Finally came here for once when we were on this side of town - with the traffic and construction as of this review it's pretty wild out there off Emory rd! Anyway, going to give this a 3.75/5. The cheese dip, which is the favorite of the table (and our son) was not fully heated and seemed like it was missing something. Not sure. The rest of the food was generally good and cooked to order. The staff was friendly and quick to respond to anything we needed. The inside looked clean from the walk and sitting area we observed from. The parking lot was really bumpy through the entrance we came in - not their fault of course, just take the one entrance just past it and double back. If you have a kiddo just FYI we learned the high chairs were barely big enough for our 2.5 YO (he's roughly 30 lbs) - you may want to bring a booster or try to sit in a booth with them to the wall. We'll probably give it one more go to support something other than the 15 burger joints going up Emory, lol. SYOY! read more

A solid Mexican spot! We dined here with some friends on a Saturday night and had a great time. My friend had the sangria special and my husband had a beer. Both were tasty! The service was friendly and prompt and the menu has so many options. They have the classics along with some unique dishes that you won't find at every standard Mexican restaurant. I went with my usual order, the pollo con queso. It was delicious and the portion was big enough to split. My husband had the birria tacos and enjoyed them as well! It was his first time trying birria and he said they were flavorful and something he'd order again. We all had a wonderful evening and will definitely return! read more

The Birria tacos were definitely above average! The food overall however, is nothing special. We've also experienced an awkward vibe from some of the serving staff the two times we've gone. Not sure why, you never want to seem like an inconvenience to the staff when you first walk in the door. Either way, glad to see new restaurants sprouting up around Knoxville! read more

Well well well... tried this new spot out and was seriously impressed. The staff was inviting, courteous, and professional. You can tell that they take pride in this restaurant. The artwork inside is gorgeous and the small details were beautifully noticed. We were seated in a booth, and even their seats are the most comfortable I've sat on! The wait staff were quick and helpful - solid recommendations. The food was perfectly seasoned, cooked, and presented. I just want to note that some dishes may be a tad spicy for some ( be sure to ask to try their sauces), but still perfect for most to enjoy the savory flavors. This place is dangerously close to me. Once seated, we ordered drinks and food quickly. The table right next to us, on both sides, ordered food, for more people, ten minutes after us. We waited, and waited. The tables next to us got their food within ten minutes, while we still did not receive ours. I kept looking for our waiter, and 30 minutes later, I see him finally look over at us with a concerned look. He went back into the kitchen. He came out five minutes later saying our food would be right out, while three more tables, who sat after us, had already received their food. After tables who ordered after us had already completed their meals started to leave, we finally went to the manager. An hour after, we got half our order, then the other half five minutes later. We were told our food took 25 minutes and was told by both the manager and waiter they did not care and it was not their issue. No apology, no explanation. Anyone who has worked these jobs knows, the waiter forgot to put in our order, but instead of just saying this and apologizing, we were treated very poorly by all staff. When we received our check, my son's food was on a different bill. Yet, again, no one explanation, just excuses. The food was not great and the staff were horrible! Do not recommend! read more

Some of the best guacamole we've ever had - and we're from Texas. Very fresh and chunks of avocado with fresh pico. Not too spicy.

This was our first time here. The Powell location was just recently built and opened a a week ago. The service was fantastic, and the food was great! Hubby and son had fajitas and I had the chimichangas supremas. Their guacamole was so good!! Will definitely be adding this place in to our weekly rotation. read more

Today was our first visit and it was delicious. The food quality and presentation were excellent. The ambiance was nice and clean and not noisy/loud. Service was wonderful. Juan served us and he was dressed up even wearing a tie. Chips were warm and salsa was just right. I had two steak tacos and my husband had the number one lunch combo. I've eaten here a few times since they have opened. I am always surprised by the service and quality of food with each visit. We usually go as a large group and have ordered many different items from the menu...so far no one has complained about the taste or quality of the food. Let's first start off by saying I was thrilled to hear the powell area was getting a New Mexican restaurant. Considering most of the ones surrounding the area are terrible. Note that this establishment is supposedly owned by the same people who own El Metate in Halls. So..... We enter the place and it is beautiful inside and has a large outdoor patio. We like sitting at a bar area so we can talk to other people but the bar is in a back corner is the restaurant and only has 4-6 chairs. This a a large place and they could have made an amazing bar area to compete with Aubrey's across the street. So, we ordered a classic Margherita and watch the server make the drink with a pre mix from a gallon jug. My first thought was where is the bartender and second thought was why are they using a mix. Set yourself apart from others and make a fresh squeeze drink. We then ordered two meals of enchiladas and chicken fajitas. They brought chips and salsa and again a bowl of jar salsa purée. My thought was make fresh salsa to stand out amongst the others. Meals came. They were fresh and hot but honestly no different than any other average Mexican in the area. Can't say we'll go back unless they improve the premade items. Kinda disappointed! read more
