Overall I enjoyed the meal, but my expectations were higher given the many five-star reviews. They offer printed menus, but I recommend using the QR code to view the online menu, which includes photos of every dish. We reserved a terrace table but were seated at the farthest corner instead. With plenty of open tables, the placement felt discriminatory and made us uncomfortable. Moving past that... Drinks: The Mount Fuji cocktail was delicious. Appetizers & entrees: We ordered a large variety for three people as we couldn't decide: Chamuca de Frango, Long Bao Pork, Bao Frango Bang Bang, Shrimp Tempura, Siew Mai Wonton, Salmon Hosomaki, Wonton Soup, Char Siu Pork Bao, Biryani, Peixe do Dia, and Jasmine Rice. Presentation was generally beautiful. On average the food rated 3-4 stars, though a couple of dishes were closer to 2 stars. The salmon hosomaki was flavorless and disappointing; the biryani was dry and lacked enough lamb when mixed; the baos were just okay. The shrimp tempura and the fish of the day were the standouts. Dessert: Baba Riniceronte, mango sticky rice, and Avela biscuit were all enjoyable, though the mango wasn't very sweet (possibly out of season). Service: Table service was ok but a bit inattentive. Staff only returned when bringing food and didn't check in much to see if we were enjoying our meal. Given we spent over 100 EUR pp, I expected more attentive service. This was an acceptable one-time experience, I've been to many mid-to-high-end Asian restaurants and this did not meet my expectations, I would not return. read more

Very unique location, co-located with a furniture store. We came here last minute since we were starving and looking for anything to eat. Without a reservation, they were able to get us a table l and also gave us a tour of their dragon, rhino and each section of the restaurant. The bang bang chicken tasted more along the lines of a peanut sauce (similar to pad thai) and wasn't spicy, but still delicious! I could have easily made a meal solely eating 3-4 of these. The piri piri chicken was cooked perfect! The yogurt sauce, rice and onions all gave it a Mediterranean feel, and the bread/tortillas went great with it. read more

I found this restaurant while strolling down Liberdade and saw the new JNcQUOI House and decided to google search this enterprise. Discovered JNcQUIO Asia - easier to get reservations last minute at Asia instead of Avenida. The room was beautiful - I loved the decor - so imaginative with the dragon skeleton hanging from the ceiling. Ordered the truffle naan, crab on wonton, spring rolls, crispy duck salad and fried rice. The flavors were there, but the duck salad had way too much cilantro so I had to pick it all out. It was my birthday celebration and I received the hazelnut biscuit - delicious! Service was very strange - one waiter took the order and I never saw him again. JNcQUOI... more like JNcWHY. Let me set the scene: you walk into this vibey cathedral of decoration where it screams money and the menu reads like a UN summit of flavors. They serve Portuguese, Indian, Japanese, Chinese, probably Martian if you ask nicely. I'm like this is the spot wow! And then... nothing. Absolutely nothing. You could literally start aging in real time waiting for a glass of water. And oh, the bait-and-switch! They gracefully bring out a little tray of naan and chutney like a gift from the gods. I just thought, fine, bread service. But plot twist: that humble basket of carbs is a 13 euro bread service, sneakily slapped onto the bill like it's a cover charge at a nightclub you didn't want to go to. They call it Couvert. No warning, no heads-up, just vibes and invoices. The service? Imagine if you hired runway models, handed them menus, and told them to act as servers without knowing what a restaurant is. They glide past you like you're part of the décor, avoid eye contact like it's a contact sport, and make taking an order feel like you're interrupting them. I've eaten out twice a day for five years and this might be the worst service I've ever had. If ambiance alone could feed you, this place would be Michelin. But unfortunately, someone has to actually bring you the food for that to happen. By the time my drink showed up, I was spiritually dehydrated. The food, when it finally arrived, was great, but our sushi (2 rolls) took an hour and the servers were unapologetically aloof about it. Obviously a very nice place with over the top service and prices to match. Our server was good. The place had lots of cool drinks to choose from. I hate an anti-Black dress code. I say this with intention because the rules are exclusively enforced for Black people. Security aggressively told me I could not wear a fashionable Alexandre Mattiussi vest that I had purchased earlier at the connected shops. However, when inside I witnessed several non-Black patrons in ath-leisure attire, including tube-tops , with no straps. I'm not sure how the rules are applied but they are not fairly across race, sex and gender. read more

Highly overrated. This is NOT Chinese food. Dim sum was blah. We ordered from the Express Lunch menu. 2 people in our group cannot tolerate spicy food. It was at least a 2 day fast. And the only food we shared was from this restaurant. To the degree we are sick, seems to infer the amount consumed. She consumed less than I, and she is suffering from stomach pain, the feeling of vomiting, and diarrhea. I have a fever, stomach pain, diarrhea, my skin burns, and I have a headache. We both also have the chills. Im not sure how or why it happened. We had no bad or offensive interactions with staff. I thought I tipped well. The lady and staff seemed nice. I hesitate telling people what happened but I am sick on a $1,800 per day trip. Im furious and im not letting this go. When people either innocently or purposefully ruin my vacation, I have to do something about it. The food, wasnt great. The drinks, werent great... and as usual at JNCQ...the bill was around $250. Jncquoi, a fusion of Asian and Portuguese cuisine is the newest addition to the Lisbon culinary cuisine; open less than month as of this writing. Located in the Ave de Libertad in North Lisbon is JncQUOi. There is indoor and outside seating. We were seated outside under a Chinese pagoda. The outside is decorated with neon lights beckoning you to come to Asia. Think Macau kish. We started off with the abacate ship kombu (avocado salad) and white Taylor's port; an excellent pairing that drew out the seafood. The avocado was a little raw, however the charred seaweed took the plate over the top. We then had the nagitoro (tuna tartar). It was spectacular. We moved on to the char siu pork bao (dim sum). It was good--not great--with sufficient portions to share amongst three. Our main entree was the vindaloo curry (Goan pork with basmati rice). It was very spicy, but very good. It was not sufficient for us three so we ordered another dim sum. We topped it off with a fondant chocolate dessert. Service: it is good. Our waiter, Joel, was very knowledgeable about the menu and suggested all of the dishes sans the vindaloo curry; which I had picked since I wanted to taste Goan cuisine in Portugal (Goa was a Portuguese colony in India until the mid 1960s). His suggestions were spot on. The rest of the staff was friendly and seemed eager to please. For example, we wanted a taxi and the doorman actually went down the block to get it for us; impressive. The food was overall memorable and most dishes were tasty. One highlight was the very flavorful mushroom dumplings. Notably, the starters were all fine but the entrees lacked comparatively. The chicken tikka masala felt muted in flavor, like they didn't know how to make a good version of a pretty widespread dish notorious for its strong flavors. Over the course of our meal, we had 7 different waiters and there was some confusion and double ordering because of the staff's discombobulated system. We also had to flag down waiters to order because we were often left waiting... We ate early so the restaurant was not crowded and by the time we finished there were less than 10 tables seated. I can only imagine how annoying this would be for guests when it's crowded. One interaction that was entirely unnecessary and pretentious occurred over dessert. My friend had been before and knew of an off-menu pudding; we thought this might be less stale than the desserts they have sitting out on the cart they wheel around all night. The waiter seemed surprised that we knew about it and leaned into a charade that it was only for "special" guests. We asked if we could try a small spoon to see if we liked it and they made a fuss about how they've never done that in the history of their restaurant, which I imagine is not a particularly long history. They conceded and let us try it; we liked it so we ordered it and ultimately they brought out the pudding in a large mixing bowl, spooned out a couple servings, and slopped it down on a plate. For the price, I was expecting them to plate it in a bowl in the kitchen, garnish it, and at least make an effort on presentation so this underwhelmed. One of the most amazing, energetic, and beautifully decorated restaurants I've ever experienced. Touring Europe on a culinary adventure that included Michelin starred restaurants in Rome and Porto to roadside gelato stands on the Amalfi Coast, JNcQuoi stands out as one of the more memorable purely from an ambiance and potential standpoint. The menu is full of items that looked delicious. The execution was just one miscue short of a total disappointment. Slow and inattentive service and a server who couldn't wait to turn the table over, characterized our JNcQUOI experience. It actually stood out as being the only restaurant in Europe that rushed us out the door of perhaps 40 restaurants we enjoyed in Portugal, Spain, and Italy where un-rushed service is the cultural norm. I won't criticize the prices. They're high--and we knew it going in--so were our expectations. Too bad about their business model. Serve $400 worth of food for two, rush the customer out the door, and welcome the next victim from the ever-present line of hopefuls waiting to get in without a reservation. We were fortunate to have a reservation, but regretted our decision to dine there before our entree arrived. I'd highly recommend a visit to the JNcQUOI bar just soak in the entire scene--walk through the restaurant to get to the bar, order a tap water, look around, hang around until they ask you to leave. JNcQUOI shouldn't be missed, but I'd take a pass on the dining experience next time. read more
