Update: we've come back a couple more times. We have had good experiences every time we have come here. The kids find the slide boring after a couple rides. We arrived late and asked for bottled water, and were told to just drink the sink water... in Mexico. That alone set the tone. I also repeatedly emailed our concierge for assistance and received no response whatsoever. Our room smelled like mold, and the sheets were damp. Housekeeping replaced them, but the odor and overall condition never improved. Not what you expect at this level. Then it got worse. We had two rooms, one at this hotel and one at a neighboring hotel where a large group of our family was staying. That other hotel requires wristbands, which we had, so security here assumed we didn't belong, even though we had rooms at this property. At the pool, they approached us publicly and repeatedly questioned us, over and over, in front of everyone. No attempt to verify privately, no discretion, just standing over us and making a scene. It was humiliating. Then it happened again. While checking out, we crossed back onto this property to retrieve our luggage that they were holding. Security stopped us again and treated us like we were doing something wrong, only to confirm, once again, that we were legitimate guests. Two separate incidents. Same behavior. The level of aggression and lack of professionalism from security is completely out of control. This is not how paying guests should ever be treated. This wasn't just a misunderstanding, it was a failure in how guests are handled, and it happened more than once. We will never stay here again.

A whole lot of AWESOME packed into a small footprint!…read more All in all a great experience. The desk crew was friendly and efficient. We had a corner suite in the altitude tower and it was wonderful with a large balcony and wrap around windows. The room was very nice, spacious and clean. Bed and chairs were very comfortable, shower had great pressure. The resort had a huge beach next to the breakwater, so the ocean is a bit calmer in that corner. Plenty of space to lounge around all day, do it, really! The resort has several pools, my favorite was the infinity pool over the beach, very relaxing. All the pools and beach had guys taking drink orders, loved it. As for food several great options. The breakfast buffet at the O restaurant had a huge spread, no matter what you were in the mood for you were covered. For lunch the grill place over the main pool is the place to be, Everything we had there was delicious. Try the passion fruit cevicha, heaven on a plate. For dinner the Asian fusion restaurant has a great hibachi, the chef was possibly the best I have seen yet, very skilled and entertaining. The food was well seasoned if not a bit salty, but very good. The resort packed a lot into a relatively small footprint, well maintained and taken care of. I highly recommend it.

After mid weekend it took an average 15 minutes to get to the lobby! I'm not a big lover of buffets so I wasn't thrilled that the main restaurant always had 1. Others you would have to make a reservation. We made a reservation at Ayambi (spell check) restaurant for habachi. Why'd we get seated at a regular table? Not where they actually grill the food. They don't use straws at all. I know..let's save the turtles but what about cardboard straws? I watch how they washed cups at the bar.. Literally in soap water & back on the shelf..no heat..no sterilization..I bought my own cup to use. There really isn't entertainment. I was there a total 4 days& there was a live music band 1 night & not too flattering. My girls & I brought our own speaker for music when lounging at the pool, cabana, etc.. Positives I loved the set up & the fact that's it's on the beach. The best part is location. It was literally a 5-7 minute walk to the strip where the clubs, shopping, and action is. The spa is pricey but the sauna was awesome! I had room credit but in town are cheaper massages. Once I finally realized all the restaurant choices, i was a happy fat gal. There's food& drinks provided to you on the beach, by the poolside .. Really anywhere. There's soda & water in your room refrigerator & room service for late night hunger. The Cabanas on the beach made me feel like it was VIP service. Make sure you go to Chedraui supermarket. The liquor is mad cheap!

The staff was wonderful, especially the bar team (the espresso martinis were amazing!). The activities staff, Stefani and Rodrigo, were hilarious and made the experience even more fun. The food overall was very good for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The dinner buffet wasn't our favorite and the desserts could be improved, but the restaurants were excellent. We wish we had time to try the taco spot! They also made our anniversary feel really special. Overall, it was a great stay for the price and we would definitely return.

I want to thank my Mr for picking this place out because I absolutely love it. The minute we set foot on the property, we've had nothing but great things to say about this place. Many resorts will cut corners for food and alcohol, but not this place. Very generous and the staff is super friendly. There's only three restaurants but high quality in food! Our room was not ready yet but the front desk already gave us our wrist bands and told us to hang out at the Deck which is an outdoor beach restaurant (bar and grill). So good! We dined in at the Italian restaurant, loved the sushi that we had to come back for hibachi at Umani. We ate breakfast every morning. Their buffet spread is no joke! They have different juices, coffee, latte, espresso. My favorite is the green juice. Super healthy! Pastry and bread section, eggs, their signature Mexican dishes, salads, fruit, cereal, and a charcuterie section! So much food. They have a schedule for different themed meals for lunch. So many food options. This boutique hotel had a lot to offer! Spa (extra, not included with inclusive package), complimentary yoga, beach photoshoot (30 minute session-2 digital pictures for free), snack bar, karaoke on certain days, live bands, games near the pool and more! Our room was simple but I love the walk in shower and the patio. You do get a security box. My favorite was the patio that overlooked the ocean. So warning, if you do not have a room in the hotel (there are two separate hotels that not connected and near the pool area), rooms outdoor, prepare to walk up the steps. We were on the 5th floor. Quite a hike but so worth it. The outdoor beach and pool area has plenty of room. I love the huts for those who don't want to get in the sun. They also have an VIP area for extra. Plus the keep the beach area clean and clear of seaweed. Honestly, I've been to huge and expensive resorts and they are okay, but this place has the best service and offers so much that you don't have to worry about drinks and food. We've made friends with the employees and had the greatest experience. Please make sure to tip, these people work hard to serve and make sure you are happy. We are thinking of coming back again next year because the stay was excellent. I love small hotels that treat you like royalty. Thanks Hotel NYX!

They have a Bistro and Mexican restaurant(Sisal) which are really great as well. The service at the resort has been very pleasant and welcoming. DATED FACILITY BUT BEAUTIFUL BEACH!…read more I will start by saying I've stayed at this resort once before 15 years ago and at that time it was amazing, 15 years later and it feels very dated and there are upgrades needed in the rooms. There are so many wonderful places to choose from in Cancun, they really need to step up to compete. This resort caters to members. If you are not a timeshare member but a regular guest who booked through something like Expedia as I did you will not get the same experience. They purposely make it difficult to get a reservation at the restaurants leaving the buffet as the only option. They cater to members and you can only get a guaranteed dinner reservation if you attend their timeshare presentation. I will say that after we complained to Expedia the staff was very quick to rectify this and give us access to reservations at the 2 other dinner options. Cons: - Depending on where they put you, you may have to change rooms mid way through your stay which is very inconvenient. Every Saturday they have members that come in and if you are in a member room you must move out and into a different room. This was unexpected and very different from how most resort/hotel stays work - The buffet dinner is not good, there are limited selections of bland food. For this to be the main dinner option they need to give more options and change the food regularly. They should add hand sanitizer stations and encourage people to use the tongs provided, I witnessed a few visitors using their bare hands to get items from the buffet. - They gave us a drink menu, we ordered and it turns out that drink is not included in the all inclusive. They need to clarify this and not offer items that are not included. When the majority of people are here for all inclusive they are not expecting additional charges for items that are offered. - Drinks are HEAVILY watered down, I've been to many all inclusive places and have never had drinks this bad - The toilets are extremely low so caution to those with mobility limitations. - There were no hangars in our first room. Even the most basic hotel provides hangers! The second room we were switched to had hangers but had no fan in the bathroom. This is causing mildew buildup which you can see in the photos. Again there are many updates needed in the rooms Pros: - One thing I really appreciated was the cleanliness of the whole resort. Besides the mildew in the second room, everything was spotless and they work hard to keep things clean - The staff was very friendly and welcoming. - They have a convince store that has all you need and even groceries. - The 2 specialty restaurants are the only place to get good food and the staff was amazing. We really appreciated the warm welcome and amazing service by German at the Hacienda Sisal and Orlando at the Club Bistro! They both really made sure we had a good time and gave great recommendations on the meals. These were the only places to get good food and both German and Orlando were so hospitable that we went to each restaurant twice. If not for them we would have had to go outside the resort for dinner which is crazy when it's all inclusive. - THE BEACH! This is a beautiful beach location and I believe it's the only thing that keeps people coming back as we met a few other travelers who have been returning to this location for decades

Besides the price (extra $127/night for a toddler), we had a wonderful experience - the food (both quality and variety), the well-kepted grounds, the amenities (Kid's Club, gym, pools) and the service are all top-notch. Food: there are food available from 6AM to 11PM. Some places I visited multiple times are: The cafe (opens from 6AM to 11PM) - coffee, tea and Frappe available all day. I usually stopped by after the gym (yoga near the beach at 7AM) to grab a iced latte and freshly baked pastires (dulce de leches cruffin is my favorite). Habaneros (opens from 12-6PM) - this is a casual spot serving tacos and ceviche on the beach. Even my toddler enjoyed the mixed ceviche with octupus. I enjoyed the ceviche, salmon toastada, and octopus tacos, while my toddler playyed with sand on the beach next to the table. Moongate (opens after 5PM) - the only restaurant that requires reservation, but for Teppanyaki ONLY. We were able to make a reservation for 5PM about 3 days in advance. The Teppanyaki chefs are all super energetic and made the experience fun for both kids and adults. We went back for dinner, and enjoyed some Asian Fusion dinner of ramen and sushi/rolls. My favorites include Short-rib, Teriyaki Salmon and the Omakase Nigiri. Trade Winds (opens for breakfast and dinner) - best steak in the resort. Last but not least, it took me 3 days to find my non-alcoholic drink of choice - strawberry mojito. I'm not a fan of the pina colada here, just FYI. One thing I don't like is the dolphins in captivity. I know it's a major attraction of the resort, and my kids honestly enjoyed watching the dolphins swim around and being trained. But it still makes me sad to see them contained in such a limited area.

Highly recommend because the bench chairs get taken up early in the day with people who simply put towels on them and walk away. The views here are amazing. The water is warm and blue. We stayed here for 5 days, booked via Airbnb listed as Marlin Beachfront Apartment hosted by Cecilia. Maybe this can help someone find an updated, spacious & conveniently located family home that actually does have ocean views and is 4 steps away from the sand. My husband, myself & our 5 adult children and their partners were all very comfortable here. Our unit had a very large kitchen with everything one needs to cook. The many bedrooms were all spacious with ample closet room and dressers, TVs, too. The family room and dining room on first floor had direct beach access. The top balconies had impeccable ocean views with patio tables & seating. It's location was wonderful. A 5 minute walk to shopping, restaurants & also a movie theater. That in addition to the many vendors along the coast made us want for nothing. If you're looking to stay here, look closely at the details of your listing & ask the right questions. Only a few units can be along the sand; the rest are obviously behind those units & are probably lacking the views everyone wants on their vacation. ASK, ASK, ASK. Unfortunately, for the past two years, our experiences have declined significantly. The hotel no longer maintains the level of service and standards we once loved. The atmosphere feels different, the staff are not as welcoming, and there is a noticeable lack of attentiveness and care. During this stay, we had a particularly unpleasant two-day experience at the beach regarding the setup of lounge chairs and umbrellas. Rather than going into every detail, I will simply say the situation was handled poorly and left us very disappointed. What was most upsetting was that no meaningful effort was made to resolve the issue or make up for the inconvenience. Even after speaking with Guest Relations, who mentioned contacting the General Manager, nothing improved the following day. No accommodation or gesture was offered, which was surprising given the hotel's luxury positioning. It is also noticeable that the property feels quite empty during weekdays, except on special occasions or long weekends. Even then, the warmth and hospitality we once associated with this hotel seem to be missing. That said, I want to sincerely recognize Valenzo, who served us daily. He was professional, kind, and incredibly attentive. We never had to ask for anything, he would notice small details, like refilling ice before we even realized it was melting. His service was outstanding and he truly tried to make our stay better. Thank you, Valenzo. You made a difference. It is genuinely sad to see a place that once meant so much to us lose its standard. We hope management takes guest feedback seriously and invests in retraining staff to restore the level of service this property was once known for.

When checking in, I was told to pay USD$613.44. I showed the confirmation email to the receptionist. The receptionist explained this but saying the exchange rate was different to the time of booking. The exchange rate from Euro to USD$ on the day that I checked in (5th March) was 1.16 between Euro and USD$. This is such a minor difference between the exchange rates at the time when I made the booking and the time when I checked in that it should not have made any major difference in the price. Still, I was charged USD$613.44 instead of the price in the confirmation email USD$538. I have looked again at my confirmation email and it says nothing about any 'hidden' fees or taxes that will be added at the time of checking in. I have never experienced this at any other hotel I have ever stayed at, that the hotel will charge a higher price than what is agreed in the confirmation email. In addition, the hotel was noisy. I had to sleep with earplugs every night. In addition to this, I woke up from a strong smell of cigarettes in my room 3 out of 4 nights. I could not understand where the smell was coming from. No one was smoking outside my room or on the balconies. I guess people were smoking in neighbouring rooms and the smell seeped through the cracks into mine.
