Small Mexican restaurant tucked away in a shopping plaza! I love hidden gems like this, the food is usually delicious and this place matched up. I ordered a steak and carnitas burrito, that joint was huge and full of flavors. I preformed a magic trick and my burrito disappeared (in my belly) within a few minutes. I couldn't resist! Food was great! read more

Great place to eat for a quick taco or burrito meal while out running errands. My burrito was huge. My husband enjoyed his tacos. It has a casual bar vibe as well. Service was good as well. read more

Every time we order on Tuesday they short us 4-7 tacos. We order 20 tacos which are packaged 5 to a batch. When unwrapping to eat we find that we are always missing 1 or 2 from each batch. At first we thought maybe this was a mistake due to it being so busy on Tuesday but This has happened 3 separate times or 3 separate orders under 3 different names. Food is tasty but don't jipp your loyal customers read more

Yeah, they're good. They're attitudes their behavior. I felt nothing but racism pouring out of here. I was like there's no way I would ever eat there again, but I went to the other one that was by the college. It was the total opposite. I couldn't even identify the food that was over on first and what was it first in Edgewood read more

The tacos palmas SLAP every time. Never had an issue with service. Discount if you use cash.

Went on Cinco De Mayo and walked away feeling this was a simply a "oh no!" My order was not accurate and the take out order was so hurriedly thrown into its containers that I practically just had to turn it all into a mixed taco salad. I had heard good things about the one on Kirkwood blvd. I guess I should have tried that location maybe. read more

Wonderful place! This was my first time being there. We were there at 2pm on a Wednesday and got a "Buy one get one free" margarita. I had the vegetarian burrito. HUGE BURRITO! Think of chipotle but wider and taller! Super stuffed full of veggies. I probably should've asked for some guac or sour cream to be place inside to make it better but ordering how it is, tastes great! read more

I will start by saying that I really appreciate that restaurants are working so hard during this difficult time and the overwhelming majority of my experiences lately have been great. Unfortunately, Taco Depot was an outlier. It is some of the worst Mexican food I have ever tasted. It seemed as if it is made for people who haven't had real Mexican and are looking for something a half step up from taco bell. We ordered tacos for taco Tuesday and got carnitas, steak and chicken. The meat was bland and didn't taste like it was seasoned for tacos. It was like someone took leftovers from another meal out of the fridge and decided to make tacos with them. They used flour tortillas that tasted like the grocery store brand--not the usual freshly made corn tortillas you get at a lot of more authentic places. Our tacos were supposed to be topped with lettuce, tomato, cheese and sour cream. There was a lot of lettuce and sour cream and very little cheese and tomato. Just overall bland and not restaurant quality (see photos). I can definitely make something better at home. We also ordered guacamole and chips. You can tell the avocado is mixed with something (maybe sour cream) so you don't get that really tasty guacomole that you get when it's pure fresh avocado. The chips also tasted like bagged chips which was so disappointing because one of the exciting parts about ordering tortilla chips from a restaurant is that they're often freshly made. Taco Depot seems to have a lot of fans but it really was the worst meal I have had in awhile. Maybe it was an off night but with a number of other options around I won't be returning. read more

I am SO FULL! I've never been to The Taco Depot & and I am so glad I went! My daughter and I got to seat ourselves and Brian came right over to give us menus and drinks. We got chips and queso to start off with. Then I ordered the burrito depot steak and it was so delicious. I can only eat half of it. My daughter got a steak quesadilla with no tomatoes. Our order was not only right it was hot and fresh. The interior design was so relaxing and calm that I could just sit there for hours on end, and not want to go anywhere else. It wasn't hot in there. It wasn't cold in there. The restaurant is so clean and immaculate on the inside I did not see that coming. I am so glad there's not a Hardee's there anymore and The Taco Depot took over. I will be back for more. Brian and the gentleman that cook their food are definitely top-notch. I felt very welcomed and appreciated and cared for from one human to another. That's hard to find these days. I hope you enjoy the photos below. I'm telling you you go there. You won't be sorry. read more

Always I had some issues with these guys. Only the first visit when i had been there, they were good. Earlier I was mad at their servers and services. But today, I am upset, with just messing up my order. after working all morning, I ordered a takeout and they gave me a wrong order. And asked me to come back, which was ok but then the Mexican guy was very rude. As if he was doing a favor on me by giving me a correct order. I wasted my entire lunch hour going back n forth because someone didn't check what they were packing. The server came out and said I am giving you free chips n salsa and I was like they don't care and just left. I don't like 1 star review but you deserve it :( read more

The food was good. The service was slow and the place wasn't busy. The margaritas were downright nasty syrupy and warm, yes warm! Not very impressed from the word of mouth recommendations. read more

Cheap and delicious. Quick, friendly service. Also had a great atmosphere. Definitely worth checking out. Only downside is they dont offer free chips and salsa. But with the prices being as low as they are , i understand. read more

Just a little spot in a strip mall that's worth your time. I started coming here at the recommendation of a friend, and now it's my go to stop every week for dinner! My typical order is a few of their Taco Depot, chicken with sour cream and avocado salsa. But on $1 taco night you bet I'll order a few of the $1 tacos and add salsa from their traveling salsa bar! They bring out a rack with 4 salsas (including their avocado salsa) with your meal so you can customize the heat! If you're unsure, come on taco Tuesday when their Taco Ramirez (meat, onion, cilantro) is only $1! I've had their house margarita which was good, not too strong or too weak. Not a big drinker, so it's not every time I get a marg. Finally, their queso. It's $4 for a small with chips which is plenty for 2-3 people! Their queso rivals other local spots like Cancun and Mas Margaritas in Marion. TL;DR go to taco depot and get queso and some tacos! read more

I really want to give this place 5 stars but sadly I cannot. So I'm leaving some room for improvement. It was clean and the atmosphere was wonderful. Service was great! Chips, salsa and queso yummm !! Shrimp and fish tacos ! We also got a beef taco and steak quesadilla. Beef and steak were dry neither was that great. We will be back and I would still recommend this place but there could be some improvement. Authentic Mexican is hard to find in CR good job La Taqueria we will see you again soon and hopefully with an update and another star to add. read more

In my many trips to both the Edgewood Rd SW and Miller Ave SW locations, the staff has always been super friendly, genuine and attentive. Tacos, drinks and queso c/chorizo are my recommendation. I really miss their jalapeno gears (appetizer), but still love their food options. Very fun and generous margarita flights. I will always recommend this place for affordable and delicious food, and friendly staff! read more

$1 tacos on Tuesday's! Chicken, steak, ground beef, pastor, carnitas, chorizo, lengua, buche. Oh. My. God. Some of the best carnitas and pastor I've had in the area! Service is quick, food is good, beer is cold! Choice of 4 sauces, all are amazing! Will be returning! read more

We love Taco Depot 2. The food is SO good. The chorizo queso is delicious, and so are the tacos. I'm not a big fan of the margaritas, but apparently, the pina coladas are excellent. The service is a little slow because it's a small place that doesn't have a ton of staff. One of our favorite fast, delicious places to eat in Cedar Rapids. We'll be back, for sure. read more

I wanted to try out the tacos for the taco Tuesday special. They have a wide variety of meats to add to the street tacos. The corn tortillas worked great with the meats they cooked for me. The service was good and with the number of customers, plus the drive thru going on, the timing was adequate. I might have to try the other items on the menu another time, it is close for me so it can't hurt to try something else besides what I normally get at these places. read more

The food was good but, I open my queso and half of it was gone which was very disappointing. Then my wife open her fries and it look like it been getting pick and ate at. The food was cold also. I'm just very disappointed. Like I don't want your scratch's I just want my food. read more

First time here! And we will be back! Ordered take out and my order was ready right on time! Had the vegetarian burrito (minus the dairy) it was great! My husband and I had to split it it was so huge! Roasted corn added a sweet smokey taste! Yummy! We also got the vegetarian taco and it was ok- it was good just got a little to smooshy for take out. The reasons I am not giving them a 5 star review was that the items did not come with a side, no chips no salsa, no lettuce salad, and I wish they would add the vegetation taco for their taco Tuesday-only tacos with meat were $1 which it seems that it would be cheaper to have the veggie one as a special too. Can't wait to go and eat in! read more

Stopped here for the first time. Asked what was good - was told they had the best tacos in town...definitely did not disappoint! Absolutely delicious tacos!!! Tried three different kinds. Juicy meats. The veggie taco was delicious too! Definitely going back to try all the tacos. Also enjoyed the chips and queso. read more

OMG, this place is flippin' amazing. I have a habit of getting like 8 of their chorizo tacos on taco Tuesday and gorging myself till I'm in a food coma. I have never tried anything other that the taco ramirez but I'm sure everything else rocks. Uou can also call in and pick them up to go since the rona has changed things. Do yourself a favor and eat at this place. The tacos are amazballs! read more

We stopped by this place on the way home, 6:40PM on a Sunday. Great service and great food. If you want street tacos quickly this is the place. Hubby's burrito was massive and he gave it props. So glad we passed by Pancharos up the street for this little gem. read more

They have the best tacos you will ever eat and amazing customer service they are the nicest severs and you will love the place.

Ordered a take out order....just a few tacos. Literally 55 minutes to get the tacos. Just did not expect to wait quite that long. read more

Had takeout from this location and was even more disappointed than the first time I went. Rice was HARD and CRUNCHY. Why would they even serve hard rice that is either not cooked well or too old? Salsa was pretty basic. Too watery for my liking but still okay. Steak tacos were also not that great. Meat was hard and I was unsure why they used flour tortillas. Horchata had very little flavor and a strange taste. The only positive thing was the street corn. Very basic to make but it's hard to find elotes in Iowa so this was nice to see. Overall, I likely will not come back. Disappointed in the quality of my food and why they would serve a customer crunchy rice at a Mexican restaurant. I've never even been served hard rice at Taco Bell. read more

A few friends and I decided to try la taqueria out last night for their $1 tacos and margarita flights. I'd first like to say that the place looked very nice on the inside and was packed so we were very excited to try it out. We ordered the chips and salsa/ caso and enjoyed those as our appetizer. When our food came out it looked delicious and it didn't disappoint. For that alone la taquería would have gotten a 5/5. The reason la taquería got a 2/5 was solely based on the $17 margarita flight. I ordered the mango, strawberry, and blue lagoon for my flight and each one was incredible hard to drink. You couldn't taste any tequila and it seemed as the the bartender just poured the flavor into the cup and threw ice in it and served it. The drink was thick and tasted like syrup. I would order the food from this place but from here on out, I'll only be getting water. read more

Best queso dip I've ever had! Forget about all the other bad experiences you've had elsewhere and order it.

Best sea food tacos I've ever had plus amazing service. I couldn't recommend this place enough

Me and my husband went today for our three wedding anniversary lunch. I had a fish taco and carnitas taco. The first taco was chopped, very fishy, white fish. Not a fan. My carnitas taco was pretty good but has a few large pieces of fat. My husband had a shrimp taco and steak and chorizo taco. He loves both. The service was wonderful!! I loved the decor!! I was disappointed that they posted a new elote item but did not have it when we were there. I do plan to go back and try other things. read more

Oh my! My new favorite spot for amazing wonderful tacos. Nice place, great service and very reasonable prices.

If Todd and Kristena give thumbs up on a restaurant, you should just trust us. So hard to find a mexican restaurant that offers chorizo bec its all so americanized around CR. But YUM!! You wont be disappointed! Enjoy! And the Pepper and onion dish...its toreados and cebollitas. Who needs breading!! Delish! JUJU was a great server and super pretty too -K read more

A new location just opened in Cedar Rapids on Miller Ave SW where the Hardee's used to be. We were eager to give it a try and happy to have another restaurant close to our house but sadly were disappointed with the food. The staff were great, very friendly and you can tell they are doing their best given that the location has only been open a very short time. But the food just isn't up to par. My husband got a steak burrito that had so much cilantro on it that he couldn't taste anything else. I had shrimp tacos and chicken tacos. The shrimp tacos were pretty good but nothing mind blowing. The chicken tacos were the real disappointment, first of all there is zero seasoning on the chicken and second the chicken has the texture of ground chicken so don't expect shredded chicken like I did. I don't think we'll be back unless the food changes, given that it's a new location with new staff there may still be hope for improvement. read more

I've heard about this place over the last year. Figured I would try it for myself. I was not disappointed. Started out with a margarita and chips and queso. Margarita was really good as well as the queso and salsa! Finished up with a few tacos. The service was just as good as the food. I am definitely going here again. read more

I went with my boyfriend and this place was amazing!!! We both got 2 tacos and churros and we will definitely be coming back. Great food. The tacos are fantastic with lots of variety. The salsas were also very good. Overall a great experience.

Went to the new location 2 days ago, service was awful. The person behind the bar was socializing with the 2 or 3 other customers purposely took a long time to take any orders. After 45 mins of no food, we finally left. I had heard the original location was good and wanted to support local. This place purposely ignored us. I will not go back. read more
