I am taking the time to write this for what was CLEARLY a one star experience, however, I want to…read morediscuss the second star first. Some months ago I was looking for a particular cosmetic item. I wandered into Neiman Marcus and was greeted by staff at the front of the store. They didn't have what I wanted but they were charming and friendly all the same, and although I didn't really go into Neiman enough to review then, I want to give credit where it is due. This weekend, however, I was on a mission. And that mission was shoes. (Granted, it's often my mission, I even have a blog about shoes.) I was not my finest. It is THE MALL. So I shunned my Feragamos for some comfy Rockports (if you want to wear those stilettos you love so much in old age, you don't want to wear them ALL THE TIME. Your feet with thank me) and did a little couture-a-thon. I love the Natick Collection, on whole, because you can visit all of these high end shops and departments stores without looking and acting like a snob and still receive genuine, warm customer service. Except, apparently, at Neiman Marcus. The "gentleman" in the shoe department did not acknowledge my presence, despite the fact that I was lingering and checking out shoes for a while. I didn't expect attention right away, as he was catering to another woman when I walked over, but when another woman appeared some time after me, in a perfectly pressed shirt and Tory Burch flats he IMMEDIATELY flitted over to her and asked if she needed any help, abandoning the first woman. Um. HELLO. I'm right here. It was a very "Pretty Woman" moment. I looked over to him and the look he shot back at me felt like disdain. This, of course, was hysterical. I really hope this guy makes commission, because I spend more on shoes than some people spend on cars and houses. I headed over to men's where my shopping companion was having a much friendlier experience and told him the story. For shame, Neiman Marcus, for shame. Additionally, the selection was very sparse. Only a few pair from any given designer, and, in many cases, not the most recent offerings from that designer. Did I mention my obsession with shoes yet? Anyway, I won't be back. Ever. PS Dear Shoe Guy: You sell shoes. Get off your high horse. Also, you are WAY too old for that hair. (In other news, I CLEANED UP at Nordstrom.)

Neiman Marcus at the Natick Mall is a exceptional location. We do not have a Neiman Marcus outside…read moreof the Natick Mall and Boston for the entire state of Massachusetts. For this reason, it is a long drive to get to Natick and shop there. It was well worth it, we were warmly greeted by a very attentive Victoria in the fragrances section. We went in knowing exactly what we wanted although she insisted that we keep a open mind and try the scent of other *creed* scents. We tried them, and were pleasantly surprised as to the variety. Victoria was excellent, engaging, and courteous. Customer service is difficult, Neiman Marcus clearly has the training down as i did observe all other representatives performing the same routine with lots of attention and quality. Previous reviews and lower star reviews have a common theme, and it is that the person feels as if net-worth dictates treatment. That the representative or the staff must cater to your arrogance level. "I have this, i spend this, therefore you should treat me better than anyone else" It's absurd and toxic to the community.

I walked towards the back and was trying to find a certain pair of pants and the younger employee was too busy writing something down and never once looked up and acknowledged my existence even though I was walking right by. I continued to wander around the store attempting to find the right set of pants but now the younger employee had disappeared in the back. The older employee near the front was still with a customer and multiple times I walked right by him but he never once acknowledged me or asked if I needed assistance, which I did. I found a pair of pants myself, let myself into the fitting room because no one else was around that seemed helpful or who cared. While in the fitting room another employee spoke to my wife outside and when I exited he spoke with me and was helpful. He helped me pay for the pants and was the only one who talked to us the 20-25 minutes we were in the store. I did like the selection of suits and would contemplate buying one from them but possibly at another location because 2 of the 3 employees didn't seem to care I was in the store ( with one other customer shopping at the time). To the one employee, thank you for your help. Other than that, I had a very disappointing visit.

There are few times when you're truly impressed with a retail shop, especially with so much…read morecompetition out there, but this Brooks Brothers location is the exception. From the impressive aesthetic visuals as you enter the store, to their vast inventory, to the exemplary customer service, this store delivers on multiple levels, and beckons you to return. The atmosphere created in this store is inviting, and urges you to stay and browse. They have comfortable leather chairs, and a TV, and the store reflects the imagine of the brand quite well. Because of the layout and the product placement, you can't help but linger as you check out all they have to offer. The store is organized and laid out quite nicely, and the inventory they stock is truly impressive. It's frustrating when the majority of items you want or are interested in seeing have to be special ordered. This is not the case here. They seem to make an effort to stock a vast majority of items just for that reason. The staff is professional, knowledgable and courteous from management down through the ranks. It is clear they take tremendous pride in their customer service, and it shows! They not only are friendly and knowledgable, but they also dress the part, and take pride in their appearances, which is huge to me. They're selling an image, and they know it. The staff here also does quite well at balancing being helpful without stepping over the line into being pushy and/or smothering. You feel at ease in this store. Overall, a great place to shop, and a wonderful store to browse if you're not familiar with the brand and want some gift ideas for others, or even for yourself!

So…read morefar we went to the store three times and each time none of the sales rep greeted us or asked us if we need any help. The way they talked to us lacked respect and made us feel belittled. Their attitude reminds me of walking into some luxury car dealership with casual clothing and no one even bother to say hi or smile to you. I guess the store can keep the merchandise and we'll keep our money. I'll continue to buy Brooks Brothers but I'll probably buy it online to avoid the unpleasant experience and a ruined Saturday afternoon.
