I had the Super sub. It was excellent. The person working behind the counter was very friendly and efficient.

Normally this is my go-to spot on a chilly day. It's close to home and always have so many options…read more I've never had a soup here I didn't love and the staff are all friendly. They will let you try samples in store if you ask. I recently tried their new summer menu and while the picnic burger was delicious, I expected it to be a bit larger for the price (it was on a slider bun). The Hawaiian mac salad was tasty, but was a little heavy handed on the red onion for my own personal preference. I will for sure be trying some other things on their picnic menu, but honestly looking forward to the fall hoping that they will switch back to their regular menu with soup and grilled cheese. I support whatever helps them stay open since I assume soup isn't the most popular option come July and heat waves!

Their menu includes 10+ different soups each day, as well as several sandwiches and some salads. I ordered the garage sale: white cheddar, fresh mozz, rosemary goat mousse, havarti, and swiss on challah. I also got the steak and mushroom soup and the snert soup for Nate. When I arrived my order was waiting for me - it was nicely packaged and secure so everything was safely contained for my short drive home. The sandwich wasn't very melty, I ended up heating it up in a pan myself which helped. It was super tasty, though! I love the combination of cheeses. The steak and mushroom soup was really good, with chunks of meat in a creamy broth. The snert soup was very salty! The menu description indicated the snert soup should have sausage or kielbasa in it, but we didn't notice any. The restaurant itself is pretty small with limited seating, but I'd probably just order there next time. You can also get samples.

New City Cafe - Micaela pizza (pepperoni and pineapple)

This is (still) one of the city's coolest hidden gems! New City Cafe is a student-run restaurant…read morethat serves wood-fired pizzas, salads, soup, and bakery items. Their mission is "empowering youth to reach their full potential" and all the teens we interacted with were so great and polite. They're only open on Thursdays in the summer from 4-7 pm, but it's definitely worth seeking out if you like pizza with a purpose. They offer specialty pizzas that change each week, in addition to cheese pizza and pepperoni pizza. You can even build your own pizza with their farm fresh ingredients (literally, they source many of their ingredients from the 1-acre urban farm located next to the cafe). There's lots of outdoor seating as well as a super cute dining area inside with a colorful and fun mural. You can order online ahead of time and take your food to go as well. Nate and I tried the Micaela, a pepperoni and pineapple pizza, and their supreme with pepperoni, bacon, sausage, onions, peppers, and mushrooms. The pizza came out quickly and it was so delicious - super cheesy and flavorful. I love the char on the crust that comes from the super hot wood oven. Prices range from $10-$15 and they have at least one vegan option each week. We sat inside and it was nice and cool, but it did get pretty loud. Family-friendly spot, we saw lots of kids. I love the mission and food at New City Cafe and make it a priority to visit at least once each summer. Hoping I can make it back again before their season ends!

They don't miss. Their soups and salads are always SO GOOD. Their pizzas take the cake, though…read more I've never had a pizza in West Michigan like it. They use a sourdough base from Field and Fire and cook each pizza in a brick oven. Every week, their menu changes and I haven't had something I didn't like. I love that everything is fresh and locally grown/sourced, as well. 10/10 recommend!

Good place to study and meet up with friends/family. Food…read morewas okay. Definitely had better panera than this before. I had Chicken and wild rice soup (which is my favorite) and it was very runny and watery. I also found a legit frozen piece of chicken in my salad. Also there was a few pieces of lettuce that turning brown.

This morning I stopped to get an egg and cheese sandwich. Ate it on my way to work. About an hour…read morelater I started feeling nauseous, my stomach got hard and I started having chills. Then about hour 2, I started to feel pain in my stomach and then my body turned achy and I became weak. I vomited a few minutes later at work and had to lay on the floor because I was too weak. After vomiting 3 more times, all it came out was the egg and cheese sandwich, I had not eaten anything for 14 hours, I decided to call Panera to let them know that they should check the cheese because of what happened to me. The woman on the floor told me that it could not have been them because if it was a lot of people would have gotten sick as well. Surprised with her lack of empathy, I told her that it was possible that people may associate vomiting to something else, I happened to not have eaten for multiple hours (intermittent fasting) she argued with me even though she said she didn't want to argue, she cut me off saying she understood what I said. I told her that I knew she understood me, we were both speaking English, but I was expecting empathy not just a dismissal of what I had gone through. I called out her attitude toward a well intended complaint and she became extremely defensive, I asked to talk to a manager and she said she was the manager. I asked to talk to someone else and she put me on hold for a few seconds and then hanged on me. I called twice again and no one picked up. I know a lot of young people work there, I've seen attitudes but this lady took it to a different level. Do better. I visit this restaurant often for years, this was new and very disappointing. I keep calling and it doesn't even go to voicemail, someone just cancels the call. They don't want to listen or face accountability

Today I was craving a healthy yet speedy lunch, so I thought Zoup was the perfect choice. I got…read morethere when there was a reasonable line of 2-3 people, but there was only one register open so it took about 5 minutes just to order. Also, I think some of their staff were new there because the team of 5-6 people prepping orders were very slow for the number of employees. There were 2 orders in front of me yet it still took almost 6 minutes for them to assemble my chicken fiesta salad, ladle some soup into a cup, and put it in a bag. The biggest disappointment of my visit was that the people prepping taking orders gave me just the food-no napkins or utensils!! Honestly, do I need to actively ask just to get the bare minimum I need just to even eat my food? Are they expecting people to bring their own metal spoons? Is this a regular practice for Zoup? Perhaps the staff was new or undertrained. I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt. That being said, the food itself was great. Nice fresh French bread-crusty on the outside, soft & chewy on the inside. Chicken pot pie soup was thick, warm, and comforting, although I could have done without the potatoes in the soup (I feel like it doesn't quite belong there). The salad was the all star-creamy and delicious chipotle ranch dressing, well balanced toppings, large slices of fresh chicken, lime juice flavor, a nice bean, corn, tomato salsa, and crunchy tortilla strips. There was kale in the salad, but everything else was paired so wonderfully that it was actually enjoyable to eat the kale! The review would have 5 stars if speed & quality of customer service was better at this Zoup. (Would've gotten only 3 stars except the food was so good.)
