I saw a photo of the taco salad and had to come here for the first time. I also needed the cheesy tots and Texas sheet cake. The taco salad would've been much better with refried beans in my opinion. The lettuce chunks had to be cut up a lot. The cheesy tots were the best of the items we tried. The Texas sheet cake was very dry and gross in my opinion. My poor mother was given a very mushy peach cobbler, didn't look anything like the display desserts. She hardly touched it. read more

Cornerstone would be 4 or 5 stars 20 years ago, but the bar has been raised by a lot of small modern cafes in these small farm towns. The inside of Cornerstone is dated and a bit spartan. The menu is simple diner food. The service is friendly and fast. I was disappointed that they did not serve real cream for our coffee. This is farm country, and serving artificial creamer seems wrong to me. I had scrambled eggs and sausage. The eggs were unseasoned, and the sausage was forgettable. Again, we have found many small town cafes within 20 miles that are raising the bar with better food and quality coffee. read more

We stopped by here on our way home from our son's cross country meet in Peoria. So much nicer to stop here than some fast food restaurant. Very clean and casual atmosphere. Our server, Jillian, was super nice and attentive. I don't think I ever say the bottom of my drink glass. It was always being refilled. :-) My turkey club was delicious. Easy going home town vibes, relaxed dining with plenty of room and outdoor seating too, menu is large and offers plenty to pick from even during the week for lunch, dropped in for my first time and sure will not be my last! My friend and I sampled the Double Bacon cheeseburger and Western omelet; major success, all tasted really good and was a good value as well. I got the Tenderloin and Okra and baked potato and it was EXCELLENT!! We are from Washington State but will definitely be back when we come visit. My mom got the horseshoe and it came loaded with cheese. My daughter got the kids spaghetti and the meat was melt in your mouth yummy. We live in Washington State and there is a certain specialness about food in the Midwest. Waitress was wonderful and the atmosphere homey and soothing. Excellent Broasted Chicken dinners. The chicken breast was perfectly moist and tender. I wonder if they go the extra step in their preparation to brine their chicken first. This past summer they prepared two huge foil pans of their Broasted chicken for our family reunion picnic, on a Sunday, no less, their busiest chicken day of the week! Such a great breakfast. Clean cute restaurant with friendly waitresses. This is what you want a midwestern family diner breakfast to be. The hash browns are CRISPY and not overly greasy. The eggs were cooked perfectly over medium and the yolk poured into the breakfast bowl. If you're tired of going to diners looking for biscuit and gravy and tired of them tasting like spiceless milk gravy and flour ball biscuits then these are for you. They actually season the gravy like it should be. The biscuits are wonderful and fluffy. The French toast and pancakes were absolutely wonderful and full of flavor. This is our new spot. We will be back for sure. *the only minor complaint if I can even call it that was the coffee. It was FAR from the worst I've had but it not the best. I wish it was stronger for sure. Since moving to the Midwest we can't find diner coffee that is full flavored. It's such a personal preference so no stars taken off! This place is amazing. read more

I came here on 2 different occasions, both times the same highschool girl was serving me and she was extremely rude. When I went to pick up my to go order she glared and grumbled at me. I get that it was a busy day but there was no need to be rude as I am supporting her job. She took my card without saying anything and then gave it back with no receipt so I was extremely confused. She eventually gave me a receipt to sign, but she mumbled "Sign here" in a very unkind tone. For a family restaurant I felt very unwelcomed in this space and I will not be coming back. Was greeted by waitress at the door, said I could sit where I wanted. The place is very clean and well lit. Specials are written on a small white board towards the back of the seating area. My order came out very fast and was hot. My fried eggs were cooked perfectly and melted over my hash browns when I cut into them. I will definitely come here again in the future. read more

I just LOVE this place!! I make it about once a week at least. The waitresses are awesome and when I come in and by the time I sit down they have my tea with 3 lemons ready for me! I was so close to giving a 5 but had to mark down for a couple things. First off, great clean restaurant with plenty of seating and its just a nice relaxing place to eat with friendly waitresses. Not much on the walls for decor though but hey it's simple. The menu is large with a wide variety but i noticed some items were kind of higher than usual especially on breakfast and the fish dinners. But if the quality is there then it is worth it and it was! I ordered the Breakfast Bowl and it is a lot of food! The hashbrowns could have been cooked longer and the seasoning for the sausage gravy in both meals could have used more salt along with the hashbrowns. Dont get me wrong, the gravy atleast was homemade unlike most places. My bacon was 2 nice thick pieces that didnt shrink up to nothing and my english muffin was toasted as i asked...dark. So many places dont offer an english muffin or if they do its extra. My friend ordered the Farmers Bowl and said the biscuits in it was really fluffy and baked to a golden brown. He agreed with the lack of seasoning on both the potatoes and the sausage gravy but i guess thats why there are salt and pepper shakers on the table. I will be going back and anxious to try the tenderloin and broasted chicken. Stop in and try this place out...its a WINNER! read more
