Took 4 tries to get an appointment. He took my AC back to his shop to service and the next day called to tell me it wasn't serviceable because the wiring was connected in such a way that the insides couldn't be removed for cleaning. Eric ended up installing a new AC (slide-out version) in less than 2 hours. I was surprised because his phone must have rung over a dozen times with other customers requesting service. No wonder it took 4 tries to get an appointment. read more

Unreliable, terrible service, no follow-up received re: status of A/C replacement. It has been a month of numerous phone calls to have my A/C unit replaced - and I'm still waiting!!!!! My advice, expect frustration and exasperation if you choose to deal with Eric and this company. read more

Highly recommend Cool Zone for your window air conditioning needs. They have been around for a long time and are very knowledgeable and experienced in not only replacing your window AC but also servicing, repairing and maintaining existing units. Eric has cleaned numerous units for us and they are just like NEW when he returns them. Great value, Old Skool Style!! read more

We had Eric from Cool-Zone come and pickup our window air conditioner. He was very friendly, professional and tidy! I would highly recommend Eric if you have any air conditioning work to be done! Dominic read more

We needed to replace 2 window A/C units in our condo recently. After an extremely negative experience with another company, and through a series of phone calls we were referred to Cool Zone. In short order, we made an appointment with Eric, the owner. He came at the appointed time, brought all his necessary tools on 2 dollies, including the new A/Cs, and installed both A/Cs in under an hour. He was professional, courteous, and efficient. He showed us how to remove the filter, explained some features of the A/C display, and turned on each unit to ensure all was in working order. When he left, we had no debris or anything that would have indicated he had been here. We are extremely satisfied with his services and would highly recommend him for your A/C needs. read more

I've used Cool Zone a number of times, and Eric is always courteous. helpful, and reliable. Would highly recommend.

Great price for efficient work. Eric is busy. I think his phone rang a dozen times during the appointment while he was on the ladder. Great work done efficiently at the best price of all quotes i got. Used him twice now. AC knocked out today and office was a sauna. He came same day. read more

I was a little hesitant at first to go through this company, since they have a 3.5 star average here on yelp. However, I soon realized HOW DIFFICULT IT IS TO FIND A LEGITIMATE COMPANY TO INSTALL A WINDOW A/C. Yes, all caps for emphasis on how difficult it was. Yes, there are random "handymen" on craigslist that advertise being able to install window air conditioners, but the idea of letting some random guy off of Craigslist into my home is not all that appealing to me. We had bought a window a/c from Lowe's, and all we needed was someone to install the darn thing. I believe Cool Zone sells air conditioner units; however, they were also happy to install the one that we had already bought from Lowe's. I had originally wanted to go through another contractor that had installed another window a/c in my home last month, but they were damn near impossible to get in touch with and kept blowing me off. I called other a/c installation companies that I found from researching on yelp/google, and they all said they don't do window a/c installations--only the "bigger" jobs like central a/c and split a/c. Finally, I came across Coolzone and gave them a call. They answered on the first try (yay for not having to leave voicemails and play phone tag for once). I called on a Wednesday and was able to get an appointment for that Friday! Two days later! I was very impressed that we were able to get an appointment time so quickly. They didn't need to come to do an estimate or measure anything. I just told them the style of the window (slides sideways--no jalousies or anything blocking it) and 6,000 BTU. They said they would come become 10 AM and 2 PM, and they showed up right at 11 AM with all of the supplies they needed (including the big piece of plywood to close off the rest of the window). They installed the window a/c in about an hour or so for $200. I wasn't home at the time they did the install (another family member was home), but I was told the workers who came were very professional. I would definitely go through this company again if I had another A/C to install. read more

My 4 year old window AC unit started leaking water into my living room. I called the company that I had purchased the unit from who told me it just needed to be cleaned/serviced, but they no longer made service calls to my part of the island. They recommended I call Eric at the Cool Zone. I contacted Eric, he came out and removed the unit, kept it overnight for cleaning/servicing, and returned it the next day. It's been working like new ever since. I found it easier to contact someone at the Cool Zone if you call in the late afternoon/early evening. read more

I now know why Sears is going out of business. I bought a window unit, paid for installation and the first night a stream of water was falling from the back of the unit. I paid to have it uninstalled and exchanged it for another and paid to have the new one installed. This time? The water not only flowed like a stream from the unit, It actually came out of the sides and I have no idea how...but out of the top of the unit. Not kidding...seriously...for real? I live next door to my HOA president who the day I moved in here, informed me window ac units were not allowed. So finally I went to Yelp and found Eric. I called like 10:30 on a Monday night expecting to leave a message...but he answered! Yikes. So along with a lot of apologizing for the late call (who answers their business phone so late?) we talked about my desire for a unit that doesn't shoot water out onto the wood exterior of my condo. We talked about what I wanted, what he thought I may need and where I lived (he actually was familiar with the building...but not the HOA president) and said yes, he would be there Friday to install for me. I was so impressed when he showed up for an install with the units (yes, two) came upstairs and decided on the spot, I could use a smaller unit (just one!) and would be back to do the install next week. What? Honest, professional, personable, with high integrity (coulda taken me for more than twice what I ended up paying for by putting in more AC (I mean, is there even such a thing as too much AC??!!) than I needed). Highly recommend them. Oh, and Sears? Yeah, no. Sorry, not sorry. read more

Eric was efficient & prompt. Bought my Friedrich window ac from him 2 years ago. He delivered & installed quickly. Fast forward to this week & AC was not working. Panel display started blinking & beeping, no air. I was unable to turn it off & had to disconnect the plug. Called Eric & he came within a few days, took my ac to his shop, and returned/re-installed it the next day. Turned out to be the circuit board needed replacing. He also cleaned & serviced the unit. Price to pick up/return & the work was reasonable. He also diagnosed a problem with my electrical outlet and advised me not to use that outlet until a electrician looks at it. Electrician coming today. read more

Outstanding service. Fast, overnight. Courteous, neat, and efficient. Came on time, when scheduled, called first.

Eric is great!! Very helpful! Very good work. Very nice guy. I highly recommend them if u have ac needs.

Today I had a great surprise as Eric himself showed up to do my install ! I have never met him before as my former two installations were by his employees. Once again the installation was quick, expertly done and I love my new Friedrich that I went with as it very highly rated with a great warranty also. I had asked Eric if they could toss my old AC unit and they said no problem. Also the work done was not only quick but there was no mess left either as they pack up all their rubbish and take it with them! Eric was great as he answered all my questions that I had regarding AC units and maintenance all while he was doing the install. I swear he could probably do an install blindfolded as he is just so adept at it. After the install he went over the controls and made sure I understood all the functions and also pointed out the instruction booklet should I forget what he just explained to me. He also told me to keep my old remote because it would serve as a great backup to my new one. He is very knowledgeable. Great value I feel and he came within the timeframe window he had given me. Again, great service, great product, expert installation and overall a great value I feel. Thanks Eric and your crew for making my AC needs easy to obtain, for the great advice and instructions regarding the maintenance and importance of maintenance of my new Friedrich 8000 BTU unit. It cools my room just as fast as my last 9800 BTU unit did if not better! Oh and it's got a killer remote too! I cannot sing enough praises about Cool Zone and Eric and his crew. These guys simply rock! Aloha and Mahalo ! read more

If you're looking for someone to install a room a/c like the ones you can install through the window or through the wall, Cool Zone is the company to call. Eric the owner was very professional over the phone and very approachable in person. What won me over was that he was very thorough when I asked questions and was very up front with the prices. When they showed up to install the a/c they arrived on time and did a very clean job. The first a/c that they opened from the box when they arrived was slightly damaged due to shipping (was not their fault) so they hook me up with a new one a few days later with no extra payment. Eric and his assistant, Ryan I think was very approachable and even recommended to mention the coupon from the phone book to get an extra couple dollars off the total price. I'm really loving the Friedrich chill model 8000 BTU! Thanks to Eric and his crew! Give these guys a call! read more

Cool Zone - Friedrich Chill 8000 BTU - Heating & Air Conditioning/HVAC Near Me - Honolulu, Hawaii

Eric is awesome. I gave him a call and he knew exactly which air conditioner would fit in my condo bedroom. He even brought it with him and installed everything perfectly and very quickly. There was no effort at all on my end. He even brought cloth tarps with him to lay on the floor to make sure he wouldn't get the carpet dirty. I would definitely recommend Eric to anyone looking for a/c installation. read more

If you need an AC company recommendation I highly recommend Cool Zone Inc. Today it's hard to find excellent quality workers who do the job right the first time and actually know what they are doing. Look no further, you will find excellent quality work with this company. Eric, thank you so much for your professionalism. You did an excellent job cleaning my AC unit and reinstalling it. I appreciate the quick turnaround. Keep up your work ethic, that's what Hawaii needs! Thank you again :) Aloha Crystal Crosspointe read more

Eric is a real pro and very efficient. Called him this morning to complain that my AC unit was making strange sounds. He said he will be coming in the afternoon. He showed up on time and even brought a "loaner", it was better than my original one he gave me a good price and installed it under fifteen minutes. Have been using Cool Zone for about six years, always a pro"Da Best" much Aloha! read more

Eric did a wonderful job of installing my new window unit yesterday. I called him on Friday and told him it was broken. Due to a renovation project in my building, we are supposed to keep our windows closed, so it was very uncomfortable in my apartment. He was able to work the installation in on the following Monday, which was awesome. I agree with the other review were's is not great about answering the phone and his voicemail is full. If you need someone who will always be available, this is probably not the company for you. He works from early in the morning until late at night installing and servicing air-conditioning units; he's a busy guy. Also, I got an estimate from another company on the same job - install the exact same new a/c unit and haul away my old one - and Eric's price was about $80 less expensive. I'm very happy with everything and glad I found Eric! read more

After having terrible experiences dealing with large retail outlets offering air conditioning sales and service, I have found my happy zone with Eric and Cool Zone. From product quality and prices, to delivery, installation, repair and maintenance he can't be beat. Quick, courteous, personalized service sets Eric and Cool Zone apart from his competitors. If you want a great product and excellent prices, call him today. read more

Eric is cool and does a excellent job installing my 2-12000 btu friedrick Air cons in my apartment. I had the 7000 btu panasonic and they were too small to handle. So I got the bigger motor which cools down the rooms fast. Installation is the hard part but Eric got it down fast and knows his stuff. Cleaned my aircond too which was dirty with mold and oil. He is always busy and helpful and I would always call him. read more

I was referred to him through another company specializing in split ACs, so I thought he'd be super friendly. Unfortunately, his tone implied it was an inconvenience just talking to me. I wanted an estimate on replacing two window units, letting him know I purchased similar ACs to what was there now. He immediately insinuated they were probably the wrong kind of ac. Then said he was busy and would call me back... Then never called...Owner gets one star for answering the phone. read more

This guy, apparently the owner, was a jerk on the phone! I'm appalled, I simply asked for a quote, and asked if it was possible to just order and install the frame, at which point he started yelling and scolding me that if I have AC issues, I need to get a new unit!! Really? You're going to yell at me like a little kid, when I'm simply asking a civilized question? I give 1 star because he answered the phone. Tried calling several times the day before, the answering machine was full. I'm amazed that this company is still in business, absolutely no aloha. read more

I was having trouble finding a business that would install a window AC into my jalousies. Actually I was having trouble finding someone that would install window ACs in general. I'm glad I got a hold of Cool Zone. I also needed a "dripless" AC for my apartment and the Friedrich 12,000 BTU model that I got from them does the job. I rarely see any water dripping from the unit! I wasn't home to witness the install, but when I came home it was nicely installed. They had to make some modifications by cutting some pieces of wood, so I was glad that I didn't try to install this myself. Overall great job and I'm loving the new air conditioner! Thanks Cool Zone and keep up the good work! read more

Fixed our aircon in Waikiki a few years ago. Can't remember anything negative. Now they are affiliated with Friedrich the aircon maker.

I took a chance based on a previous reviewer's experience and called this business to see if they could install a window AC unit in my daughter's bedroom. We had been waiting almost two months for another company contracted by Lowe's to get their stuff together and install the AC unit and we got tired of waiting. I'm really glad I called Cool Zone because they sent someone out within a day or two and did a fantastic job. Chris and his assistant were very professional and courteous. They took their shoes off before coming inside and they cleaned up after they were done with the job. Chris is very meticulous with his work and he makes sure the job is done right. He was extremely helpful and knowledgable. We would totally use this company again. read more

BEST SERVICE and WORKMANSHIP!! My clients had purchased two AC unit from Eric at Cool Zone which needed a custom installation due to the buildings regulations. The install was meticulous but one of the units was not performing correctly and dripping water, Eric said they'll fix the problem or replace the unit. After trying several remedies in which he always followed up the next day to see if everything was ok, Eric decided true to his word replaced the unit with another brand new one. I deal with many contractors and Eric and Cool Zone have my highest recommendation for their integrity, professionalism and quality of workmanship. read more

#1 Company answered the phone on my first attempt. Other companies never called me back. I was able to get an estimate over phone after providing my details (measurements and # of units). #2 The installers were knowledgeable and kept me informed of what they have to do to complete the job. #3 Friendly. Happy customer of 4 newly installed wall ac units. read more

I had a problem with my Friedrich wall air conditioner which started making an excessive amount of noise. I contacted another company who quoted me a lot of money to come out to repair. I then contacted Eric at Cool Zone whose quote was a lot less than the other company. He came out the same day to picked up the unit and brought it back repaired the next day, just as he promised. I would definitely call him again for future air conditioning issues. read more

OMG Eric needs to train the rest of the industry, he was not only friendly and communicative, he left no mess. He serviced my existing Frederich removing it, covering the hole, returned it on time the next day and in the home was less than 10 minuates with removal and return. The air smells great, clean without a disenfenctant smell. The unit runs as if brand new. Not cheap, but upfront and fair price. I bet my power bills will go down and pay for itself in a few of the upcoming summer months. Get him in for your ac before the heat hits and he gets too busy. Very professional, efficient and friendly. I inspected and I bet he added at least 2 years of life to the unit, all corrosion and mold gone and it is 3 years old now. Just awesome! When I contact him again, I will now buy direct from him. read more

Professional job that looks great and was done on-time and at the budgeted price! Happy with the service and professionalism.

Beware!!! Have used Eric in the past with great service - BUT, no more. He took my two window air conditioners out of my apartment on 5/11/18 and I haven't heard from him since!!! I have THREE phone numbers none of which he answers. Have left messages when mailbox not full BUT have never received a return call!!! Went by his shop - closed up! - no note about emergency. There was mail in the mailbox but no other sign of life. Reported him to Better Business Bureau and police. Now considering a suit in small claims court. Had to go buy new ACs from a competitor for $2400. This guy has fallen off the deep end. STAY AWAY FROM USING HIM. read more

I purchased a Friedrich 7,800 BTU window unit on 7/5/14 which i've used in the bedroom at night. It isn't cooling as well and it is loud. Cannot reach Eric Holzman, President of the company at any of his phone numbers. The mailboxes continue to be full. Tried to purchase a Sears Protection agreement because they'd fix it, but Sears doesn't fix/cover Friedrich. I purchased another Friedrich A/C for my study from American Air Conditioning on Ala Kawa St. & at least they're reachable by phone & I may have them fix the other unit. I don't know if Eric is on vacation, ill, dead or what, but the mailbox should be cleared of calls. read more

Did not show! Was given a 3 hour window (11:00 - 2:00) and as I was returning to work after 2:00 Eric called to jovially say he would arrive in 45 to 60 minutes. Would NOT recommend this business as I believe my experience reflects the attitude of the business - no concern for the customer's time!! read more

Yeah, called this place to see if they could do the work that I was looking for. The guy that answered the phone (I'm assuming the owner) was very rude and had no sense of customer service. Eric, owner was extremely informative and helpful. He answered on a Saturday evening and responded to my my questions. He assured me our problem would be taken care of first thing Monday. Workers came to take our AC to their shop. Normally his workers re-install the AC, but due to our situation, Eric personally installed the AC back and explained to our tenants the problem and what he did to clean it. He also gave me a thorough explanation of what he did and what he found from cleaning our AC. I recommend Cool Zone to anyone. Thank you, Eric! read more

Called Cool Zone to get a quote for installing a window ac in a bedroom because I had dealt with Affordable Home AC previously and they were a little expensive and overly aggressive on their collection of payment if not paid at the time of service (but their install and service were fine). Talked to someone at Cool Zone on the phone and was not impressed with their tone of voice (not rude but not enthusiastic or friendly either) and got a decent quote on a Friedrich window air conditioner that they recommended. Set up a date and time (they said it would be difficult to pin point an exact time but it would be between 10 and 12) and they showed up at 10:15 am. Install was quick, professional, and clean. The Friedrich air conditioner was extremely quiet. Eric from Cool Zone was friendly, informative, and very professional. His helper was not Mr Personality but seemed to know what he was doing. I would recommend them and would definitely use them again. read more
