Also the different textures are appealing as well - soft sweet bread converging with crunchy walnuts. It is so good! Upper Crust Bakery is my "go to" bakery when I am hosting a party that has associated dessert. My favorite cakes at Upper Crust is the Chocolate Italian Cream and the Gato Marissa cakes. They also have an assortment of cookies, pastries, muffins and other sweet treats. It is not unusual to find a line to get to your heavenly pastries and coffee, however, the line goes rather quickly. Many customers are at the bakery only for pickup...revolving pickup counter. Others linger in the bakery enjoying their bakery treats. They also serve soup, sandwiches and quiche as well. Generally, everything I have purchased here has been delicious. Cool environment...

I had just read on Reddit a couple days prior that this was recommended as an alternative to another Austin bakery. When I walked in I was surprised to find many older individuals sitting and chatting, so I thought there might be some kind of event. But it's probably just the demographics of the neighborhood! Based on the decor I can tell they're not trying to be a "trendy" bakery and remain true to their identity as a neighborhood business. They still had a good number of pastries available but I did get the last strawberry danish of the day (pictured). I also got the almond croissant. Their pre-made bread loaves all looked appetizing as well. I thought both pastries had good texture but could have used more filling/flavoring.

I been wanting to try this bakery but the lines at the HMart location are always super long. I popped by yesterday to try their treats. Tous Les Jours is a bakery that combines French pastry techniques and Asian flavor profiles. Visually the pastries look French and draw you in as they are aesthetically beautiful. However, Asian pastries tend to be less sweet, which was the case with Tous Les Jours. The bakery had a number of sweet treats...croissants (sweet and savory), cakes, bread, to name a few. When I walked in the fresh baked pastries and bread smells filled your nostrils with a refreshing aroma. There is a small space inside for seating. There are tables and chairs outside, not fully setup, so I am not sure they were associated with Tous Les Jours. I purchased a croissant with a sausage inside. The croissant was buttery yet not too sweet. It was very enjoyable to eat. Look forward to trying other items...

OMG...their desserts are enough to cause a sane person some degree of cognitive dissonance! Decisions, decisions, decisions, etc. During my visit, I observed a wide variety of baked goods; specifically, the chocolate chip and salty oat cookies are particularly popular. Although I typically prefer cookies with nuts, I purchased several sugar cookies in unique shapes and colors for the hubs, who is the resident "cookie monster". I also selected a piece of key lime pie for myself, following my dessert ritual of consuming it over three days. Quack's serves as a neighborhood gathering spot, with a relaxed atmosphere that attracts regular customers, students, and groups of friends. The bakery was inviting, and embodies the qualities expected from a local neighborhood bakery. While I went to the bakery just to look around, I got sucked in their bakery vortex...in a very good way.

It's lighter, softer, and more delicate. We also tried the tarts, including ube and matcha, and they were very delicious as well. Overall, it's a great spot if you enjoy lighter, fluffy desserts and want to try something a little different.

I believe this may be a smaller Uncle Tetsu and might not have every item but they have most things. They had samples available and for my first visit, I was able to get a good impression of select items! I had the opportunity to sample a piece of their cheesecake biscotti and matcha cheesecake. I asked for a recommendation as a first time and was told I have to try the original to start. Service seemed friendly but felt a little rushed for me to hurry up. Cheesecake Biscotti - from my small slice, I was impressed. It's an airy cookie that's baked to a crispy finish. The exterior is crispy but the inside is fluffy, it's a fun texture that simply feels remarkable. Plus the overall cheesecake flavor is a delightful sweetness. Matcha Cheesecake - I was impressed with the softness. The small sample was so light yet ready to fall from the toothpick at any moment. It was just so delicate. Matcha was present though it's hard to say how strong from a quick sample so I'll reserve on that. Original Cheesecake - now for the real experience, it's no exaggeration to say that this quite literally melts in your mouth. It's almost like the cake simply dissolves, leaving a cheesecake flavor behind. Super fluffy, light, and airy, the cheesecake is delicate and when you eat it, your taste buds light up as if a spotlight is emphasizing the presentation. Fantastic end to any meal as well, especially because it's not heavy at all.
