This is an upscale sushi restaurant with food that is guaranteed to impress. The food is mostly Japanese fusion in the sense that traditional sushi and sashimi have been swapped with mini gastric delicacies. Inside the restaurant is modern and chic, it is also quite busy. The service was fantastic and they are more than willing to give you recommendations and in fact they could create a custom dining experience for you. That is what we did and we were happy for it. We had about 8 courses before it was time to call it quits (see pictures, I don't remember the names because the waiter picked it for us). I would say the prices are on the higher end but really, you are definitely getting what you pay for. In the sushi world, I prefer to skip value sushi, which here you will find none of that. Overall, a truly wonderful dining experience.

I have eaten sushi for over 30 years and I think I just had the best sushi of my life! Nomada is a great sushi restaurant, go now, you will not be disappointed.

We ordered the: -Octopus Hot Dog (of course!) -Roasted Sardine Niguiri -Pan Sear Prawns and Garlic -Tuna tartare on toasted brioche with white chocolate and lime -Fried Seabass -Lobster Roll -Fried Scallops Overall everything was pretty good, but I wasn't in love with everything. The one stand out dish was definitely the Fried Seabass. It was really good! Sadly the Octopus Hot Dog was a bit underwhelming as I kept getting some hard pieces with every bite. The service was very friendly and quick. So although I most likely won't be coming back, I'm glad I tried Sea Me. Croacker Ceviche

There is one private booth table which we selected. It is a tapas style restaurant, so for two of us we ordered 6 dishes plus a dessert. The staff explains the menu and that a lower section shows larger dishes. We loved everything that we ordered but especially the lobster roll (their take don't expect a Maine style roll), sardine nigiri, garlic shrimp (the sauce was incredible and came with bread) and the dessert. The food came out very quickly but we were having dinner at 7pm. The total for two people was around 80 euro with the discount, but we did not get drinks other than still water.

There were some pretty glowing reviews on TripAdvisor and Google so I figured it must be decent. I've been to a lot of sushi places (high end, low end, authentic, all you can eat, etc) and the value just isn't worth it here. $60 Euro for 1 person and this is billed as authentic sushi (which it is definitely NOT). Service is good and the setting/atmosphere is swanky, but for that much you can feed 4 or 5 people at a variety of authentic Portuguese restaurants around town. In terms of food: Miso soup (1/5) - was WAY too salty and everything in the soup was too hard. Salmon nigiri (3/5) - was good, but nothing to write home about. Toro roll (3/5) - this roll is made with toro on top and real crab in the middle and would have been been good except there was some additional fish in it that was super hard to chew through. As it was supposed to be a toro roll, it's supposed to melt in your mouth. Shrimp tempura (1/5) - the tempura was just plain bad. The batter was not light and flaky and tasted spongy in places. I make better shrimp tempura at home. Bottom line, there are so many other good restaurants in Lisbon, do yourself a favor and skip this place.

Timeout in general though is a must see in general for any Lisbon bucket list, so stop by and decide whether or not you want sushi! It has really good sushi, and there's a lot of variety on the menu. I figured that if you're in Portugal, you need to get seafood in any variety, including sushi. The sushi was very good and very fresh. For the price it was also reasonable because it's cheap cheaper than what you could get in the US. My only complaint is I wish the menu was easier to understand. I am not a sushi expert, so there were different names of rolls that I didn't understand like Fotu Maki. It was fine though, because the waiter explained to me what each term meant and what was on the menu, but it would've been helpful to have that listed. You can sit anywhere inside the timeout market. And there's around 500 where the seating inside the market. If you leave your tray on the table too, it gets taken by a worker.

There was an extensive selection of traditional dishes to choose from and we dug right in. Fried shrimp, shrimp lo mein, skewered fried prawns, baby clams, steamed dumplings, chicken wings, soup (not sure what not won ton more like a mix between egg drop and hot and sour). Some dishes looked better than others but most looked pretty good. My wife opted for several rice dishes, along with a few selections of Sushi as she didn't want all that fried food. As soon as we sat to eat, she pointed out that EVERYTHING was either barely warm, room temperature or slightly cold. I mean EVERYTHING. It was very strange. I went back to the buffet and the trays were steaming but the food was not. I tried different dishes from the first round and those were the same result. What made this really weird to me is the place was quite full and NOBODY seemed to mind or find this strange. The saddest appetizers were the egg rolls. Greasy, over fried and not appealing at all. Tried the spring rolls instead and they were pretty empty and tasteless. The soup had cilantro in it. That was different but it wasn't that bad. My wife hated it, said hers tasted like soap. Typical for some people and cilantro but she never noticed that eating Mexican food with lots of cilantro. The worst was that nothing stood out or tasted fresh at all. Overall the flavors were not bad but mostly everything seemed to have been cooked days ago. When you add lukewarm or cold to that, the meal becomes nearly inedible. Initially, we were a bit worried we would get sick later but the food turned over very quickly. The only thing we could figure was everything was just coming out of the fridge precooked and cold. It is our first time in Portugal and we had a hard enough time trying to get our waitress to understand our drink order on first sitting down so I did not bother to ask or inform them about our confusion over the state of the food. We were so disappointed we didn't even bother with the dessert. Really, who wants to walk away from ice cream? Too sad. It was only about 8pm when we went so perhaps it all warmed up at some point, but we'll never know. Better luck to the next adventurer looking to eat inexpensively in Lisbon with a craving for Chinese food.
