This catered lunch box landed in my hands, not because I persued it, rather, my dad didnt end up eating it during his medical seminar meeting thing. So, about 3 hours later when he dropped by to see me, he asked me if Id like it instead? Umm, of course dad. Anyway, I thought the sandwich would be a soggy mess but since it was food that literally landed on my lap, I didnt miss the chance to scope it out. To my surprise, the sandwich wasnt the least bit soggy. In fact, it was soft and just right. It had roasted veggies, including huge pieces of artichokes, swiss cheese, baby spinach with a nice background flavor of garlic from the flavored mayo. Nothing overwhelming, but a mint later would really help :) It came with spicy kettle style chips, a huge cookie and a bottle of snapple (which my dad drank). This Corner Bakery was the venue for a recent meetup that I attended. Its large patio space is perfect for a large group looking to congregate and chat; it was an easy choice for the meetup organizer. The staff was pretty laid back in allowing us to use their space. I'm sure it helped that we had people going inside and making purchases throughout the entirety of our stay. Being a mid-afternoon Saturday, there wasn't much seating available inside the Cafe -- luckily, the staff was great about making the rounds and cleaning up tables as soon as patrons left. Finding parking near this location wasn't very easy, I'm sure me being a Pasadena newbie didn't help much. The general consensus within our group was that the most readily available parking was found at the Macy's parking structure down the street. read more

I love The Corner Bakery THIS MUCH! *extends arms* First things last, the pasta sucks--never get the pasta. The soups are excellent. My favorite dish would be the chili bread bowl. Boy, do they serve some great chili! The soups are good too, and they can be upgraded to a bread bowl if you ask. The desserts are top notch, and that's what they're known for. They have these mini fruit pies, which are really tasty. My favorite of the desserts would have to be the crumb cake slice. Chili bread bowl, crumb cake slice, and a drink. 10$. They got my order wrong twice, and the manager had to step in while I was ordering because the cashier couldn't figure out how to put in my combo (I ordered right off the menu, no substitutions or anything) [Problem 1]. I ordered a salad and sandwich combo, but I got two sandwiches when the order was delivered. They took the order back and instead of giving me a salad, they dumped the contents of one sandwich onto the plate (it was just a tiny pile of chopped chicken, apples, and mayo - no lettuce at all, so it was WAY too greasy and oily) [Problem 2]. The sandwich that I did order (chicken pesto) didn't actually have any pesto. The sandwich was alright, but the "salad" was honestly gross. I'm never going back again because I'm so appalled at their service. They not only tried to make me just accept the wrong order, but their "correction" of my order was a joke. The part of the other they actually got right was so basic that I can't believe they charge people $10 for that. What can I say, I really love Corner Bakery and it's def my go-to place for a late lunch or early dinner. I've ordered numerous things on the menu including... Breakfast: - Baked French Toast & Eggs: SUPER good, def my favorite breakfast item anywhere! The baked French toast was amazingly good. I've never had it baked before but it was moist, not too sweet and had just the right amount of powdered sugar on it. Plus it was served with two scrambled eggs and three strips of bacon for only $7! - Chilled Swiss Oatmeal: Pretty gross and disappointing... it had a really strange texture and the fruit was kind of soggy. Salads: - The Trio: This would be your best bet if you can't commit to one single salad; this way you can get a mixture of 3 different choices. I like to get an assortment of fresh fruit, the edamame salad, the mixed green salad, or the chicken salad. Paninis: - Chicken Pomodori on Sourdough: Really good but a bit on the heavy side. - Club Panini on Sourdough: Usually my go-to panini. It's not too heavy so you're not regretting it a few hours later, it's the cheapest panini and also delicious! - Corned Beef Reuben on Caraway Rye: I love their reubens. They put just enough sauerkraut and meat so that they complement each other nicely instead of the meat being drowned out by cabbage or vice versa. Soups: - Chili: Tastes like standard chili, nothing new but still good. - Baked Potato Soup: Super creamy and a bit heavy but still good. Baked Goods: - Whoopee Pie: I've only had their peanut-butter chocolate one and that one is really good. Their Whoopee Pies are pretty big and can easily be split between two people. - Cream Cheese Brownie: Pretty gross... I had a coupon for a free sweet and mistakenly chose this brownie. Tasted just like cream cheese and a hint of chocolate... avoid this. The bottom-line is that with Corner Bakery's extensive menu, there should be a menu item here for everyone. I actually thought this was a super clean local restaurant, but it's a chain. They have some really sweet bunt cakes that aren't half bad like most of their baked goods. I usually go for lunch getting the Chicken Pomodori Panini or DC Chicken Salad sandwich. And in the winter (not in this hot hell-hole weather now) I get a cup of cream of asparagus soup. It's tasty. After long morning runs of 12 miles or more, I like to refuel with oatmeal. They make some of the best steel cut oatmeal here with fresh berries, almonds and walnuts. I love the crunchy cinnamon bread thing they give on the side. I come here after a few days of stuffing myself with burgers, AYCE, fried food, and steaks, convinced that it'll make me feel at least a little bit healthier. Of 4 different Corner Bakerys that I've tried, this one isn't my favorite, but I come here most often when I'm local. For some reason, I've visited the other three, all in the OC area, more than this one. And I live only 5 miles away. Anyway, like always, bread is not that great. Food is a,right. Not the healthiest, but sounds better than burgers and fries. My favorite things on the menu: 1) guilty pleasure: all their cookies. 2)Sandwich Combo: I get the club panini (turkey, bacon, white cheddar, tomatoes, mayo) with soup (roasted corn chowder is amazing, but that's sometimes not available) sometimes, I just get the broccoli cheddar or the roasted tomato basil soup. 3) Pasta Combo: Half moon Cheese ravioli or the Pesto Cavatappi. Corner Bakery's pastas aren't their best, but pasta's a nice alternative after eating so many damn sandwiches. Service here is alright. They don't do much but take your order. Kinda slow sometimes. The granola is by far the sweetest crunchy granola I ever had! Berries are also fresh and a great healthy addition to the parfait. California Grille on Harvest Bread - (Grilled zucchini, artichoke hearts, roasted tomatoes, pesto, with fresh spinach & provolone) YUMMMMY got this and didn't even realize it didn't have meat! I didn't think sandwiches sans meat can be so tasty but this is a great substitute. All the veggies work together in texture and flavor to create a truly lively Panini. This location does suffer from the swarm mentality. They have extremely slow moments and then all of a sudden theirs a SWARM of people trying to order at the same time. We all crave CB at around the same time. They are usually pretty speedy, so this is a great place to grab lunch. I love this location. It's big and spacious, with a really nice outdoor area. You order food, they give you a number, you sit down and wait for your awesome food to arrive. Awesome. The employee here also asked me if I wanted cups for water when I turned her down for beverages. Now THAT'S service. And she gave me two plastic cups, which I took to the fountain to get water and dropped in some lemon wedges. Their pasta is pretty good, but not amazing. I've tried a few items, and I have to say, the best I've had is the pesto chicken sandwich from their signature sandwich menu. Oh, my, god. It is SO juicy and delicious. Here's the thing with me: I usually pull out the tomatoes from my sandwiches and burgers because I don't like them. For this sandwich, I bit into it, and I was like WOW. That is DELICIOUS. The tomato went perfectly with the sandwich, so I didn't mind it at all! The sandwich had a great pesto sauce and light vinaigrette and some arugula. Like any other CB the food is ok but this location has really good service compared to others I have noticed. It can get really busy but their staff is very fast and the wait never seems too bad. If you've never been to a CB the food is pretty standard American fare but it's a bit on the lighter and healthier side. They have lots of oatmeals, scramblers, soups, salads, sandwiches, pastas, pastries, etc. Coffee and fountain drinks are unlimited too (score!) which makes it not a bad place to sit down and read or do some studying. Parking: street parking is $1/hr except early morning and sundays otherwise they do have a free lot in the back. read more

I only chose to come here because I had an appointment in the area and needed somewhere I "knew" had free WiFi and I needed to get some work done - I put this in quotes because I thought all Corner Bakery Cafes had WiFi. Not only did I go ahead and order food, I made the mistake of sitting down and eating before I decided to open my laptop to discover the WiFi did not work. After asking an employee for help, I was told it was my computer's problem and that the manager was sorry. Ehrrrm, I am a computer nerd and I checked everything and restarted to make sure my computer wasn't at fault before I decided to bug anybody. Then I went up and asked to talk to the manager, who seemed to care less about what I had to say. I told him that I only chose to eat here because I have used WiFi at other CBCs, and that now I had spent money and wasted time I could have spent being productive. His answer? That Corner Bakery is more of a fast-service restaurant and not a Starbucks where one would expect WiFi. Okay, that's why all other CBCs have WiFi. I am mostly annoyed that I wasn't able to get any work done here because of the lack of WiFi, but it didn't help that the manager dismissed what I said to him as a non-issue. I ordered 7 items, and the lady even confirmed the items with me. We picked up our food, and we got to the office, I realized that one of the items was missing. I called to ask about it, and the lady that I spoke to insisted that we only ordered 6 items. Granted, they didn't charge us for 7 items. I don't come here often but when I do, I always order chicken carbonara here. Today I ordered chicken carbonara as usual and it came with the complementary garlic bread. It was really burnt and I took one bite but couldn't get passed the burnt taste, so I tried to get someone's attention to our table. When I couldn't, I went up to the front of the cashier and nicely asked if I could get a new garlic bread since this one was too burnt to eat. They said they'll bring a new one for me, but when they did, the new bread was so much flatter that it was honestly just the crust of the bread almost. I love Corner Bakery. I can always trust the food to be of good quality. Not the best, perhaps, but good for the price. I always get their soup + sandwich combo deal, which I think is absolutely fabulous. The soup is always the roasted tomato basil soup (which they have everyday), which I am in love with, and then whatever sandwich I am feeling like. Usually the Chicken Pomodoro. It's very good comfort food, especially when it's cold outside. The parking and location for this particular Corner Bakery is very convenient, since you just park in the uber large Macy's/Trader Joe's parking lot and then you can do your eating, shopping, and groceries all at once! read more

lots of yummies here..when its a nice sunny day, the boy and i will come and sit on the patio to have lunch. My usual is that sandwich/soup combo but I recently tried their chopped salad (greens, chicken, tomatos, bleu cheese, bacon and balsamic vinagrette) $6.99 and its pretty good. Chicken pomodori is always good and so is their veggie panini...They also have baked goods and i believe you can add a cookie to your sandwich/soup or sandwich/salad combo for a $1. It can get a little crowded during the lunch hour and street parking can kinda be annoying at times....pigeons are also a nuisance! eeks. stop feeding them people! i have also become addicted to their raisin crisps...goodness! read more

Like this location's Corner Bakery not only because it is within walking distance of home, but absolutely love the fact that they have one of the biggest outdoor eating patios in pasadena. Located next to Macy's, the patio has at least 15 tables or so and is a great place to enjoy a sandwich, salad, and some baked goods. The service is good and they send someone out to make sure everyone's needs are met. The patio is also very dog friendly as you often see diners bring the canine companions with them, so long as the dogs are well behaved. Bring a book, magazine, or your reader and enjoy the nice so cal weather while you can. Oh and about the food, the sandwiches are all fairly good and I do like the various breads and pastries they offer. However, the on slower days i feel the greens the use for the salads aren't always the freshest. So dock one star for that. read more

We have visited this location frequently in the past. We will never again come into this chain of restaurants. First off, the Anaheim scramble was not good this time, and doesn't come with potatoes anymore, but more importantly. To eat inside you have to show proof of vaccination. No way should any restaurant decide that you need to be vaccinated for anything to frequent their establishment. I have an immune disorder that prevents me from getting it, but my health status is NONE of their business. I'll never give them a dime again. We came in for a free breakfast panini. Using the coupon was easy. Sometimes employees are unaware and others even managers are unaware - so it's a big deal.... The panini was good. A little on the greasy side, but good. It really isn't a panini. It looks more like a simple egg, meat and cheese sandwich a la Denny's. They use sandwich style bread instead of the usual panini bread places use when they call their product a panini. Lame! I had the sausage one and my BF had the ham one. The sausage one was much better. The sausage was not terribly tasty though. They were pretty small. I am not sure if the samples are the same size as the ones they actually sell or not. We also ordered some drinks. I had the Truffle Mocha. BF had the Truffle hot chocolate. Mine was pretty bleh. His was even more bleh. Do not, I repeat, DO NOT ever use the word TRUFFLE to make it sound like your mocha or hot chocolate will be rich and chocolatey. I take my chocolate very seriously and my drink was really bad. It wasn't even good enough to be an average mocha :( Based mostly on this they lose a ton of stars. The quality of the sandwiches was not enough to offset this disgust in the chocolates. The service is ok. Both the cashier and server were kind of tired or drone like. The decor is nice enough. Reminds me of a cross between BJ's and Panera. Their brand name logo is cheesy. It's a baker. It looks like it was generated from the stock pictures Powerpoint has haha! Lame! Their name is not particularly creative. They have a cool outdoor seating area. Nice ambiance, music isn't too loud, plenty of places to sit (just limited outlets) and the staff is great. The food is for sure over priced. I would stop here on my break at work, but then only go if it is a necessary evil. I don't really get it, why people come here, it's like glorified cafeteria food. Their cheapest oat meal is like $4.65 Starbucks sales a comparable one for $2.75 or so, and no I'm not a starbucks fan either. I don't drink caffeine, but their oatmeal is cheaper. And corner bakery oatmeal gave me more just a cracker with sugar on it for almost $5. Tomato basil soup tasted like salt water with canned tomato sauce that had not been cooked enough to remove the sour taste. It tried to pose as a real sit down restaurant but really its just a blend of fast food and cafeteria food. I did like their arugula salad okay with parmesan cheese, but that's easy and in general I'd have to pass on this place. But the staff and manager were always helpful and friendly in my experience.
