Amazing salsa. Margarita has some serious kick but not much flavor
Darryl G.

If you want a super strong but minimal flavored margarita, this is your place. But I have to say, the Carnes Asadas was worth the 15 minute wait to get a table. Great food, decent prices. I'll just stick to beer or soda next time...

Fat and gristle covered in sauce. Nasty
Kimball H.

If I could do less stars I would. Just ordered from grub hub and ordered one of the specials. The meat was just fat and gristle. Not edible. Chips n salsa was the highlight.

The stairs leading to the bathrooms. That dark trail in the middle is years of grease stomped in the carpet - never cleaned...

Fast service for the most part. During the afternoon the bartender can get a little busy - this is a popular neighborhood hangout, I guess - but they usually have your typical fishbowl-sized margarita on special, and a spread of domestic and ever real mexican beers... The food? C'mon, you know what this is: stupid-fast tex-mex style whatever with beans and rice on the side, covered in mexican cheese mix and maybe some salsa with a splash of red sauce. I've had a bunch of their lunch specials, and a fajita or two, and they're alright but nothing extravagant. It's fast, fairly cheap ($10 or less for a non-seafood entree) and exactly what you think of when you think 'midwestern mexican restaurant'. The place could use a solid deep cleaning (the carpeted stairs leading to the subterranean bathroom were pretty nasty) but all things considered it's a good spot for the family dinner. You'll walk out full, within about an hour, and not totally broke. If you've already got the drunk munchies and are still hungry before you leave, order yourself both Sopaipilla and some fried ice cream. totes magoats the best thing I had that day, after the giant marg.

My favorite place in town to get Mexican! The margs are great and the seafood enchilada never disappoints.

Adelitas offers a decent selection of authentic Mexican dishes. The customer service was excellent…read moreand friendly. The chips and salsa was good to start off with while you wait for your food. The one negative things is that my soft shell taco was cold. The portion of food was amazing and a lot for the price you paid. The location of the restaurant is easy to get to and very inviting once you're inside. I will be back to try other dishes.

I recently visited Adelitas Mexican Restaurant in Cedar Rapids after hearing that they made their…read moretortillas in-house. Sadly, when I inquired about this before ordering, the server looked at me as if I was asking something outlandish and nonchalantly remarked, "We've never done that - there isn't ANY restaurant around here that has the people to do that." This set the tone for an experience that was a mixed bag. Service: Service-wise, I was left wanting. Not only did the server's dismissive response about the tortillas disappoint me, but I also encountered another hiccup when it came to payment. After we had already paid with a debit card, we were informed that ANY sort of card used was subject to a 4% service fee. This felt like a hidden charge that should have been communicated upfront. Another minor issue was the lack of drink refills. My guest ordered a soda and was never offered a refill or asked if they needed anything else. I only ordered water for lunch and was disappointed to be offered a single refill when our food was initially brought by someone other than our server. My cup sat empty for over half an hour while we finished our meal. Food Quality: The food at Adelitas was reasonably tasty but nothing extraordinary. While their flavors were acceptable, their menu offerings of only shredded chicken and ground beef options as protein fillings fall drastically short of what I consider "industry standard." I'm not saying everyone has to have a barbacoa pit out back, but at least having a chicken breast or steak option would be nice. I will say, I did appreciate their lunch special, where you can get two choices that included tacos, chimichangas, burritos, etc., and a very well-made tamale (with your choice of sauces - and they allowed me to substitute in their queso sauce). Atmosphere: Adelitas scores well on cleanliness and location. The restaurant is well-located and offers a cozy, family-friendly environment that makes it a great spot for a quick meal. The interior is clean and spacious, with decor that is vibrant and reflective of the restaurant's Mexican theme, creating a lively and enjoyable dining experience. Outdoor seating is also available for those who prefer it. **Overall Experience:** While Adelitas Mexican Restaurant is a decent choice for a quick lunch on this side of town, my overall experience left much to be desired. With so many better options not only in Cedar Rapids but also in the surrounding neighborhoods, I personally won't be heading back to this particular restaurant anytime soon. For those considering a visit, it might be worth a try if you're in the area and need a quick bite. However, be prepared for potential service issues and hidden fees.
