There are a lot of one and two stars for a reason. It is pretty awful. I really wanted to like this spot as most local country kitchens are excellent. Other than very inexpensive, it was bad - really bad. I had fried pork chops and mashed potatoes. The pork chops were thin and reminded me of a piece of leather. Zero flavor. No seasoning. The mashed potatoes are instant, and not even good instant. They had the consistency of grits and very watered down. A read a couple review about the gravy, it does taste very strange, not good. Even the ketchup had a very strange flavor. Service was friendly. Lots of locals on a first name basis. Sorry to say, skip this place, you will thank me later. read more

been a new 'New Management' sign flapping in the breeze for a couple of weeks now so I figured "why not... what have we got to lose? maybe a couple minutes and a few dollars?" so me and Paul stopped in for some chit-chat and a little something from the breakfast menu. first thing you notice walking in is that the management is the only thing new here; the tables and chairs, booths and counter, the NASCAR hangings on the wall (and maybe even the menu) are all turn of the century stuff. Paul says it looks the same as it ever has which is way less comforting than you might imagine. we took a booth on the side and menus, coffee, and waters arrived shortly... Paul got Corine's Special - two eggs easy, bacons, and french toasts; and I had a Casserole - slightly undercooked hash browns, scrambled egg, sausage bits, and cheese, under country gravy with a biscuit on the side to which I added several blasts of hot sauce. service was fast and efficient; coffee was hot, black, and abundant; food was good by any standard but not stellar. it's a breakfast and breakfast is rarely stellar even if it's the special... so just keep serving people the food like like they like it and we'll all get along fine. read more

Breakfast stacker was not good at all. The gravy was weird and so was the sausage. Sent it back and got burger and fries. They were good although unremarkable. Waitress was very friendly and understanding. She said others had complained about the gravy. Definitely won't go back. Way too many other places in this genre. read more

Oh boy! The one good thing is the server was friendly! My husband is limited to time because of location for his lunch break. So his team and I went to a diner a few miles from the Plant. Yikes! The food did not look appetizing at all. I knew immediately and didn't order anything. My husband ordered the chicken fried steak and corn and green beans. Portion size extremely small. His partners ordered a Turkey sandwich, Specially Spaghetti and meatballs and not sure what the other two ordered since it all looked the same to me. They say home cooking with a touch of Dutch cooking. Never had Dutch food so not sure what the touch was. My husband said it was nothing to rave about. Spaghetti was not great. Turkey sandwich was fried on outside and our team member ate it all so I assume it was ok. My husband wanted a chocolate shake, shakes offered on the menu. Server said oh I'm not sure if we offer chocolate shakes, in the 3 years she has worked she never seen one made. I strongly advised my husband not to get one since that probably meant the ice cream could be pretty old as well. The unsweetened tea was so strong that the guys had to order a soda because it was upsetting their stomachs. It seems to be a local favorite, saw several people who look to come here often. Ate there over the weekend and was not impressed. The breakfast was fair service was fine food mostly low level quality and you would do much better at home. Really an old family restaurant with a lot of wear and tear. There is No ambiance to had here and the quality of Does not make it worth while. Great Service but little else. Stopped by for lunch today. Used to come here rather often because this was a favorite of my Sister-In-Law. In any case, it's much the same in terms of great service but time has not been kind to the menu or the food in general. Walked in and one of the servers indicated that I should seat myself which I did. My server was there in almost record time. She proved to be one of the better servers I've had lately and was the high point of this visit. She asked what I wanted to drink which was coffee and water which she brought back to my table along with a lunch menu.She gave me a choice between the breakfast and the lunch menu and this was at 12:30. Was looking at something a bit lite so I ordered a Grilled Chicken Breast, Tater Tots and Fried Okra. First impression of the Coffee was that it was not fresh and had a burnt taste to it. The Chicken Breast was the smallest Breast I have ever seen. A photo has been posted. There is another restaurant in Mooresville that tongue in cheek offers the biggest breast in Mooresville. This one has got the other end of the spectrum nailed down. The Grilled Chicken was very overcook to the point where it was dry and tough. The tater tots were overcooked and hard and even using ketchup as a last resort, did not help. Normally Fried Okra is well drained but this time it was swimming in grease to the point that when I dropped one on my shirt, it made an immediate stain which had to be treated prior to going into the laundry. When I finished the Okra, there was a good layer of oil in the bowl that it was severed in. Finally the last point was when it came time to check out, the lady at the cash register was more interested in a running conversation with another lady than in ringing me out. The one star is for the waitress and her good service. But the food was not at all good. We go out to breakfast more than we go out to dinner. We have just moved to the Lake Norman area and are looking for our favorite breakfast/lunch place. It is not Corine's. It looks like there are good intentions and friendly people, but the food was horrible. I ordered the "Breakfast Casserole". It was a dish of almost raw hashbrowns, with chopped sausage, two eggs and a white sauce that was supposed to be "gravy". It was like paste, or cream of mushroom soup without any mushroom. I assure you, the hashbrowns never saw the grill. They were just barely hot. It looked to me that everything at Corine's is thawed from frozen, or at least most of it. My spouse had a chicken salad sandwich about which he only said "terrrible". Cheap, but not worth the low prices. read more

This place needs some major help. I don't know how they are still in business. Maybe because of the senior citizens of the world. I mean the price is nice 5$ for a breakfast sure.. but you get what you pay for. Cold, nasty, plain breakfast. I can't get over the bathroom and how dirty the floors are in this place. They need to close for a week and do a deep clean. I'm not sure how the health department hasn't shut them down. I guess that's why they have an 83 score. My husband and I do breakfast dates, instead of dinner dates, for various reasons, mainly because we don't want to leave teenage boys alone at nighttime. I really wish Mooresville had more places to go for breakfast, because I just can't say anything good about this cafe's food. Yes, it's a large place, which makes it very noisy, but accommodates larger crowds. We go here because it's the closest place for us to meet my parents for breakfast (a family tradition for me). Corrine is evidently from Holland, as pictures are everywhere of that country. She is very tall and must believe that everyone else is as well. In the ladies restroom I would have had a difficult time changing my child as I'm 5'5" and the changing table was at least 4' high. The sink and soap dispenser are extremely high, however, the toilet paper was almost on the ground. Now for the food. I tried her waffles, ONCE! The pancakes, ONCE. It says on the menu that she puts a 'Dutch Flair' in her food, which in that first bite you can tell. It's a malt taste, which would be good if it wasn't so prominent. It's not a subtle taste at all. The pancakes have this weird consistency and are not the typical color that we know here in the south. (This would be ok, if they tasted better). The grits are always lumpy or runny, never in between. We ordered hash browns instead today and asked for them to be extra crispy. I wish I'd taken a picture of them, they were barely even cooked. Our eggs are almost, always, over cooked and the bacon is limp. I asked for liver mush (a southern version of the northern Scrapple) this time and it is obviously deep fried, but they must have forgotten it was in there because the crust was too thick. Not to mention, had they cut that piece in half and given two slices, it would have been better and the middle wouldn't have been lukewarm. My son's eggs were cold by the time we got our order, but it was a busy morning, so I will give a little on this one. My husband says the biscuits taste like they came out of a can. A friend ordered country ham and it was just tiny pieces, full of gristle (She did take a picture of it). I'm really surprised that there isn't any competition for this place, or that it's as limited as it is. As for the service, it's hit or miss. I know that a lot depends on the customers, but there are some crabby waitresses in this place. There are a couple who are good though. If you hate your job that much, find a new one or change your disposition, it would help you get better tips. So, just be prepared if. you go here, to have mediocre service and lackluster food. read more

Had lunch here today with my husband and let me tell you this was our last time! The food is terrible and they charge way too much for stuff that's premade and not homecooked. I had the "spicy" chicken tender plate with black eyed peas and mac and cheese with cornbread. The tenders were any old frozen chicken tenders drizzled in wing sauce, the mac n cheese (made on site they said) is almost flavorless, pretty much noodles, milk and maybe some cheese. The peas were straight out of the can and barely warm. The cornbread was dry as a popcorn fart. There may be a couple items that are homemade but they still aren't good. The sign out front says "under new management", maybe they need to keep looking. There's also a nice surprise on the wall as your paying your check, an 89 from the health dept! Had I known this when I came in I would have saved myself some money on terrible food. The servers and cashier apparently know it's no good because they never asked how anything was, just if we had everything we ordered. Don't waste your time or money on this place. It's a diner! Not 5-Star by any means but I eat their occasionally. The Pros plenty of tables to eat. Service is OK. Cons: they need to de-chlorine the water they used to make grits. For the longest I thought the grits taste like metal which is scary but I tried them once again and realize it's Mooresville City Water chlorine taste. Maybe they should invest in a purifier and boil the water before making grits. read more

Drive the extra 10 min to Troutman or downtown Mooresville. Don't waste your time on this place. The service is horrible. They do not tell you whether to seat yourself or wait by the door. When I asked the closest staff person, I got "Yeah" as an answer. Short, but effective I suppose. The food is even worse than the service. It took them about 30 min to serve our breakfast which came out less than warm and most definitely microwaved. I got one cup of yesterday's coffee. My husband summed up our experience by saying. I enjoy a great breakfast. And my favorite thing there is called the stacker. You can get it with bacon or sausage. One biscuit with gravy, bacon or sausage on top and cheese on top of the gravy. It's a little diner with great prices. Can take a little longer than most to get your food but it's always hot and you have to remember that this is a hot spot for breakfast as they aren't open for dinner and can get a little busy at time. The walls are covered with vintage NASCAR pictures that makes you feel like you are dining with your favorite drivers. The mashed potatoes seemed to be instant and the rolls was store bought. Corine's is an unassuming little diner on the corner lot of a small strip of other shops. But as soon as we walked in, I was blown away by the smell of home cooking. The seating was confusing since no one greeted us and told us to seat ourselves. Once we sat down, we were greeted by an uber friendly waitress who told us she was also a transplant from Texas. My son ordered a chocolate chip pancake which came out fluffy and chock full melty chips. He loved it. I got some combo that include fried potatoes which were seasoned with paprika. Very well done. The eggs were good. I wish the coffee was better but it was passable. The only reason i didn't give Corine's five stars is because everything felt sticky and we waited a really long time for our food and our check. But my son voted that this is our new go to place for breakfast. read more
