The burgers, hot dogs, and fried chicken sandwich are very good, and the pricing is reasonable - both the cheeseburger and the chicken sandwich go for $4.99, and the hot dog for $2.99! I really like the Crispy Chicken sandwich here as well as their cheeseburgers. I only get the hot dog with slaw rather than onions because they carry the chopped onions over from the previous day and they are often strong and bitter. Good fast food reasonably priced. read more

The prices are very reasonable and it's really really good for the price!! We love it and wish that they would come to OHIO!!! The service over the years has never been good unfortunately. They always mess up our order and they are never pleasant. On our recent visit all five of us asked for Cajun fries but only one order was Cajun. They were very annoyed and rushed us through the ordering process. There is five in our family so it took awhile but I think with them trying to rush it is why our order is always wrong over all these years. The number of stars for cookout depends on the time of day. No, the quality doesn't vary based on the clock, but the context does. At dinner time, it's meh. Late at night, the stars go up, because they are one of the few places open to feed a weary traveler. You know those huge boxes of thin mediocre burger patties you get at big box stores, and people bring them to cook outs? Pretty sure that's where they get their name. But the burgers here taste strongly of liquid smoke. The slice of tomato is about as thick as one of the burger patties. The fries were both slightly burned but also limp, which is kind of impressive. Not tasty, but impressive. The milkshake is what bumps them to 4 stars. It was delicious. Thick and full of flavor. As far as this location goes, I've had varying experiences. Sometimes I'm able to get through the drive through with little to no delays, but on other occasions I've sat and waited for maybe about 7-8 mins with one car ahead of me. The quality of food in my experience has been pretty consistent and I don't have any negative comments on that front. Overall this is your average cookout, if you're familiar with the chain, and you won't be disappointed (unless you get stuck waiting). If you're not familiar with cookout, just imagine a fast food chain where you can get anything from quesadillas to burgers to wraps and everything in between. Came home and opened my big double burger cookout tray with sides (nuggets and fries.... proceeded to dip a nugget in honey mustard and just so happened to flip it over and there's a whole BUG/Roach whatever... it had wings! Fried hard into the nugget... so bet, I'll just take it back and give them the opportunity to correct it by refunding my money and giving a compensated meal I can use at another cookout (cause trust they weren't about to wash their utensils and sure enough they didn't). After sitting in the drive thru (wait time 8-10 mins) they tell me to come to the window I wait again for others (which is cool) I finally get to the window and explain and she takes the food, and offers a half-hearted apology. I can already feel his spirit was about to act a donkey so I just chill and wait (optimism) and he sends a message via the window servicer, that he can only refund and there's no Comp that could be provided, so I ask to speak with him directly. So now I gotta get out of character as I stood there for another 4-5 mins so I kindly tapped on the window and she tells me again "oh he's coming" nahhh we passed that now! It's super cheap unhealthy food served virtually 24/7, meaning it is the oasis of the drunk, the hungry, and the stoned. You don't go here for an artisanal salad made of kale and arrogance. You go here to shove burgers, chicken tenders, and milkshakes in your mouth like a pig. And that's cool. I highly recommend virtually any milkshake made here: all are ridiculously tasty and hand-spun. The best late night fast food in North Carolina. It was 12-midnight and I ordered the chicken tenders tray with a side of cajun fries and onion rings. I also had a Heath bar shake. They are famous for shakes. The total cost was $5.34 for all this food and the portion of chicken tenders could have served two. It is drive through take out only at the Cook Out. This cookout use to be one of the best not sure if management has changed but they are always out off thing such as cups for sauce so it's then not offered. It's unacceptable I have to eat my food missing my favorite thing bc someone forgot to put a supply order in or give a substitution. You hop in a car for a spontaneous trip with friends down to the local Cook-Out, you order through the drive through with your sun roof open and laughing from the bottom of your heart. You order the signature cook-out milk shake, at a surprisingly low price of just about $2.50, with so many selections of flavors it makes your eyeballs go wild. While you are at it you place an order of fries and onion rings as well, heck, might as well put in some hush puppies. I cannot emphasize enough, the fries at Cook-out is off the hook! You have to get them if you get nothing else, well I hope you'll at least try their milkshakes of course, because they are the best bang for your buck! I agree with other Yelpers, I am typically not a fan of chain eateries but this is an exception. A friend recommended Cook Out so I tried it on the way out of town. An impressive offering especially from a drive through only fast food place. I got the regular burger which was not overcooked, had fresh looking condiments and was a really good burger. I also ordered hushpuppies (never seen hushpuppies offered on a drive through burger menu) which were excellent!
