The restaurant was only taking reservations on vday for brunch, but when we got there to ask if they could squeeze in two, they said no, even though lots of tables were open. The upside is that we were able to eat at the bar and still enjoy Cora's menu. The bartender/server (Frank) was awesome, and he alone is a reason to return. The food was good, but I'd probably order something else next time just to see what the other stuff is like. The steak in the steak and eggs was too thin, but juicy and well seasoned. Brunch was outstanding. Went back for lunch today, and it was horrible. Bacon was burnt. Chicken on the chicken sandwich was tiny and dry. Bun was stale. Only 2 of the three entrees were brought to the table. The 3rd person's meal was delivered halfway through eating. It also took them 50 minutes to bring us our meals. The restaurant is closed between 2:30 and 5pm, but the bar offers small bites. So this review is for the bar selections. There are about 10 appetizer style selections. We had the popcorn shrimp which were delicious and came with a remoulade style sauce. We had the calamari which was also good. The fried dills were out of this world. Usually restaurants served fried pickles sliced but they fried the whole dill and it wasn't that greasy. Lastly we had the loaded steak fries which were generously topped with meat and gravy. Maybe a refuge from commercialism so customary down here, Cora's has charm and nice service away from the hustle of this area. Our meal was good but nothing was great. Ribeye steak was ok and duck was a bit fatty. Cocktails were generous with impressive choices of single malt scotch and boutique gins. Really nice people and warm hospitality. read more

I am speaking about the bar here only. I have not had the food. Classy place, but you can tell the people here are a bit stuck up. The bartenders were slow. I had to ask them for my drink a couple of times. The outside is beautiful and very old south, but they remodeled it to look modern which is odd to me. It has a nice upper deck to hang out on but there was rarely anyone up there. It has some TVs so we watched the Olympics. The drink was just okay. I think this is a fine meet-up place to determine what else to do that night. It may also be a fine place to grab a drink after dinner, but it's not some place where I would make it my destination for the evening. read more

This restaurant has a B rating by the health department, I would give them an F rating in management! My family made reservations to stay at the hotel I came to the restaurant at 8:15 to place an order so they would have food to eat when they arrived I even called before I came to the restaurant place the order. They changed their menu but did not update their website and when I came to place the order the manager refused to take their order because it was considered a takeout. My group of friends and I came in for brunch and overall the experience was wonderful. We were seated in a nook with 2 large tables and once we had all taken our seats and ordered our waitress had closed the curtains around us to give us privacy which I thought was really kind and actually kind of cool. I ordered an omelet that had pepper jack, mushrooms, & bacon. I was surprised at how good it tasted with only a few ingredients! But I will have to admit the best tasting thing (for me) was the coffee, it was so smooth and our waitress was a champ at making sure our cups were always full. I was very disappointed with the food. My halibut was very salty, the potatoes my partner had with his lamb were hard and partially cooked, the asparagus was cold..... I must say the drinks were very good and I really appreciated them taking half off of the halibut bill. I had been to the restaurant pre COVID a while ago and loved it. We were visiting friends and decided to try a Sunday brunch. The hotel was beautiful and restaurant was small but nicely done. There were 4 of us. 2 ordered eggs Benedict, one of my favorites. The ham was dry and the meal was just warm. There was almost no hollandaise on it. We asked for more and the server brought it, however it was ice cold. Our friends ordered the Cora breakfast with biscuits and gravy. It was brought with dry toast. The server then brought cold biscuits and no gravy. I've been to Cora's several times in large groups, by myself, and to pick up a take out order. Though a little on the pricy side, I've always experienced pleasant service with good food. The interior of the restaurant is fairly elegant, with cozy booths for groups that give a touch of privacy. I come here primarily for brunch, and the coffee is usually excellent. There was only one time where it was lukewarm instead of piping hot, but all the other times it far exceeded my standards for restaurant brewed coffee. Out of all the things I've tried, the breakfast wrap with potatoes is my favorite. It is tasty and just filling enough without being overwhelming. On the contrary, the gulf coast omelet was huge, and I could barely finish half of it. Unfortunately, they don't offer salsa with the wrap, just ketchup. One time my group requested pico de gallo after our waitress mentioned it, and she brought some fresh from the kitchen, which was awesome. However, we had to split it between 8 of us, so we only got a small portion. I've asked about it on return trips but mostly got an apologetic look... perhaps it depends on how busy the kitchen is. Cora's has a great location across the beach, near the freeway, and not to far from the strip of casinos and other restaurants. A nice place to stop by for brunch with family or friends! read more

Cora's was recommended to me for our anniversary dinner. Reservations were easily made by phone. When we entered we were greeted by smiling faces and ushered to our private booth. Very cool decor! We ordered cocktails and fried shrimp appetizer. Both fantastic! Entrees we ordered were the Steak Cora snd the PorkChop seasoned with a sweet tea Brine. Heather took great care of us on a Saturday night and finished our meal with a complimentary dessert for our anniversary. We had a good visit with the chef also. The atmosphere and service were both great, but the food was only so-so. Went for brunch and ordered the Gouda bisque as a starter which tasted like corn starch mixed with water. The omelette was massive and tasted okay, but I would've preferred a smaller portion with more concentrated flavors. This is my first and only restaurant review. First of all...WOW. Just had Mother's Day Brunch BUFFET and it was the worst restaurant experience I've ever had....and...for three people at $169.00. Brunch food is okay. Typical holiday inn express type spread 8-10 items, bagels w no jelly or cream cheese only small butter balls...and the grand finale at the end of the buffet...a prime rib and pork tenderloin carving station. Salmon w capers...however salmon is not sliced at all and there are no knives for you to use...so good luck there. Anyways...so we are at a BUFFET right? The only thing the waitress has to do is GET DRINKS. Waited for 15 minutes and asked a waitress to kindly bring us some water...but I had to say loudly "hey miss"...which I hate doing...to get any service at all. 25 minutes in...she brought us 2 waters. However, my mother ordered an ice tea and she didn't get that or a water. Went up to the drink station and asked another server for a Ice Tea...was rudely told to sit down and wait. Okay...guess we don't need drinks...for $169.00....when your one job is to bring drinks to three tables...and you can not you should be EMBARRASSED AF. Manager came over and waitress stated the drink ticket didn't print out as her excuse. Which is a viable excuse for the two bloody Mary's we ordered but not for the ICE TEA WE NEVER GOT...my mothers only drink. The manager stared at us blankly, land said "Well..."...and walked off. WELL...if you're dumb enough to pay $169 for scrambled eggs...go ahead make a reservation and check it out. But if that sounds like a bad idea to you...NEVER EVER EAT HERE!!! NEVER EVER!!! This place is a scam. I'd rather fill out a publishers clearing house form than ever eat here again. It's not worth your time or your money. Cora's was a great place for a family breakfast before my grandma and aunt flew back to Minnesota. My aunt, dad and grandma got Cora's breakfast plate with eggs, bacon and pancakes. My mom and I both got the breakfast wrap. All of this was way too much food for us, so I had tons of leftovers to take home. Standouts of the meal were the country potatoes and the breakfast wrap. Both tasted great fresh as well as when reheated. The pancakes were very fluffy and the bacon was fried according to our specifications. I had grits as my side and they were very buttery, but more clumpy than creamy. Our waiter was young and very sweet, but his inexperience showed. When he would finally appear we'd make many requests (hot sauce, jam, water, to go boxes), and he'd disappear again for a while. The layout of the restaurant/hotel may contribute to that, though. I couldn't see or hear the kitchen, and there were no visible service stations, so I got the impression he might have quite a walk to fulfill requests. That said, the interior of both the White House Hotel lobby and Cora's is absolutely gorgeous: tables are divided by luxurious curtains and overall the feel is upscale, unique and modern. This is less "Scarlett O'Hara home" and more "President Snow's Capitol home" type place. read more

What was NOT good was receiving an e-mail from OpenDoor the next day stating that we did not keep our reservation and that there were cancellation policies that we needed to follow. Beautiful venue. The food at Coras was awesome. Very fresh blacken grouper. Effect seasoning without any fishy smell. Cocktails were a perfect mix. Those around me chose the $5.00 burger deal and it looked amazing. Large enough to split with homemade fries. Nancy is an awesome server, pays attention to detail and has a wealth of knowledge about the history of the hotel. Beautiful view from the bar on the third floor. But it needs a little "TLC" with the decorating. The plastic flowers need to go. Also, the brown and black art on the walls in Coras is very depressing. White House has been beautifully remodeled on the outside in a southern charm way so I was quite disappointed when I walked in and felt like I was in a modern hotel...like Vegas. Cora's restaurant was smaller than I expected but the decor was put together horribly. Too many textures and designs (creepy pictures, trees, & various curtains). The food was good though...the only complaint is the container that holds the creamer for the coffee isn't practical. I don't think I'll return unless someone else pays. read more

Most expensive, absolute crapfest of a dining experience I have EVER had. We were a table of 3 couples out for what we thought was going to be a nice Valentine's Day fine dining experience. Our reservation was for 645. We were promptly seated and got our orders in at 655. Our salad course arrived 45 minutes later......our appetizers arrived an hour and 45 minutes later. My wife had ordered the halibut.....2 hours into this clownshow, the manager came by to tell us that they were out of the halibut. My wife then chose the scallops and pasta. Our entrees were served at 910. My Filet was perfect...the sides were undercooked and cold. My wife's pasta was a congealed morass of cold soggy sadness. But they DID take it back and microwave it! All dishes at the table were jacked up in some form or fashion. Peeking into the kitchen while waiting for the restrooms...there seemed to be zero sense of urgency in there. The entire 3 hours we were sitting there, waitstaff were bringing food back to the kitchen. We had to ask our waitress for EVERYTHING at least twice. OK fine, we out. So we'll take the desserts to go, thanks. Then comes the bill. The manager (David) came over and apologized, and he took 50% off the bill. OK fine, but then had the audacity to add a 18% tip, which was over 100$. So, in closing: If you want to drop some cash on a fine dining experience, Go to ThirtyTwo, Morton's or Ruth's Chris. We came here for dessert and had the bananas foster beignets. They were the best dessert we've ever had! My only issue was that our waitress kept coming to our table to ask us how we were doing and refilling water that we'd barely touched. She was nice and did her job well, but our personal preference is to be left alone to eat for a longer amount of time. The building is nice, the decor is even better with the nice couches and chairs in the entrance. But the food was over priced in my honest opinion. There was 15 of us in my party therefore we expected somewhat of a wait. But on this rainy Wednesday night we were the only people eating here. It took 50 minutes to get our food. The staff apologized and we weren't upset. The waitresses even admitted that there was a breakdown in the kitchen. My Delmonico Ribeye was medium as I ordered but it wasn't warm at all and the asparagus were soggy. I commend the manager on his apologies but hopefully it will be better if I visit again. read more
