The last time I was in the Carolinas was about 3 years ago and I was told by a few people about how good Cookout was. I was so busy going other places that i didn't get to try it. Well I was visiting Myrtle Beach and Cherry Grove and decided to try it this time and I have to say it was pretty darn good and cheap cheap for fast food now days. I went here on the 23rd of September for dinner. I got the Cookout Tray which is their combo options that you get to choose from and there are a lot of choices. I got the Barbeque Sandwich , Chicken Quesadilla , Hush Puppies , and a Cheerwine Float. Now that's a meal. The Bbq Sandwich with Slaw and Hot Sauce was soooo good. It tasted a lot like Smithfield's but with more of a bite and the slaw tasted just a little sweeter. The Chicken Quesadilla hardly had any chicken in it , but the cheese was tasty. The Hush Puppies were just right and the cashier asked me if I wanted any sauces for them and I had no clue , so she suggested the Polynesian Sauce and I got a Cookout Sauce too to try. They both were good , but I would like them better on probably chicken fingers. The Cheerwine Float was good and I had to refill my cup with drink a few times since there was plenty of ice cream in it. We don't have Cheerwine in Las Vegas. I used to get it at a specialty store in Vegas years ago , but they said they are having problems getting it and also Blenheim Ginger Ale Hot , so they quit trying. I ate outside at some of the tables they have with some other people doing the same. They have a dining area also which I had thought when I saw these places before they were just drive thru restaurants , well I was wrong. I would recommend trying Cookout and would love to try more of there items , but I'm back in Las Vegas now. I usually come home to visit every 2 or 3 years. I plan to move back there when I retire in a few more years.

Cheesy bites , hush puppies and milkshakes! My visit to this place was highlighted by all of the previous items which were so much better the I was expecting. The burger was actually great for fast food and o love that you can get fried onions! The hush puppies were so good for a quick service place I couldn't believe it! Definitely go to cookout and don't forget a shake!

"A rose among the thorns." Stopped by while vacationing in Myrtle Beach. We don't have these back in West Virginia. So we always like trying something different. Excellent service, food and value. My wife and I got delightfully full for under $18.00 then it wasn't until we were getting ready to leave that we noticed the mention of God on their packaging. Wow. What a bold and courageous stance to take in this wicked world we live in. Well done "COOK OUT" and the blueberry shake was outstanding

Took our beverage orders, returned quickly with those and water. She told us the specials which we passed on. Fred ordered fried oysters platter, I ordered an à la carte crab cake and oysters Rockefeller. Our food arrived quickly. Fried oysters were plentiful and crispy. House made chips were crunchy and delicious. My crab cake was wonderful - as close to a Maryland crab cake as I've had in a long time. Lump crab, very little bread crumbs, pan fried and served with a dollop of hollandaise. It needed some Old Bay seasoning. The Rockefeller Oysters were delicious. Plump oysters topped with spinach and Hollandaise. They need a splash of Pernod and would be 5 star. We split a piece of house made peanut butter pie for dessert. It wasn't good. Way too sweet and very soupy. Tasted like a cool whip recipe. Our tab was reasonable and we left our server a generous tip. We recommended the restaurant to numerous people we knew back at the hotel. I'd definitely return!

I was expecting more of a tavern or a brewery vibe which it does not have. It's in a strip mall and it feels like it's in a strip mall. It was VERY CLEAN and the bartender was friendly enough but the beer selection did not impress. Even though 20 taps sound like a lot, it didn't feel like it when I was trying to select a beer. And the food...do not go there hungry or at least do not expect a meal. We ordered Garlic Parmesan wings and got 5 for something like $8. They were tasty but looked like they came from a cornish hen. Seriously tiny. And the quesadilla was adequate but simple and unimpressive. Overall, not a bad place to get a drink, I just wouldn't go out of my way again.

The gentleman taking our order whom we are also met with when picking up was super nice. The establishment is actually much larger inside than it appears from the outside. They have a little bar area when you first walk in or you can get some alcohol and then tables in the back. Looked clean and inviting. After just a couple minute ride home sadly half our meal was cold and quite un appetizing. The cheeseburger was still nice and warm, the cheese steak had a good amount of meat, cheese and pepper and onion ratio and was also warm and quite good. The chicken wings delicious. The mozzarella sticks were so so as they were not in their typical breading, but I believe a beer batter, which gave it a little bit of a unique taste. They were however, cold as were the onion rings, which had a lot of potential and the fries. We did not eat them, but instead heated them up in the air fryer the next day and were able to enjoy them in that way. This Thursday I was heading up with the wife to buy some fish and we decided to go for it. Of course there was zero parking with a parade of cars in the parking lot waiting to pick up food, when my wife noticed a pick up truck right in front of the place about to exit. She sped right next to the spot and jumped in before anyone realized it. We're in...or so I thought. We strolled up and there were about 35 people sitting on benches and rocking chairs under a tent right in front of the place all waiting to get in. I figured this is not going to be easy. I went up to the hostess station and asked how long for a table for two and she said 35 minutes or so. I looked at my wife and gave her my name. I had to find out what all the hub bub was about. In about 30 minutes they shouted my name and I sprinted to the front door...I wasn't about to lose my table. In we went and we're shown a nice size table in the middle of the place. It kinda reminded me of a beachy mom and pop diner. The friendly waitress came to the table right away, gave us our menus, showed us the specials board and took a drink order. The menu was simple but had some choices on it. While we were thinking, she came back with our drinks and we quickly ordered an appetizer. In this case, onion rings. A few minutes later my wife settled on a crab cake app and a salad which she asked to be combined. I went for the soup of the day(NE clam chowder) and one of the specials...pork chops(I took my grilled not fried) with 3 sides, Lima beans, okra & tomatoes stewed and green beans. The meal came with a choice of cornbread or roll. I opted for the cornbread. In a flash, the onion rings came out followed by the soup. Now I do love me some onion rings and these were fantastic. Crispy, flavorful and not stringy. The soup was home made. Creamy with bits of clam and chunks of potato. No salt or pepper was needed as it came out steaming hot and perfect. It was a meal in itself and I ended up taking 3/4 home with me(something rarely do). After a few minutes, the main course came out. My wife dug into a very large homemade crab cake, chock full of crab meat and very flavorful. She loved it. The salad was fresh and crisp. My pork chops came out and the size of the plate shocked me. Now, I almost never talk about price but my plate was $12.49 and I got two large perfectly prepared, juicy pork chops with a healthy helping of the best okra and stewed tomatoes I ever had plus absolutely delicious green beans and tasty lima beans. What a deal! The only thing that wasn't above average was the corn bread which was a tad dry and plain. Most of the regulars opted for the home made roll(and the fried chicken which was being served at every table!). I was stuffed and had trouble finishing my plate. My wife who said she was full, managed to save enough room for dessert. Now everyone was eating the homemade peach cobbler so I suggested that. My wife never had it before and was thinking about the Oreo pie, but I persuaded her and she was glad I did. Instead of the usual whip cream she wanted vanilla ice cream with it and it was a fantastic combo. The cobbler came out piping hot and crumbly with sweet chunks of peaches that paired well with the cold vanilla ice cream. She attacked it so fast that I couldn't get a picture. I broke my own rules and dipped in for a few spoonfuls and I'm glad I did. It was heavenly. The bill came and I couldn't believe how reasonable it was. Now I know why you can't get into the joint. We paid our bill and gave the super friendly waitress a nice tip and were on our way. We will absolutely be back and will try to time it a bit better so we can find parking...or we'll take an Uber...it was that good.

The collards and mac & cheese are both top-shelf recipes ... to the point that my 6-yo - not usually keen on either - ate more of them than his french fries (which were also good). The peach cobbler and banana pudding weren't pretentious by any means, but they were definitely elevated compared to the average blue plate sweet course. We'll be back for some fried seafood soon!
