The coolest looking masterpiece! Tasted awesome too. The raves from everyone at my sister's baby shower made my day. Delicious! Creative and the owner had a great personality! Kudos! read more

Love this place! It's become our family's GO TO bakery when it comes to special events and celebrations. The cakes are always so moist and flavorful, and these guys and gals can pretty much create anything you dream up! They created an amazing dessert bar, and one heck of a cake for my 30th Birthday. And I honestly can't wait for the next excuse I have to order more sweets!! read more

This was my first time trying this bakery. The owner was very friendly and welcoming. I tired a chocolate cake with vanilla bean frosting and butterfinger topping and it was delicious. I will return again to try something different. read more

Came here to get an order placed for a cake but was too late and they were booked. The guy was friendly and the service was good. I decided to give the cupcakes and cookies a try. The peanut butter and jelly cupcake is yummy. However the cookies tasted a little old and they were hard. Overall I give this place three stars because I paid for 30 for 3 cookies and 7 cupcakes and I was expecting the cookies especially to be soft and fresh and that wasn't the case. read more

This bakery is just plain awesome! My favorite cake has to be the lemon cake with raspberry filling...YUM. We went through them for our wedding cake, and they did my brothers wedding cake and they were both absolutely perfect! We'll always be loyal customers! Thank you guys! read more

This place isn't that hard to find, but it is definitely a hole in the wall. Literally, a concrete hole in the wall (last time I went, which was months ago). But don't let that fool you...they have fabulous cupcakes...in my opinion some of the best in town (which can be considered a bold statement, as there are many cupcake-ries in b-field). Last time I went we got a medley of cupcakes...red velvet and some others (sorry, it was awhile ago). I remember the cupcakes being of good quality and having good proportions of frosting:cupcake...there was still a bit more frosting for my liking but definitely manageable (other places tend to pile high the frosting, which is a BIG MISTAKE. it totally throws off the balance of flavors when you take a bite). Like I said, it's a tiny store, and I think they have a strong focus in catering, doing corporate events and private parties. That being said, be sure to get there early rather than later in the day, so you have a better selection of goodies to choose from. read more

I've enjoyed every little thing I've bought from here. I've bought various types of cupcakes, cake popsicles and other goodies and have found each to be DELICIOUS! I don't think their hours are very convenient for me. read more

I showed up toward the end of the day to pick up some cupcakes and brownies for my fiance. It was 3 or 4 pm, but there was still a pretty good selection. I got a red velvet, a chocolate and a banana-peanut butter cupcake as well as a dense chocolate brownie. I'm not a connoisseur of cupcakes, but I'd say I was a fan. They were really good and nicely presented. They were moist, too. The service was great and the store was charming. read more

Was in the area and had a sweet tooth so a friend and I stopped by for a quick treat. The gentlemen were very nice and friendly. Their selection was a lot smaller than I thought it was going to be, when I found them online. Cupcakes were ok, nothing is run back for. The brownie was good and soft. I'd try it again if I was in the area. read more

This place is so great. They normally take orders 1-2 weeks in advance but I called on a Tuesday and they had my cake ready by Saturday. We got the vanilla cake with cookies and cream filling. The cake was moist and really yummy. I read more

I found Gimmee Some Sugar when I was searching for a bakery for my wedding cake. I was very disappointed with the bakery I had been recommended to. So I got on google and found Gimmee Some Sugar. Based on their wonderful website, I knew they would have no problem making my wedding cake. Now for the taste... I tasted at least 10 different flavors but hands down their white cake is unbelievable, the absolute best in Bakersfield. They also offered fillings I couldn't refuse. They have specialty cupcakes with candy bar flavors. I had an entire candy bar flavored cake. Each tier was a different candy bar filling (butterfinger, almond joy, snickers, and heath bar). I brought in a picture of a cake I wanted and they replicated it perfectly! The taste was amazing and I was receiving so many compliments! Just to top it all off (as if they couldn't get any better), I ordered a grooms cake. Each consultation was over the phone with Stephanie herself. I trusted her to create my vision. My husband loves to play Craps and so I thought this would be perfect. The cake came out better than I ever could have expected. Thank you so much for Gimmee Some Sugar for the BEST wedding cakes, ever! I highly recommend giving them a look! Don't settle on the traditional bakeries in Bakersfield. This one is fairly new but making a BIG name for themselves! read more

I've been to cupcake bakeries all over and no Sprinkle's or Susie's or Magnolia cupcake can compare to this bakery!!! I've had the red velvet and marble. The cake is moist beyond explanation and the after taste aroma of vanilla lingers on your tongue. The frostings for the marble cupcake taste almost like rich fudge pudding. Not to mention, they are very creative with their decoration. A MUST TRY! Although, it is a bit on the sweet side. It will be the PERFECT cupcake of all times if they mellow down on the sugar. read more

I read some of the other reviews and wondered... are we eating at the same place ?? Checked teh adress again, literally drove by it to make sure, YEP ! same place. It is possible I am on a sugar high, but this place is amazing. I may become diabetic, but it is worth it !! Had teh strawberry something, with something yellowish on it( hey I am a guy, details are lost on me) anyways, go there, if you dont like it, drop it by my office. i will eat it !! read more

Holy Moly.... Oh Browned Butter Almond Blondie Bar, how do I describe thee? First of all I couldn't wait to get home, I unwrapped one of my bars right there in my car! I went to take the first bite and the smell hit first, so warm and scrumptious..... then the taste, sweet but not overly so and the browned butter taste comes through perfectly. Yummmm, soft with just a bit of crunch to the top. This one (like everything, I mean seriously) is a HIT! Great job :) read more

My son had his first birthday party and it was monster themed. I decided to go with this bakery because they made my baby shower cake and knocked it out of the park! My cake came out adorable!! It was exactly what I wanted even though I have them a vague description. The employee who helped me was so nice and helped me find the most economical way to feed my guest. The cake itself was delicious. Every now and again I'll pop in and grab a cupcake. read more

Visited the shop today and was blown away by how delicious the treats are and how great the staff was! Thank you Stephanie for taking on little man's 5th birthday cake design idea with just a few days notice. You took a lame Pinterest reference (my bad) and made it everything we could have hoped for -- and at the peak of wedding season, to boot. Really some of the best cupcakes I've ever had. I had a peanut butter and jelly one that tasted just like peanut butter with wonder bread! The owner is really amazingly nice and friendly. I really love this place. The cupcakes are consistently wonderful and they have great customer service. read more

The cake was beautiful and tasted wonderful. They could work on improving communication with clientele, especially for out-of-towners. Returning calls and emails is as important as the product. read more

Best cupcake in town. They have never been on Food Network like some other local bakeries, but it is top notch. They are a bit pricey, but at least you are getting a good product. The only thing holding this back from being a 5 star bakery in my opinion is that they keep thier cupcakes refrigerated. I like room temp cupcakes... I dint like eating frosting that is cold because it feel more like a frozen treat. I normally let them thaw for a while then enjoy later. read more

Absolutely love their Vanilla Bean cupcake! The frosting is so rich and creamy, but my favorite part is the cake itself. The cake is moist and flavorful. I've tried a few of their other cupcakes as well, and they are wonderful as well! read more

Our least favorite cupcakes I've ever bought Went in for my son to pick out his Birthday Cupcake, staff was very nice and all the goodies looked yummy. My son chose the confetti cupcake, it was really dry with a grainy type of texture to it. Not good at all, my son took one bite and walked away. Me and my husband chose the vanilla cupcake, cake tasted better but something about the frosting was off and it was extremely sweet and thick. I do have a sweet tooth and love everything sweet so I was really surprised by the flavor, I even took most of the frosting off. None of us finished our cupcakes, which never happens. So I'm pretty disappointed, just wanted my son to have his favorite cupcake for his birthday. read more

I bought more than a dozen cupcakes from this place. Let me say, these cupcakes were AMAZING! By AMAZING I mean moist, dense cake topped off with a lot of frosting. The person who assisted me was very nice. I tried: -Red velvet -Harvest carrot -Cinnamon swirl -black forrest cherry ALL DELISH! I'm not an expert on these things but this is some of the best stuff I have had, and I have had a lot.... my waist line can a test to that. The reason I didn't give them 5 stars was that I had also asked for Tiramisu cupcakes. I didn't realize I didn't get them until much later that day, I didn't pay for them so I just let it go. Oh well, I will have to try the Tiramisu cakes next time I am in Bakersfield. read more

My sister and I recently had a double baby shower and purchased a cake from Gimmee Some Sugar, it was the most beautiful and best tasting cake ever! We wanted the cake to match our invitations and it was done perfectly and so much more than we could ask. Every guest raved about how beautiful and tasty it was. I would definitely use Gimmee Some Sugar again! read more

This was a pleasant surprise. I've never heard of this place, but it was recommended to me as a good place for cupcakes. They did not disappoint. The only knock was the interior was lacking. It was mid-afternoon and they were closing, which would explain the lackluster energy inside the store. But the product was right on! I will go back again whenever I'm in the mood for cupcakes. read more

AMAZING!!! This place has Delicious cakes and goodies! The head baker Stephanie is so creative and good at what she does! There hasn't been a cake design yet that she can't do. The cakes are well worth the price i guarantee you won't be disappointed. Even her seasonal goodies and creative and out of this world delicious. I wont go anywhere else! This bakery beats Smith's hands down and you get much more and better quality for the same price!! read more

By far one of the best pastry shops in town. Lucky for me I was introduced to Gimme Some Sugar after being the lucky winner of a dream wedding giveaway in 2013. The wedding included a 3 teer cake of our choice and to this day people are still ranting and raving over how amazing our cake was! After being sent home with 6 different cupcakes to taste test we decided to go with the red velvet. How could we not, it is by far the red velvet we have ever had!! Customer service was also fabulous! Stephanie worked one on one with us to ensure we had the wedding cake of our dreams. To this day we will still occasionally pop in to pick up their yummy cupcakes & now with our daughters 1st birthday just a few short months away we will most definitely be ordering some yummy treats for that too! read more

The cupcakes from Gimmee Some sugar are absolutely the best, they leave you dreaming about the next one before you are even done with the first. I am gluten free and you would never guess that the cupcake was gluten free, simply amazing. I typically remove the frosting from cupcakes due to the it being overly sweet, but the frosting at Gimmee Some Sugar is just perfect. I love Stephanie and wish she and her bakery were closer so I can indulge in her treats more often. Thank you so much for your delicious treats!!! read more

I am so totally disappointed in the wedding cake that I ordered for my son's wedding. The bride and I went with pictures, which we left with the gal at the bakery, showing what she wanted on her cake. It was a winter wedding, so she wanted a cake that reflected winter. We asked for some snowflakes and dripping snow and a glittery look (which, I know because I have some, can be achieved using edible glitter.) What we got was a cake that was the wrong color, with a few measly snowflakes made out of what looked and tasted like a cheap white almond bark, some balls around the bottom of the layers, and some clear sugar crystals, which you couldn't even see, sprinkled about. It was the most unattractive $200 cake I have ever seen. I could have almost overlooked that if the cake even tasted halfway good. It was a white cake with the only discernible taste being cardboard. No vanilla taste AT ALL. And the buttercream frosting was awful. Again, they must have run out of vanilla extract, OR ANY EXTRACT, because it tasted like powdered sugar and cheap margarine. Do yourself a favor, don't follow the good reviews of this shop. They must be either flukes or written by fake customers. If I could demand my money back, I would! As it is, all I can do is tell the truth and warn others. read more

I love this place!! I needed a cake for a bachelorette party that was not PG-13. After calling multiple places Gimme Some Sugar called me back and accommodated exactly what I needed.
