrap with some lentil soup. Totally recommended that soup, it was super tasty. I've already reviewed this under the other yelp account I seem to have created (c'mon, yelp, enable merging already!), but it's so good it deserves another 5-star review. Cornucopia is my home away from home. Though I live in San Francisco and therefore have more vegan options than Dubliners, I wish this place lived in SF, too. Hearty vegetarian casseroles; delicious hot soups; savory scones (which I buy and save for breakfast); even vegan blueberry pie with soy whipped cream (which I had yesterday, which was awesome). It's Irish food without the blandness or the meat -- or, for the most part, the dairy. God, I love this place. And they've expanded! What used to be a tiny hole-in-the-wall now has two properly-sized dining rooms (you still end up sharing a table, but that's only because the food is so awesome that everyone wants some), with beautiful green wallpaper to boot. Long overdue; I'm glad they have some more space. I picked up their cookbook last tIme I was in town, and have been going through it over the last year. Though it's wonderful, a lot of the dishes -- especially the big casseroles and mains -- are rather complicated. Love, love, love this place. Since 'Cafe Fresh' closed down there are very few great vegetarian, gluten free, wheat free etc joints in town. I'm not vegetarian but do enjoy a healthy meal. Here you have a myriad of choices. Raw soups and salads, flavoursome curries and casseroles, delicious sweets and treats, organic drinks and decaf and dairy free coffees if desired. This was the #1 place that we wanted to try over our 2-week Ireland/UK trip, we saved it until the last day so we could go out with a bang and I was sooo excited when we walked in! I ordered the cauliflower lentil pie and my husband got the lasagna. We both chose 2 salads along with a piece of carrot cake to share. The carrot cake was SOOOO amazing! My food was really, really, good. It didn't LOOK great, more of mushy slop but it was really tasty. He really enjoyed his lasagna as well (I didn't try it because of the cheese) - However, all 4 of the salads that we chose were really strong in the onion department, it was almost overwhelming with flavor and we left with onion breath. We weren't too happy with the price either - If I am paying €50+ for a dinner for two, I don't want to stand in a cafeteria style line, pick food out that has been sitting under lights for who knows how long, get my own cutlery and water, seat myself and clean up after myself. This was the first time I was there, and wasn't really sure how it worked, but its like a cafeteria style where you go up and order/get your food, drink and desert and then find a table to sit and enjoy. When you go to Dublin as a 100% carnivore, "Vegetarian Restaurant" isn't exactly what comes to mind as an option for where you'd like to go for dinner. However, this place is AMAZING. On my short, 5 day trip, I came here not once but TWICE for dinner. The portions were great and also relatively good-priced for being in such a touristy section of town just minutes away from the Temple Bar. I would recommend literally anything on the menu, but I opted for the Health Special (11 Euro) both times which gets you a soup, 3 salads, bread or crackers + pate. It was extremely filling and the bread was fresh and hearty. I'm still a meat-eater, but if a place could convert me it would be this place. read more

This place was very good. I was in town for St Patrick's day weekend and they had an Irish Stew as the special. I ordered it and it was so delicious, I could have eaten just that all weekend. The irish stew came with two side salads and some bread for about 11 euro. I also got a beer and I think my total was about 16 euro and some change. This place was BUSY Saturday, the day before St Patrick's day. We had to wait in a long line, and when a table became available I held the table while my friend in line ordered for us. Cornucopia feels like getting back to a family dinner after a long year of travel. Everyone is welcoming, friendly, and supportive, there's nothing they cannot explain, or assist with, really. Vegan options rock! :) Last time I've been here with my partner and we ordered a lot. Still didn't feel like much at the cashier, yet the tastes... amazing! The colors almost jumped off our plates! you know I want to like Cornucopia, but I recently reminded myself why I haven't been there in 10 years. For some reason I find the food combinations awful. As a person with various food allergies I like the idea of a place that caters to specific types of eaters, but whatever it is that goes on here I just don't like the taste of the food. Maybe its just that me and the chef have an entirely different palate, but 12 euro for a plate of pasta I didn't eat really was not worth it. And it doesn't help that the food is luke warm. The service counter is nonsensical, the bottle neck means that one person (or in my case the two indecisive girls in front of me) can hold up everyone so that all the staff can do is smile awkwardly while you wait for them to move on before you can get close enough to order. And is it just me or is the chalkboard menu confusingly disordered? What comes with salad and what doesn't? what counts as a main and what counts as a salad? What do I want? why are we here? If a tree falls in the woods and no one is around to hear it, does it make a sound? As a person who has difficulty making a decision when given 20 minutes alone with a written menu, chalkboards are a nightmare. I panic and then order whatever looks vaguely recognisable, which in the case of cornucopia is almost nothing. It's a couple of trays of saucy mush... this is probably why I ended up ordering pasta with a side of potatoes - because I know what these things are!! Just as well I got the potatoes because that was mainly what I ate. I was hungry when I got home :( Maybe this is all just a horrible catch 22 situation caused by the lack of menus.. maybe if they had written menus I would actually order something I liked and have a better experience. Table service would also remove the angry impatience, followed by panic, followed by hypocritical dithering, followed by panic, that I experienced at the counter. Weelll you can't beat this Dublin institution for food that's for sure. For change in your pocket after your visit.. weeellll if that's what you're after, you may be in the wrong place! As the name suggests (the 'horn of plenty' is a symbol of abundance and nourishment), I called to Cornucopia in search for some veggie goodness. I walked away with just that. Cauliflower, beetroot and feta tart (oh sweet bejebus it was good), with two sides of salad - one lentils with crunchy sugar snap peas, and one garlic potatoes (aglllgmmm) It didn't disappoint and was filling, so filling, and left me feeling like I'd done something good for my body, no matter how carbified it was. The only set back was that it cost €12.50. A bit much for a tart and two salads, especially for take away. That is my only quibble however, and if it wasn't for the higher price tag, I would be in this lovely little spot a lot more. If you are a vegetarian or vegan people sometimes look at you in a weird impression but if I add I am coeliac too they go what and where to do you go out for dinner??? Well one of my favorite it answers is just Cornecopia, for me it is like a little food heaven adjusted to all my allergies and food restrictions. The Staff is very friendly and take you serious even you keep asking what is this or that or what is made of and if it includes this or that ;) I really love the lunch offer it's a bowl of soup, two little salads and slice or bread with paté for a about 7 euro this definitely keeps you stuffed till dinner time. The main dishes, soups and salads pretty much change daily which is always nice and you never get bored because they always have a new dish to look forward too. If you have huge appetite you can enjoy the main dish for 11-12 € which includes 2 little salads too, for me its way to much so I mostly share the main dish with a friend and treat ourselves with coffee and one sweet treats afterwards. In my opinion it is one of the best coeliac friendly places in Dublin because I am able to have an entire menu from starter till the sweet end with a divine gluten free brownie read more

Phenomenal food! Huge portions with healthy, hearty ingredients (and they aren't just replicating meat dishes). Most dishes come with 1-2 sides, which makes for a good deal. The food is ready to be served (kind of like a grocery's prepared foods section), so it's quick. You can grab a drink (alcoholic or not) as well. The restaurant itself is cozy and homely, with a nice atmosphere. read more

Oh my goodness! I was recently in Dublin from Portland, OR - and as great as our vegetarian options are here (we have a great selection), we were still SO happily surprised to find this gem on our trip. Everything we ate tasted delicious - MY main course was a spinach cream cheese cannelloni with a tomatoey cashew sauce (the cashews are completely pureed and just add an amazing, nutty creaminess to the already rich and delicious sauce). It was amazing. They have a huge variety of things to mix and match, I only wish we had more time to go back and try all of it! The one slight downside is that it is very busy and we had to wander a few to finally find a seat, and the interiors in general are nothing to really write home about. Luckily, the food more than makes up for any of this. We sat at the bar in the front window and it turned out to be great for people watching (it's busy, close to Grafton Street so you see lots of shoppers and interesting people). read more

After watching, 'The Bad Lieutenant' in IFI with my film buff friend we decided to get something to eat. She has a few dietary restrictions and I would eat anything so that works well. She took me here, I know it's pretty poor form that I had not been prior but I seem to have a mental aversion to entering businesses that I pass everyday... Familiarity dyslexia? I got the carrot, chickpea and coriander soup. The best soup I have ever ordered in the city, I usually make my own because stuff you buy is so salty and not filling, but this hit the spot. I got the apple & celery juice, yeah good but uber pricey for the size... Lemon Jelly is much better value for juices. Not the full star treatment because they have that canteen system which I hate because it reminds me of being in an institution. Interior is open and bright. Clientele are interesting and of course look healthy and zen-ed out. A young fella came in as we were about to leave to play a harp, pretty cool. P.S Highly recommend the film, Cage is amazing as is the rest of the cast. The humour and pathos is wonderful and well anything that depicts the South makes me happy. read more

Oh there is a table, damn those people saw my looking at the table and split up in line to grab it. Curses!! Oh, wait there is... on no that's gone too. Feck it, I'll sit on someones lap if I have to. I don't understand this menu at all and the items in this display case don't match the items on the board. What the hell am I going to order?! (Panic is starting to set in)This line is moving too fast, I can't make up my mind. Gluten free, lactose free, Nut free, Oats, Beetroot, Aaaaggghhh!! I wonder if I'm going to need a sandwich after this? Holy Molly, the drink menu is just as complicated!! I'll take the sweet potato soup please and she will have that plate of... uh... pasta, spinach, leek, chickpea, sweet potato, feta and mint thingy (shrugs shoulders). Drink = water Inner dialog... What just happened and what did I ordered!? You want how much?!? (hands guy money) Dear god thank you, there is bread that comes with it. (Sit down and look down at the massive plates) I feel like I should have a trough bag around my head or something, with all of these vegetables. Well this will clean me out for sure. Oh! Did I say that part out loud. The soup's nice and so was the bread (blushing a bit because people are staring at me). I really did feel healthier eating there and I'm glad that Dublin has some options for us non (semi) meat eaters. I've only lived with a dietary-diva for three months now, but I can tell you that finding food that's gluten-free and lactose-free without being flavour-free is quite an uphill battle. Call me a supportive significant (or just a stubborn cow), but even when he's not around to appreciate my, erm... research, I'm on a mission to find delicious, healthy and dietary-diva-proof dishes. Apparently they've all been hiding in Dublin. Cornucopia was just that - a pile of different wholefood options from salads and soups to dessert and home-baked breads. I was that annoying person in line who couldn't make up her mind, so I ended up getting the plate with the most items on it: roast squash & fennel layered with olive polenta with romescu sauce, plus two salads: Beetroot, watercress and grapefruit salad and bulgur, roast pumpkin & baby spinach salad. Heaven. Listen, I know sometimes you just want a massive, processed, grease-ball of a hamburger or a proper hangover-curing diner fry up. I'm not above that either. But if you're on the prowl for wholefood goodness (or, I don't know... if you have a point to prove with your significant other that he should stop being a baby and put an end to his whining that "there's nothing good to eat"... or something) put down what you're doing and immediately make your way to Cornucopia. A little bit pricey but it's worth it for the good quality, healthy food. Portions are large and generally yummy. Vegan options available for those that don't eat dairy or eggs and also gluten free bread available. Non-dairy milk available for those with intolerance. Breakfast consists of vegetarians sausages, homemade beans, mushroom, egg and delicious onion. Well worth popping in for a tasty meal if you're up early in the morning. Dinners are filing with large portions and they have a wine licence and many tasty deserts suitable for vegans and vegetarians alike. Dublin was my last stop for my past trip to Europe, and the previous time I was Dublin I did not have a good eating experience as I am a vegetarian. But this time I had a friend their who brought us to this gem, which was our first meal! After that, I found I had better vegetarian options, but I still wish we went back to Cornucopia every day! When I got to the counter I couldn't decide, everything looked so great and fresh and creative! I chose a tofu and spinach casserole and then for my side dishes I got a leafy salad and chickpea salad that I can't quit remember what else was in it but it was all so great! The food was really nice, and I decided to get a the cookbook to bring back home! (When I bought it I had the choice of a complementary wine or dessert, so I tried a vanilla yogurt cake sort of thing that was pretty good, but I've had better desserts). It was a little crowded as it was lunch, but everyone was really super friendly and it was warm inside on a cold rainy day. I've cooked a few dishes from the book so far and they've come out pretty good, probably would be better if they were in the restaurant! Seriously need a Cornucopia in the states! read more

Just headed here tonight as I was working late but I also wanted to get in a swim. Mmmm where to eat in town that won't fill me up too much but is also good value and I won't feel guilty going to after and ruin the whole point of the swim. Well I hopped on my Dublin Bike and headed up to Cornucopia where I have headed many times before. As usual there was a good crowd but still was able to get a seat in it no problem. I ordered the Carrot and Tomato and Tarragon Soup which was gorgeous, as Annie has pointed out in her review, many places overload on salt but this was tasty and you could fell the goodness coming from it. I also ordered a side salad of Tabouleh which I love and some chick peas. I had this with a nice ice cold glass of water and a read of the Irish Times. Perfect early evening meal and it hit the spot and an hour or so later I was ready to hit the poo after a wander around the streets of Dublin and witnessing the antic of Freshers Week in Trinity. This is a vegetarian restaurant that gets the "you won't care it is vegetarian" label For lunch it's usually pick your main course, then 2 salads for sides. And there's usually a choice for every taste. So you can get curry, quiches, stews, etc, all in a vegetarian/vegan version and all yummy. The side salads are also nice and far from your average tasteless side salad from other places. After having an excess of meat dishes the past few weeks, I decided that I would try this popular vegetarian restaurant in central Dublin. This was probably the first vegetarian restaurant I have been too, but it was amazing. The taste combination of the various mains and salads is incredible and they have so many great healthy options. They specialize in the ethical, fair-trade, healthy vegetarian dishes. The portion sizes are huge and you definitely do not leave hungry and do leave feeling healthier. The combinations within the mains and salads change daily and their menu board is written on large chalkboards hanging over the register. You order at the front and then either take your food after ordering, or they bring it too you. The options can be very hard to choose from. I would definitely recommend seeing what everything looks like and ordering once up at the counter. They have so many different items in the mains, I can't really recall even the names of what myself and my wife ordered. I think I ended up just trying random things. I am not even sure what everything I ordered really even was. I had this juice with my lunch which was called green juice. It was a combination of apple, cucumber and celery juices. Unique and great tasting. Everyone working there was really friendly and helpful. This will definitely become a regular place of mine. read more

The bottom line is that Cornucopia is pretty good...but I was disappointed to not have the great experiences I read in other reviews. Let's start with the positives. The menu offers a really nice variety of tastes and textures using fresh ingredients. Mains come with two sides/salads, which makes for generous portions. The juice combos are excellent. I enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere and the staff were all very friendly and helpful. The unfortunate negative was that all three of us came away with pretty bland dishes. My spicy root vegetable stew didn't have any spice to it at all. The Caesar salad had an original mustard dressing, although a garlic potato salad showed no evidence of any garlic. I would love to have a regular, healthy alternative for eating out - and will try Cornucopia again in the hopes that we just caught a bad night or something. Hopefully I will be able to update my review with a more positive rating. read more

It's also a great place to bring people if they have special dietary needs; all the dishes are clearly labelled: gluten free, wheat free, sugar free, dairy free etc etc. Cornucopia is also a hidden gem for breakfast. It's the best place I have found for fresh fruit salad, none of this pre-packed nonsense. Home made baked beans, veggie sausages, the list goes on!! Take note other Dublin lunch & bruncheries, this is how you do a vegetarian breakfast. Wow! This is how a restaurant should be. Small batches, rotating, vegetarian fare in an intentionally WiFi-less zone. This space focuses on the food. I came here seeking out some healthy food and i was not disappointed. In fact, i loved it so much i came back the next night and got food to take away. As a chef and vegetarian of 7 years i know how hard it is to achieve a homey, comfort food feeling with your food and have it still be vegan/vegetarian, seasonal and not too heavy/salty. Incredible. Maybe it's because Cornucopia is the only 100% vegetarian restaurant in Dublin, but I feel this place is overrated. That, or the US - specifically cities like San Francisco - have a much higher standard for vegan food. All of the recipes at Cornucopia seem overly complicated. For a place that essentially serves cafeteria style I'd expect the dishes to be more simple classics. Also, for the price I'd expect made to order food and table service. The other day I came for breakfast and they were out of tofu scramble :( Seems like tofu is something that you should always have in stock right?? That was disappointing especially given that their breakfast menu skews more vegetarian versus vegan. Bottom line - this place is ok but Dublin seems quite vegan-friendly at other locations so I probably won't come back here. read more
