First let me say I love pet shops, especially small, privately owned specialty shops like this one. I spent my high school years working in a pet shop then went on the work in the wholesale pet industry as a representative and factory rep. I spent 11 years in the pet industry before I moved on the far less entertaining industries. The staff here is super knowledgeable and (I can't say this with enough enthusiasm in a review) amazingly friendly. I had two separate employees approach me and ask what they could help me with with a smile on their face. So refreshing! It's a small place packed with a huge variety of fresh water and marine fish and supplies. All the aquariums are clean and the fish are healthy and well taken care of. They have a great selection as well. The employees love working there. The girl who helped me was 41 and has been working there since high school! Talk about dedication and a wealth of knowledge and experience. Wow. The fact that she's worked retail that long and still has the level of contagious enthusiasm is something you rarely encounter and is a testament to the type of business the owners run. I made my purchases and told her I wouldn't be home for 24 hours and she took great care to pack my fish and plants for the journey back to Northern Michigan the following day. Everything survived and is looking great in my aquarium. The fish are healthy, employees are super friendly and knowledgeable and the prices were great, just like they claimed. I'll be stopping by the Fish Doctors on my visits downstate in the future!

Good luck finding…read moresomeone to replace a young man who not only knew his business, but was a master when it comes to customer service. Jake was the reason we continued to shop at Fish Doctors. I seriously doubt his shoes will be filled any time soon with someone so competent and dedicated. Too bad we didn't get his number to get private maintenance and advice from him.

It's understandable being short staff nowadays but the poor animals don't deserve to be in dirty tanks or crammed spaces. Many meals, accessories and supplies to choose from for your pet. Chris was super helpful. He told me what things to get for a new tank. Also, he steered me towards very economical inhabitant choices to start my tank. I started with 5 very small gold fish & 3 glass shrimp. He also let me borrow a bucket from the shop and gave me some water from an established tank in the store. I loved my shopping experience here. Weeks later, I contacted the company asking when the service would be performed because I had received no completion notice, no door hanger, and saw no evidence that the work had been done. I was then told the service had actually been completed a month earlier and my card was charged. When I raised concerns, the company relied on GPS records showing a truck at my property but could not provide photos from my property, despite telling me that photos are normally taken. What disappointed me most was the way the issue was handled. At no point did anyone offer to come to the property, walk the lawn with me, inspect the results, or independently verify my concerns. Instead, I was left with a charged credit card and no confidence that I received the service I paid for. Most importantly, there was never any visible evidence that the aeration and overseeding had occurred, and there still isn't. More than a month later, the lawn shows no meaningful signs of new grass growth, improvement, or change. Whether the work was not performed or was performed so poorly that it produced no observable result, the outcome was the same from my perspective: I paid for a service and saw no evidence that it benefited my lawn. The office staff was polite throughout the process, but based on my experience, I would not use this company again.
