Always a hit when you're looking for a cheap quick meal! We use to go to the Cookout in Suffolk and got very use to the quick, unfriendly customer service. Food was never bad but they never let you finish with one order before rushing you... thankfully tonight the young man was patient and not rude! Cook outs normally run pretty efficiently and this one definitely was spot on. They have added new items to the menu in the last year since we have been gone from Virginia but I didn't take a lot of time to look because I knew what I wanted. ALWAYS.. a GRILLED BBQ CHICKEN sandwich. It comes with pickles but I'm not a fan on this so I get tomatoes. Cheese curds and onion rings plus a CHEERWINE !!! Man I have missed those!!! Just around 9$ for all of that!! Not to mention you can get any flavor of soda made into a float and there are over 30 flavors of milkshakes!! Cook Out never disappoints. I absolutely love their fast service, reasonable prices and friendly staff! My all time favorite item is the Cheddar Style Chicken Sandwich with added lettuce and tomato paired with the Cajun Fries and Onion Rings. The gooeyness of the melted cheddar cheese is the absolute best!!! The Onion Rings are always crispy and delicious and the Cajun Fries always have just the right amount of seasoning. I frequent Cook Out more than I would like to admit but it is always tastes so great and if you haven't tried the Banana Pudding Milkshake, you are absolutely missing out!!! read more

I don't usually leave bad reviews, but this was beyond gross. I went to Cookout excited for a quick bite, but when I bit into my burger--there was a hair in it. Long, dark, and definitely not mine. Completely ruined the meal. I took it back to the counter and got a half-hearted apology, no refund, no replacement, just a shrug like this happens all the time. An OK experience at Cook Out in Virginia Beach, VA. I heard good reviews about this place and I wanted to give it a try. My experience was take-out via drive-thru. The customer service was just OK. The menu was elaborate, however, I was skeptical about some of their menu items and whether or not the quality would be any better than frozen, store bought food like their vast array of grilled and frozen chicken. They have traditional "cook out" items like burgers and hot dogs and all-American sides such as fries and onion rings. Some of their sides, like corn dogs and onion rings, seem a bit unconventional. I ordered the Cook Out Style Hot Dog which is topped with chili, mustard, onions, and coleslaw. I wasn't a fan of this hot dog primarily because I the coleslaw was just too much of a flavor contrast and made the hot dog more sloppy than it already needed to be with the chili. Our first experience at Cook Out was disappointing. The cashier displayed a poor attitude and unhelpful customer service, making our inquiries feel unwelcome. Especially with her nasty attitude and ghetto neck rolling. The cleanliness of the restaurant was lacking, particularly near the soda machine. The BBQ sandwich was dry and flavorless, only improved by a touch of Louisiana hot sauce they add to it, while the burger was similarly lacking in moisture. The highlight of the meal was the cheese quesadilla. The fries and onion rings were just that. Unfortunately, we will not be returning. Went here tonight with my mom and niece for milkshakes. Sometimes I get my favorites when I don't feel like being fun, but normally I switch it up. Tonight I tried the cappuccino and was not a fan. We ordered the cappuccino, two vanillas and a blueberry. I couldn't tell the difference between the vanillas and the cappuccino. They all looked the same. It tasted like vanilla to me too. The only reason I knew it was cappuccino is because there was a "c" on the lid. I also asked my mom, who hates coffee, to try it and tell me. She said it was most definitely cappuccino. Obviously I wouldn't get this flavor again. In case you're wondering, my favorites are watermelon, orange push-up, chocolate strawberry, and chocolate peanut butter. My Co-worker goes to this place often because it's just around the corner. However, every time we come here, the cashier's behavior is very unsanitary. She wears gloves on one hand but uses the same gloved hand to touch the microphone, her face, and her mouth--- and then touches my food. That' gross and unhygienic. Please train your staff not to do that. What's the point of wearing a mask if hygiene isn't being followed? I completely lost my appetite. She even keeps touching her lips with the same gloved hand. I cannot recall the last time I have gotten takeaway food this bad in a long long time. In fact, I don't know if I've ever had something this bad in all of 2+ decades of living in the US. Really. Like ever. We got two $5.99 Combo Trays with strawberry and vanilla shakes. One tray consisted of grilled chicken sandwich and the other with beef quesadillas. Both contained the same sides: chicken nuggets and cheese bites. The portion size was terrible. Each trays got exactly 3 pieces of chicken nuggets and 4-5 pieces of cheese bites. The chicken nuggets were ok. And the cheese bites were either hollow and had no cheese inside or consisted entirely of fried batter and breading. The grilled chicken sandwich was dry and contained excessive amounts mayonnaise. The beef quesadilla was one of the saddest things I've ever had and tasted in the US. The cheese wasn't melted and it had crumbles of hamburger meat. You should watch the videos of it peeling itself off from the tortillas. Ugh. This really ought not be called a beef quesadilla of any sort. In sum, just don't go there and waste your time or money. It truly isn't worth it. read more

Cook Out is what it is as far as fast food and the menu options - but the food is fresh and warm and they have a ton of milkshake flavors and some really interesting ones like banana cream pie and lots of mint. Their milkshakes are soooo good and thick. The hamburgers are delicious if you're in the mood and the prices are super cheap. They also have some interesting sides like you can get a side of chicken nuggets or a quesadilla. My step-son and his girlfriend love it bc it is a ton of food for really cheap and they like to go and get lots of protein after a workout at the gym nearby. The drive through moves very fast bc, like Chick-Fil-A, it has two lanes. Located in a strip mall with tons of parking and easy in and out access by like three different ways. It was very crowded last Friday night when we came through but they were doing a good job and the line moved pretty fast. No complaints here. read more

I've been here twice and both times were OK. You can't really beat the price for a burger and shake for under $7. The location is off General Booth. It's a newer build out. Parking is a challenge with a small lot that's dead end. I had to park at their neighbors lot one time. There was some about of debris on the walk up. They do offer a drive up window. I found the dining room was decent size and mix of booths with tables and chairs. Both times there was debris on the floor and tables dirty. The first time I was with a group of kids taking my son in for first time. Service was good, they were really busy. Everyone got burgers and varieties of shakes. They have tons of options to choose from on milkshakes. The kids all enjoyed themselves. My burger and strawberry shake was good. The quality of the shake was meh to me. The second time there was an issue with no one up front for a minute or so. I got a bbq sandwich. It was afternoon on a weekday and not too busy. My table was clean. The dining room looked much better than first time. My order was called and I sat down and unwrapped it. The sandwich did not look like much, but was surprisingly good. Always impressed with cookout and how they are able to keep all the orders together even when they are being swamped in the drive thru. My only problem with this cookout is the building itself. I was really excited to go here since I am from out of state and we don't have these although there are really bad reviews I decided to give it a try the only thing is the lady was kind of rude besides that we still ordered got our food which was great a little dry but it came up really quickly and you can tell they pre cook which isn't bad at all besides the food my husband got a milkshake and like every review says it was not shooken at all his eyes were popping out of his head trying to suck the shake through the straw if you want a milkshake I'd go else where but if you want some good fast food this is the place to go ! read more

This Cook Out opened a few months ago and is located on General Booth Blvd., just south of the Dam Neck Rd. intersection. The signage outside is easy to see and is in the same overall shopping center as Big Lots and other stores and restaurants. I have not done the drive through here when I come. I have always done my orders and eaten inside the place. Each Cook Out seems to have some type of theme inside each of their stores. This one is no exception and has a theme of military (all branches represented), which is fitting for the location. There is quite a bit of seating in here as well. The restrooms are at the end of the seating area. Through my several visits here, I have had a bunch of different items from the menu. I have always done one of their Cook Out Trays, which includes an entree, two sides, and a drink. I generally switch up between the two hot dogs, the big double burger, and the Cajun chicken sandwich as the entree portion of the tray. The food has always been good (hot and to order) and they tend to be bargain priced for what you get when compared to other fast food locations nearby. On most visits, I have not had any issues. There was one time where the cashier at the front looked like they just didn't want to be there. Otherwise, it has been a very good experience with the staff at this location. If you're looking for a different fast food place than the national chain ones, this place should fit that fancy. This particular location is a lot bigger than all the other restaurants I have visited which is great because during a heavy lunch or dinner rush it can accommodate the demand with more room and seating as well as outdoor seating if that tickles your fantasy. I love cookout but I have to tell the story from the week this location opened - I went through the drive thru and got a Cheerwine float, among other drinks in a drink tray. The float was apparently significantly overfilled and the lid was not on. My passenger took the drink tray, noticed the lid popped off, tried to fit the lid back on the float only to realize it had already been spilling down the sides and down into the drink tray... down through the bottom of the tray.. and onto their white shirt and jeans. Cheerwine doesn't come out easily of white shirts, jeans, OR car upholstery. Just plain laziness on the part of whoever filled the drink and gave a careless attempt to put the lid on, then proceeded to decide they should hand it to me like that anyways. So my daughter and I stopped for lunch after grocery shopping. Orginally we wanted Steak and Shake and did not know they had closed. So this was the second option. Honestly I wish we had just waited until we got home or had just about anything else. The place is kind of on the cheaper side of fast food in my opinion and honestly in my opinion it shows. My burger was bad a side of onion rings was 3 and needed something they were just plan and kind of tasteless coleslaw was ok, and the sweet tea can cause sugar shock. Overall it was just not a great experience. My daughter had a chicken sandwich fries and hush puppies she said everything was just alright nothing special. This store is very new. But whoever build the drive thru really messed up this store. First off its so confusing how to pay and where do you pay after ordering if your in the other lane for drive thru. I end up blocking the entire line for paying and picking up food because of not seeing the other car in front of me that wasn't done with their order. This is a new location which is good and bad because now i have a cookoout closer to where i live and its bad because theyre open till 4am and i will likely one night sneak out here for a late night snack lol but they are like any other cook-out. quick , easy delicious food items. this restaurant offers dine-in area. ive seen other locations with a small area to sit outside, i didnt notice one for here. it would be nice for when the weather warms up. I went close to 6 o'clock so i might have just not noticed due to it getting darker sooner. But as usual with a cook-out restaurant the drive thru was packed. this took me back to my college days when the sit in area was closed and we'd sit in my lil jeep and wait at least 10mins waiting on a cajun chicken tray with double fries lol best conversations and turn up sessions aaahh the memories lol. they do not have a double drive thru which is fine because those things are a little risky to me, cars bumping that sharp turn you gotta make to get in front of the other car (cough military location cough cough) I decided to eat in since i made the drive there. the inside was fresh and clean. the noise level was average. some families and couples came to eat in as well. they have adequate seating for small -medium size groups so if you want to bring friends/family whomever there is room, I love cook-out but have not been to one in awhile. i ordered my usual order but also noticed a new item to me at least. they were called cook-out rounds, i equate them to being fried cheese filled mini hash browns.....regardless they're pretty good lol so woot woot ! i cant wait to stop in again and try more of the cook-out rounds and to maybe explore more of the menu lol maybe read more
