This review is long overdue! While visiting my home town of Johnstown, we were in the mood for fried fish (particularly Haddock, a local favorite)! I must say that the Johnstown Inn (in my opinion) has the best fried haddock! Yum!!! My friend liked it a lot as well. Great choice!!! The menu has lots of yummy options! Will definitely be back the next time we are in town!

Over the holidays I finally had the chance to try Johnstown Inn out. My sisters and I got together and decided to have dinner here. I had no idea where this was located so I rode along with my sister and her boyfriend. It's very odd, just outside of downtown Johnstown you would think that it would be a nice looking place because of the proximity, but what you get in appearance is like a back road bar. Parking lot is mostly dirt/gravel and the building on the outside looks like one that has been standing there for an extremely long time and kind of under taken care of. But looks can be deceiving, you shouldn't judge a book by it's cover and all those cliches you hear. Once inside you are completely put off the notion that this is a dive bar. When you finally let the initial shock take over and the stimulation has finally subsided, you realize that you are in a sports bar that is well disguised. I can't tell you all that goes on in here, but the night that I attended was a hockey night and if the Penguins scored a goal you got a specific beer on tap for $.87, not bad if you ask me. It's rather noisy in here, I chalk that up to the fact that there is a very high ceiling and nothing to muffle the noise. Well, there is a half wall that kind of divides the seating area from the bar area, but it does nothing more than serve as a divider of sorts. After showing up we had our menus in hand and were on our way to finding out meals. I do have to say that some of the menus may need replaced. Mine that I had was water stained, at least I think it was, which made it hard to tell what some items on the menu were. Thankfully with five of use here I was able to figure out what I was missing. Typical bar food items to choose from from salads and appetizers to entrees and pizzas. It was truly hard to figure out what to pick. As I was looking over the menu I watched plate after plate come out from the kitchen and it made me question each time I thought I had the perfect meal picked out. If salad is your thing, come here, they are HUGE. I ended up going with a Bacon Cheeseburger. When you order this you get to choose the bread it comes on which is just between a seed topped bun or bread, which I am assuming is made in house. You also get to choose your toppings, nice touch. I went with lettuce, onion, pickle, and mayo. As a side you can choose from fries, house salad, coleslaw, steamed broccoli, baked potato, or applesauce. I, of course, went with fries. Now, we are going to slow it down. Not because I want to, that's what happened after we ordered our food. Our server kind of left us hanging for a longer than usual time. We were just sitting there, chatting, occasionally watching the games on TV, and wondering where our food was. My brother-in-law had ordered a fish sandwich. Instead of telling us that this was going to be the longest to prepare and would, in the end, cause our plates to come out of the kitchen later than expected, we were left there to wonder if our food was being made. Wouldn't be bad, but we were right next to the server station and the doors to the kitchen. You could have at least popped by sooner than the half hour it took you to do so. When the food did start to trickle out we hit our next hiccup. No silverware. Not just for us, but the entire restaurant. How do you run out of clean silverware? So as that was washed it slowly made it's way to the table. We also had no napkins. If it wasn't for the table of servers preparing to roll silverware, we probably wouldn't have gotten any. We did have a few hiccups, but overall the experience was good. There would have been more stars if we would have been checked on more often. As for the food, great. The burger was cooked perfectly and was juicy to boot. The toppings were exactly as I asked for, onions might have had a little too much of a kick, but I managed. The cheese melted properly and the mayo ratio to burger was spot on. The fries, they were some of the crispiest fries I have ever had. Great crunch, held up to the ketchup, mouth watering. Everyone at the table enjoyed their meals, great experience in that sense. Pricing wasn't bad and kind of expected. ATM on site if you don't want to pay with card. Popcorn machine with fresh popcorn for the taking. Ample TVs, big and small. Decent selection of beers on tap.

Johnstown Inn is one of the Best Sports Bars in town! Their food is equally amazing! Try the Pizza/ Wings and Seafood dishes. Daily specials like Taco Tuesday - 2 huge tacos for 11.99 and Meatloaf for 9.99 - They have wine slushies (frozen drinks) that are really good on a hot day. If you are a tourist this is a definite spot on your list- if you are a local you are probably there once a week!

In all the time that I have lived in and around Johnstown, I had never been able to make it here…read more On a recent trip back home I met my sister and her family for a dinner. I'm glad I finally did to check this place of my to try list. From the outside, it looks like a typical hole-in-the-wall bar in the Johnstown area. I had no idea where parking was because every time I drove past here I would be doing it at a pace I couldn't see. I was happy to see that there was ample parking behind the street facing building. Entry from the parking lot takes you up stairs or a zig-zagging ramp that looks fairly new. This area is also connected to an outdoor seating area, can't really call it a patio. Or, you can enter from outside and take the stairs up into dining room. This is a seat yourself establishment. Once you are seated, you are greeted and given menus. What an extensive menu it is. The amount of items on the menu, if you haven't been here before, can be daunting. It took me a few minutes to just give it a once over. When the server came back around to take our drink order she asked if we needed a few more minutes, yes, we did. When she returned I was ready to go. I ordered the Pickle Chips as my appetizer and the Howler as my main. The Pickle Chips were served with a side of ranch for dipping and they were amazing. Perfectly coated, not too much and not too little. Dipping in the ranch cooled them down just enough to be enjoyable. Now, the Howler, is kind of an experience. The Howler is one of their signature burgers. Half-pound patty cooked to your liking. The set toppings on this burger is bacon, choice of cheese (American Cheddar, Swiss, Provolone, or Pepper Jack), meat sauce, and a fried egg. You also can choose to add lettuce tomato onion and pickle. For mine, I went American for the cheese, lettuce, onion and pickle. There really wasn't any need for condiments as there was already so much on the burger to give it flavor. It almost comes off as either a breakfast burger or a chili cheese burger. Although I did as for medium, they overcooked it a bit. What was a nice addition here was the side. You can go with the traditional fries or go for one of many that don't seem to have an upcharge to it. Tater tots, slaw, applesauce, or nachos and one item for an upcharge, onion rings. I went with tater tots. Overall, this was an enjoyable meal. Our service was impeccable. Atmosphere was lively.

I'm pretty sure a few people here aren't racist, but there is definitely racism going on!…read more I took my wife out for lunch, only to get mugged at upon entrance--basically, we got a nasty look like, What are they doing here? I greeted a few guests as we walked in with my usual, How are you guys doing? The first thing we were asked was, Are you drinking? We replied, No, we're here to eat only! While putting in our order before being seated, we ordered a dozen wings and mentioned that we'd like to try a few more flavors. The bartender/server recommended getting plain wings with the sauces on the side. I said, Okay, sounds good, but instead of just a dozen, give us a half dozen more. I even pointed at the menu while saying this--first at the dozen, then at the half dozen, making it clear we wanted 18 wings total: 12 with sauce and 6 plain for dipping. Instead, she brought out two dozen wings--12 sauced and 12 plain. When I tried to explain the mix-up, she wouldn't even let me finish. She just kept rudely cutting me off, repeating, What do you want me to do? What do you want me to do? louder each time. I turned to my wife and said, Why is she talking to us like this? Like we aren't even customers? At this point, I got pissed off and said, What the hell, this stupid bitch. I'll admit, I probably shouldn't have said that--but at the same time, I have freedom of speech, and we were being treated like garbage when we were just trying to have a meal together. The bartender/server then grabbed our plates off the table and said, That's it, that's it, before walking back behind the bar with our food. Then the cook came out acting like some club security guard, pounding one fist into her palm like she was ready to fight. I'm standing there thinking, Look at this bullshit. All we wanted was to eat, and instead, they kicked us out after a full-blown screaming match. The cook got so close to my face that our noses almost touched, with spit flying all over me--disgusting! As we were walking out, she was so heated that she screamed at me all the way to our car, calling me nigga! So I called her a fat dyke. She was so desperate to fight that it seemed to hurt her that we didn't. Now for my diagnosis--We should have been treated better. If this was someone's grandma, she would have handled the situation professionally and taken care of her customers. Instead, the fat one even admitted that the minute we walked in, the bartender told her in the back, They look like trouble. Oh, and I got that on video. That just proves they were profiling us the second we walked in. Smh. And to top it off, the big one followed us all the way outside, trying to instigate a fight, even threatening to call the cops to scare us. At this point, it's beyond just bad service--this is discrimination and harassment. No paying customer should be treated this way, let alone be threatened, yelled at, or followed out of an establishment just for existing. The fact that they immediately labeled us as "trouble" the second we walked in shows clear racial profiling, and it's all on video. We have every right to take legal action for discrimination, harassment, and even defamation, considering they tried to make us out to be the aggressors when it was their staff that escalated everything. I'll be looking into my options, whether that's filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau, pursuing legal action, or making sure everyone in the area knows how this place really operates. If you believe in respect, equality, and not being harassed just for walking into a restaurant, I'd suggest staying far away from this place.

You see Ace and then trophy you think that it's a sporting goods store. But I digress. Out one evening with my family and we decided to come here. Just happens to be my sister's favorite place. I was totally surprised when I walked in here and saw how modern it was. I was expecting the typical Johnstown bar that has the dive-y, run down look going. Not here. Bright lighting that can be dimmed, large areas for multitudes of people, a large U shaped bar and just a good time to be had. One side of the bar has a dedicated seating area. During the earlier hours you can dine in house. I can not speak to the food here as I only experienced the bar. The other side of the bar has more of a recreation feel to it. Pool tables, dart boards, golf arcade game, jukebox (Touch Tunes). When the music is playing, it's quite nice and with the app, you don't need to get up and meander over to the machine on the wall. Bartenders are amazing. They do everything with a smile and are very attentive. Smoking is permitted outside only, which can turn out to be a very entertaining area to be. Staff come out here to let off some steam.
