We found this restaurant as we were exploring Williamsburg. After checking in to our motel, the Crest Country Inn, we needed dinner, and I am so glad to have found this place. We walked in and immediately greeted by both a server and the bartender. Lots of comfortable tables, a large bar, and an area to play pool and throw darts. Once we found a table we realized how family-friendly the restaurant was as there was a section of board games, card games, group games that people could come in and just play as they were enjoying their evening. Our server was friendly, suggesting a drink special and letting my husband sample a couple of beers before he settled on a local ale, and the bartender very easily switched the drink special from a vodka base to a bourbon base. I highly suggest a Kentucky Mule at this place! We ordered fried corn nuggets as an appetizer, which came out quickly and were very yummy. My husband ordered the steak sandwich which was well prepared and not overcooked. I had the broasted chicken with mashed potatoes and corn and was pleasantly surprised at the portion sizes. As we left, we chatted with the bartender, and then the owner of the business and they were the nicest people. Asking why we were visiting the town, where we were traveling to, where we were from, and even going so far as to compliment my nails! Really cool mom and pop place in the heart of downtown Williamsburg. Tons of space so good for big groups and they have it separated from a dining area and a sunken sports bar with plenty of seating and TVs. Got coffee and breakfast in the AM. Tenderloins sandwiches and the Mikey bar food my mid day. They also have occasion brick oven pizza that looked good. Average prices but super nice attentive servers. read more

Nice local place in downtown Williamsburg. Clearly a sports bar and grill that welcomes Chicago and St Louis fans. Lots of tvs showing a variety of athletic events but also one with a cooking channel. Servers are friendly and the food is good. Taco Tuesday featured chicken or beef tacos 2/5 dollars and tortillas soup or chili. read more

My wife and I travel to Marion from Des Moines about once a month to see family. We usually shop at the outlet mall and then head into Williamsburg for lunch. We try and support a different restaurant on each trip, and last week we had a fantastic experience at the Sundown Bar and Grill. They were very busy when we arrived, and the waitress was swamped. But after seeing our predicament, the owner took our order. The food was excellent, and the cook even came out of the kitchen and went from table to table to see how people liked the food. He wasn't fishing for compliments, but was taking a sincere approach to making sure the customers were satisfied. If you're looking for great food in a super friendly atmosphere, you've got to give this one a try. We've eaten at several restaurants in Williamsburg, but this one tops the list. We stumbled upon Sundown Bar Grill after finding all restaurants in Iowa City were closed for dine in due to Covid. We made the short drive to Williamsburg. The restaurant is divided in the middle by a large brick window like bar. One side tends to be for those looking to drink while the other is set up for full dining. You set yourself. The staff isn't overly friendly but they did their jobs sufficiently. We weren't made aware of drink/food specials. We discovered them written in the wall after we had ordered. The guys ordered bar drinks and they were pleased with the gracious amount of alcohol in them! The 4 year old gave high ratings on their Mac & cheese bites. I had the grilled chicken sandwich and fries. The chicken was a little dry. My brother in law said the Rueben was very good. My sister in law had the chicken cordon bleu, she stated it had good flavor but again just a little dry. My husband opted for the cheeseburger and said it was full of flavor. I would be open to going again if we can't find another dining experience. read more

Staff unmasked upon walking in but they did put masks on before waiting on us. Even though signs are posted on entry doors "masks required", there's no enforcement or compliance by patrons . No social distancing at bar. Chairs are without spacing....Paper plates, napkins, as well as salt /pepper on tables without sanitation between customers. Who knows who could've sneezed/touched them...Friendly staff but we were looking for a "safe place" to grab an appetizer and a beer. It proved the small town mentality has over ruled this establishment. You'd never think Covid-19 existed. I'll support somewhere else that takes the pandemic seriously. read more

Stopped here for dinner with another couple one night after wandering around the outlet mall. It's located just over the highway and settled in town--easy to find. We were greeted warmly and found the establishment to be quite clean and inviting for being a small town bar. The bar is set between two large rooms: one with bar-side seating, booths, jukebox, and pool tables; the other side has more dining. The special that night featured a steak, which the guys both enjoyed. I had the tenderloin and the other girl has the reuben. We all enjoyed our meals. The same gentleman was serving us from the moment we entered the bar to the minute we left. He was very kind and welcoming. After eating, we played a few games of pool. We stopped here for a late evening dinner. We were happy their kitchen was open until 10 on a Sunday night. Menu is pretty typical bar food. I had the BLT and it was tasty.
