Ate lunch on 6-12-26. The place was nearly empty. We were seated promptly and had a waitress take our food/drink order. As we waited we watched as an incoming party waited for several minutes as no persons were present to assist in seating this party. Our food arrived and one order was incorrect. This was brought to the attention of the server. We had waited long enough for the original order and didn't want to wait for the corrected second order. Food wasn't bad. The Dill pickle fries are fries, not Dill pickles. Waitress a bit inattentive, especially for the lack of guests. Also we were under the assumption that the pickle fries were pickles, but I guess that is on us. Understand now why it was empty at noon on a Friday. We visited there today for the first time, on Easter of all days. We got there early, with no reservations, but they accommodated us (which there was only 3) to a table in the bar area. We just sat at the bar for about 10 min which was completely fine. The bartender was super nice, and the Strawberry Mango Bellini rocked! We got to the table and our server was very attentive for as busy as it got. I unfortunately cannot remember his name, but he made great recommendations and knew the menu well. It's been a minute since I've been to this hidden gem. No like literally, you could drive right past Copper Boar and never see it. Or if you did see it, not know how to access it. It's off Penn, but still hard to see. But if you know what you're look for-- the location is convenient, easy access from 965 or the interstate. The patio is amazing with tons of greenery, shade and event a tv outside to watch the big game. We were seated there right away. There's a lot of seating! My biggest knock is the service was SO slow. Like, two hours slow. But the waitstaff we encountered were kind, diligent and knowledgable. I'm chalking it up to a short staffed kitchen. EVERYTHING on the brunch menu looked, sounded and was sublime. I had the Hot Nashville Chicken and Waffles. SO good. The pickles were a nice touch, I loved the hot with the sweet maple syrup in each bite. $1 mimosas with the purchase of an entree was a nice touch. Tender prime rib piled high and the fries were perfect crispy and delicious. The pork was really good. My lunch partner could not stop raving about it. We are food connoisseurs. We've been going here regularly since the day they opened. We've had almost everything on their menu and it's always been mouthwateringly appetizing, delectable, savory and absolutely scrumptious. The employees and owners are truly wonderful people, attentive, knowledgeable, efficient, professional and friendly. You can tell they enjoy their job as they are always smiling. They're a well oiled machine, everyone works together and happily helps each other. We absolutely love the cozy atmosphere and we have parties in their private room frequently. I don't personally know anyone that works there or the owners so I do not have a biased opinion. I honestly can't think of a negative thing to say about Copper Boar. Service was a little bit slow given that the place wasn't all that busy the day we went, but it was adequate. We came here for a date night and had a great experience! We sat outside by the fire which was amazing. The service was great and not overbearing. We ordered the buratta appetizer and it was incredible. Then we split the mushroom Swiss burger which was seriously the best burger I've ever had. As soon as I hear brunch, I have to be there! I tried Copper Boar for dinner not long after they opened, and thought it had a lot of potential. So, I was excited to hear they were serving brunch. We all ordered the breakfast sandwich which was pretty delicious. It has a hollandaise sauce, which gives an Eggs Benedict vibe, one of my favorite brunch items. The breakfast potatoes had a great seasoning as well. And it wouldn't be brunch without mimosas...$1 each! The menu is pretty limited, but they noted they are expanding it soon. My husband got the pepperoni pizza with fresh salad (crust was amazing!) our daughter got the lemon pepper salmon and she said it was one of the best salmon she has ever had. Lastly, I got the Asian chicken salad and oh my, so fresh, filling and good! Love, love, love! The food here is delicious and on its own level in North Liberty. While there are a number of places to grab a respectable bite in town, this restaurant kicks things up a notch. Copper Boar's diverse, yet refined, menu provides elegant options for a variety of palates. Appetizers: We ordered the pork belly and the brussels sprouts. The pork belly paired well with the tangy and fresh cucumber salad that was served alongside it. I personally slobbered over the brussels sprouts, which were some of the best sprouts I've ever had. The gochuhang sauce, cilantro, and mint spoke harmoniously to one another, and the green apple and subtle charring of the sprouts brought the dish home. The portion size for the app was just the right level of generous, too. Entrees: We ordered the Steak Frites and Bucatini Pomodoro. The steak was cooked well and the fries were the right texture. The pommes aligo (cheese mashed potatoes) took some getting used to, but were very tasty in the end. They taste and move more like melted cheese than potato. The bucatini pasta was cooked perfectly and clearly not from a box. The spicy sausage and creamy basil tomato sauce/house crema complemented each other so well that I found myself gearing up to eat the entire dish in one setting. Thankfully, I had some self control and was able to take some home for lunch the next day (which reheated well and tasted just as amazing as it did when fresh). We head the pork belly which was pretty bland and it stuck to the serving plate making it difficult to eat. My personal pizza was the spicy hawaiian, but there really was no "spicy" to it. Could have used either some red pepper flakes or hot honey to spice it up. Otherwise enjoyed the crispy Detroit crust. My husband had Buffalo wings, but neither of us could taste any Buffalo sauce on it. Almost looked like they just seasoned with Buffalo flavoring? Upon my arrival I wondered why this place was so dead....now I know why. The "pub fries" were greatly under seasoned, and disgustingly sweet. The bird sauce was so sweet it took over the whole dish. The menu said there was pork belly on this, whatever I received (I believe it was pulled pork, it was nothing like belly) there was less than an ounce. I also ordered a conan's mule. It was burnt. Way too much jim beam, again the sweetness was over powering, and you couldn't taste the strawberry or the raspberry. The bartender gave me good service, though she admitted to messing up two bourbon smashes to the creepy manager that looked pissed off and never stopped pacing the 40 minutes I was there. She also recommended the pub fries so she must not know good food, and now I have trust issues! I gave 2 stars cuz their happy hour deals are good. I would have been pretty pissed if I paid full price for these, $5 miles and half priced draws. My bill was $18 and some change for what you see plus a draw of a sub-par sour. read more

I ended up with the breakfast that included eggs, bacon, and pancakes. Bacon and eggs were cooked perfectly. Pancakes were an overwhelming disappointment. They were dense and tasted a lot like flour and baking powder. My daughter got the biscuits and gravy. The biscuits were hard and burnt on the outside but fluffy on the inside. They purposely burn the marshmallow merengue but the burnt taste overpowers the flavor of the waffle and lemon curd. A bit of a waste for $11.95 The breading on the kid's chicken strips was too thick and tasted a bit off. And the chicken in general was bland and flavorless. Like it had no seasoning at all.
