I took a step back in time last night. My Grandmother Frances was very close to Mrs. Dively. She would tend bar for Mrs. Dively and worked Fri/Sat nights. I used to get to stay with her while she worked and of course b/c I was about 12, it was 1975 of so, had to stay in the dining area but it was always such an adventure. The hamburgers were the best I ever ate and I remember looking through the pass through at the bar and even my Grandmother's brother Mel would come in to have some beers. We would stay overnight and of course I was fascinated by the building and that Mrs. Dively's husband had been a physician(I had this in my future plans). At any rate, I came home with my family to visit my cousin who is the owner of Leone's Market in Windber along with her husband and I had said that I wanted to go to Dively's to toast my Grandmother. What a wonderful experience. The place looks very different but the memories are still there. Garrett and Brian were awesome bartenders and Garrett was even kind enough to take me back behind the bar to see the kitchen. It's all very much changed! I am very sure that the swing door with little shelf on it was original because I remember it from 47 years ago. Wow. Thank you Dively's! I've been coming here off and on for a couple year and it is one of those bars that just feels comfortable and like home. They have an ATM inside with a $2 surcharge and an electronic jukebox that has a good selection of popular and obscure hits. I've only gotten wings here and they were quite good and cheap. The selection of liquor here ranges from Vladimir and other bottom shelves to expensive liquors that my broke self cannot afford. The beers on tap and available are similar and are available in bottles or in a chilled glass. This place's schedule is a bit odd in that they are generally packed during the week and a little empty on weekends. Lee, the owner, resembles a sea captain in looks and demeanor and is a real great guy to shoot the shit with. Brian is the bartender I am most familiar with and he's a great guy with a good sense of humor and a willingness to hand you the black book and make you a goofy drink if it isn't too packed inside. read more

Best burgers, very nice owners. Also recommend the taco's, they are also really good. We always got our food to go, not much seating.

We have going to this bar for a long time and just reopened two weeks ago since the COVID hit and we are so excited that this little bar is back open. Anything you get food wise is delicious and you have to get Brian one of the bartenders to make you a Long Island drink they are the best in town and that's no joke the best. read more

Knowing how long this place has been here, I'm suprised I'm the 1st to review. This is one of the few places I'll go where there is smoking (because of my asthma) because they have a good smoke machine. The good outweigh the bad. Great people, great staff (Brian the bartender, Amber the cook - not sure the names of the others), very good food (cheap). I like they're open mic night, but on Wednesday they're incredibly crowded and smoke hangs in the air. My only complaint is the price of some of the beers (Guinness , etc.) is a little high for the area. read more

Great drinks and terrific atmosphere! Live entertainment some nights out of the week. Comfy back section with large tables - nice for meeting with a big group of friends. The only downside is it's cash only, and I usually never carry cash on me. The ATM charges $2. Other than that, a lovely neighborhood bar! read more

From 1980 to 1985, I was a "fixture" here!! I lived in an apartment straight across Derby Street, "within crawling distance" I always liked to say! Loved this place, and miss it like crazy! I miss Esther during the day, and Mrs. Dively cooking up her wonderful hamburgers in her little household, electric skillet back in the kitchen! And Joe!!! What a great guy!!! So many beers you served me over the years! And I remember you had a thing for Vanna White!! Ha! And the late night poker games where I ALWAYS lost! And I was so honored when you asked me to make that stained glass window above the doorway between the bar and dining room! I wonder if it's still there? I remember the Korean lady that worked there for abou a week, who sold my friend and I "genuine Lolex (Rolex) watches for $20 a piece! And they were genuine Lolex! They worked, even though the diamonds fell off of my friends watch face within a week... and he wanted a refund!! Ha! I remember the little sign out front that always gave me a chuckle... "We Specialize In Hamburgs!" You certainly do!! I miss you all, I love you all, and one day, I shall return! read more
