Niagara Dog Training - Sit at heel on leash

We completed 5 private consultations with Cat, who was professional and informative with me and friendly yet firm with my canine sidekick. When we started, my dog would lunge, snarl and bark at male dogs and try to bully and roll puppies/young dogs. Although an experienced dog owner, I was at my wit's end and dreaded walking him because it was so stressful, kind of scary and painful on my arms. Cat showed me strategies which were humane and relied on capturing my dog's interests and attention, then using praise when I got the behaviour I was looking for. She was also reinforcing to work with because she acknowledged my experience and knowledge of dogs, so I felt respected and invited into the conversation about how to build on what I've already been doing to get him to the next level. Our sessions ended about a month ago. This past week, we encountered a puppy who had gotten loose from his backyard and was climbing all over my dog, who clearly didn't like it but he exercised restraint and was gentle toward the dog. Once we got the puppy back to its owner, my dog was so proud of himself (and got lots of praise for his good work). A few months ago, pre-Cat, this would never have been possible. I have to admit, when the puppy came bounding up to us, I was dreading what would happen but also concerned for the puppy because we were on a busy street. My dog acted like the uncle who hates kids but tolerates the them climbing on him at family events because they're family. There was no growling, lunging or rolling of puppies. No puppies were harmed in this interaction. The little guy got back to his family safely and my big guy got all sorts of praise and affection for his hard work. My dog walker also shared that he has been exposed to her daughter's puppy who he is gentle toward and even seems to enjoy her. What growth! Today, we encountered a male dog in our neighbourhood who I have been working hard to avoid because my dog has previously lunged and snarled at this dog from across the road. This dog looks as though he would fight back if they met face to face. His owner was friendly and understanding when I explained from a distance that my boy was unpredictable, so we just watched our dogs' body language and allowed the approach to proceed accordingly. I couldn't have been prouder of my dog. Both dogs were friendly and polite about their meeting each other, then played as much as they could with each other while on leash. It was such a major turning point. The strategies that Cat taught me gave me the confidence to take this chance and it worked out. I couldn't be prouder of my boy and the growth he's accomplished through our training. It feels so good to have the confidence to relax and enjoy our walks, knowing that he's learning to interact with dogs in a friendly manner. Thank you :)

I would say the rudeness of Sabina Gross toward all members of the class was only the secondary reason for the one star. The first reason was her OBSESSION with us getting a prong collar, despite Clearly saying we would not be using one. She then continued to talk down to us and say "it's going to be a lot more work and you'll need some upper body strength". Well, then I guess she's not a very good trainer... My favourite part of the class was when we walked in circles in a gym learning heel for an hour, which was not only boring for us, but was extremely boring for our dog. She made her dogs do a down stay for the full hour on the hard floor. About halfway through, her shepherd decided he was tired of that and got up, so she stopped the class and walked over to him. He then started crouching down, his head went down, and his tail went between his legs, she got to him, she gave her prong collar a hard tug downward with the leash, which I'm sure didn't feel very nice, and then when he still didn't lie down, she did it again. Clearly her dog is not trained without a prong collar as that was her only method she used for training. Anyone looking for a rude trainer, a prong collar, and a boring, pricey class should go here!!

It was embarassing daily when she barked and lunged at people for no apparent reason. I had my first 2 hour lesson with Jason last night, and the difference I can see in my Teeka already has made me enjoy our walk this evening, instead of me feeling uneasy of her reactions towards people we pass on our walks. I would highly recommend Jason as he was able to assess my dog's unwanted bullying behaviour as "guarding me" in my house and in public. He showed me how to take control at home, and and on our walks. I look forward to our next 3 sessions and a calmer and socially graceful pup.

My fear of doing the wrong thing was affecting my dog and was making me an ineffective dog owner. Jason corrected my behaviour so that we could correct my puppy's behaviour. She's 6 months old right now and is a very relaxed and well adjusted pup. Nobody ever tells you just how much work having a puppy is and Jason put my mind at ease and gave me the confidence to take her out and not over react to situations because now I KNOW that she will come when called. With Jason's help I learned to enjoy my puppy and everything that comes with being a puppy. I realize that her puppyhood is short lived and I am enjoying every minute of it. Within my first meeting with Jason I learned the basics of what to do and what not to do, what dogs need in order to thrive, (and no, it's not just bones and love) and how to properly communicate with my dog to let her know what I want from her. Trust is key in a relationship with your pet and I wouldn't have learned that without Jason's help. No amount of reading puppy books or talking to other dog owners will give you the in depth knowledge and hands on experience that Jason will provide. If you're doing something wrong, Jason will tell you and understand that this is what's best for your pet. Mango and I both love Jason and would highly recommend him to any old or new pet owners. Thanks Jason, see you at the dog park!

We were lucky enough to take obedience classes, fun workshops, and the "University" day school (combo of personalized training & doggy playtime/daycare) with our golden retriever, Midas. All the instructors and assistants are fantastic! Supernova has a gorgeous facility and all instruction is based on positive reinforcement and helping your dog to make good choices. They do an excellent job explaining what each baby step is meant to solidify--so that you as a human aren't tempted to skip a step and then wonder why your dog hasn't consistently followed through with their obedience skills. Classes are usually small (and/or have assistants to help) so that your dog gets 1-on-1 time to help with any issues you're working through. While training and practice is a lifetime thing, we have noticed impressive success with Midas' training and get compliments on his behavior considering his young age. We could not have done that without the help of Noelle, Kim, and the rest of the Supernova team.

You can tell this is a generational skill set because of how easy and instinctual the dog training is for them. I'm a contractor and I'm passionate about what I do and I can see the passion and effort that comes from how they conduct their services. Most importantly, they're trustworthy and they care. These are people that know what they're doing and they're easy to deal with. I had to do a lot of searching and researching before I settled on them because I have a dog with a lot of issues and I love her to death. I'm very happy I settled on them. It ended up being the right choice.

THANK YOU! Thank you Mellow Vibes…read more We were referred here by a friend of ours who had a dog with aggression issues so we saw first hand what Mellow Vibes could do! Our dog, unlike most the dogs that I've seen in the reviews, is on the other end of the spectrum. Kaia is a 5, almost 6, year old husky/shepherd mix who has anxiety and fear and had zero socialization with the outside world and people. We adopted her at 4 years old and at that point, she was terrified of people and the world. Zero aggression, terrified of the world and a consistent flight risk. She would shut down when she saw people. If she could, she would make herself disappear from the world. Cowering, shaking, bolting, tail permanently tucked. Anything to get away. She couldn't function. We were having trouble bonding with her in the full year we had her because she was just so scared. Walks with her were full of dragging and bolting. She's pulled myself and my boyfriend over before when she was in a panic. She was incredibly stubborn with her commands. We eventually bit the bullet and contacted Mellow Vibes. They were the first trainer (and people in general) we talked to that did not judge what we did. The amount of times we heard from other trainers and people that we should not do this or that with our dog out of our desperation to build a bond with her (like letting her sleep on the bed with us or on furniture). They were the first trainers that understood where we came from and why we let her get away with certain things. We didn't feel judged for the first time or like we were being scolded. Instead, we got understanding and compassion. Paul spent 6 weeks with her. Let me tell you this, the amount of care and time he spent with her is astounding. Our dog was scared of EVERYONE but especially men, children and the elderly. Yet somehow, on our first meeting with Paul, she was calm. Paul kept us updated with her progress, pictures, videos, answering any of our questions or concerns. When it was finally time to pick her up, Paul trained us on his techniques of dealing with our dog's issues. We were met with a dog that listened to commands and when we did our walk with Paul, holy moly we were able to walk through the busy busy streets of downtown. Later that day, we were able to walk her through a busy park with so many screaming kids. We. Could. Never. Do. That. Before. EVER. She seemed to adore Paul, always looking back at him for reassurance and a bit of confidence. I almost felt bad taking her home haha. You could tell she was at ease with him and she was WELL LOVED in her time there. YOU DO NOT HELP A DOG LIKE OURS BY "BREAKING THEIR SPIRIT" OR ABUSING THEM. Now, I don't think our dog will ever be a people dog but we were taught how to manage her issues and she, herself, was slowly learning that people, objects, etc would not hurt her. At home now, she is generally a happier dog. More smiles, more tail wags, more following us around (she never wagged her tail or followed us around like this before). Mellow Vibes truly has helped her come out of her shell. They continue to follow up with us with messages, phone calls for more tips or to answer any of our questions. The rest is now up to us to keep up with the training and to continue to develop our relationship with her. You do not rehabilitate a dog like ours with anything but love, patience (oh so much patience) and compassion.
