First experience with sushi in Portugal.
Went here because my mom is not a fan of all sushi dinner and other area places serve sushi only. This place had full Japanese menu of hot cooked noodles and meat and seafood entrees.
Lovely seaview interrupted by busy mini highway on balcony . In Hotel Miragem.Standard modern decor. Very inattentive service. Nice enough just not present even though when we initially sat down restaurant only had 2 other tables seated. Room temp not very fresh sushi especially for price point . Large servings though. Limited wine menu with crazy random pricing with overall one of most expensive I have seen so far in Portugal( most 40 euro plus). They do have a few reasonable bottles. Got a nice Alentejo white for 14 euros Carlos Reynolds very aromatic white.
Started with Tuna tartare with avocado and tempura of shrimps and veggies(13 euro). Tuna for tartar low quality and look partially cooked. Although served over ice was room temp.Seasoning fine just mediocre tuna. Left good amount because of questionable freshness.Tempura tasty not greasy light batter. Only 3 shrimps though.
Mains shared beef tatami and bento box of sushi and sashimi Beef Tatami room temp well seasoned super dry. Stir fried veggies served with tasty. Sushi room temp . Unimpressive freshness. Very thick cuts and uneven. Rice hard. Overall tasted like 2 day old sushi they pulled out of fridge. Now when you come in I saw sushi chefs preparing so not sure how such low quality.
Overall 94 euros which for sushi I don't think is crazy expensive. But of course when your stomach hurts because of poor freshness never a good thing.
Unfortunate as given quantity and setting could be a great dining experience. Just need new servers and new chef.
So overall avoid. Check out other area sushi places. read more
