Burgers and shakes delicious; however I do not like eating in car--they need an eat- in area for winter and inclement weather.

I drove the 20 minutes here to try the food after reading a number of glowing reviews - 4.6 Yelp…read morerating over 77 reviews! It is a small place with less than a dozens tables, and a fairly broad menu. It has been operating for about 10 years now. I was particularly interested in the California Burrito with Steak and the tacos with shredded beef, the Birria tacos, the Guadalajara Dog, and the street corn. We tried them all! The California Burrito is an interesting version - filled with pickled jalapeños, lettuce, tomato, cilantro, onion, avocado, Mexican cheese, sour cream, your choice of protein, and topped with Chili Con Queso once filled. The menu description does not mention FFs which is very much traditional. In fact, the replacement of rice and beans with crispy FFs was what made the California Burrito unique! This is a large burrito, shorter and thicker than the vast majority you'll see. The filling I chose was carne asada and the burrito was topped with what the menu termed "chili con queso". The result was a different looking burrito, but an excellent burrito - and no, I couldn't finish it. The Birria Tacos are only available of Fridays. You get four tacos, sliced radish, Lime wedges, and the house red and green hot sauces. These tacos were well filled with meat and cheese, but there was no consommé, which is very traditional, also no chopped white onion or cilantro - disappointing, would not order again! The street tacos with shredded beef were good, not great - well filled, and well topped with chopped white onion and cilantro. I went all the way which added lettuce, tomato, and Mexican white crumbling cheese, either cotija or queso fresco. Frankly I did not find that the all the way approach worked for me! 3 tacos were $8.99, and all the way added $1.99. These are a bit pricey, most Tex-Mex spots in Winston serve up 4 for just under $13! I wanted to try the Guadalajara Dog more out of curiosity than anything else - I have been in Guadalajara a number of times and experienced some interesting food items, such as Birria (the stew), Pozole, Carne En Su Jugo, BBQ Young Goat, and the Guadalajara Hot Dog ( a wildly popular street food)! The weiner is wrapped in bacon and then deep fried, causing the skin to develop rips. Once in the bun, it is sauced and topped with fresh avocado, chopped onion, ancestry you can add more. This was a good version, but not an item I order often. The street corn consisted of corn kernels, cheese, hot sauce, lime, and a Mayo based sauce. This is a busy item, and I found I prefer the simpler, customary corn on the cob with crumpled cheese. This is an interesting place, one that has a different take on Tax-Mex dishes. Those takes and moves away from tradition are not something for me.

The restaurant is open and bright with tall windows along the front and sides. A very nice change from the cloned box chain restaurant buildings these days. They have a drive thru and dine in with lots of booths surrounding the perimeter of the inside and some tables in the center. They also have a small outdoor seating area. It's not covered though so it will be a seasonal option. The inside has a large counter that looks like it could be a bar area but it was empty and looked unfinished. We ordered at the counter where a friendly cashier helped us decide on what sauces to choose. Since it was our first time here we wanted to try a variety of items. I ordered three sliders and my husband got a tender combo. Our food came out really quickly and it was super hot. The fries were seasoned well too. No one likes unseasoned fries. One of the first things we noticed was how small the tenders were. I would have expected a larger tender for the price honestly. The flavor was delicious and we loved the different sauces they had. The spicy peach sauce was one of my favorites as well as the honey mustard. The pretzel bites we got as a side were ok. I'd probably skip them next time though. Overall we had a great experience at Ray Rays. I'd go there again for sure. Next time I'll have to try one of their sandwiches or bowls I think.

I ordered the smokehouse brisket and curly fries, simply enough. Food was ready within minutes and the workers were pleasant enough. The sandwich didn't seem like it was made by a blind person on stilts like a lot of fast food now. The brisket was juicy and had a great taste, sauce was good and had a fair amount onions that were still decently crispy. Biggest complaint is the meat to bun ration was off, and I wish there was more sauce. The fries are a classic, well seasoned and hot. I probably would come back here in a pinch for some brisket and would be open to trying some of their other options.

I'm not a regular at Arby's but I had to try the new Wagyu burger. I love trying new food items…read more I ordered the combo and the rest of this review will be dedicated to the hamburger. Fries were fresh and hot. The burgers came out awfully fast. I was concerned about the freshness at that point. And my concerns were founded. The burger came loaded with cheese, tomato, onion and pickles. The toppings were plentiful. When I opened the burger and lifted the bun, the burger patty was dry looking. When a burger comes off the grill or fryer fresh, it glistens with fat and juices. Not this. It was dry as a bone. My first bite told it all. It WAS dry and I'd bet $100 it wasn't made fresh but had been sitting around a while. Very disappointing. The patty itself really didn't have any distinctive flavor. It was rather bland and boring. With all the hype surrounding this special kind of beef, I expected more. I finished the burger and it will be the last one I order from Arby's. For $11+ for this combo, you expect to be WOWED, at least I did. If all Wagyu is like this, it certainly isn't worth the cost. Give me 80/20 angus any day.

This is not an inexpensive sandwich, I paid $8.88 for it! This sandwich just did not come together for me - a plus here and there, but not enough to elevate this item. While the crispy onion pieces added some texture and taste, the pieces often fell out of the burger. The lettuce was thinly shredded and quickly became soggy and a distraction. There was too much raw onion, again hard to keep in the sandwich, flavor was strong. The sauce was a simple combination of ketchup with a lesser amount of mustard. It really didn't bring much to the overall taste. Overall, this was a fail, and a big one, I think. The Whopper is even more ahead of what is on McDonald's menu now!

SPECIAL GRINCH MEAL EDITION…read more Dinner idea because, well, the Grinch Meal. Arrived about 6:150m and the drive through line was to the parking lot entrance already. Wife had an idea for her to run in and get the meals instead. Bad idea. A friend of ours was in line inside for 20 minutes and hadn't had a chance to order yet. She told my wife we were better off in the drive through line. So I circled around, picked her up and got back in line. 20 minutes later we were able to order our Grinch Meals. We got served very soon after that. PROPS TO THE MCDONALDS STAFF The person taking orders and taking payment were as nice as could be. In a very hectic and chaotic dinner rush, they maintained their composure and sense of honor. They kept laughing how crazy it was for the Grinch Meal. THE MEAL We both got the 10-piece nuggets (Big Mac is also an option) and diet cokes. Order was fresh , hot and as ordered. Came with Grinch salt (pickle flavor) and a sealed plastic bag with mystery socks. The nuggets and fries were as expected, consistent. I tried the Buffalo Ranch sauce which was very good. The pickle salt is . Delicious sprinkled in both the nuggets and fries. I heard of people using the salt on microwave popcorn with delicious success. So if you have extra packets, save it! We each got different socks which were passed to our daughter. VERDICT ALL IN ALL it was a little adventure going through the entire process. From the drive through to the finished meal, it was a small thing we could share as a family and have a good laugh about it down the road. The socks and salt made it worth it. I'd call before going to make sure they still have the Grinch Meals if that's why you are going. It seems to be very popular.
