As he had a 70g fresh water & 30g saltwater (5 ) he would spend every penny he had & beg us to take him weekly He recently took his 3yr clown fish in hopes to sell it back - as he has done with a few of his other previously purchased fish from BF. The young person offered him $5 he bought the fish for $8 and it's tripled in size.. hands down bigger than any clown fish in the store (1 ) He told them that was insulting - as would I & asked to speak to the mgr - the kid said, I am & all I'm giving you is $5 (1 ) Needless to say, Nemo was happily donated to our family chiropractor. It isn't about money, it's about principle & doing what's right. Shame on you, kid behind the counter Monday afternoon 3/14/22 at BFA. We'll gladly spend our money elsewhere

But if you like your hobbies to mix elbow grease, biology and a bit of chemistry you might enjoy it. If you do, you'll end up at Salty Critter since they are the best store in town. I went here when I was first starting out. Dan, the owner, took a good amount of time going through everything I would need and what to expect. I even took notes, them compared them to some online research. His suggestions were spot-on...no pushing his own stock for the sake of a sale. Everyone there has been helpful during every return visit (and there have been many). My only complaint is long delayed web presence for the store. Vermilion isn't close and I'd like to know what available. Nothing worse than driving 45 minutes to find out that tomorrow is a big shipment with tons of cool stuff. That quibble aside, if you're just getting into the hobby or experienced but haven't been willing to make the trip out (I'm talking to you, eastsiders) --- take the plunge. It's worth it.

Only issue is-their saltwater tanks are filled with aptasia. I don't get it. This is an issue for every single store but it seems like they don't even try. I was scouting out their store when my tank was cycling so I saw it once when I started and then 6 weeks later it was the same or worse so I did leave time to see if they tried to control it and they did not. So I will personally avoid the store just to avoid introducing aptasia to my tank. Healthy looking livestock otherwise.

Chris was super helpful. He told me what things to get for a new tank. Also, he steered me towards very economical inhabitant choices to start my tank. I started with 5 very small gold fish & 3 glass shrimp. He also let me borrow a bucket from the shop and gave me some water from an established tank in the store. I loved my shopping experience here.
