Blue Agave, damn you fine. I popped in for happy hour on a random Thursday (offered 2-6pm, M-Th) and was BLOWN AWAY by your whole lewk and vibe. You're definitely a spot worthy of a special celebration! Blue Agave, you're one of only two higher end Mexican establishments in the area (Alebrije being the other) and don't tell that other spot, but you have a much more approachable menu with many more options. I'll shout from the roof tops about your Happy Hour! It featured a $6 house margarita and half price apps. We ordered the trio sampler-- delicious. Loved everything on it, especially the guacamole and fresh chips. Next was the momias which were good in theory (loved the chipotle ranch sauce) but not at all executed well. I'd skip that next time. Finally, a trio of Al pastor tacos. Wowza. Some of the best in the area! Don't skip the hot sauce, either. Your parking is a non-issue. Your service is absolutely wonderful. Your menu has something for everyone. Pricing is a bit steep-- about $20 for three tacos-- but again, you're boujee and it seems your food is worth it. I can't wait for my next visit, Blue Agave!

I am traveling for work and used Yelp to find this place because I was craving some tacos. It was a pretty neat place! I went on a Tuesday night and it was pretty slow. Only about three groups in there. However, that means service was super quick! The staff was very friendly, and my food came out really quick. I ordered a blueberry margarita, and it was really good! I was confused at why it wasn't blue, but that's because they use real/fresh blueberries and mash them up inside the drink. I also ordered the quesabirria tacos and they were so good! And it comes with consommé. I ate every bit! And they don't fall apart when you're trying to eat them. They hold their shape very well. I would definitely go back. It's a pretty large space so it would be good for groups. I think it would be a cool spot to hang out on a weekend night. They have a pretty extensive drink menu as well.

Birthday surprise. A Miami Vice drink.

The service was a little slow, but considering that we were there In the early afternoon on the Tuesday before Christmas, it's totally understandable. You brought our entrées out and got my order wrong, but was quick to remedy the situation, and when it came out, my food was phenomenal. Very hot and fresh. The atmosphere is very cool reminded me of a "new wave" Mexican restaurant. Wasn't busy but there again, were there in early afternoon and it happened to be a Tuesday. But according to some of my friends that live in the IRL, it's never really that busy, so do yourself a favor and head on over there and give them a shot!!! Speaking of which, they do have some really good tequilas as well.

We ate here over the weekend while in town for the game, and could see this as a fun spot in town! The service was excellent and quick, food was tasty and the margs were huge! but perfect for happy hour! this space has lots of seating options and tvs to watch the games.

Stopped in tonight with a group of 6. This place has such a cool vibe and an extensive drink menu. I had a steak burrito and a draft beer. The queso was rich & creamy and the guacamole was fresh & delicious. Good food/ Good service.

It's really nice outside and inside seating. They have some type of happy hour 3-6 (I think) on margaritas so we got one. We all enjoyed our food, especially the presentation. I'd highly recommend any of their street tacos.

New addition to Iowa River Landing. Forgot to take a pic of the gold Cadillacs margarita but it was big and delicious. Had this orange taste to it, phenomenal. The queso in my opinion is good, but my niece fell in love with it and I think would have taken a gallon home if they let her. The guacamole is chunky and felt homemade, which I loved. Albeit - the guacamole and the queso both came with an abnormal amount of chips. Might of been better to have a more equal balance but the chips were delicious so, we just took the extra home and I ate them as a snack. The shrimp tacos were stuffed to the brim which made it difficult to eat, and the tacos did fall apart. However, the flavor was there and they didn't skim on the shrimp. The chicken fajitas were abundant - maybe a bit too many peppers compare to chicken, but good to share and you can request more tortillas (which come out warm). Service was attentive, but we went on the earlier side and as it got crowded, folks seemed to be waiting a bit. The murals throughout the restaurant are gorgeous. I wish there were more booths and less high tops but that is just my preference. They had some tvs mounted and were showing some sport games, so might be a good place to go watch a game. Also had seating on the counter/bar area. It looked like they may have a private space upstairs, but didn't get a look at it. Might be good for catered events or a private reception. All in all, a really good place and needed addition.

Really good food & good service! The vibes are also really nice. Love the atmosphere and the decoration! Would eat again!

    Trio Sampler Burrito Gigante

The service was pretty slow when we went (waited probably an hour for our food) which was kind of odd considering they weren't busy. Their food was also mid and they wouldn't be in my top choices for Mexican food. Plus, it's kind of overpriced, but they're in the IRL so maybe that's why? Their set up is kind of weird inside and it feels crowded if they seat you in the middle of the restaurant because you pretty much only have enough space to get in and out of your seat.

One item combo with chicken enchilada rice and beans. Fresh fruit raspberry mint margarita.

Bad service. Low quality food. Salsa maybe from a can. The one star is for the decor and the first round of margaritas.

This was the least tasteful Mexican food I have ever eaten. The prices are inflated & the food is bland.

The $50 sirloin steak was served cold. Because our waitress, Grace H, failed to even ask how our food was the entire time until after we had eaten everything I couldn't even send it back. I spent the entire time trying to make eye contact with her but she was busy taking new tables. When she finally came to ask how our food was and was told, her response was I will let the kitchen know. Not "I will bring you another plate" or even discount or comp the entree. Not what you'd expect from Iowa city's fine dining flagship. The prices were not just expensive, but over the top expensive. $50 for an 8 ounce sirloin. $56 for 12 average oysters. To be honest it's below average in value to a nice restaurant in LA, NY or Chicago. They may thrive because the IC elite doesn't have many options for upscale dining. But for someone who has lived in those cities and eaten at Michelin star culinary venues this place is lacking in both food and service for the prices they charge. It was enough of a bad experience that I will never be back. There's Chez Grace, Joseph's and 126 which offer quality food, much better value and food service. Posting my food pics and the receipt to see what $200 gets you here.

It gives non-college town vibes with crystal light fixtures, tiled walls, big city pictures-- and just an overall 'swanky' feel. The menu has something for everyone-- from small plates to flat breads to (oddly) a plethora of seafood entrees. Additionally, you can get stuffed olives by the skewer to order. I think this is the only place in town to have such a diverse offering of olives. (But I suppose, with a name like the Stuffed Olive-- you can't not.) I ordered a charcuterie to go and I thought bang per buck was ok? But the quality of ingredients as well as how it was packed was less than to be desired. That being said-- the greeting I got from staff when I walked in to pick up my order was great! I got my order on time and in a hurry. The real star of this IC watering hole is its extensive martini menu -- from traditional to dessert. I've popped in a time or two to enjoy these. And now that I know Mondays are buy one, get one for a penny-- I may pop in a time or two more! Staff has been hit or miss my few visits. Pricing seems on point. Parking, as always in downtown IC, is tricky. I recommend the Dubuque Parking Ramp. Overall, this is a welcomed addition to the downtown scene. I can totally see myself having a date night or girls night with a martini in hand at Stuffed Olive.

This, in addition to the gorgeous 70s vibes from the restaurant. I love it. I love the way it shows the thought and care that went into every single detail. Food: Open your menu. Find the meal with the maple-glazed carrots. Order them. Thank me. Again, no idea about where exactly they're located on the menu because I tried them at a Yelp event, but they are exquisite. The best-tasting carrots I've ever eaten. Like, I found myself wanting a plate of veggies. That should speak volumes. They also get their desserts daily from Bread Garden, and if you've ever stopped by (it's literally next door, so I would hope so), they're more like the Bread Eden. So in other words, you can expect a lot from their desserts. I had pie served on an artfully decorated plate with fresh cream on top, and I was two seconds away from licking my plate it was so good. Drinks: Their cocktails are AMAZING. I can already picture spring and summer, stopping by for a quick bite and a cocktail on their patio. This place is in an ideal location, and with excellent beverages and yummy apps, what's not to love? Decor: Did I mention it's awesome? Yeah. It's awesome. This isn't a huge restaurant, but it's worth noting that the space is divided, so it could easily accommodate a larger group with a more private dining vibe on the far side of the room.
