Cornerstone bakery bought the business Gimme Some Sugar -or at least I think so? I got married a year ago and part of the contract with the bakery, Gimme Some Sugar, was that they would provide an anniversary cake as part of the cost of a wedding cake. I called Cornerstone Bakery during regular business hours, no one answered. I left a voicemail explaining the situation and asking if they would honor it and to please let me know regardless of the outcome. They never called me back. So I gave Tastries my business. My anniversary is this Sunday so I can't wait for them to never call me back. I may try again in the future if their prices are better than Tastries. Update: just got a call the day after I posted this. She said they would do it but I've already ordered from Tastries. read more

Gimmee some sugar. What can be said other then these ladies truly can bake! They make a wide variety of cupcakes of all sorts. These cupcakes are the greatest cupcakes I've everhad hands down! And for this amazing flavor its amazingly reasonable in price! How they manage to make these pieces of art for so cheap. A nice variety from cholate with cream cheese frosting is the best I feel all the way to a smore cupcake which looks gorgeous and tastes fantastic. Make good lemon drop cupcakes as well! Brownies killer pure choclate heaven. Wonderful snickerdoodles too! Rarely can I bring myself to by cookies I could make myself. But these id spend tons on! (Though you don't have to luckily) Cakes. I haven't yet been married or purchased an amazing cake but I do love every image I've seen. I got one of these cakes for my bday was a alice in wonderlad they truely made it in maddening fantasy! Haha :) read more

My wife found this amazing gem. I tried it last Saturday and will definitely be going back. I got the brown butter brownie , pecan brown butter brownie and butterfinger cookie. All of these taste like they are coming out a five star big city restaurant. The brown butter is was so Decadent and sophisticated. It was heaven in every bite the same could be said about the pecan brown butter brownie. The butterfinger cookie took me back to being a child and dreaming up cookies. It was full of butterfinger and chocolate. The owner was very nice, social and helpful, he made our experience so much better by being so welcoming. We ordered four brown butter brownies for our trip to Santa Barbara because honestly I don't think anything there will beat these. read more

I had them make my cake for my wedding and let me start off by saying their flavors are delicious. We did a cake tasting before and it was so difficult to narrow down our flavors because we loved so many. I showed them a picture of what I wanted my cake to look like and they did it exactly how i wanted it. If I had one complaint it would be that it was more of a violet then burgundy colored like I had wanted on the details but the cake itself made up for that fact. The flavor I got was cinnamon cake with coffee Icing inside and orange cake with almond icing. Beyond delicious everyone kept asking who made it. read more

I called around town to get someone to make my son's first birthday smash cake. I wanted a blue ombré cake and everyone either said no or had no idea what I was talking about. Gimmee Some Sugar was great! They even let me send in a photo of the shades of blue I wanted the cake to be. When I picked it up, I couldn't have imagined anything more perfect. It was done exactly like I wanted but prettier! And only $25! The only bummer was they advised me to leave the cake out so it would be soft for my son to smash into, but in leaving it out, it melted :(. Still, we used it and it was so yummy! I will only order cakes from this bakery from now on! read more

Great macarons just wish their website or here on yelp they had a list of their flavors. Whenever I called to order I asked what flavors they have they said they have 20 just tell me what you're looking for. I don't really get sweets so it would've been nice to know what flavors they have so I can explore new things I haven't tried. Hoping in the future they can list their flavors on their website, on yelp, or on their Instagram read more

I got married in September and placed an order with Gimmee Some Sugar for my wedding cake. My husband and I ordered one 3-layer cake as well as two sheet cakes, since that's what the staff recommended for a guest list of ~200-250 people. It took FOREVER to get a hold of the staff when we wanted to place our order, but once it was placed and we paid the full amount, the staff reassured us that it would be smooth sailing from thence forward. Then our wedding day came. I was busy with other things during the reception, but one thing I noticed was that we had our 3-layer cake, but NOT the 2 sheet cakes. I talked briefly with the reception venue staff, and they insisted that they did not have the 2 sheet cakes in any of the fridges. So...we didn't have enough cake for our guests. After I got back from my honeymoon, I called Gimmee Some Sugar, and they told me that they forgot to deliver the 2 sheet cakes. Then they said they could give me in-store credit. It was only after I told them I probably wouldn't order from them again that they agreed to give me a cash refund for the 2 sheet cakes. I kind of think we should have been given a refund amount of more than the 2 sheet cakes because this was an EMBARRASSING situation for us...200+ people and not enough cake at our wedding! Plus, we had planned to save the top layer for our 1-year anniversary, but we couldn't do that because we wanted our guests to have cake. When I told GSS my rationale for getting more of a refund, they said, "Sorry, we're a small company and that would be too much." Well, if they're such a small company, how do they majorly flub an order like this?! Anyway....it's been more than a month since they agreed to give us a refund, but we still haven't received it in the mail. GSS is probably great for when you have cravings for cupcakes, but I wouldn't trust them with orders for bigger events. read more

I tasted their red velvet cupcake through a coworker and it was amazeballs. Decided to walk in and see how their other stuff tasted. Came on a Saturday as yelp said they were open 10-12. Well, there was maybe 7 or 8 cupcakes left on display and only 3 flavors. Apparently, they don't bake on Saturdays which is disappointing for the folks who work M-F. Saturdays are for selling left overs and for order pickups. We were able to taste: chocolate and carrot cupcakes. Their frosting is addicting!! The creaminess and sweetness of the frosting was a great balance. The cake itself was super moist. Now let's talk MACARONS. Had the chai tea, earl gray, pb&j, and passion fruit macaron. OMG, the best macaron I've ever had in in my life. They'r a little pricey $2 per, but that passion fruit macaron was like dream about it all day good. Haha I'm about 24 hours out, and I'm still thinking about it. Maybe it's better that I can't make it on the weekdays cuz I'm sure these bad boys would pack on the pounds. read more

MY WEDDING CAKE WAS THE WRONG COLOR! I ordered a Ivory and Tan four tier wedding cake to go with my Rustic themed wedding. I mortified when I showed up at my venue and saw a ivory and PINK cake! Seriously, how does a cake place get the color wrong on a wedding cake. Two days after my wedding when we called Stephanie to tell her about their mistake, she had the nerve to say that "well, it was a beautiful cake". Stephanie, I didn't order a PINK CAKE, i ordered a tan and ivory cake. I requested a concession of 25% off my $1200 dollar cake and then two weeks later got a check in the mail for less than 10% off. Gimme Some Sugar = Gimme A Break......and order somewhere else please! read more

My family is on a mission to find the best cupcake. So this was our third different place to try. We got a dozen variety in it was dipped chocolate, lemon cheesecake, red velvet, white with white frosting, snickers. We tried little bites of all and my favorite was the lemon. To me they were on the smaller size and my favorite thing on a cupcake is the frosting and it was really good. The problem is we started our hunt for the best cupcake in Beverly Hills at Sprinkles, how do you compare to that? read more

Oh my glob. I just had the Caramello cupcake and it was the best! The cupcake was so moist and filled with caramel. Then it's topped with buttercream and dipped in chocolate. Normally I like to cut the top off of a cupcake and flip it around like a sandwich, so that it has the perfect cupcake to frosting ratio. But since the frosting is dipped in chocolate I wasn't able to do it. I'd suggest getting a fork to eat this cupcake. It was amazing. I can't wait to try their other flavors. read more

I feel like Simon Cowell, formerly of American Idol, but I feel the need to be honest Brutally honest. Prepare to boo me if you must. I'd been looking forward to trying the cupcakes at Gimme Some Sugar for quite some time. Unfortunately, every time I drive downtown to attempt it, I find them closed. Their summer hours cause them to close particularly early, but I've arrived during the posted business hours to find them closed on more than one occasion. My mom regularly brings a dozen cupcakes to her friend in Tulare and has purchased them at Sweet Surrender, Frosting Inc., Cupcakes~n~Crema - she's even purchased bundtlets from Nothing Bundt Cakes in the Bay Area. She called down to make certain they'd be open and went to pick up a dozen cupcakes for her breeder and several for us. As excited as I was to try them, I was rather disappointed to discover that the cake was just not as moist as I am used to and the frosting was a strange texture. Mom and her friend (and the friend's granny) agree with me. Her friend's one comment was that the cupcakes were dry. I just don't quite get all of the five star ratings. Did we catch them on a bad day? I just don't have time to drive down there another four or five times trying to catch them open hoping to taste test them on a better day. The cupcakes weren't horrible, so I'd feel guilty giving them two stars. I am just NOT a fan. Stepping down off my soapbox, now; let the booing and hissing commence. read more

This is hands down the best place in town to get cupcakes (most cake, lovely buttercream frosting that is not too sweet.) There are a couple of downsides. During the summer they close at 1pm! The rest of the year they close at 3pm which is still way too early. It's very hard to get over to this place to get cupcakes during a lunch hour because of this, and my husband would be more than happy to pick these up if they were open until 5. They should at least think about doing extended hours during certain days of the week. They would really do more business. The other thing is that on their website there is a wide array of cupcakes to choose from but the 5-6 that they usually make are the same ones. I'd love to try the black forest cherry, chocolate on chocolate (they usually only make black and white and call it classic chocolate), PB and J, and lemon flavor, cinnamon, and the list goes on. I wish the cupcakes weren't very good so I'd never have to give this place a second thought again. People just can't adjust their work schedule because a bakery wants to close early. read more

If you want some unexpected fun - ask if they have scrap buckets ! Trust me, you'll love them ! Moist cake, awesomely creative flavors and frosting = YUMMY !!! I am a true fan! I was there on "one of those days that a girl goes through" and got a chocolate malt cupcake and a peanut butter cookie dipped in chocolate and WOW!!! So good! craved my sweet tooths. I only wished the chocolate cupcake would have been a little moist-er. But I can't wait to go back and try what ever their cookie or cupcake of the day is! I'm sure I'll update my review with a 5 star :D p.s. I also tried the cookie jar the next day and they would get a 3 stars... ok, let me add a review for them. read more

I first discovered this quaint little bakery in 2010 when I was looking for someone to do my wedding cake. I loves the friendliness of the staff right off the bat. Once I saw their amazing skills and tasted their product, I was sold! They did an amazing job on my cake. It looked beautiful and tasted even better. I've also stopped in for some of their fun and funky cupcakes. Absolutely amazing combinations. While I wouldn't say they are cheap, they were one of the most reasonable places in town for the wedding cake. I'd say their cupcakes cost about the same as everyone else. read more

Nice little bakery hidden in the downtown area. Grabbed an assortment of cupcakes and cookies. All delicious.

These charming ladies made my wedding cake and it was amazing! Not only was it beautiful and exactly what I wanted, it tasted so good. I got so many wonderful compliments on that cake. They also went above and beyond, labor-wise. I wanted a Shakespeare sonnet wrapped around the whole 4-tiered cake and they did it with elegance and skill. I can't wait til my first anniversary.
