This is the slowest Cook Out in Knoxville. I waited 20 minutes for a BLT that only had bacon on it. I always have to sit in line for 20 to 30 minutes. The service is slow and poor. I don't recommend eating at this location. read more

The folks working the drive thru on Monday 12/21/2020 p.m. shift were very rude. We attempted to ask a question as we aren't local and had never seen this place before. The young lady was so rude she literally closed the window in our face. To top it off the food was average at best. read more

Outstanding fast food. I had eaten here once before and do not recall it being memorable. I was anticipating a similar experience today when I received what appeared to be a tiny burger very quickly. Fortunately it was fantastic. The service was fast and super friendly. The burger was an authentic interpretation of a true homemade backyard burger. You could tell this was fresh beef, seasoned well and cooked expertly (for well done, I assume fast food joints have to cook their burgers well done). The toppings were fresh and plentiful. In fact, this was a fair imitation of Five Guys right down to the foil wrapper. Fries were thick cut, hot and fresh. The menu is large and a bit overwhelming. I didn't veer from the burger and fries but some of the other items looks good as well. For fast food this is top level. I felt bad for the people crowded into Hardee's across the road and MacDonald's down the street. I was almost compelled to go to them and tell them that there was something far superior available to them. I didn't feel as bad for the people at Wendy's but given the choice (and assuming a certain level of consistency) I'd choose Cook Out every time. $12 for 2 burgers, 2 large fries and one order of hush puppies (also great!). Cook Out appears to be looking to carve out a space somewhere between Wendy's and Five Guys. While I imagine that's an incredibly narrow space, the price, quality and value on display during this visit places it exactly there. Recommended. read more

My wife and just stopped by for a milkshake. OMG, cook out has the best milkshakes around. The cashier suggested if I wanted to create my own with whatever I wanted, that's also a good option. So, I added chocolate chips (really shredded pieces of chocolate) to the banana fudge shake. Amazing! My wife loves the snickers shake and the bits of Carmel, chocolate and nuts is also great! The dining room is huge and this cook out is the nicest one in Knoxville, very friendly staff and extremely clean. Only thing they need are some outside tables! We'll definitely be back. read more

Recommended by college football Twitter, my family stopped at the end of a long trip from Wisconsin. Cookout is the absolute best. Milkshakes are super, and the variety and goodness of the food is fantastic. Hush puppies were fabulous, can't get them here. And there were mozzarella sticks at this location. We read great reviews about this Cook Out location and were excited to try it for the first time here. Sounded like the lobby is large, clean, and enjoyable to eat in. Sadly, when we arrived for lunch and walked up to the doors to enter, the lobby was closed. We had to order through the drive through and then eat in the grass (we were traveling and needed a break from the car). As first timers, we would've liked to have ordered at the counter so we could see the full menu and ask questions. The drive through was a rushed experience and we ended up with our food not quite how we'd wanted it. The food was alright. I got a bun-less burger - the size of the burger patty on it's own was a bit disappointing. I also got a cheddar burger thinking it would have a slice of cheddar on it, but it was literally yellow cheese sauce in a little cup. We ended up with nothing to dip our fries in, so not sure how their sauces are. My burger didn't come with sauce either. The milkshakes were good, at least! read more

I love Cookout but the service has been terrible the last few times I've been there. After waiting for at least 5 minutes for someone to ask what I wanted in the drive-thru they completely messed up my order! I received a BLT instead of the chicken sandwich I ordered and it even says chicken sandwich on the receipt and the cashier put down one of my sides incorrectly so I did not get what I ordered. Seems also to be a hangout for guys just to hang out in the lobby and parking lot. Once I got past the gang hanging at the order desk, the order was taken and filled. We ate on a Thursday at about 7:00pm. The parking lot was full and so was the restaurant. This is a very casual, family oriented place. We ordered a "cook out tray". I got a regular burger, slaw, onion rings and a cheerwine. My husband got the double burger with a double order of onion rings and a strawberry cheesecake milkshake. We were not impressed. The slaw had an absolutely tasteless dressing on it. It came in a probably 2 ounce cup. It tasted like a cup of plain shredded cabbage. The onion rings were pitiful. They don't hold a candle to Hardee's onion rings. The shake was thick, but nothing to write home about. Dairy Queen Blizzards are better. The burger was the only delicious thing we had. It actually tasted like we had just grilled it out in our backyard. We will not be going back. Over all we were disappointed. read more

Well that really hit the spot! Visited this little place on our way to the coast. Tried the pork BBQ platter and it did not disappoint. I was surprised that the pork wasn't sauced but it didn't need any sauce. The platter doesn't come with bread or bun so I ordered one and assembled a BBQ pork sandwich complete with their delicious coleslaw! A perfect bite: pork was flavorful without sauce and the slaw complimented with its slightly sweet dressing. And the hush puppies!!! I'm thinking about sneaking back over from the hotel we are in to get some more of those! Absolutely addictive! And did I mention, the prices were super cheap! While traveling through Knoxville on I75 we stopped for lunch at CookOut (Emory Road exit). My husband wanted to try their burger. I have a food allergy to gluten . Luckily they had a grilled chicken sandwich that I ordered with out the bun. They went the extra mile and changed their gloves and put my chicken on a piece of foil after it was cooked that I put on my own gluten free bread. I realize that just being made in their kitchen there could be cross contamination, but I appreciated their willingness to accommodate. read more

Food is good and price is low. We fed 3 people for about $15. I'll use the drive thru but not a fan of interior. Crowded, noisy, uncomfortable seating (you know, like a fast food place). There was an alarm that went off non-stop in the kitchen the entire time we were there that drove me nuts. Plus I was super grossed out after a woman sneezed, wetly, on the self serve soda fountain. This place is great! Not "fast food" as usual, but really good food -- fast. Great burgers & grilled chicken sandwiches (other choice too, but that's all we tried), large selection of creative sides, all true Southern style. Prices are super cheap for food this good. We live near by and this is a go to place for us very often. The last several visits, we have been very displeased. The chicken quesadillas are usually dry and not much filling, the quantity of fries given has dropped for some reason. The most recent visit was the deal breaker for us. The cheeseburger we ordered was raw, and cold. This led us to contacting the local health department to have them inspected. There's no telling how many burgers went out that were not fully cooked! I contacted the customer service department and filed a complaint. She assured me the district manager or store manager would contact me. I never got that call. Went to the Powell location and went I got home, I discovered the meal was burnt so badly it was black and charred. Three orders of nuggets and two chickem quesa's. I took it back and they replaced the order with the wrong order. I called but no one answered. I called corporate but they didn't answer either. Last penny they will ever get from me. read more
