    Cheddar Style Chicken Sandwich
    Leah J.

Cook Out never disappoints. I absolutely love their fast service, reasonable prices and friendly staff! My all time favorite item is the Cheddar Style Chicken Sandwich with added lettuce and tomato paired with the Cajun Fries and Onion Rings. The gooeyness of the melted cheddar cheese is the absolute best!!! The Onion Rings are always crispy and delicious and the Cajun Fries always have just the right amount of seasoning. I frequent Cook Out more than I would like to admit but it is always tastes so great and if you haven't tried the Banana Pudding Milkshake, you are absolutely missing out!!!

    Cook Out Style Hot Dog

An OK experience at Cook Out in Virginia Beach, VA. I heard good reviews about this place and I wanted to give it a try. My experience was take-out via drive-thru. The customer service was just OK. The menu was elaborate, however, I was skeptical about some of their menu items and whether or not the quality would be any better than frozen, store bought food like their vast array of grilled and frozen chicken. They have traditional "cook out" items like burgers and hot dogs and all-American sides such as fries and onion rings. Some of their sides, like corn dogs and onion rings, seem a bit unconventional. I ordered the Cook Out Style Hot Dog which is topped with chili, mustard, onions, and coleslaw. I wasn't a fan of this hot dog primarily because I the coleslaw was just too much of a flavor contrast and made the hot dog more sloppy than it already needed to be with the chili. I'll give them another try if in the area. Give them a shot.

    Rude cashier "Robert"
    Tammy V.

Our first experience at Cook Out was disappointing. The cashier displayed a poor attitude and unhelpful customer service, making our inquiries feel unwelcome. Especially with her nasty attitude and ghetto neck rolling. The cleanliness of the restaurant was lacking, particularly near the soda machine. The BBQ sandwich was dry and flavorless, only improved by a touch of Louisiana hot sauce they add to it, while the burger was similarly lacking in moisture. The highlight of the meal was the cheese quesadilla. The fries and onion rings were just that. Unfortunately, we will not be returning. Our ticket says the cashier was "Robert" but it was an older woman who took our order. Maybe her name is Robert.

It was vanilla and cappuccino but we ate it all

Went here tonight with my mom and niece for milkshakes. Sometimes I get my favorites when I don't feel like being fun, but normally I switch it up. Tonight I tried the cappuccino and was not a fan. We ordered the cappuccino, two vanillas and a blueberry. I couldn't tell the difference between the vanillas and the cappuccino. They all looked the same. It tasted like vanilla to me too. The only reason I knew it was cappuccino is because there was a "c" on the lid. I also asked my mom, who hates coffee, to try it and tell me. She said it was most definitely cappuccino. Obviously I wouldn't get this flavor again. In case you're wondering, my favorites are watermelon, orange push-up, chocolate strawberry, and chocolate peanut butter. I can't wait for peppermint chip next month! Five stars because it's always great every time I come here. It's not their fault I just happened to dislike my milkshake this one time.

Combo tray order with chicken sandwich, 2 sides --chicken nuggets and cheese bites

I cannot recall the last time I have gotten takeaway food this bad in a long long time. In fact, I don't know if I've ever had something this bad in all of 2+ decades of living in the US. Really. Like ever. We got two $5.99 Combo Trays with strawberry and vanilla shakes. One tray consisted of grilled chicken sandwich and the other with beef quesadillas. Both contained the same sides: chicken nuggets and cheese bites. The portion size was terrible. Each trays got exactly 3 pieces of chicken nuggets and 4-5 pieces of cheese bites. The chicken nuggets were ok. And the cheese bites were either hollow and had no cheese inside or consisted entirely of fried batter and breading. The grilled chicken sandwich was dry and contained excessive amounts mayonnaise. The beef quesadilla was one of the saddest things I've ever had and tasted in the US. The cheese wasn't melted and it had crumbles of hamburger meat. You should watch the videos of it peeling itself off from the tortillas. Ugh. This really ought not be called a beef quesadilla of any sort. In sum, just don't go there and waste your time or money. It truly isn't worth it.

Double cheese with jalapeños and bacon.

Burgers were good, jalapeños and other vege toppings were fresh and crunchy on our burgers, which was a plus. But good lord, that menu is absurd and not user friendly if you don't frequent the place. And that's all Cook-Outs that I've been through. Streamlining the menu would go a long way vs throwing every option known to man on multiple menus. The picture isn't flattering but the taste was.

I've been here twice and both times were OK. You can't really beat the price for a burger and shake for under $7. The location is off General Booth. It's a newer build out. Parking is a challenge with a small lot that's dead end. I had to park at their neighbors lot one time. There was some about of debris on the walk up. They do offer a drive up window. I found the dining room was decent size and mix of booths with tables and chairs. Both times there was debris on the floor and tables dirty. The first time I was with a group of kids taking my son in for first time. Service was good, they were really busy. Everyone got burgers and varieties of shakes. They have tons of options to choose from on milkshakes. The kids all enjoyed themselves. My burger and strawberry shake was good. The quality of the shake was meh to me. The second time there was an issue with no one up front for a minute or so. I got a bbq sandwich. It was afternoon on a weekday and not too busy. My table was clean. The dining room looked much better than first time. My order was called and I sat down and unwrapped it. The sandwich did not look like much, but was surprisingly good. It also had a decent about of bbq. The bun was fresh. After two tries a 3.5 rounding down seems like a good place to put them. I will not rush back, but can see me trying again.

I was really excited to go here since I am from out of state and we don't have these although there are really bad reviews I decided to give it a try the only thing is the lady was kind of rude besides that we still ordered got our food which was great a little dry but it came up really quickly and you can tell they pre cook which isn't bad at all besides the food my husband got a milkshake and like every review says it was not shooken at all his eyes were popping out of his head trying to suck the shake through the straw if you want a milkshake I'd go else where but if you want some good fast food this is the place to go !

This Cook Out opened a few months ago and is located on General Booth Blvd., just south of the Dam Neck Rd. intersection. The signage outside is easy to see and is in the same overall shopping center as Big Lots and other stores and restaurants. I have not done the drive through here when I come. I have always done my orders and eaten inside the place. Each Cook Out seems to have some type of theme inside each of their stores. This one is no exception and has a theme of military (all branches represented), which is fitting for the location. There is quite a bit of seating in here as well. The restrooms are at the end of the seating area. Through my several visits here, I have had a bunch of different items from the menu. I have always done one of their Cook Out Trays, which includes an entree, two sides, and a drink. I generally switch up between the two hot dogs, the big double burger, and the Cajun chicken sandwich as the entree portion of the tray. The food has always been good (hot and to order) and they tend to be bargain priced for what you get when compared to other fast food locations nearby. On most visits, I have not had any issues. There was one time where the cashier at the front looked like they just didn't want to be there. Otherwise, it has been a very good experience with the staff at this location. If you're looking for a different fast food place than the national chain ones, this place should fit that fancy. Great food, great prices, and an overall good experience says that you should try this place out as well.

    Milkshakes

Last night my family went for a milkshake run and when we got home, we discovered that these shakes weren't worthy of bringing any boys to the yard. The service was not only slow, but the mix ins were thrown on top without being blended. We were highly disappointed in what was once a great late night treat.

It was a bit chilly outside but it was fine where I was but I was happy I had on long sleeves. After being seated my server greeted and told what the fish of the day was, which was rock fish but I settled on the Cajun chicken pasta. I didn't wait long for the food at all, at first I thought that was pretty awesome until I received my pasta and it was drier than the Sahara desert. Then to add insult to injury there was a charge to have sauce added but so be it because there was no amount of swishing around my pasta to spread the sauce to even attempt to be satisfied. The sauce creation took longer than it did to get the actual meal and that's what earned the 3 stars because my meal was certainly cold by the time I received the sauce. Ridiculous. My server via it all did check on me and by no means did I hold it against him at all and still tipped him handsomely. Did I mention this was my first time here on a solo date for self...first impressions huh smh I will have to come back again to see if the service is better on a warmer day. Wasnt impressed by yesterday's meal but the customer service was great with the actual people interaction l had.

I still love the OG Bay Local and probably need to visit there again to be reminded of why we fell in love in the first place, but the location on General Booth... hard to beat, especially being so close. Pictures of animals, stuffed birds and deer heads on the walls, Leather couch and chairs around a fireplace, and warm wood paneling and low lighting. Very comfortable. Our waitress was awesome in every respect. She asked the right questions, made great wine recommendations. Her timing was perfect, very quick and efficient, and very personable. She was wonderful. We started with sharing the four Reuben Egg Rolls with Russian dressing appetizer. Crispy flaky crust with delicious Reuben meat inside dipping into enjoyable Russian dressing. We ordered salads and our waitress asked small or large. Once she explained the difference, small Wedge for me and a small Pickled Beet Salad. Both were excellence. For comparison, the large salads are a meal unto themselves. My wife decided on the Wild Mushroom Risotto for her entrée. A very generous bowl of rice, wild mushrooms, and peas in a creamy garlic sauce. She loved it. My wife could only eat half of it; the rest came home in a doggy bag. I had the pan roasted venison loin. Two big medallions cooked medium rare, laying on a bed of creamy garlic mashed potatoes and peppercorn demi-glace with roasted Broccolini cooked just right, wilted with some crunch still left in them. We both really enjoyed our dishes and highly recommend both dishes! We finished with some nice hot decaf coffee and shared the creamy delicious Bourbon Apple cheesecake and the warm Upside-Down brown butter cake which is suppose to come with mango sorbet. But our waitress agreed to my request for vanilla ice cream instead. These desserts were fabulous. Thank you, Hunt Room for a great 45th Anniversary night out.

It was my first visit here and I was really looking forward to it because I heard such good things…read moreabout it. It's located in the basement of the historic Cavalier Hotel which is absolutely gorgeous. Valet parking and they charge you $7 and if you pay through the app, it's additional $1.25 service charge. Like they aren't charging you enough for the food, now you have to pay for parking too. Let's not forget the tip for the valet guy too (deserved). The atmosphere is like a man's cave. Dark and like the name, "hunt" decorated. When you enter there are overstuffed leather sofas in front of a fireplace. Tons of photos of animals as well as taxidermy animals. Everything relating to hunting. The place was rather loud with a few large parties. To the point that my guest and I couldn't even hear each other. Once they left, it was nice and quiet, unfortunately, we were about to leave as well. I was told it's best to make a reservation, so I did through open table but I don't think it was needed at the time of our off-peak visit (3.16.2026). Service was great. The waiter kept returning to see if we needed anything and how the food was. It was our first time trying the Oysters Rockefeller ($18 for 6) which is Half Shell Oysters stuffed with a creamy spinach and applewood smoked bacon which were good. At this time, I had nothing to compare them to, but 2 days later, I had them at The Atlantic on Pacific and those were SO MUCH BETTER! A lot cheaper too during happy hour. I had the Filet Mignon ($49) - Garlic and Herb whipped Potatoes, Roasted Broccolini, Tarnished Truth Steak Sauce and Sauteed Mushrooms (I'm allergic to Mushrooms so I had them on the side for my guest to enjoy them). Very good meal. The Tarnished Truth Steak Sauce is so yummy, I could drink it. Complimented the Filet Mignon and the potatoes so well. The broccolini was also delicious. For dessert I got the Smore's Brownie ($10). It was more like a chocolate cake with marshmallow, Caramel and Chocolate Sauce and Vanilla Ice Cream. It was not worth the money or the calories. Pretty tasteless. You need walnuts in a Brownie or it's just chocolate cake. I had gotten a Reuben sandwich ($18) to go and it was very fatty like bacon. Unfortunately, it was a waste of money because more than half of it went in the garbage due to it being so fatty. I felt the place was rather pricey and if you are just dining there, I do feel the valet parking should be free or reimbursed by the restaurant (i.e. take the charge off the bill). I think you can find some more reasonable places and better food nearby.
