Very happy with how they handle the training and how good they are to take extra time and explain things. You can tell this is a generational skill set because of how easy and instinctual the dog training is for them. I'm a contractor and I'm passionate about what I do and I can see the passion and effort that comes from how they conduct their services. Most importantly, they're trustworthy and they care. These are people that know what they're doing and they're easy to deal with. THANK YOU! Thank you Mellow Vibes. We were referred here by a friend of ours who had a dog with aggression issues so we saw first hand what Mellow Vibes could do! Our dog, unlike most the dogs that I've seen in the reviews, is on the other end of the spectrum. Kaia is a 5, almost 6, year old husky/shepherd mix who has anxiety and fear and had zero socialization with the outside world and people. We adopted her at 4 years old and at that point, she was terrified of people and the world. Zero aggression, terrified of the world and a consistent flight risk. She would shut down when she saw people. If she could, she would make herself disappear from the world. Cowering, shaking, bolting, tail permanently tucked. Anything to get away. She couldn't function. We were having trouble bonding with her in the full year we had her because she was just so scared. Walks with her were full of dragging and bolting. She's pulled myself and my boyfriend over before when she was in a panic. She was incredibly stubborn with her commands. We eventually bit the bullet and contacted Mellow Vibes. They were the first trainer (and people in general) we talked to that did not judge what we did. The amount of times we heard from other trainers and people that we should not do this or that with our dog out of our desperation to build a bond with her (like letting her sleep on the bed with us or on furniture). They were the first trainers that understood where we came from and why we let her get away with certain things. We didn't feel judged for the first time or like we were being scolded. Instead, we got understanding and compassion. Paul spent 6 weeks with her. Let me tell you this, the amount of care and time he spent with her is astounding. Our dog was scared of EVERYONE but especially men, children and the elderly. Yet somehow, on our first meeting with Paul, she was calm. Paul kept us updated with her progress, pictures, videos, answering any of our questions or concerns. When it was finally time to pick her up, Paul trained us on his techniques of dealing with our dog's issues. We were met with a dog that listened to commands and when we did our walk with Paul, holy moly we were able to walk through the busy busy streets of downtown. Later that day, we were able to walk her through a busy park with so many screaming kids. We. Could. Never. Do. That. Before. EVER. She seemed to adore Paul, always looking back at him for reassurance and a bit of confidence. I almost felt bad taking her home haha. You could tell she was at ease with him and she was WELL LOVED in her time there. YOU DO NOT HELP A DOG LIKE OURS BY "BREAKING THEIR SPIRIT" OR ABUSING THEM. Now, I don't think our dog will ever be a people dog but we were taught how to manage her issues and she, herself, was slowly learning that people, objects, etc would not hurt her. At home now, she is generally a happier dog. More smiles, more tail wags, more following us around (she never wagged her tail or followed us around like this before). Mellow Vibes truly has helped her come out of her shell. They continue to follow up with us with messages, phone calls for more tips or to answer any of our questions. 10/10 INCREDIBLE!!! To say that Mellow vibes changed my life is an understatement. My dog came to Canada with severe fear based aggression. She would lunge, bark, growl, and try to bite anyone who came close to her. I would have to crate her every time family/friends came over and she was visibly unhappy and uncomfortable. I tried months of expensive one on one training for her but her aggression was just getting worse, to the point where we had to move up north and be completely isolated from other people. I sent her to mellow vibes - they kept her for 6 weeks, until she made drastic improvements. When I got her back, she was a completely changed dog. I don't really get the negative reviews. If you're thinking about it. Just do it. Our only regret is we didn't bring our dog previously hyper anxious Shiba Inu, Hana, earlier. Hana spend roughly 6 weeks at their house. I have to admit, I was super skeptical at first... but I decided to take the plunge because I thought, "well I can't keep doing what I'm doing now, so why the hell not" When we got Hana back, strangers would comment on how calm she seemed. She was immediately calm about everything - loud noises, other dogs, trucks, you name it. She is genuinely a happier dog. So of course, I couldn't be happier either. :) read more

I took my dog semi-reluctantly to Mellow Vibes Training (nobody wants to leave their dog with a stranger) but I had tried everything to stop his on-leash aggression with other dogs on leash. I paid the big bucks for one-on-one training with other reputable training places but nothing would work. After lots of research and talks with vets, I decided to meet Daniel at Mellow Vibes. He's a very friendly & funny guy who made me feel at ease right away. After the initial meeting with lots of questions & getting details, I knew my dog would benefit by training with him. I was right! My dog came back the same happy goofy boy but trained in a way I could never manage. We now go on long walks & don't run across the street to avoid other dogs. There's a lot for me to do to keep up his training but it's fun because I get to do it with my dog. Daniel has kept in touch with me often & is always there when I have questions. I rave about this business and Daniel to everyone I know but it's taken me ages to write a review and I apologize for that. My dog Ivy is now almost 5 years old. She was found on the street of Etobicoke at 2 months old with aggression towards humans and dogs. Although she was so sweet at home, this side of her would never show outside the home due to the unknown hardships and lack of socialization she had at a very young age. I could not find any trainer that would take her or wouldn't charge an insane amount. We found Mellow Vibes when our dog was around 8/9 months old and they completely changed ours and Ivy's life. She is an amazing dog and we're just so happy with how far she's come. She's 4.5 years old now, and although she may have times of aggression towards some humans and dogs, we now know exactly how to correct it and remedy the situation. We repeatedly hear from friends and strangers how trained and obedient she is. And what's even better is how happy she is about doing everything right and being a "good girl" :) Just to make something clear, although Daniel trains your dog well, it is very much up to you to uphold that training and keep it going. After Daniels all done with his part, he takes a few hours to train you on how to hold up all the training. It takes a lot of dedication and consistency to get to where we are now. And I can say with enthusiasm every year Ivy has gotten better and better. Although she took much longer than any other dog Daniel had trained at the time it was well worth the wait and I would 100% trust any dog with this lovely family. After getting my street dog from Brazil I thought he would just be like all the previous dogs I had which were from breeders and pet stores. Little did I know even though he seems great and very friendly that when he came to Canada and had to be walked on a leash or when I wanted to go take him to dog parks he would be a total nutcase! I brought him back to Canada at about six months of age to find him another home so I only did the odd training lesson with him because I didn't want to spend the money to do formal long-term training. I also couldn't find a trainer I liked since many of them used treats which my dog was sick of being bribed with or electric shock . Finally this spring when he was four years old and I knew it was fruitless to try adopt him out since he be dangerous to other dogs and kids and would probably end up in a Humane Society or euthanized, I decided to formally find another owner for him. I .was desperate to have some peace since he was also trying to attack my cats every time they tried growing on my lap I put an ad in a magazine to find a good owner who would treat him like I do somebody called me and said I should try mellow vibes dog training as a last ditch effort first. So I did and check them out online and called many people giving testimonials decided they were the ones to go with and after babe was trained then I could give them away or maybe keep him if he was super great. I met with them left him there a couple weeks later for his one-month training and went on my first holiday in four years. When I picked him up, I amazingly found over the next few days he was a totally different dog! He didn't go crazy when we walked past other dogs, he didn't try attacking my cats when they went near me or wanted to sit on my lap when I was reading, and he didn't take and less walks where sometimes we could be out for two hours before he go home or let me take them inside He sits when I tell him, stays when I tell him to, and he doesn't pull me on walks or bark at every dog that goes by him as he used to do and as most dogs do! I have to keep his training up and do the right corrections if he tries any funny stuff that odd times since in his mind he probably still wants to be boss but he's well trained now and what to do. I just can't spoil him as before and let him be the boss or he'll take advantage as before but as long as he thinks I'm boss were fine! Of course I'm a nice boss just a firm one! So mellow vibes certainly did a miracle as many trainers can't turn around a four-year-old dog let alone a four-year-old former Street dog! They saved our lives! Seriously. BABE, my Shepherd/Lab is a different dog! No longer is he chasing rabbits on our walks either! I can even leave him in a room alone with my cats while they're eating! THANKFULLY I am MUCH more relaxed since getting Babe trained there. Not too many trainers could turn around a 4 year old rescue dog like this without using shock collars. Since I'll have him maybe 10 more years, it was worth spending the money for a month of training. We recently brought our 9 month golden doodle puppy to Boysie and Daniel for training. We have small grandchildren and wanted her to remain calm around them . We have a 3 year old Rottweiler. He's a beautiful boy with major aggressive tendencies. As a result he has a muzzle order. I called Mellow Vibes two months ago after being on the verge of surrendering him, knowing that his chances of survival were slim. I spoke to Daniel who gave us hope that our boy could be helped. Daniel at Mellow Vibes Dog Training worked with Wheels, my 7 year old pug/beagle/shar-pei mix. Before training, Wheels was unpredictable and aggressive, and he barked and growled at most things. He would attack men he didn't know, as well as large-breed dogs (he's medium-sized) and unfixed puppies. When folks would come over to the house, Wheels would have to be gated into a separate room, where he'd bark and snarl and pace around. It was very stressful as I had little control over him, and the only way I could manage him was to keep him mostly away from dogs and people. He could only be around a handful of folks that he was comfortable with. I decided that an investment in training had to be a priority. I sent him to Mellow Vibes, where it turned out that Wheels was one of the most dominant, territorial and strong dogs in Mellow Vibes' long history. They kept him and worked with him for eight weeks (longer than the average stay), but Daniel didn't charge more, and more importantly, they didn't give up on him. They were clear from the beginning that it was up to me to maintain the training when he got home. Wheels has now been home for two months, and I'm proud to say I have pretty good control over him. It was and continues to be a lot of ongoing work and drills to have perfect control, but it's well worth it, as Wheels is happier and calmer, and I've also been able to give him a lot more affection (previously if I pet him, he would hump me). The difference in my day-to-day life is amazing: my home is quiet and calm, folks can come over without me having to shut my dog away, and when I recently had workers doing repairs on my roof, the loud work didn't affect Wheels at all. He was also crate-trained at Mellow Vibes, and now views his crate as a safe place where he can relax. Mellow Vibes encouraged me to call at any time after Wheels came home if I needed any help or tips, at no extra charge, and that ongoing support is a great bonus. If I could give a ZERO rating I would. Driving from Ottawa, over 5 hours after communicating regularly with Daniel via Email, we had the consult. Note this review is 3.5 years later as my sister passed away 2 months after and I could not take on being barraged by Daniel who sided with his father's insane tactics, and actually denied the events. Of course he did, it's a family business and they WILL intimidate you to not write a bad review. It has bothered me ever since that someone else may experience exactly what these people do... they indeed BREAK your dog's spirit to gain obedience. We had the consult with Daniel, all was fine, we felt he was a good fit, UNTIL his father Boysie arrogantly took over with a mission to prove. He would not have Mika (our 20 lb Jack Russel mix), growl at him when he entered the room and persisted to move in on her. He spent NO TIME to gain any trust... a strange man who then took her down the hall, into the kitchen where the mother/wife was, I take it the 'test' did not work on introducing her, he took my dog out of sight up the stairs, where I proceeded to hear my dog yelping in fear. He returned saying "she's CRAZY". My dog (5 years old then), was abandoned to the streets at 5 months old, we don't know her history - we DO know she has FEAR aggression. So this grown man with something to prove, blames HER that his tambourine 'trick' of hitting her on the back-end did not work, so SHE is the problem, she did not submit. She defended herself towards a strange man inflicting FEAR and INTIMIDATION on her. There were countless Emails prior with Daniel that described her behaviour. His responses seemed hopeful that they could help and in the consult he reassured of a slow progress to success. DON'T BELIEVE THEM! Boysie was not about progress with a dog of her challenges. He stated he can't take the stress anymore at his age/65 because of complaints he has received from the neighbours. HE provoked her, he pushed her purposely to TRIGGER her to get her to react. So that he could in turn, then point out that she is a crazy barker (in fact she is actually not a barker, this 'bark' was a defensive attack that HE pushed on her). If he had cared and reviewed her file, this approach with a FEAR aggressive dog, is the LAST thing to do! I am just happy that we did not leave her behind in this environment. I hesitated this long to write a review out of FEAR myself after seeing Daniel's response to my Email concerns after this event. He intimidated by denying and projecting on us (which IS a form of bullying!); it was clear that they stand together even through LIES. Stating they have never turned away a dog until now, yet Boysie stated otherwise that sometimes they do if they are barkers. Never once was it stated (through all prior Emails), that IF your dog barks it's an automatic DEAL BREAKER. They literally rejected us with contradictory messages. Daniel insultingly stated that Boysie gave us free training so we should be grateful for his time, saying he could have charged us for consult & 'training' for 10 or 20 minutes (which was a step by step - get us out the door, down the sidewalk, to the car... before his next client shows up to the commotion). We were not fooled but they treated us like idiots. After driving 5 hours, staying overnight to ensure Mika would not be anxiety ridden from such a long car ride, we left stunned by what just happened. A blessing for MIKA and for us in the long run. Daniel deals with the interactions so beware of what actually happens to your dog behind closed doors! If you value your dog's spirit, care about his/her well-being both emotionally and physically, do NOT blindly leave your dog with the horrible tactics of 'Mellow Vibes Dog Training'. I have no doubt that their Reply to my review will be in line to that of other negative reviews.... they will deny, deject, and/or project all blame onto the client. We had tried other three places before but we didn't see any results on those places, until we found Mellow Vibes.Our dog started showing results since the first week. You're probably wondering, "Can Mellow Vibes Dog Training really fix my dog's problems?" Let me unequivocally answer that question for you up-front, "Yes!" Here's my story. My cute, cuddly and adorable miniature poodle, Anakin, was an absolute disaster. He would bite me and other people unprovoked, bite other dogs, claim people as his "property" and growl if others approached, bark at people in public, bark at doors and scratch through walls when we left the house, pee on the carpet (even through he was house broken), and just generally did not obey commands. My 7yr old dog Cali came to Daniel and Paul with behavioural issues such as pulling on walks, severe aggression toward other animals, separation anxiety as well as general anxiety. Through a unique set of circumstances she came to believe she was the boss and had to protect the family. Daniel and Paul from the start were very understanding toward us and this situation and worked their hardest to remind Cali that she was the dog and it was our job to take care of her. Through their training with her, and training with us as well, they helped us change the relationships we had with Cali. I remember picking her up from her stay with them and genuinely thinking she was like a different dog, she was so calm, and responsive, but at the same time she was still as sweet and lovey as ever. With consistent work once she was home we've been able to keep her calmer, and much less reactive to other animals, and completely eliminated pulling on the leash. Our story maybe quite different from many of those who have discovered Boysie and his family. Our dog was not aggressive or misbehaved but had extreme unexplainable anxiety and fear of just about everything on the planet. Boysie referred to him as a "Freaky Freaky dog" Having had 2 Golden Retrievers prior to Pablo, we figured getting a pup aged 10 months would be easier to deal with. When we took Pablo home immediately it was apparent that he had never been on a leash, never been inside a house or a car and was extremely timid. The day we brought him home, getting him in the car was a challenge and it was a nightmare to get him inside the house, he couldn't walk on the tiles or the hardwood floor and had no idea how to walk up stairs. What started that day and continued for the past 2 years was a living hell - we were unable to walk Pablo anywhere - he was always hyper vigilant, whipping his head from side to side, walking low to the ground, constantly looking behind, whimpering, drooling and lunging to run away from things, basically "freaking out" - you name it, he was afraid of it, garbage cans, garbage bags, strollers, people sweeping, signs, practically everything. We initially thought this was due to the transition from country to city but we were sadly wrong. We sought out supposed "experts" on dogs with fears and phobias, researched every article we could, tried the "Thundershirt", tried the "Dog appeasing pheromone" collar, took the dog to obedience classes thinking it would give him structure (this failed miserably as to get to the class was a stress filled nightmare of a walk). We were advised to "put him down", "give him drugs", give him up. None of these were viable options for us. We heard of Boysie via a neighbour who had recently adopted a rescue dog with severe aggression and who had some amazing results with his training. Pablo spend almost 4 weeks in Boysie's home, we figured even if he came home 1% improved it would be better than what we had lived with over the past 2 years. The transformation in Pablo has been unbelievably outstanding - we can walk him on traffic filled streets, past groups of people and kids, regardless of garbage cans or trucks. We can cross busy streets without being in fear of our lives. We have also been able to travel (We just returned from a car trip to Florida staying in several hotels, with over 24 hours of driving - something we never thought possible) As Boysie explained, "I cant make him like those things he is afraid of, but I can give you the leadership skills to help him get through it and adapt". It doesnt stop there either, Boysie's phone calls to get updates and reiterate the training plan, as well as to talk you through any roadblocks you are facing are ongoing. He wants to know every detail and offers support and guidance, which, believe me, you really need with a dog like Pablo. Boysie taught us that Pablo needed a leader to help guide him through all his fears without babying him or giving in to his fear. We had to become that leader as Pablo clearly has terrible leadership skills !! Boysie told us that deep down Pablo had dominance issues therefore we did not have proper control over him to allow him to feel at ease when faced with a scary object or situation. So now we are able to go for daily walks, usually 1 hour or more, (several times a day) always incorporating a busy (previously scary) area of the city, we cross roads with ease, garbage day we pass garbage bins and maybe slam a few lids just to enforce they are nothing to be afraid of. We can go for car trips without a problem. Pablo is calm, relaxed and content at home no longer pacing. What Boysie and his family (in particular Daniel) have done is nothing short of a miracle. I know its early days and we will have challenges along the way - I finally feel we have the dog we always wanted. I dont even know where to start to thank them but I will recommended them at any opportunity I can and would be happy to talk to anyone considering using mellow vibes because they really are Irie !!!! read more

My 10-month-old Samoyed Layla was extremely sweet, friendly, loving...and spoiled. As a first time dog owner, I did myself, and Layla, a disservice to coddling and spoiling her to the point where she could not be alone without having severe separation anxiety. This resulted in dog daycare costs of over $600 a month, noise complaints from neighbours if she was left alone, and a condo that was pillow-free due to her destroying anything she could when left alone. After her three-week stay with Boysie and his family, Layla became a new dog. She kept her sweet disposition but her behaviour and anxiety has significantly improved. Layla had the following issues: - Separation anxiety. When left alone or in her crate, she would bark for hours, defecate, and destroy anything she could. o Layla now stays in her crate for hours without having an accident and minimal barking. - Alpha dog . Layla knew she was the boss and was constantly jumping up, licking and getting in my space and strangers space. o Layla now waits to be invited to be petted and does not jump on me, visitors to our house or strangers on the street. Layla never tries to eat people food even when it is dropped in front of her nose. - Poor Walking. Layla used to walk in front of me dragging me where she wanted to go. She would need to stop and say hi to every dog or person passing her. o Layla now walks right beside me. When I stop, she sits immediately and waits patiently for me to resume the walk. She looks straight ahead and no longer pulls towards other dogs or people. - Poor Listening. Layla did what she wanted and did not listen to any of my commands. o Layla can now follow the basic commands of sit, stay, down....get out of the way. I can't thank Boysie enough and highly recommend him to anyone. He was lovely and supportive and followed up many times after her initial 3 week training. He had me back two additional times to ensure I was maintaining her training and worked with my family (who care for her sometimes) so that they could interact with her in way that facilitated good behaviour. Boysie truly has a way with dogs and genuinely cares about helping dogs and their owners. At first, you might think he is being too tough on your dog but he is simply teaching them how to be happy, healthy, disciplined dogs. It is clear that dogs LOVE him and respect him. "My first mistake was taking my over-exuberant, high energy, very excitable, nipping, barking boxer Fozzy to Bark Busters. They told me that all I needed to fix my dogs behavior was to sit there and bark back at him. They gave a small metal pouch and expected my dog to be afraid of it. I mean, who were they kidding?. I spent hundreds of dollars at Bark Busters and they assured me that I would be a member for life. If there were ANY problems with my dog years down the line they would come cost free and work with him and I. My dog basically laughed in face after that trainer left, he continuously nipped and barked and when I called her to let her know that her methods were not working with Fozzy, she yelled at me and told me it was my fault. Needless to say I have NEVER heard from them ever again. I was at my wits end, desperately looking for someone to help train myself and Fozzy. I mean my boxer is not aggressive, just has too much energy. He was walked for two hours during the day and still could not contain his excitement. I was scared his dominant excitement would turn into aggression, I needed help fast. There I was feverishly researching dog trainers in Toronto, pages and pages of companies looking to train your dog! Only one really stood out in my mind, Mellow Vibes Irie Dog Training??..Boysie??. We are first time dog owners and were overwhelmed when we brought our puppy home, but everyone told us that we were lucky we chose a calm puppy. This was the case for the first few days, no accidents, our new puppy wasn't hyper and was even good around small children. Then the accidents started happening, she wouldn't walk on a leash or listen to anything we said. The worst part was that when we put our sweet Penny in her kennel she would cry uncontrollably and shake even when we took her out. It's safe to say we didn't know what to do anymore. UPDATE!!!!! After 18+months we took our golden doodle back to Boysie and Daniel for boarding and a refresher course. Our dog is a service animal for my wife. As she (my wife) has been housebound for a while we let some of Rosey's behaviors slide. She came back as attentive and content as before we slacked off. We love these guys and as people have had dogs for 40 years, we have never come across training that has been as successful and caring, We would not consider getting another dog without sending her to MELLOW VIBES for training. read more

I want to start off by saying great job. Our groomer recommended these guys to my family. We brought them an almost 2 yr old labradooodle male with hyperactive tendencies, obsessive behavior, loud barking, jumping, and restlessness. What we got back was a calm submissive and even happier dog when we picked him up. Our boy was a good dog before with some occasional problems, but afterwards he was great. Worth every penny spent. LIFE SAVER....I Have a year old Shiba Inu "Bear" and he was an absolute terror. He had serious dog aggression, would run away sometimes for hours before i found him again. when a door bell would ring he would slam into it and jump all over the visitor we would have. It was almost to much to deal with and sad because we knew he meant well. Thank God for Mellow Vibes Dog Training who were able to transform Bear to a model citizen, also recorded every step of their progress. I was stunned to see how well Bear was listening he was going for walks without lunging and barking at every dog he encountered. I had dogs all my life, sometimes three at a time.....but my one year old, 6 1/2 pound Morkie..."Princess Abigail", proved to be a humbling experience in terms of my being able to handle her. I would have never believed that I would ever agree to send any dog of mine off to a "live in" training facility....but I did....with absolutely no regrets. I admit it was difficult to have zero contact with Abigail for the three and a half weeks she was with Boysie & his family. All of Abigail's behavioural issues were addressed in her half hour progress video that I received when I picked her up...and before any payment was made by me. In other words, Boysie wanted to make sure that I was totally satisfied with the the results before he would accept payment. After my three hours of training from Boysie on the new & improved methods of dealing with my pup, I felt like I was taking a new born home for the first time....I was really nervous! But at the same time, I was so inspired to be consistent in my approach with her. From time to time, I needed some telephone coaching that Boysie was so generous with. He seemed to understand that the training methods he had imparted to both Abigail & myself, would take a bit of time to become the new way of being. Its a couple of months since the Abigail completed her "formal" training and there is absolutely no doubt that her good behaviour.. or not...mirrors my approach with her. Having Castle as our very first dog proved to be a challenge that became harder and harder to cope with. From when he was a puppy, he was babied and pampered, and as he became older and grew larger, it was evident that he was becoming out of control. At a year old he didn't respond to his name, he jumped on all people in excitement, he didn't react well to other dogs and barked constantly. Now walking him was the biggest hassle of all. He would pull on the leash so hard I would be walking almost horizontally trying to hold him back. Neither a nose piece nor a chain collar helped 100% because his size overpowered both. And lastly, his aggression over his own possessions was the worst of all. As soon as Castle had something in his mouth, getting it back, no matter what it was, was almost impossible unless there was some sort of bribe with treats involved. During just the consultation, after about 15 minutes, Boysie had already figured out what the problem was with Castle, just by watching how Castle acted with us. We were amazed at how accurately he recounted what we had been doing wrong all along. Having seen another dog that Boysie trained and being desperate to calm Castle down, we signed him up! The day that we went to pick Castle up wasn't just a normal quick pick up deal. Boysie and his son spent the required time to show us, in detail, how to further continue the proper techniques in keeping Castle trained. Castle was like a new dog! Today, he responds to his own name, he comes when he's called, the aggression is gone, walking him is a delight with just a simple leash, and for the first time since we brought him home, he is obedient. All in all Boysie's son, Daniel, did a wonderful job with Castle. Even after bringing Castle home, Daniel advised us to call with as many questions or concerns we had, in order to make sure we felt confident with Castle's behaviour. Our lovable (to us) dog Oscar (mastiff-boxer mutt mix) started exhibiting aggressive tendencies due to a leg injury - at first it was just towards a couple of neighbourhood dogs, but it expanded and then he even reacted to a couple of people in a disturbing way. Living in Toronto, this behaviour was a huge problem, so we decided to spend the money on Mellow Vibes (we called it juvie) because the other option was awful - finding him another home. He is a stubborn, excitable dog who is hard to train, but Paul stuck with him and turned him into a more relaxed, less anxious dog. It took 8 weeks and we missed him desperately, but it was worth the wait. The support when he was finally returned was unbelievable - daily texts, great advice, thoughtful strategies to try. Paul worked with our two kids to help them feel in control and ensure that Oscar respects them. 2 months later, Paul is still available if we need him and has assured us that he will support us with Oscar indefinitely - even with issues he doesn't have presently. That is a relief. Oscar's not perfect, but he pretty much is with Paul so we will continue to persevere and BE the alpha dog that Oscar needs us to be. The aggression had disappeared with Paul and only occasionally rears its ugly head (literally!) with us, but we can control him and it continues to get better. My experience with Boysie's training was nothing shy of a miracle in my life. I had been to numerous trainers over the years with very little results. When I rescued my dog Wilson twelve years ago I quickly learned that he was very anxious and he went crazy when he would see anything with a motor and other dogs, especially other alpha dogs. He's big and strong and I was in constant fear of him hurting another dog... walks were very stressful. Boysie was my last hope. We reached out to Boysie at Mellow Vibes as a last ditch effort to keep our year-old Vizsla. We were experienced Vizsla owners and had dealt with Kaya's separation anxiety at 4 months-old successfully. We'd had some success at dealing with basic behaviours and walking on leash through local training classes. He had no shortage of training or exercise. At 6 months he walked peacefully, like a perfect puppy, through a dog infested Barkfest in the Beach. We thought we were doing everything right and we thought we were on our way to an awesome life with our new family member. Things changed when he hit 8 - 9 months old. Over the months that followed he started exhibiting troubling behaviours that eventually led to scary aggressive behaviour around other dogs, bikes, passing pedestrians etc. Outside the house, everything stimulated him in the worst way. Returning to regular group training was not an option as he simply could not be in close proximity to other dogs while on a leash without devolving into a wild beast. Doggy daycare was no longer an option either given the confined space. Loads of exercise didn't seem to to ease his behavioural issues either. We were more stressed out than either of us realized at the time and we dreaded every moment we spent with him outside of our home. We thought it was the end of the line and he would be better off back with the breeder, running in a pack of dogs and away from all the stimulation of Downtown Toronto. It was a very sad time and neither of us was enjoying pet ownership. We felt defeated. Looking back, Kaya was totally stressed out too. We had heard about Mellow Vibes and we read all the reviews, watched all the videos and thought it was too good to be true. I simply could not imagine my dog walking down a crowded downtown street, past other dogs, squirrels, bikes, birds and pedestrians and just being totally chilled out. There was no way we were going to get there, but I figured maybe Boysie could at least help get him to a point where I could take Kaya on a leash to go pee without jumping and growling at passing pedestrians. That alone would have improved our existence and as a last ditch effort we decided to give Boysie a chance, all the while feeling like our Kaya would be the completely untrainable exception. It makes me laugh that I ever thought this. But we were in our darkest hour with this dog and couldn't see the light at the end of the tunnel. Kaya tried to attack Boysie in his own house the first time we met him. Boysie wasn't put off, but he quickly identified the fact that none of us were chilled out - including the dog. He doesn't beat you over the head with everything you haven't done right, but he doesn't let you off the hook either. However, it's not just one big "your fault" fest, he gave us something we hadn't had for a while - hope - hope that we really could have a well behaved dog. Within a couple of hours of meeting Boysie we already saw that he could change Kaya's behaviour. We returned three weeks later and met a very different dog. He was still a cute, adorable Vizsla with a spark in his eyes and was happy to see us, but he was acting much more chilled out and submissive. He was no longer making decisions about how to act. Instead, he was taking direction from Boysie, and then us and remaining calm. Not 15 seconds after we left did we pass another dog on leash on the same side of the street - nothing happened, Kaya stayed cool and continued walking. I couldn't believe it. Boysie had made the impossible happen. Boysie had done the hard part of showing him that someone else was the boss and his job was to chill and he did the hardest part - being so consistent with Kaya that he came to accept that he was no longer going to be making decisions about how he acted. He was going to take his cues from his humans. He tried to test us and that's where the hard work came in on our part. But we were totally prepared by Boysie to deal with this and show him we were the boss and his job was to chill. It wasn't easy but we knew the alternative was giving up Kaya, so we stuck at it, remained very consistent and just three months later, that dog that caused us so much stress is nothing but a distant memory. Initally he almost seemed to reluctantly go along with what we told him to do - now, he's chilled out and seems cool with taking his cues from us. Honestly, he's a pleasure to walk and hang out with now. When we catch him trying to push things a bit we just revert back to all the tools Boysie gave us and that sorts it out. Miracle worker. Our dog was considered and clinically diagnosed as a "fear aggressive "dog. We spent thousands of dollars on clinical behavioral and other trainers to no avail. We were one step away from euthaniizing ou "aggressive" dog. A friend referred us to Mellow vibes. Boyse and his family took him in and immediately had a very different approach to the dog. They didn't rely on labels and his history. They took a very holistic view of the dog and through their training my dog came back a VERY different pet. We were speechless in looking at their video of our dog at their home. He was obedient, rule following , happy and calm. Our golden retriever rescue was a complete mess before staying with Boysie. He was given up by another family at a year old because they felt he was untrainable. Our boy Teddy is a super cute mini golden doodle. He's also one of the most stubborn alpha dogs you will ever encounter. By three months of age, he did everything wrong: nipped, chased birds & squirrels, pulled on the leash, listened selectively, jumped on people... name it, he did it. After two weeks with Boysie, we got a different dog back. Same Teddy, but new disposition. He listens, is far more relaxed, can walk through a flock of birds in the park and not flinch let alone chase them, the stubbornness has vanished ... overall, he is exactly the sort of dog we hoped he could be. Of course, once you leave Glendale Ave., it's up to you to reinforce all the behaviours that Boysie has instilled. His "after-sale service" is phenomenal. Any time we have had a question or have forgotten part of OUR training, Boysie is just a phone call away. And when we needed some extra pointers, he spent a couple of hours teaching us. Again. Now, at eight months and 25 lb., Teddy is constantly complimented about how well-behaved and well-trained he is. People are surprise when they learn he is still a pup. This summer, when we were away for a week, Teddy was boarded with Boysie and the reinforcement really helped bring him to the next level. We brought our 4 year old Vizsla, Scarlett, to Boysie and Daniel back in March, 2015 for the initial visit. A longer visit than initially anticipated (over 2 hours), we left realizing two things: 1) we were confident Daniel and Boysie could help us, and our dog and 2) if we were to invest in the training financially, we also had to be both fully committed as dog owners, to ensure we would see the results they were guaranteeing. The training is as much for the dog, as it is for the owners. A bit of background on Scarlett. My husband had spent months researching the Vizsla breed, so we knew before we picked up Scarlett from the breeder in Peterborough, that she was a very energetic dog, needing a lot of exercise. And we were committed to giving her that exercise. Regardless of the exercise though, we were still seeing what we felt was defiant and destructive behaviour - constantly peeing and pooping in her crate. In fact, for several months, we chalked up the peeing and pooping to health issues and visited countless vets to rule out serious conditions. Everything came up negative. We then assumed her chronic diarrhea was giardia, so she was on regular antibiotics to "cure" her from that. But regardess of the drugs, she continued peeing and pooping (even eating her feces). We crate trained her, then I figured the peeing and pooping was because she hated her crate/felt it was too small so we let her roam the house while we weren't home (bad idea), then we left her in a locked room downstairs - nothing changed the problem, she continued peeing and pooping. Other behaviours that we struggled to understand included bad anxiety - to sound (skateboarders, clotheslines, thunderstorms, sirens) and to objects (broom, balloons, strange items on the ground). We researched lots of different methods for all of these behaviours, and hired two trainers (including a dog whisperer). Scarlett also pulled a ton of the leash,lunging for every stick and/or piece of garbage on the sidewalk, and would get very VERY energetic playing with other dogs - never aggressive but overly excited. After moving to the Roncesvalles area and having our daughter last year (she's now 1), we knew we needed to do something for Scarlett. She was constantly on edge, running to the door every time someone came over to visit, and paced in the house. We regularly saw Boysie and Daniel on Roncesvalles training other dogs. They appeared to be confident leaders with their animals - never aggressive, but firm, and the dogs they were walking always seemed to know who was boss. The other thing that really stood out about them was how many people knew them, and would open say hi and stop to chat (if the dog they were training was permitted to stop and chat). Those things really stood out for us. When we dropped Scarlett off at Boysie's house, I knew we'd be leaving her for at least 3 weeks. After the initial assessment, Daniel and Boysie both said they hadn't seen a case of anxiety as bad as Scarlett's in a long time, and said it would be at least 3 weeks. I left her with a heavy heart, as I was unsure if the 3+ weeks would be too much for her. But it was the best thing we could have done for her. Boysie was available for check ins all the time. He was honest and straight forward, Daniel too. When we finally picked Scarlett up, my husband and I were beyond excited, but we knew we had to adhere to the instructions in order to give Scarlett the trust and confidence in us, she so obviously needed. And no, we did not pick up a "robot dog" as many people think their dog will become, after being with Boysie for 3 weeks. Scarlett still has her energetic spirit, but it's contained. And she understands when she can be playful and when she needs to relax. For me, this training was more for me, than for Scarlett, as it gave me the skills and confidence to handle her in all kinds of situations, especially being at home with our infant daughter. Yes, she's had set backs - but we know we're to blame when she starts acting up again (we haven't been consistent with her training, she's getting confused, we've slacked on some of the commands because we're tired, etc.). You will NEVER regret sending your dog to Mellow Vibes Dog Training. I was desperate to change my dogs behaviour and i had tried other trainers and companies but nothing worked...until i met the father/son duo of Boysie and Daniel. Stella was unpredictable at best, terrible on leash and possessive over bones. I dropped my dog off to Boysie and Daniel and when i came back to pick Stella up 2 weeks later, i thought they had replaced my dog....she was SO WELL BEHAVED and every issue she had prior to her training was more than fixed....she was the IDEAL dog. No longer was i stressed when walking past other dogs, or scared to take a bone from her, or frustrated that she was barking out the window every time a person or dog walked past. I cannot say enough about this training. The difference with Mellow Vibes is that they integrate your dog into their household so that your dog experiences REAL situations with adults and kids. They keep your dog during the training (walk them, play with them, and train them all at the same time) ensuring that they see your dogs behaviours as they would be at your home. Other trainers come to your place for a few hours and think they understand your dog and their problems....it does not work. I completely understand and agree with Dawna (who i have never met) that Boysie and his sons are the Dog Whisperers of Toronto. From the first conversation I had with Boysie regarding the plethora of issues I was having with my pup Oscar, I knew I had found the right trainer. He offered me endless support, advice and encouragement throughout what had become a pretty difficult process. I was truly amazed at what a different dog I had brought home after his three weeks away. Boysie and Daniel worked with and prepared me for the transition and upkeep associated with dog training. However, I found myself struggling and ultimately realized that Oscar and I were not suited for each other. This was in no way a reflection of the amazing job that was done, and was in fact a difficult decision made much easier by Boysie's endless support. Amazing! Our dog, Gatsby was an unpredictable one and a half year old Australian Shepherd, Grey Hound, Collie mix who had aggression/anxiety issues. We had consulted with another trainer who took our money, but wouldn't take the dog. We couldn't wipe Gatsby's paws and only a few family members were comfortable putting on his leash! After a serious incident where he bit our teenage daughter, we knew something had to be done or else we would have to surrender him. We heard about Mellow Vibes from another satisfied customer and truly thought they were our last chance. Daniel took on our challenging dog and worked wonders with him. He responded to our inquiries and kept Gatsby until he was confident that he had made a difference. When it was time to pick Gatsby up, Daniel took time with each family member to ensure we understood how to continue the training at home for which he had laid the groundwork. Gatsby is far more submissive and happy now, and our trepidations have been greatly alleviated. We continue to keep in touch with Daniel who welcomes hearing about our successes and advises when there are challenges. Most recently, the dog that didn't even like having his paws touched had a bath at a dog "spa" without any incident! We cannot thank Daniel and his family enough.
