When everything else is closed Cookout gets a extra star for its burgers, which are better than passable. The quality of the sides may be more variable and if it weren't for the apparent deal of the tray (which also includes a drink in addition to the two sides) I would probably stick to the burgers. Service is always pleasant and friendly (that aspect of regional culture hasn't been erased yet), and the chain provides employment opportunities for young people. At this location the hours of the dining area have been extended to midnight, but you may have to share the dining area with some noisy teens. In n Out hasn't expanded in this area yet, and hopefully Cook Out can hold its own in a future contest between late-night burger spots. read more

Every time I stop at Cookout I swear their food gets smaller and smaller. Their big double is the same size as a McDonald's double cheeseburger. I order a trey that came with 2 side so I got fries and onion rings. I had to ask for ketchup and she gave me 2 whole packs! Wasn't away there was a ketchup shortage. First, this place is about as no-frills as you can get and I know this is a chain with 500 locations but as a Yankee, this is the first time I have encountered it. I am ashamed to admit that I ate here three times this weekend. Three times. One weekend but honestly? The amount of food I got for 8 dollars made me feel like I was living in 2008. Burgers-- burgers are great. Classic char grilled burger like you'd make in a backyard bbq. It hit the spot. Chicken - the chicken is next level. It was the best fast food grilled chicken sandwich I have ever had. if you've never even HEARD of cook out much less ever been to a cookout location before let me give you a quick heads up on how it works. 1) Drive thru. Two options but one is kind of odd because you sweep around the building. 2) You pick a tray or a jr tray so you order something like...a cheddar style burger. Comes with bacon, cheese, etc. 3) Then you pick two sides.. the sides here are pure chaos in the best way possible. This menu is made by people who like food and it doesn't feel like everything is being tested and refined to the nth degree. Let me learn y'all somethin' about the sides because who would know otherwise-- a bacon wrap? lettuce and bacon in a tortilla with some sauce. Pretty good. Cheese bites? Basically a cheese curd or cheese stick. Chicken nuggets! (yes you read that right, you can get a burger with a side of chicken nuggets.) or don't want chicken nuggets? what about a walking taco or how about a corndog? These are all sides. So if you were feeling brazen you could have that burger, then grab yourself a corndog and a quesadilla before you had to make any other choices. 4) Drinks. First-- their sweet tea is a delight and they rightfully just call it "huge tea" it's in a big container. The milkshake didn't excite me but I didn't realize that they had like 800 flavors and I just got chocolate. And yes... that entire meal? the burger, the corn dog, the quesadilla, and the giant sweet tea? 9 dollars. A shitty Mcdonalds' burger with cold fries and a coke will cost you 12 buck. The service was slow. I ordered one of their combo deals and it took over 15 minutes to get. I had to go up to the cashier and remind them that I didn't get my order yet. We are huge Cook Out fans as they were local to where we previously lived in SC. Stopped today with our toddler during a road trip and we're seriously disappointed. They have no form of a diaper changing station in either bathroom (and their manager was surprised to just be finding this out). I'm also not sure if the restaurant even has heat! we did not have a fashionable time here. we arrived at the dine in and one of the workers is sitting on a bench near the kitchen and pulls out her vape and starts vaping and blowing smoke out into the kitchen. then we order our food and our number is 4095 we waited for 20 minutes only for the workers to call 4094 then 4096 and so on. they completely skipped us and forgot about us. Employees are always friendly. If you're looking for great milkshakes, this is the place to go. Their shakes are my absolute favorite and I'm giving 5 stars just for those reasons. This place has become one of the worse in this area! Lobby been closed for months with the excuse of not enough staff. Talked to two employees and they say management just don't want to open lobby anymore. Pulled into drive through had 1 car in front of me at 6:16 on a Saturday night and hear the clerk tell car in front of me they might want to go elsewhere that things are moving slowly waited 18 minutes and car still hadn't been served just drove over curb and left so did three cars behind me. Sad because the food is great. The attitudes have been getting worse each time I've gone to this location. Stopped at The Cookout on our way back from Asheville. They have hot dogs, hamburgers , chicken chili, etc. But what is most unique is all their sides. The have the basics: Onion rings, fries, slaw but they also have cheese curds, hush puppies, quesadillas or chicken nuggets as sides. The food is good but watch what toppings are included on your sandwich, additions can get expensive. The milkshake options are quite extensive and good. A good option for fast food on the road. The restaurant seems to be mostly in Tennessee, Georgia, North Carolina and South Carolina, but did see one in Richmond Kentucky. read more

I typically only eat here on occasion in the middle of the night when I get a craving, but every time I go I'm always pleasantly surprised with hot and fresh food and I also enjoy the friendly encounters I have with the employees. The cashier I interacted with today was Alisha. She was very inviting and kind. This place was awful I have been here before and it was amazing but I came today. The person that greeted me was rude I ordered 2 hotdogs and a milk shake the milk shake was really fast and good but I had to wait 30 minutes on my chili dog which is just ridiculous. I go to find a table and they are all sticky and very messy and disgusting I had to manually wipe the table before I sat down and still I had to wash my pants when I returned home because it was awful sticky. And this every table was this way like someone poured maple syrup on every table in the restaurant I would not recommend this place it's awful and I will never attend it again I normally never write reviews but I felt I had to for this one because I have never had that bad of an experience in fast food! read more

I've never heard of this place before. I'm sure people that live here know what it is. Since I like backyard cookouts, I gave it a try. I got a grilled chicken sandwich and substituted onion rings instead of fries, and got a side of coleslaw with it. The "tray" comes with a drink as well. It wasn't bad, it reminded me of chicken you would cook on the grill, which of course is the point. It came with lettuce and tomato on the bun, which was soft and fresh. The onion rings were good, the coleslaw was better, I would've liked to have gotten a little bit bigger portion on the onion rings and coleslaw, but considering the price I paid for it, it's not bad. We stopped 10/19/21 at 5:00pm and we ordered two Big Double Burger take out trays. The way the board is laid out that looks to be one burger, two sides and a drink for $4.99. The lady said $17.22 so we drove to the window since no one was in line and asked why $17.22 and not about $12.00. She said that it was how we ordered it. OK, please tell us what we ordered that resulted in the extra charge so we will know how to order if we ever come back again and she couldn't tell us. She said that meal is $6.29 and we got more than that. We just paid and went on our way but there is something very weird going on there with their pricing or we just got had. They either completely nail it, or completely fumble. We order the same thing almost every time we go. Like 5 times a week.
