It was embarassing daily when she barked and lunged at people for no apparent reason. I had my first 2 hour lesson with Jason last night, and the difference I can see in my Teeka already has made me enjoy our walk this evening, instead of me feeling uneasy of her reactions towards people we pass on our walks. I would highly recommend Jason as he was able to assess my dog's unwanted bullying behaviour as "guarding me" in my house and in public. He showed me how to take control at home, and and on our walks. I look forward to our next 3 sessions and a calmer and socially graceful pup.

Jason is the puppy whisperer. It's as simple as that. He understands dogs and dogs understand him…read more My puppy is my first dog and I had no idea what I was doing. My fear of doing the wrong thing was affecting my dog and was making me an ineffective dog owner. Jason corrected my behaviour so that we could correct my puppy's behaviour. She's 6 months old right now and is a very relaxed and well adjusted pup. Nobody ever tells you just how much work having a puppy is and Jason put my mind at ease and gave me the confidence to take her out and not over react to situations because now I KNOW that she will come when called. With Jason's help I learned to enjoy my puppy and everything that comes with being a puppy. I realize that her puppyhood is short lived and I am enjoying every minute of it. Within my first meeting with Jason I learned the basics of what to do and what not to do, what dogs need in order to thrive, (and no, it's not just bones and love) and how to properly communicate with my dog to let her know what I want from her. Trust is key in a relationship with your pet and I wouldn't have learned that without Jason's help. No amount of reading puppy books or talking to other dog owners will give you the in depth knowledge and hands on experience that Jason will provide. If you're doing something wrong, Jason will tell you and understand that this is what's best for your pet. Mango and I both love Jason and would highly recommend him to any old or new pet owners. Thanks Jason, see you at the dog park!

Our dog was constantly pulling on the leash while walking, my wife's arm was always sore. We are amazed at the progress, we just completed a novice class. We now have a well behaved dog on walks and have the tools we need to correct any new issues. Thanks for saving our mutt from the pound, Eric !

Hate leaving bad reviews, but... this class isn't worth the money…read more In short: Too much talk much and not enough practice. Very little learned. In details: Eric tells a lot of stories and then runs out of time to let us run thru the exercise to make sure everyone got the concept. He isn't very friendly or approachable. Yells at people when they do it wrong, but doesn't say what they are doing wrong. The training room is large, but there are 10-12 dogs in there, so it feels very crowded. The acoustics in the large space is terrible, hard to understand what he is saying for normal people, never mind older people or those that English isn't their 1st language. Ridiculous late policy, claims you can't be 5 minutes late, yet he talks so much and repeats the same thing so many times, doesn't really matter when you come in. But sure, it's nice when everyone is there on time. Doesn't allow any dog interaction, as such people aren't able to chat either, so you end up standing there for nearly 1 hour listening to him, do a bit of practice and back out the door. For 10 weeks of class, very few commands are learned. Recall class was very weak, not a major emphasis as advertised. This might be a personal preference, but some people might want to know. The training feel fear based, or as he might say respect based, not a positive type of training. Physical corrections are harsh. All in all, too expensive, little practice, too little learned, Eric is too harsh with people and dogs.

This business isn't just about pet training, but I could only select one topic from the drop down…read moremenu. This business - rather this man does obedience training, boarding, and a variety of other training issues, as well as installing underground fencing. If you've heard of stories about underground fencing - most likely it's because the owner was not trained rather then the dog. It takes training for both owner and dog for an underground fence to really work well and Tom Beitz knows how to make it happen. His logo statement is creative as well, Where Sit Happens". Verbal and visual commands both work on our dog! Tom Beitz, even the name is fitting, is a professional dog trainer that we've used to train two GSD's with much success and both remain in our yard with an invisible fence. He also stands behind all the products and gives you the individual attention that dog owners need. With both individual training and group training - you and your dog deserve the best and I highly recommend giving Tom a call if you have any dog training needs. We've been dealing with Tom for over 5 years now and recently had to have him stop over to look at a broken collar. While he was there - he gave us some additional instructions for both dogs, replaced the collar and off he went. It doesn't get better then this!

Flipping through the book I found his web site cited for obedience and off leash training. When I looked up the site and found he was from Hamburg, NY I couldn't believe it! He came to our home once a week for basic obedience training for our puppy at about 3 months old. His techniques are amazing! Our dog took to them quickly. He helped us with pulling, jumping issues and helped us to sit stay, leash walk and place. He is experienced and truly cared about our dog. We are calling him again when she is 9 months old to start more advanced obedience and off leash work. I recommend Smart Dog Solutions for anyone who wants a "good dog." Truly we learned that there are no bad dogs, just untrained ones. Phoebe is well on her way to becoming a certified therapy dog!

I made arrangements for classes, before Abby had been with us for a full day. Unfortunately due to some unforeseen circumstances, we couldn't attend the classes as we had originally planned. Instead I talked with Karen and we were able to have her come to our house once a week to help us with training. We are on week 3 now and I have to say I notice a huge difference in Abby's behavior. Karen has taken the time to learn what we want out of our class and to educate us on what she expects from us. Her approach has made me more confident in how I deal with our puppy and also how confident Abby is with me. In 3 weeks(1 purely informational/introduction) we have learned the right way to get Abby's attention(look), sit, lay down and proper greeting of guests. She also answered what seems like a million questions I had about everything from walking on a leash, to house breaking and choosing the right type of food. In addition to classes, Karen also runs puppy playdates, barn hunts and other dog friendly events. I look forward to our remaining 4 weeks with Karen and will probably take more of her advanced classes as our schedule allows and Abby is able. I would recommend Karen to anyone who asks.

See my husband Tim C's review if you'd like our puppy story, I will jump right in to the fun!…read moreTraining with Karen began shortly after bringing Abby to her forever home. Karen, in lack of a formal group for "class" visited our home for weekly training sessions. Abby has been very bright and responsive to her positive reinforcement training with Karen! In addition to our solo time with Karen, we have spent time adventuring to the formal training center for a barn hunt, joined a few friends for a puppy social and are looking forward to the possibility of beginning agility training soon! I must note in addition to her fabulous knowledge and skill set with all of the dogs she has interacted with, Karen did not hesitate to also help us through our first scary moment when the adults were away and the puppy broke in to her latched puppy tub, eating a great deal of food and becoming ill. Karen contacted a vet friend, worked with us and the vet through the process of elimination to determine the best next steps and offered to remain available by phone if Abby's health became even further concerning. Karen has an abundance of knowledge and understands owners and their furry friends will find their niche together, she just wants to provide tools to help make things more comfortable for everyone in the house. I look forward to continuing to work and play with Karen (sounds terrible but I'm going with it!), and will definitely always recommend her to friends, family and Yelpers!
