Pancake w/ Eggs and sausage. Had to take some of it home.

Happened on this place when I was in Johnstown. Missed breakfast and didn't want fast food. All I can say is Outstanding! I ordered 2 pancakes with 2 eggs and sausage links. The pancakes were possibly the best I have ever had. The almost didn't need any syrup. The eggs were done perfectly and the sausage was delicious. Coffee was good too. Everyone was very pleasant. Definitely a little gem. Like an old fashioned diner. I will definitely be back next time I'm in town.

Not so well done

Sausage Gravy Over Biscuit

This is a diner hidden in plain sight. They present themselves as a coffee shop and if you drive by the strip mall this resides in, it comes off exactly like that. However, when hiding in plain sight, you can be whatever you want to be on the inside. Like I said, from the outside you get the feel that it's going to be run of the mill eatery. Once you get inside you see the true identity of this place. You get hit with the diner vibe as soon as you walk in. Bright red colors paired with the shiny chrome like warmth that evokes diner. Totally bustling, happy eaters, helpful staff. Came here with my nephew for a breakfast treat. I kind of already knew what I wanted, but of course I was obliged to look over the menu. They definitely have everything covered for breakfast. Just for breakfast along they have an extensive selection and you sure can mix it up here. To note, as I am defining this as a diner, they have a really great diner menu overall. Covering everything from sandwiches to the typical diner meatloaf meal, and I might say just about everything in between, and that is on top of the extensive breakfast selection. I went with the Sausage Gravy Over Biscuit, which I already had in my head to have. For my nephew he went with the one Hotcake with Sausage. Service was swift, it did not take too long for us to get our food after we ordered. The hotcake was a decent size and almost covered the plate by itself. Comes with butter and syrup to top as you wish. The sausage patty looked decent as well. As for my food, it hit me, and it hit me good. When the plate was presented it looked a bit messy, but I was fine with that. I wanted the mess, that gravy looked mighty good and even though it was about to drip over the side of the plate I did not care. The biscuit was perfect. That consistency where it was partially dry that allowed for the gravy to give it that right moisture and made me gobble it up. The gravy, my god, that gravy was amazing. Most places you go to and order this you get this little bits of sausage mixed throughout the gravy. But here, you get those little pieces, but you also get big chunky sized pieces as well. That made this feel more like a meal than anything else I had had for breakfast in a while. Y'all, I cleaned that plate, there was nothing left. The price for this early morning meal was ideal. For what you pay at other places for a sandwich and drink you leave satisfied here. Definitely on my short list in the area for breakfast moving forward.

While visiting the Johnstown area, my husband and I were looking for a breakfast location. I found out about this hidden GEM on Yelp! Its located in the strip mall that used to house Value City (many years ago!). Once inside I really liked the diner vibe decor! The waitress was very personable and the food was great! There are a lot of locals that meet her for breakfast. My husband was so excited to get scrapple! We don't see that down south really. :). I was happy they had sweet tea! I would love to try lunch or dinner there the next time we come to town! Note: I really liked the paper place mat advertising local businesses. Great way to support the local community!

Yummy breakfast! Super busy on Saturday afternoon. Solid choice for breakfast. I got the big breakfast, upgraded to chocolate chip pancakes, and it included two eggs sausage or bacon toast and potato choice.

Upon arrival, we were confused because its in the bottom of a large building that looks like a hotel/apt building. The building is a 55+ over alt building but the restaurant is open to the public. The food was really good and affordable! Most of our group ordered breakfast but a few ordered the open faced hot roast beef sandwich which looked amazing and they said it was good. I ordered an omelette which came with home fries or hash browns and toast-the portion was pretty large for $8.99. Unfortunately we were all starving and didn't take any pictures. But, I would recommend this little hidden gem if in the area and you want a good homestyle meal.

Picture it, Friday night, off from work, hungry, can't be bothered to cook. But you still want to…read morehave a hearty meal. You take to the food delivery apps in hopes of something that might be able to feel that hunger void. I wanted something that would fill my void and I wouldn't think about food for the rest of the evening. I kept going through the apps, pizza, wings, fast food, fast casual, then I saw this place. Graystone doesn't have a huge menu, but what they do have on the menu covers just about every niche you would want. Appetizers, dinners, sandwiches, the usual normal stuff to find. I made sure that I went over the whole menu before I was happy with my decision. I got both an appetizer and dinner, just so I could taste the two sides of the menu. For the appetizer I went with the fries with cheddar and bacon. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't great either. You can tell that the fries are frozen and you can tell that there wasn't really much thought put into this than to add it to the menu as a quick appetizer. It says cheddar, and when you think of that you think cheddar sauce, it's not. Simply a handful of cheddar thrown on top with some fresh cooked bacon. Wouldn't be bad with the cheddar, but it basically hardened over the fries. Making you to really have to get in there with your hands and get messy with it. When it came to my dinner, I was not disappointed in the least. As soon as I saw meatloaf on the menu I did not have a second thought about it. I will always go with the meatloaf, especially if it is my first time trying the place. When you order a dinner you get your choice of two sides and a dinner roll. To keep the meal "homestyle" I went with mashed potatoes and stuffing for my side. Of course they made sure there was gravy. The meatloaf itself was a huge piece, one that easily takes up half of the plate. This also isn't one of those skinny pieces, on top of it taking over half the plate, it is like a double slice or triple slice when compared to other places. I added the gravy on top and I was off. The gravy definitely added to it and combatted the dryness that you encounter sometimes. I really enjoyed the edges, it had that hardened crunch to it that, when combined with the crumbliness, gave you different textures. It was a decent blend of spices, peppers, and onions giving this meatloaf top marks. The sides, let's talk about them. The stuffing, probably not homemade. A bit salty, kind of having some of those same flavors as the meatloaf. The potatoes, I want to think they were homemade. I did come across some lumps, which made me think that. With the gravy, of course it made it a connected meal. The bun, frozen, store bought, but it was a nice way to clean the plate from gravy. Overall, it was a great meal and was definitely feeling. A note as to where this is located in the Johnstown area. It is street level on the senior high rise near Walmart and Richland High School. Most people wouldn't know there is a restaurant there, but you should try it.

I know what you are thinking, why am I giving this place, a small chain, such a high rating. Well, give me a minute and I will tell you. As it continued to rain and tired of having to figure out something new and exciting to make at home we ended up here. The parking lot wasn't full in the least and we were able to walk in and be seated right away. I do have to say that the inside felt extremely small, maybe that was because of the restrictions in place for the time being. Our server, I'm not sure if I got this right or not, Danny was pretty amazing at what he did. He greeted us warmly, took our drink orders and gave us a minute to browse over the menu. When he returned with our drinks he was more than ready to take our order. How do I know that he was good? He took our orders without writing it down, and when the order showed up every single thing was correct. Absolutely everything that was ordered by us was right in front of us. He was the happiest and most patient person I have come across in a very long time. You deserve a raise my man. I had ordered the Fish and Chips meal which came with a side salad. The side salad was more like a mixed green salad with a lot of the toppings I didn't expect from a chain. It was a good portion to serve as a side. As for the Fish and Chips, spot on. Three modest sized strips of fish that were battered to perfection. The battering really made it hold up against the tartar sauce. The fries, basic, but a nice compliment to the fish. I did walk out of here satisfied. And with such a nice server it made the experience so much better than expected.

In all the time that I have lived in and around Johnstown, I had never been able to make it here…read more On a recent trip back home I met my sister and her family for a dinner. I'm glad I finally did to check this place of my to try list. From the outside, it looks like a typical hole-in-the-wall bar in the Johnstown area. I had no idea where parking was because every time I drove past here I would be doing it at a pace I couldn't see. I was happy to see that there was ample parking behind the street facing building. Entry from the parking lot takes you up stairs or a zig-zagging ramp that looks fairly new. This area is also connected to an outdoor seating area, can't really call it a patio. Or, you can enter from outside and take the stairs up into dining room. This is a seat yourself establishment. Once you are seated, you are greeted and given menus. What an extensive menu it is. The amount of items on the menu, if you haven't been here before, can be daunting. It took me a few minutes to just give it a once over. When the server came back around to take our drink order she asked if we needed a few more minutes, yes, we did. When she returned I was ready to go. I ordered the Pickle Chips as my appetizer and the Howler as my main. The Pickle Chips were served with a side of ranch for dipping and they were amazing. Perfectly coated, not too much and not too little. Dipping in the ranch cooled them down just enough to be enjoyable. Now, the Howler, is kind of an experience. The Howler is one of their signature burgers. Half-pound patty cooked to your liking. The set toppings on this burger is bacon, choice of cheese (American Cheddar, Swiss, Provolone, or Pepper Jack), meat sauce, and a fried egg. You also can choose to add lettuce tomato onion and pickle. For mine, I went American for the cheese, lettuce, onion and pickle. There really wasn't any need for condiments as there was already so much on the burger to give it flavor. It almost comes off as either a breakfast burger or a chili cheese burger. Although I did as for medium, they overcooked it a bit. What was a nice addition here was the side. You can go with the traditional fries or go for one of many that don't seem to have an upcharge to it. Tater tots, slaw, applesauce, or nachos and one item for an upcharge, onion rings. I went with tater tots. Overall, this was an enjoyable meal. Our service was impeccable. Atmosphere was lively.
