Taking up CorePower's first free week to see what it's all about! Came to this location twice now. Street parking is easy and the entrance is on the side. This location is a small with two studios, but the classes will kick your body! They have lockers, but not a locker room or showers. If there isn't anyone manning the front, they will lock the doors. They have hydrating amenities packets for you if needed. They have a little retail area with great prices, I even bought a CorePower tank for $17! Haven't yoga in a while, so I was being careful and listened to my body. Took CorePower Yoga 1 and Hot Power Fusion. Yoga 1 was a really nice refresher for me (taken one class before) and it really reminded me of all the poses names! I was able to flow with it and Jamilla was really good at reassuring us that we were doing it correctly or mentioning adjustments for the proper pose. I had a good sweat and my bpm was at 141 during the height of the class. Whew! Felt great though! Hot Power Fusion was a little different for me. It wasn't hot yoga, but it was hot. I think it was about 85 degrees. Jamie was also great at reassuring us on our poses and demonstrating for me, since I'm still "new" at this. I definitely challenged myself balancing on my toes and going for eagle pose. Overall I enjoyed my yoga classes, except that there were a total of 2 people in class. It was during late morning, so I'm sure everyone else had to work. It would've been more inspiring or motivating, IMO. read more

Update: when I called core power yoga headquarters I was in touch with a manager in HR. I told her my experience and she said it was the employees accessing data. I physically went into my old studio and an employee told me they don't have access to that data. Once I relayed that to the HR manager, she stopped responding to my emails. I have been going to CorePower for a long time and when I finally committed and bought the unlimited membership I was screwed. Somehow, the system created a second membership for me. So, I was charged double for the two memberships. Then, when I called to fix the issue and cancel the second membership that their system created for me, I was charged an additional $100 cancellation fee. If customer service wasn't so helpful in resolving these insane charges and the classes weren't so good I would quit immediately. But they really need to get that under control because it's already too expensive, and to be accidentally charging your clients such large amounts is ridiculous. Get it together. read more

Raise your hand if you're a CP lover. Yes it's me.. hello. This studio is a stones throw away from my house so I try my best to get here multiple times a week. The studio is smaller than other ones i've been so it gets snug at times inbetween classes. Again it's a hot yog-esque studio so the 'funk' and 'smell' do hit you in the face. Idk i guess i've gotten used to it and have given in lol! Keira is THE BEST instructor I've ever had. Her classes are so darn hard because she really asks you to work on your form and hold a pose to build out those core muscles. Closely follows are Katherina, Jonathan, Josh Da - amazing teachers! PRO TIP: get to Keira's and Katherine's classes at least 15 minutes early. they always fills up and you have to double stack on top! read more

I've been to CorePower many, many times over the past four years, but this was my first time at this particular location. It just feels very...small and cramped. The distance from the front door to the cubbies to the check-in desk is only a few steps, making for a very chaotic experience before and after class. The whole time I was here, I kept thinking that this location could be great if it was twice the current size. This thought continued as it was time for class and we were all squeezed into the practice room, almost mat-to-mat. Just when I thought it couldn't get more crowded, two more people came in after class started, making it an even tighter fit. Instead of thinking about my breath and the poses, I was worried about accidentally touching or kicking the people beside, in front of, and behind me. Unlike other CorePowers, they DO NOT have a locker room, just two bathrooms that are barely large enough to change in. There are also no showers, so be aware of this and plan accordingly. The experience wasn't all bad, though. Surprisingly, I was easily able to find street parking one street over even on a weekday evening. The instructor was also warm and welcoming. Hi, I am Hanna and I am the least flexible person you will ever meet. CorePower has been my new and favorite way to workout while working on my flexibility. The workers are so knowledgeable about their practice. The instructors genuinely care for the students and they are walking around to help improve the different moves. I have also been to the Colorado blvd location and they are very similar in the way that the classes are ran. It is nice because each class and each instructor is a little different in their teachings and their routines. With all the different CorePower locations it is nice to switch it up with locations to where I am closest to. CorePower is definitely worth the $$$$$ read more

I LOVE CorePower Yoga and have been going to various locations for years. I like this studio a lot even though it's quite small. Miranda is my absolute favorite instructor she is so kind, gives succinct direction and doesn't ask for open mouth exhales which seem to have become exceedingly popular and make me want to puke. Has everyone forgotten yoga is all about the sealed lips breath of fire? When 30+ sweat soaked humans are filling a stagnant room with recycled hot morning breath I feel like i'm actually suffocating. Minus one star for no showers at this location. read more

I have such a complicated relationship with core power. Here are some positives and negatives on the experiences I've had at multiple CPs in Denver and Boulder. Good: -Offers the most class times and locations of any studio. Its not even close. If you want to do a class midday, late at night or on the weekends, most of the time CP is your only option. There are probably 3-4 locations within 10 minutes drive of pretty much any where you live in denver. -Most of their classes are heated/warm. They have traditional "hot yoga" but all their C2's and others are in a warm room. Bad -Quality vs. quantity. I've learned over the years yoga is all about the teachers. CP has very high turnover with teachers and most of them seem underexperienced. Simply put and generally, CP has the least quality teachers of any studio in Denver. I feel CP is "gateway yoga" for teachers and students both. -Expensive, even compared to smaller independent studios. Seeing as this is a corporate business and they have multiple locations nationwide, I would think they would have less of a profit margin than a single independently owned studio. But, being business minded they also realize their classes are packed and can charge more. Also, they offer $9 classes often (beware, teachers can be even worse in these. My theory is that these classes are "practice classes" for newer teachers." Other -This is "western/workout/exercise" yoga. There is no spiritual side and not much emphasis on the mind/breathing aspect either., which is good or bad depending on what you're looking for. If you're looking for spiritual Yoga, try Samadhi. If you want to workout and sweat, this a great place for it. I would recommend any beginner or person looking to hone their "practice or postures" to take a class at a studio that offers a more detailed, intimate and comprehensive experiences. (I would reccommend Vital or Root.) Once you have a decent set of fundamentals, CP provides the opportunity to enjoy a warm warm at a time and place that is convenient to you. Side note about the Highlands location: It's going to be a hot steamy messy clusterfuck in the hallway/check in area/locker room/storage room. I think they are renovating but as of 2-15-12 be prepared for a bit of chaos. read more

This studio might be my favorite CorePower one so far, despite the lack of a changing area and the very cramped entryway. Everyone puts their belongings into cubbies or lockers in the entryway, so it can take a while to get in and out of the studio, especially out. Bring your own lock if you want to use a locker. There are two single-user bathrooms, but no showers. There are two yoga rooms at this studio, a smaller one and a bigger one. Part of me wonders why they don't just eliminate the smaller room and create a better entryway flow. I like this studio a little better than the other ones for a few reasons: Class isn't always as crowded as classes at other studios, although sometimes it is. Especially in January. The bigger studio doesn't get quite as hot as the others; it's still very hot, don't worry. People are friendlier. I'm not sure why, but it's nice that other people going to class actually smile and say hello. Maybe because of the cramped entryway. Parking isn't too bad. I never had trouble finding a spot on Julian. Like the other CorePower places, the blocks are stinky. I bring a towel to cover the block. The usual CorePower classes, so you know what you're getting. The Hot Power Fusion class is my favorite. Nice and hot, with more time spent on balancing poses. CorePower isn't my favorite yoga studio, but I like it enough to buy a Groupon deal when it comes up. CorePower's biggest strength is its many locations and many class options. I always get a good workout. read more

So glad to have CorePower in the Highlands. I'm no "yoga-purist" and CorePower is a great fit for me. So far I've had good instruction, the music has been a nice change from the mind-numbing new age-y stuff I've come to expect. The facility, while small, is very clean and nice. No showers, but that's ok. Only thing you should be aware of-- make sure to arrive at least 5 minutes prior to the start of class because you may find yourself locked out if you don't. I arrived exactly three minutes prior to class starting and found myself of the sidewalk with two other students in the same boat as me. We waited for almost ten minutes trying to figure out if the class going on was in fact our class. Alas it was so we all left, heads hanging low. I think if this is the policy, a note on the door might be in order. read more

I'm not from the area, but my best bud who lives in Denver goes here from time to time, so I decided to give it a try. I went for an $8 class, which is a super great deal. First class was C1, maybe? I did not love it, but I did not hate it. I liked the space quite a bit and the room was pretty warm, which was nice. But it wasn't really a workout and it wasn't really traditional yoga. Also, definitely not for real beginners or for people who have no experience with yoga. The instructor didn't really talk through the poses and it was pretty fast-moving. I went back the next morning for an $8 hot yoga class. Again, great deal. The class was in the small room because the big room was being worked on, so we were all packed in there like sardines. It wasn't a big deal, though it does start to get a little stinky with everybody sweating so much. I enjoyed the instructor and the class was quite a workout, but also relaxing. Ok, and this has absolutely nothing to do with the yoga experience and is actually pretty un-yoga-like, but I just need to add that there was a guy there who had the most perfect body I've ever seen in real life. It was incredibly distracting. So, you know, watch out for that! Bottom line: I would definitely go back when I'm in Denver again...and I wish that they would open a place in the DC/MD area! read more

I have been going to corepower for over a year now and while I do really like the classes the locations themselves vary a lot on quality of the building. This highlands location on 32nd ave was very disappointing simply because they did not have a locker room or showers! Showers are definitely a MUST after the amount i sweat in a hot yoga class. The lockers they do provide are tiny and right next to the street so anybody can come in. It was super cramped and I like my space when im sweating buckets. Right now my favorite location is Westminster since their locker room is larger and you aren't running into peoples' sweaty bodies while trying to get dressed in the locker room. The studio is also quite large and I dont have trouble parking. For the price you pay for this yoga class I would love to see better locker rooms and just larger studios and a class maximum. I have even left a class because they stuffed SO many people into the room. The teachers are great and there isn't any uppidy yogi vibes going around for the most part. Welcoming to all shapes and sizes. Its definitely more of an athletic yoga than some, which is what I like. I do not use yoga religiously but to cleanse my body and get a work out in. read more

This place has made me fallen in love with yoga. I had only tried yoga once in high school and it was ok. I never wanted to try it again until I recently moved back to Denver and decided to give it another go. I have very high stress levels and have heard how amazing yoga is for the body and mind. I also recently got an interview for physical therapy school and wanted to work on strengthening my core and my posture. I think yoga and pilates type exercises can be very good in helping people overcome inuries and stress on the body as well as getting through pt rehab. I first tried the beginning yoga and it was amazing. It was such a relaxing environment and I loved all of the poses. My favorite class is the hot power fusion. I love being in the hot humid environment. I literally feel as if all of the toxins and negative energy are being released from my body. I recently tried yoga sculpt and it was probably the hardest workout I have ever done. That's saying a lot as I am always do different types of cardio and leg work. I don't know if yoga sculpt is for me because I like going to yoga more to relieve my stress and put me in a positive mind-set...other days are set aside purely for cardio. I would definitely recommend core power yoga! I Such a peaceful environment and all of the instructors are amazing! Fell in love with yoga because of CorePower and THIS studio. I used to only run and lived for running, but CorePower has changed that - I still run but my body is SO much happier with yoga 3 to 4 times a week and running twice a week. I've taken classes at several studios, including the nearby LoHi, and the Highlands studio is still far and away my favorite. Yes, it is small, but that means it's not intimidating for someone new to yoga. There is not a locker room, but I take classes after work, change in one of the two large, clean bathrooms, and I'm good to go. Plus, it's Denver - you can go to dinner anywhere on 32nd still in your sweaty yoga clothes after class and no one cares. The instructors are really what make the studio. It took a few tries of going to multiple studios and many classes, but I've figured out the instructors whose style works for me - can't get enough of their classes now! Moral of the story - if you just go once and don't click with it, try again with a different instructor. I'm a big fan of sculpt classes taught by Michelle, Keira, and Meeg, Mari's Saturday C2, and April's Wednesday HPF! read more

The instructor kicked my butt, but I am a beginner, so I should expect that. This studio is on the small side. The hallway gets very crowded before and after class. The yoga room was pretty tight and no locker rooms available. So please plan enough time for shower at your house after class. There are yoga mats and towels to rent. Water for purchase and some yoga clothes to buy as well. Jen, the instructor, was great. Though this is beginner class, she was a little on the quick side. So if you are totally new to yoga sign up for a second or third class with her. She did stop and show people how to do the moves beforehand and there was an extra helper which was great. And they also add in some crunches in the middle for a little ab work. This is my second CorePower studio in my first free week. So try out different locations to find your favorite. I like the larger studio in LoHi with the ryder classes, but this one is good too...small with 2 classrooms. Entry level to hot power fusion classes that you can look up online at corepoweryoga.com . I will say that I've had a hard time finding classes that I want on certain days. It also seems more catered to people who don't work during the day. I always leave feeling like I got a good workout in. It's a great place to not feel intimidated. The employees are all friendly. Some instructors are awesome while others don't seem too experienced. I wish they cleaned the floors and blocks better. Always dibris, hair and dust that gets stuck to my hands and legs. Being that the studio gets hot and people are working out, sometimes there are some stinky- ass people in this place, and unfortunately because the place is so small, the studio stinks a little bit. My biggest concern with this place is if you're in the small studio, when the other class gets out, there is always a few rude people that stand outside talking loudly. It's disruptive, and the instructors don't shush them. I give them four stars because I do enjoy my practice here, but it would be nice if the negatives were addressed :) read more

I've taken a few classes at CorePower Yoga in the Highlands and have really enjoyed them. I wish there were more options for classes that are warm and not hot with so much humidity. The teachers have all been wonderful and so helpful. The only complaint I have is that there isn't proper shoe storage or a locker room at this studio. They have cubbies but you can't fit boots in them in winter. I put my Ugg boots in the open shoe storage area and when I came out of my class they were gone. I don't know if it was an accident and someone thought they were their boots or if it was on purpose but I am incredibly disappointed. My teacher was so sweet and helpful and promised to do her best to track them down and would call me if they were returned but unfortunately that has not yet happened. In short I would recommend the studio to new students but tell them to bring crappy shoes (not $195 Uggs) and a lock (there are no locking lockers on the cubbies provided). read more

I went to my first day of yoga at this studio via a Groupon promo. Took the Yoga Sculpting class taught by Raven. It was tough but a great workout, including the music (some cool, indie dance stuff versus a lot of sitar snooze). She was inspiring and kept things going until the end. After just this one class, I'm hooked. But - they need to improve their iPhone app to include each studio address and phone number, and if anything, have staff who can always answer the phone. I forgot to check the address on their website before I left the house, and having to call 411 (twice, the operator first connected me to the wrong location), I got their voicemail - at both locations. That auto set up during biz hours doesn't equal good customer service, especially when I walk in and see that the person at the desk is sitting there right by the phone. read more

I know people condemn Corepower for being all corporate, etc. I still adore it though! They have heated classes and convenient locations and class times. However, I can't stand this particular location. There are some good instructors here, but this studio is just too small. There's no changing room and you have to arrive very early to find a space to put your mat down in class. Sometimes I get anxious just thinking about whether I will find a parking spot and have time to check in and get settled in before class here. Don't even get me started on what happens after class, when you are completely drenched in sweat and have to fight your way out of class to the exit. I shouldn't have to get so worked up worrying about logistics over a yoga class!! Sadly, this is the closest CPY to my house, but I usually opt to go to Grant street and the Broadway studio, where I have more room to just breathe! I hear CPY is expanding and will be opening another studio in this area so I look forward to that. I hope it will be bigger and have a locker room!!! read more

This Corepower is a very small, two room location. Though small, fierce as they offer quite the variety of classes. I went last night for my first Corepower 1 for beginners yoga. Small class (4 students) but the instructor was awesome! Really helped me adjust my poses. I was traumatized at the amount of at students there were at the free LoHi class last year, so I've been hesitant to try this location as the area is very active. I had an amazing experience at Core Power. I was in town visiting a friend who had to do a few hours of work, leaving me on my own, so I decided to drop in on a yoga class. I called a few different places and this one seemed like the least amount of hassle for a drop in. The front desk attendant warmly greeted me, got me set up with a mat, towel and water bottle. It turned out to be a good thing that I thought she was so friendly because guess what, she was teaching my class as well! I'm assuming they have a lot of regulars because she seemed to know most people in the class by name. She was just as attentive to me and watching my form, even knowing I wouldn't be a repeat customer since I don't live in the area. It was a good class, and a very warm class (Turns out all the classes have their temperatures listed on the website which I somehow completely missed. I became very thankful for that towel!). The experience left me considering trying out a week or so of CorePower yoga at home, just to see if they are all this great (even though I already belong to 2 gyms and really don't need to join a 3rd). read more

Rates: Corepower is right on the market and even has a first week free and 55+ rates. I then decided to check out the Corepower on 32nd in Denver. The moment I stepped in, I felt welcomed and comfortable (very).....Liz took her time in sharing with me the variety of classes and the schedules, offering suggestions to meet my needs along the way. Our conversation was joined by April, one of the instructors there. These women were such delights, it's as we've been friends for a long time. I felt no pressure to 'sign up' but rather an invitation to join in on the class April was about to teach, which I did! April is an absolute excellent instructor! She is mindful of everyone's capabilities, communicates very well, and thoughtful in what she adds to her classes and students. CorePower Yoga is not what it used to be. The teachers are inexperienced and the temperature is not controlled as appropriate. I would equate their L2 class to an introductory class at other studios, no advance poses. It's more of a cardio/modified yoga class that fits into globogym styles. If you're looking to advance your yoga practice this is not the studio for you. But if you are looking to get a light cardio workout in with a high paced yoga influenced routine, this is it. read more

I've been practicing yoga at CorePower for the past 7 years, and it is truly the best yoga I've found in Denver. The studios are BEAUTIFUL, and the style of yoga is so fun and challenging. I'm so glad CPY opened a studio in the Highlands - it's just a few minutes from where I work, so it's easy and convenient to walk over there for a lunchtime or after-work class. I am almost done with my free week at this studio. I had never tried Corepower classes before and really liked Hot Power Fusion! Though I'd previously tried and hated bikram yoga, HPF was not quite as hot, a shorter duration (60 minutes), shorter holds for poses and just all around more interesting for me. It was also done in candlelight which was a first for me, and added to the challenge. I learned a few new poses and twists on old poses, and my favorite part about this class is how much time is spent standing and balancing. This has always been my favorite part of yoga, though the part I'm least skilled at too. I know sun salutations are the foundation poses but honestly sometimes I get bored in the first half of other yoga classes and just can't wait to try balancing. That's the part of class where I finally can truly stop my brain from thinking about everything else going on because I'm focusing on (and usually failing at) standing still and upright. So I liked that the HPF class was structured and sequenced a bit differently than the classes I'm used to. It's not all flow, to me there is a lot of focus required which has both physical and mental benefits. I also liked the 3-4 minutes of abs toward the end because it seemed like an all-around good workout. This studio is not nearly as crowded as I expected. The only downside is the small waiting area up front, but I liked the wall cubbies to store stuff like my car keys and flip flops. I will definitely get a class pack here to keep trying HPF, maybe a Core Restore and maaaaaybe a C2 class. Maybe! read more

CONSIDER YOURSELF WARNED. Core Power Yoga has opened up a new studio in Highland close to 32nd & Zuni on the corner of Caithness Place. It is in the new apartment building there. They say there are over 300 parking spaces outside the studio. If you are familiar with this area there is a HUGE parking problem. Not sure where ANYONE will park? When I called to inquire about classes a woman who worked there admitted she had to drive around 3 times to find parking. The studio hasn't even opened yet. Unless you can "walk in" I highly recommend looking elsewhere. Poor planning on this one imo. What a disappointment. read more
