Because their work seems essentially like engineering, it's easy to think of optometrists as purely utilitarian: they adjust the dials, ask you to read a line, and tweak until they've narrowed down your very concrete and mathematical prescription. But it SHOULD matter whether your optometrist is friendly, trustworthy, and patient. You're trusting them with a mission-critical part of your body, and dealing with deteriorating vision, dizziness, fatigue, or transitioning to contacts demands a lot of empathy and communicativeness on the part of your doctor. Dr. Kenny at Eye Appeal is a truly excellent optometrist by all those measures. Her office is modern but homey; her office staff--particularly Mark, the optician--are outgoing, knowledgeable, and intuitive; and she is extremely thorough and able to talk in a layperson's language with no hint of condescension or impatience. She actually seems passionate about eye care, and doesn't just go through the motions. On my second visit, I asked to be fitted for contact lenses, and I felt so comfortable and supported during my VERY (abnormally) long session. For more than an hour, through probably a hundred failed attempts at putting my new contacts in, Dr. Kenny remained upbeat and provided consistently reassuring and detailed feedback. It would be easy to feel embarrassed about not being able to do something 36 million Americans do every day, but Dr. Kenny's good attitude saved me from getting overly frustrated. Best of all--though this is likely the practice elsewhere as well--all my return visits for my new contacts, be it just one checkup or three or four go-rounds at trying different brands and prescriptions, are included in the very reasonable consultation fee. Full disclosure, though: I can't vouch for the quality of Eye Appeal's eyewear selection or turnaround, as I've never purchased glasses there, but things like that typically come down to personal taste anyway.

She is kind and personable and really put the kids at ease. I was worried my son might be too little but Dr. Kenny was able to tailor her exam to a small child easily. She was very patient and kind with him, even giving him a small toy and paper sunglasses since he was disappointed he didn't need glasses!! The other staff were wonderful as well! The receptionist was friendly & social. The optician, Mark, was excellent when measuring my daughter for her first pair of glasses. My daughter didn't want to leave and asked when we could come back! Just a really great place with a comforting, relaxed atmosphere. I'll definitely go back when I need new glasses and wouldn't hesitate to recommend Eye Appeal to anyone!

She asked if I had the day off from school... offensive because I'm in my late twenties. She also put the exam down as blurriness, not an annual, so now I have to go back to actually get a contact prescription. I'm definitely going to start looking for somewhere new, shame as I've been a patient for 15 years.

It did not cover tge "special drops for eyes" about $100.00. Also didn't cover surgery center-$300 I went at my eye drs recommenadation. At my 3 or 4th visit Surgeon said because my astigmatism in both eyes a reg surg would not give me the result (no glasses) but for $1300 per lense I could get a toric lense (not covered by ins) implanted which corrects that.All had to be paid up front. I am retired on ssi and not a lot of extra money----but I said since I am only going to do this ONE time ok.After about a month both eyes were done With multiple eye dr appts copay is for specialist for eye drs. Anyway I did all this because I figured if no longer need flasses.... Long story short I went fo glasses my opt gave a script for driving glasses and needed reading glasses. This was not what I signed up for. I tried it-as I had no choice, but went back and told him-I could not my computer with either. Finally I went back to my optom and told I was NOT HAPPY & had to go back to Bifocals. He had a hard time fitting me and even worse his office didn't order them right for 3 trys. When I told him how unhappy I was his snwer was "Well, it; was surgery. You can't gaurantee results! i was ANGRY. I went then went to a new Opt who explained That I could see near and far but not mid range and because they put he toric lens in that will never change. He was able to fit me with bi-focals.I see ok with them. But now I had to pay exam AGAIN since my insur allowance was used. I HAD TO PAY FOR ANOTHER PAIR OF GLASSES! i KNOW THIS WILL NOT BE EVERYONES RESULT, but ask questions so hopefully you knw what you wil be getting into. I would not have gotten the"Premiuum" lenses had I known. Good luck
