Great bar spot in Pella! Let me tell you, they have an ABUNDANCE of peanuts here! It's great. They have a bunch of tvs with different sports games on. They also had board games and 2 arcade style game machines in the back! Their draft beer options are super expansive! I was here on a Tuesday and it was packed!! Only issue was because of this being a popular spot, the service was very slow so keep that in mind if you are in a rush to be somewhere after. I'm originally from Oskaloosa so I know this place, but I brought my boyfriend from Florida and the moment we walked in we was going on about how cool this place is, how unique and outgoing it is ! And then we have our amazing bartender who was the best to talk to and was all about helping us find the best drinks . The vibe of this place is just a GO TO. This was a fun place. We drove from Des Moines for some Bloody Mary's, they were super fancy! Staff was fun and knowledgeable. The owner, I assume- was making bloody Mary's to go as it's New Year's Eve and I am sure people will be getting these on New Year's Day! They have a very large selection of beer, so large that if they don't have a beer you like on tap, then you just don't like beer. They do a great job of involving some of the big Midwest craft breweries as well as some of the popular places from the good ol state of Iowa. Passing through on a business trip, I was recommended to stop in for a bloody mary. Ordered the basic version - very good. I noticed on the wall of taps that they had a MYSTERY BEER for $2 a pint. How could I resist? I'm told that this one rotates and could be anything on the wall or otherwise. This time, I took a chance and lost! Not very impressive - I won't give away the secret ingredient on this one, but it wasn't something I was expecting in a beer. The limited menu during tulip time was a big disappointment as we went there specifically to try the loaded margarita and even though there was almost no one else there they couldn't take time to load it OR to make an interesting drink from the drink list. It's not the original, but it's still terrific. All craft beers, all the time, with a trough of peanuts literally on the side (wall). Cocktail menu, including mules, for those who for some reason can't deal with beer. Bartenders know their beer and are happy to guide you towards a successful craft brew choice. First we sat at a table and looked over the beer selection, no acknowledgment by any of the staff. We then moved to the bar where again we were completely ignored. The bar tender walked by a a few time to serve the 3 men at the end of the bar, but he didn't even look our way. We walked out with out any service. I do not recommend this establishment. read more

We went here to try the bloody mary's and they were fantastic. I am a beer drinker and was a little disappointed when I found out that don't carry "regular" beer. I'm not one to try the local craft beers etc. However I was pleasantly surprised to find out you can have a sample of anything you want to try before you order a full glass. I ended up finding several different beers that I loved. We were also lucky enough to meet the owner and he explained why they don't carry the ordinary beers. He trys really hard to only carry small brewerys that are working class people just like him. I'm a big believer in buying local whenever I can so I really respected this. He was so friendly as was everyone we chatted with. We will definitely go back here the next time we are in Pella. Stop on for a bloody mary or glass of beer. You won't be disappointed read more

However, the mystery beer was quite awful. No wonder it's called a mystery beer. It's a mystery why they would serve that too their loyal patrons. That beer must have been sitting in the keg for months! I guess it's a $2 gamble I am not willing to take. If you have a peanut allergy or prefer to set at a table that does not look like it's been littered like the ground of the stands of a professional baseball game, the pub is not for you. The food is just ok. We got the fried platter with a medium pizza. Pizza is not bad. Great pub in a tiny little town in Iowa. On a road trip during the summer of 2016 my wife and I stopped in here after a day of sight seeing to relax and have a cold local brew. The place was nearly empty on a Friday afternoon. The bartender was super friendly and kept the peanuts coming. We asked the bartender for the most Iowan beer they had and naturally, it was a corn beer. I was mighty skeptical, but it was very nice and didn't taste like corn! After 20 years here, this is the best thing that's ever happened to downtown Pella! This is a one-stop shop for all your craft beer, cider, mule, and Bloody Mary needs. Not a club. The perfect atmosphere for sophisticated drinks with friends. Great for small groups, but they do have a medium sized back room that can accommodate 15 or so. Their beer menu is always changing with fresh new breweries and options each week. I love all the ciders, and would recommend Strawberry or Pear if they have it on tap. One of my favorite things--Beer School! They usually have at least one per month. They bring in a brewery for free tastings, a presentation about their brewery/story, and free giveaways. Then, you get that brewery 1/2 off the rest of the month. What a deal! You can also order in anywhere that delivers in Pella to eat while you drink! I recommend George's Pizza across the street. They've really done well here on the square, and Pella is lucky to have a nightlife option like this. Always someone checking ID's inside the door. Amazingly Pella has never had a brew pub and this one is a great start. The location and decor is great and the high end high flavor american craft-brews are well represented here. Actually, maybe a little too much. I found very few lighter sessions type brews available and the fact that there is a liquor license in place but they lack the basic fixin's for those non hop heads is surprising. I met the owner on my first visit and he for sure has the pump and passion and I'm sure he'll step back and see that he needs to dedicate some taps to some german or german style wheats and ale's. May be forthcoming? Overall, a damn good job, and within 30 miles of Pella my hands down favorite beer Nirvana right now. read more
