The patio is comfortable and expansive, with a little flame between the tables for the more chilly nights. I like the atmosphere here better than my usual downtown Phoenix location, but I do wish the service had it a little more together. It took forever to get seated even though I clearly arrived after peak. I felt like my server kept forgetting about us--our drinks were literally brought out after a 20 minute wait, just before our entrees. I grew up with Cornish pasties. I always loved 'em as a child. We stopped by here to pick up a couple. Vegan for spouse (who can't eat dairy) and a chicken tikka masala for myself. Pros: the bar, dining area and patio are AMAZING here. Truly. Less positives: the Cornish pasties were HUGE and quite a bit heavier than I like. The fillings were ok but not fabulous and quite skimpy on the filling, given the size. The dough was almost perfect. The service was borderline indifferent. There are other locations and I do want to give them another try - next time going with the original Cornish pasty. This place has a GORGEOUS BAR setup and would be a great place for a date. Cool ambience! There is a lovely outdoor seating with plants and string lights. I came here for dinner with my husband. We ordered the soup, spanakopita pasties and he ordered a vegan carne asada pasty. Soup and bread was really good! So was the butter served with it. Pasties were tasty, just a bit dry. O. M. G. This place is such a vibe. If you want to feel like you're in a post punk, British, goth bar that is somehow also fancy?? then this is the place for you. The food is made from scratch and we all enjoyed. My daughters split the chicken pot pie pasty and both liked it a lot. We mentioned to our waiter that they were splitting it and they brought the food out on two separate plates which was so nice! My husband got the Oggie and loved it. I appreciated the broad list of local taps. It was my friend's first time, and she loved her soup and both pasties we got (lamb and mint; rosemary chicken). They were both fresh and super tasty. So we put our number down and glanced into the restaurant and saw about 10-12 bar seats open and TONS of tables open. We decided its okay and will wait the 10 mins, no big deal. After about 10 mins of waiting 2 groups had come in since we sat down to wait and the lady suggested to both of them that the bar is open. So we decided to go sit at the bar. We sat there for a good 5 mins with the bartender avoiding us and walking back and forth helping the 4 other people in the restaurant. Wanna hear the craziest part? I told my gf about their awesome food selection before arriving and when we were waiting we were told that they don't have the ingredients for a "couple" of the pastys and handed us the menu with the ones they don't have crossed off. What a cool spot! The ambiance is cozy and certainly has a unique vibe. For some reason, half their menu was essentially unavailable when we visited. And the service was really touch and go. When we did see our server, she was really great. She just... wasn't around. Maybe they were short-staffed that day? Everything took painfully long during our visit. I ordered one of the few vegan offerings they had available that day. (Shout out to their expansive vegan offerings!). I would have preferred my pie to be a bit more cooked as the crust was kind of under done and almost gummy? The flavors of the content was really good and comforting tho. For the price, I would have expected better quality. Maybe it was an off day? I'm open to stopping in to give them another try if I'm ever back in Flag again. I have to come to this Cornish whenever I'm in Flagstaff. It's my favorite of the three locations I've been to (the other 2 are Tempe and Downtown Phx). Often playing great music and the Pasty is just bar food from heaven. My favorite is the Cuban and the Lamb Vindaloo. As for drinks, the mead is lovely and also their Oaxacan Old Fashioned if you wanna feel like a sexy older man that lives en el rancho. This is our second time here and I'm still in love with this place! The Cornish Pasty Co. in quaint downtown Flagstaff is always there for us when we need a nice, filling and comforting meal at the end of a long day. It doesn't matter how late. The first time we arrived, it was midnight. Our visit yesterday was around 6 PM. We were asked if we had reservations when we walked in and got worried because it was parent weekend at NAU, but it was no problem. We were told to pick out whatever seat we wanted and there were several empty, long church pews with large tables to choose from. We chose our favorite table right near the front window with the view of the street. Both times here, we've had the greatest, most friendliest service. Our server was so pleasant and she came to refill our drinks very often. I keep telling my girls I would hang out here all the time if I was in college. The large broad tables and long deep benches make it a perfect spot to nestle down on a study weekend preparing for upcoming exams. I can imagine how comfortable and charming it would be here even when it snows. There's also plenty of seating outside in the back patio, and it was perfect weather today to sit outside as most customers were doing. These are the best meat pies I have ever had. I have a weakness for a good piecrust and this crust is amazing. It's buttery, flaky, browned on top and oh so delicious. On top of that I love lamb and mint, and they do that so well. My pasty, or meat pie, came out steaming hot. The crust, minted lamb, thinly sliced potato, and red wine gravy just hit that spot for me! Today we ordered: - PG Tips British Hot Tea (Pot) with 2 cups - Mushroom, Walnut & Spinach Soup with Housemade Bread & Butter - Full Caesar Salad - Mushy Peas - Lamb and Mint Pasty - Lamb, potato, rutabaga, onion, and fresh mint with a side of red wine gravy - Shepherd's Pie Pasty (Lamb) - Ground minted lamb with peas and carrots, grilled onion, mashed potato, and cheddar with a side of red wine gravy - Apple Caramel Pasty - Apples, cinnamon, and caramel baked inside pastry with ice cream and fresh whipped cream on the side There are live bands that perform here and also open mic night. There's a full bar and a separate room to play pool. What's not to love about this restaurant? There are kitschy black-and-white photos framed on the walls against the dark floral patterned wallpaper, and vintage red glass and crystal lights that go with the theme of the restaurant and food. The reason I am giving them 3 stars is that the restaurant is so dark, you can't see the menu or your food without your flash.
