Caitlin Clark and Indiana Fever were on the TV. Not packed bar but pretty busy. The bartender was alone. Her helped had called in sick. Took awhile for the barkeep to take my order and the ticket time was excessive, way over twelve minutes. But. The mushroom Swiss burger, fries and shrimp basket were very, very good. The coleslaw was absolutely delicious. I left a 25% tip because the bartender was working very hard and the food was really good. And so was Caitlin on the court. Just a terrible the worst restaurant ever in existence. The waitress slam the drink down on the table. Nick waited over an hour for his chicken tenders. Everybody else is out. Everybody was waiting in the car for him. Then, when he asked for her to go bag, she grab ripped it out of his hands. read more

Found this little place when the smoke from the nearby casino became too much- who knew they smoked at casino's! This establishment hit the spot- staff was super friendly- food was very reasonably priced, and most importantly the food was good! Got a cheeseburger and fries and it was spot on. Fries were crispy, bun was fresh and meat was cooked well. My first time to Hill, Iowa and Old 218 Tap provided a great place for the visit. Thanks guys!! read more

For a small town restaurant/bar the food is SOOOO GOOD. The western bacon cheeseburger with pickle fries is to die for. But the loaded cheese fries or nacho tots are another go to for us. Honestly you can't go wrong with anything on this menu. So good. And service has always been amazing. read more

Good place for a fun evening with friends. The food is typical bar and grill food. We hit on a Saturday night when they had their special on a ribeye. The ribeye was flavorful, but pretty thin. It was cooked to my liking (medium rare). The salad was a bit sad, but I didn't walk in expecting a gourmet meal. The server was busy but took good care of us. If you are looking for a place for intimate conversation, this may not be it...but if just hanging with friends and looking for a quick, flavorful and inexpensive meal, you will enjoy Old 218 Tap. read more

Went last Saturday for New Years Dinner with my sister! The ribeyes were tender and tasted great, mashed potatoes were fresh with brown gravy. Stopped there for Lunch on our way to Minneapolis. Had the pork tenderloin and chicken cordon blue sandwiches. We enjoyed them both. Quantity to price was very good and will stop there again if we are ever in the area again. read more

On Tuesday May 2nd, 2017, I drove 5 miles from my home to the 218 Tap on a recommendation from a co-work who raves about their wings. I walked into this kick ass bar to find it bustling. Every table but 2 were packed full this lunch hour. Waitress came swiftly and got my drink order and told me about the special for the day. I told her it was my 1st time here so I needed to study the menu. Excellent selection! I opted for the special for $8.50 which was a breaded tenderloin, fries and a drink. I added cheese, grilled onions and bacon and a side of cottage cheese. Food came out promptly. Super delish! Waitresses worked together bringing food to table and they clean up tables quickly. Loved my experience here. They have a PAC-Man game which made me happy. I will be returning to try the teriyaki wings and chicken cordon blue sandwich. A must go to spot when driving on 218 towards St. Louis. read more

I went with a group of 7 friends back in February, and we had a great time. I ordered The Old 218, and I was a little disappointed because it did not look as impressive compared to what my friends ordered. It was good, but nothing special in either taste or presentation. I rated 4 stars though because some of my friends' dishes looked fantastic-- in particular, the Tenderloin sandwich and the Roadhouse were drool-worthy, and my friends said they were delicious. I would go again to try something different since it is a nice, casual place to go with friends. read more

Was driving in down 218 and seen the sighn on the hwy for old 218 bar and grill and pulled in. Very glad we did cold beers and very good food definitely stopping on the way home. read more

I am handicapped and was pushing a child in a stroller. A double whammy. The handicapped door was locked and no doorbell to summon someone to open it. This by itself if a serious violation of the Americans with Disabilities Act. Shame on you Old 218 Tap. Went around to the front and had to hoist the stroller up three steps to get in. Not fun. Took a seat inside. The waitress acknowledged me and said she would get to me when she had a chance. She walked past, back and forth no fewer than eight times.... After a wait of ten minutes and not even a menu or a drink to tide me over I left. She needs to rethink her strategies..... Apparently her regular customers get preference and the new disabled guy is on his own.... read more

This was our 3rd time eating at Old Tap 218. We've been very pleased with our food and service until last night. We dined with our daughter & her husband and ordered the steak dinners. We started off with an appetizer of chicken gizzards which came overcooked, cold, and tasted burnt. The salads were disappointing--just pre-bagged white iceberg lettuce with a few croutons. The steaks were cooked as we specified, but were very thin and were served cold along with a lukewarm baked potato. The garlic toast was extremely salty. The waitress took 50% off our bill which we appreciated. Also the dining area was VERY cold. Many of us ate with our coats on. read more

While this is your typical small town bar/diner, I always enjoy spending a lunch or supper there. Provides a decent range of food from appetizers to the Country Boy (1/2 burger patty with steak on top). Good atmosphere and great service. Before leaving, I always enjoy looking up at the dollar bills containing various 'words of wisdom' or a name stuck to the ceiling above the bar by customers. read more

We ate supper (takeout) tonight and everything was great . Breaded tenderloin and fries and shrimp basket. Plus old 218 has awesome coleslaw. Two thumbs up! They have really stepped it up again in the big town of Hills. You iowa citizens should hop in the car and head south to this eatery,and drinkery..... Is that a word? Oh well! read more
