I lived in downtown Austin in a tiny hot neighborhood in South Lamar. With a sigh, my neighborhood had tricky comparables due to the varying gentrification levels of the adjacent streets. I designed & lived in an architectural wonder that floundered on the market with 2 different listing agents - during a sellers market. I liked the listing agents - they were busy & worked open houses. After 6 months, scratching our heads, the advice i got from the current listing was to thrash the price & rip out the gem of a highly designed kitchen & eating area. I was to then rebuild a traditional safe one - so the next owner could put a table in it... I was at the end of my rope. I was about to do it. ...they didn't get the residence. In walks SHAWN CULHANE ... He got it. Shawn looked pained & then laughed at the advice I received. He looked at my very cool computer station I had in the main living area & told me 2 things: One, go put that workstation in the quirky room downstairs. Two, set this amazing space up for a classy dinner party. The buyers will instantly feel themselves "living" in here. Shawn then ordered a more expensive, but necessary, higher level night photography shoot & then turned on his very practiced "machine" for selling a home & set up open houses. He sold my home to the SECOND couple to walk through the door on the first day. BAM!!! Shawn then had specific associates for each aspect of the sale & closing process work with me, There was not one ball dropped / they were ridiculous in exceeding expectation. Shawn and his associates had their eye on the prize. The good news is that they had two prizes in mind, the whole time: Closing the deal & my experience. Me? Yes, a happy client is a hopeful repeat client & good recommendation. An ecstatic client is shouting out at how good their experience was & a client for life. They listed my home for approximately $800,000 after 2 months we drop the price to 695 thousand still no buyers they guaranteed to sell my home in 55 days they had it for 110 no sales no thousand dollars like they advertised this coming are scammers do not list your home with them day hope the MLS doesn't work cuz they don't. Regarding another review here: they won't return calls because they're too busy soliciting business by phone. Santa needs to bring this guy a copy of the Do Not Call List for Christmas... Several days before Christmas I got a sleazy solicitation phone call asking if I was thinking of selling my house. I asked where they got my phone number, and the jerk hung up. I guess this guy is too cheap to mail out the "call me if you're interested in selling your home!" postcards, since a stamp costs more than a phone call. read more

Our overall experience was wonderful! Buying a first home can be a bit scary, but with Culhane the process went smooth, and exciting! Shawn Culhane is a total douchebag! This guy has no idea how to return calls and can't even respond to an email about selling my acreage to pay off some medical bills for my sick relative. You would think folks would be a little more compassionate when they know you have a special need but when the guy found out it was only for $50,000 he seemed way to good to help or even refer me to another agent who could help me. I'm late in writing this review; however I'm doing it now because I've seen so much marketing for Shawn Culhane. In March of last year I found a property on Realtor.com and contacted the listed agent - Shawn. After a couple of days I had not received an email or call so I phoned him. I got his voice mail and left a message. No Call back. Over the next week or so I left 2 more messages and never received a call back. At one point I called and someone in his office answered. I explained that I had left several messages and never received a call. She said he will call me back - she'll make sure of it. Never got a call back. Needless to say, I'll never call them again. We just purchased our first home from Scott, and let me tell you... Scott Ewell with Culhane Properties is a class act― patient, honest, and well informed about the area. I know that we were not Culhane Properties only client at the time we were looking to buy our house, but we felt like Scott's only clients. My Wife and I had been looking for a house for over a year. We fired more than one real estate agent due to lack of attention, and/or difficult interactions. I lost a leg in a motorcycle accident, and when looking for properties he made sure to check for excessive steps, narrow doorways and hallways, and high inclines on driveways and sidewalks. He even lifted my 70lbs wheelchair into the back of his own truck, unloaded it at each property, and loaded it back up again. He did so for weeks without complaint or mention of inconvenience. In fact, he seemed to take joy in providing assistance. We looked at several homes, at my insisting, that were simply a bad fit― homes with tight corners and narrow hallways, small kitchens and hard to get through front, rear, and bedroom doors. Scott humored me, and without complaint took us to the next house. Sometimes we spent 5 minutes in a house before proceeding to the next, sometimes we didn't even get out of the car. Scott never showed any signs of even the slightest irritation at what other agents flat out stated was a waste of time. We felt like we were looking for houses with a close friend rather than a real estate agent. Mr. Bart Tracy is to be commended for getting my son a contract on the perfect house in the greater Austin area. Were it not for Bart's impressive knowledge of this area's real estate market, my son would still be looking. Bart orchestrated the viewing and consequent contract offer on the evening of Thanksgiving Day, which we found out the following Monday morning, the sellers chose my son's offer over the 12+ other offers they had also been given. Bart always had my son's interest uppermost in mind as he steered him thru the complex processes of inspections, re-inspections, appraisers, surveyors, lenders, etc. Bart unilaterally noticed when small, but important things were not right and got them corrected. Things like ensuring my son had in-hand house keys upon leaving directly after signing at closing, which the title company did not immediately provide upon closing. Bart also got a conspicuously absent appliance that was supposed to convey, returned to the property in time for closing. This appliance was supposed to convey but was mistakenly removed from the home. Bart also ensured my son had a one-year home guarantee set up to ease the burden of this major transition to this new home in a new area. Mr. Bart Tracy is the consummate professional and possesses an encyclopedic knowledge of this real estate market in Austin. Because Bart knew when and where the new homes were just coming onto the market, he worked hard to quickly get his clients, in this case, my son, home tours and consequent personalized contracts submitted, to ensure being one of the first, (if not the very first) contract offered to the sellers. So very tardy in do this... My apologies all around. We've had a very busy year!! But I do want to add my comments on my experiences with Chris DeTrinis at Culhane! He was absolutely the best. We are old enough to be his grandparents! We were looking for a second/retirement home in the Leander, Texas of area. Wanted somewhere close to our kids and my sister who lives in Georgetown. Chris took the time to understand our unique needs and did an outstanding job helping us find just what we wanted. He made me feel very comfortable with my decisions, but didn't pressure me to act. We decided to purchase a new build home, and he was with us every step of the way. We've had agents that drop out of sight once the builder contract is negotiated only to return on closing day.
