Great customer service, excellent product. When my daughter wanted her poster laminated, I found Copyworks just off campus. I was horrified that I was going to have to pay $50 to laminate the big poster and a couple of smaller items. When the clerk saw that the poster was an ISU presentation, she offered me the student discount. My bill was under $30. I was so impressed. She told me that I could come back and pick up my project, but I chose to wait until the work was done. It was all finished within half an hour. The plastic lamination was thicker than what I have purchased before at other places and higher quality. Copyworks rocks! read more

Campus Town at ISU has definitely seen better days since I occasionally visited from Iowa City and hung out with my friend Bob. But I still enjoy walking around the couple block area when I'm in town. Copy Works is located on the corner of Lincoln Way and Welch and previous occupants have included a previously established tobacco and periodicals shop among other things. I briefly stopped by to make some copies of some school and insurance documents related to my son. The inside is what you would expect, yet the electronic payment system wasn't quite as idiot proof as I had hoped. Luckily, one of the staff member was repeatedly helpful and had a great sense of humor doing it. Good service sometimes shows itself in places you least expect. read more

Most unhelpful service!!! Alpha Copies has better service, and they are cheaper than Copyworks or competitively priced for most things. I like that the employees and owner at Alpha Copies actually tries to figure something out for you, unlike Copyworks which will be like no we don't do that, you have to get it this way and pay up the butt for it... oh and by the way, we have a graphic designer you can use (...to drag out something to size, since I already had my design made in .pdf), but you have to pay her $75+ per hour in addition to printing costs. Your quote is approximately $160. ... I spent $74 total at Alpha Copies and my board looks beautiful! read more

I purchased one of those super-annoying loose-leaf textbooks for a course. I took it to Copyworks to see if they could bind it for me. It was a very thick book for which they didn't have a large enough spiral. I told them to pick a spot midway and divide the book into two halves. Which they did, and it turned out amazingly well (it only cost ~$10 and took about 15 minutes). It's very slightly more cumbersome than a hardbound textbook, but way better than trying to deal with it in its original, loose-leaf form. I no longer dread having to buy loose-leaf textbooks. read more

Every time I come in the staff is courteous, prompt, and always assistive. I go nowhere else.

The night employees are very incompetent and honestly just rude and lazy. One single person was running the counter as a small line piled up waiting to be helped, and three other employees were sitting down and gossiping out in the open. I get that it's located in a college area but it's still incredibly unprofessional to hear them swearing to each other right in front of customers--not the only time that I have experienced this. After finally being helped, the employee somehow manages to print my PDF at 50% size on my special ordered paper. This effectively ruined all of it that I had brought along with me. Mistakes happen, but it would be nice of them to "proof" things on plain paper when they mess around with the settings before printing all over a limited number of special stock. This is really unfortunate as I live closer to Copyworks, but was reminded of why I will always go to Alpha Copies for anything more complex than an 8 1/2 x 11 on copy paper. read more

I've always found the Ames Copyworks staff courteous and helpful, particularly when I'm working on a non-routine project and can use some good advice on which materials to use. They answer online queries promptly and apparently at all hours. I sent a recent project in at 9 p.m. on a Saturday night and it was ready for me early Sunday morning. I have gone to Copy Works on several late nights needing print outs and as an architecture student I am not talking about petty 5 page papers. I have gone to them on multiple occasions asking for them to print 80 pages front and back for booklets and they have delivered every-time. They don't make mistakes often, but when they do they reprint pages and if causes you to lost time the reimburse you money. They have also corrected my mistakes, during one my prints I needed 100 business cards and in my rush to make my cards I accidentally miss spelled my own name. They noticed the mistake and called me on a number I left them in case anything went wrong and they corrected and ready to print the following morning without me having to come in! Overall they have great service with staff that know what they are doing. read more
