I felt like I was at my grandmother's house for Sunday dinner. The Ox tails, fried ribs, mac n cheese, greens and yams were my first choice and when I tell you the food melted in my mouth. I went back for my second helping and got me some crab legs, gumbo and more greens. The music and energy was on point. After we left My husband was calling everyone he could think of to brag about his experience. 4 stars for sure. We will be back.

The only downside was the wait. There were long lines to get to many of the dishes, and having to wait for certain items to be refilled took away from the experience. Since this is a timed dining experience, spending part of that time waiting for food was a bit disappointing. At around $80 per person, I think the overall operation could be a little more refined and better stocked throughout the service. That said, the quality of the food definitely delivered, and despite the minor frustrations, it was a solid dining experience that I'd recommend.

A warm, welcoming spot with flavorful comfort food that keeps you coming back…read more Finally made it back to Sacramento for a post-op visit and had to stop here. I hadn't been since last summer and was happy to return. Parking can be a bit hectic, but once you're inside, the atmosphere makes up for it. It's a family-owned spot, and you can feel it right away -- everyone is kind, welcoming, and takes the time to check in on you. We came for breakfast, but they also offer lunch and barbecue options, so there's plenty to choose from depending on when you go. They've also expanded and now have a location in Elk Grove. I ordered the French toast plate, which came with thick-cut slices of bread, eggs, and bacon. The French toast was soft on the inside with a nice golden finish, full of flavor without being overly sweet. The eggs were well seasoned, and the bacon was cooked just right. BB ordered the cheeseburger with fries and a side of grits. The burger was juicy with grilled onions and melted cheese, and the fries had that crispy, beer-battered texture. Everything came out hot and satisfying. Overall, a great spot for comfort food with genuinely friendly service. Definitely planning to come back -- especially for the biscuits and gravy next time.

I ordered the country fried chicken smothered with gravy to go. For someone who grew up in Texas I was somewhat hesitant to try it but it did not disappoint.. Ambiance of the restaurant looked like it was right out of a small town in the south Great family owned place. Thank you Monica for the recommendation!!
